    I do SMART Repairs as a job. To blend the rear repair is really easy. First wet sand 1200 about 2 inches around the damage. Then another 2 inches with 1500. Lastly go another 2 inches with 3000. Mask up, covering half of the 3000 area, then when you base the area do it just outside the damage and then lacquer half an inch away from the 3000 masked section, you want that to be 'dry' so that once unmasked you can flat that area into the rest of the panel with 1500 then 3000 and polish it as you did the bumpers. I know it sounds complicated best it isn't. I do this kind of work everyday. I'm in the UK so sadly can't come over to show you. Brilliant job also on all your rebuilds Sam 👍👍👍

      exactly what I was going to say. One of the biggest issues with blending and masking is the tape line. Your 3000/1500 takes care of that. One of the things I was going to suggest was so stay well back from the clear. Having base, clear, base, clear in layers might cause some issues with the blending I think. One thing I did 40 years ago working in a body shop was use the smallest gun possible for a small area. That way you limit overspray/fogging as well.
      Chrisfix has a great video on blending. He put a roll of masking paper along the edge of the paint area. Helps eliminate a hard masking line. I haven't tried it, I have to fix the fenders of my F150 so I'll try it then.

      I think the whole rear bumper needs a light sanding as well. On the closeup of the license plate part, you could clearly see the orange peel effect

    • @PaintSociety
      @PaintSociety 5 років тому +1

      Easier said then done. Open blends never last and are hard. Plus the color is definitely not spot on. Metallic size are way off and the flop is is different. It won’t blend well.

    • @kennyclark2739
      @kennyclark2739 5 років тому +5

      The term blend refers to base coat not clear coat. when you spot in clear coat its called a "burn in". I dont think you will be happy with a burn in sam and it wont last long term. Blend the base coat and clear the entire qtr panel in your blow up booth!

      What's the process on getting a copart car ? Like insurance, Title, Regestering it? I'm looking to get a copart car but not interested in paying insurance and registration until it's fully fixed and ready to drive

    • @ethan_hsv62l
      @ethan_hsv62l 5 років тому +6

      Toxin Gaming you just bid on the car, pay for shipping and when your finished working on it you have to change the title to a rebuilt title if the car is a salvage title via an inspection and your on your way and after that you can register and insure the car

    • @ToxinGamingYTS
      @ToxinGamingYTS 5 років тому +2

      RoadCarReviews Thank you ! Sounds good! In your opinion whats the best car to start off with? I've been watching youtube and seen Corvettes, Hell Cats, Mustangs and ZL1's but i'm still a teen and those car parts would be too expensive.

    • @ethan_hsv62l
      @ethan_hsv62l 5 років тому +3

      Toxin Gaming you should start off with something cheap and simple to get your skills like a E46 BMW 330ci or something. Your idea of a mustang is a good idea but get a 4.6 or 5.0 mustang and I would recommend a 2007 mustang get because parts are decently priced and there’s a lot of parts and when your done you could do a new exhaust or supercharger etc.

      By design there is a gap there to allow some movement of the front bumper as necessary. 911s require one little extra 'push' to completely close the hood. At the 10:10 mark you can see the hood fully closed and with the gap.

    You should also blend the door as well if you don't it will be noticeable that the panel was repainted. A good helpful video to watch is Kevin Tetz Body Shop Basics, in that video he goes over how to properly blend in metallic paint on a dent repair on a quarter panel.

    Sam, I highly recommend buying some 4" pads and a small backing pad to do your headlights and other areas. I only use 4" pads now on my rotary and because of the smaller size you get less drag and can actually work faster vs. 6.5 pads. Just my personal preference but I also like the small swirl marks it leaves too.

      no, he just hasn't closed it ... it's just partially latched, so it can be manually released .. once it is closed all the way, then it can only be opened using the electric hood release system (and his battery might be low or dead)

      BigCooter.com
      That makes perfect sense.
      That was really making the obsessive part of me go insane. Beautiful car, it would be a shame for it to be blemished with an uneven hood/bumper.

    Do the body color mod on the little egg part of the headlight housing, makes them look 1000% better

    outSTANDING work Sam !!! WOW man, jussssst WOW !!! I've always had a serious affinity to the Porsche 911 Carerra. And you DEF did this one justice in bringing it back to life.
    Short kinda related story here;
    A few years ago a fellow fitness instructor friend of mine had a boyfriend who owned a 911 Carerra 4S. Through conversations that we had, I told her how much I loved Porsches. By the way, she had a Panamera She invited me to come over for dinner one night and to my surprise, they asked me if I'd like to take them out for a test drive . . . WWWWWWHUUUUT !?!?!?!? So in ONE NIGHT, I got to take out 2 Porsche's. :)
    But WAIT, it gets better. . . . ; )
    So I did also let them know I was an enthusiast car detail guy I mentioned that the 911 needed some serious love. As it turned out, they were soon going to Europe for a vacay and r & r and asked if I could detail the 911. He asked me how long it would take and I told him about 3 days taking my time. He replied "Great, we're gone for 10 days so after you're done with the car, it's YOURS TILL WE GET BACK "
    My reaction was ; : O !!!!! Needless to say I had a blast detailing that beast from front to rear, but the real treat was driving it on my own for a whole week !!! When they got back and saw his baby cleaned up for the first time, he almost didn't recognize it. He said it looked like it did when it came off the showroom floor !
    And the rest as they say, was history ; )

    There is some hazing on the bumper. Should go over with a da polisher with some m205 to make it shine nice

    Body filler looks heavy on the rocker. A good trick is to drill holes and thread in some screws and start pulling with a hammer. You don't need fancy welded on pieces to pull with a slide hammer. Worked for me.
