I think your P1630 code means that the ECUs for each bank of the engine don't know which is which - normally in a 2 ECU configuration like this there will be an identification pin that is shorted to ground on one ECU and left unconnected on the other one, so by checking the state of that pin when the ECU powers up it knows whether it is on the left or right bank. That would also explain why when you did a code scan the left hand and right hand ECUs came up as "not equipped" but "engine management system - recovery" does come up as it has found and ECU but doesn't know which one it is. Definitely worth checking the workshop manual wiring diagrams to find the ECU ID pin!

100% correct, I work as a mechanic at Audi and replacing the fuse will fix this issue. The hard or should I say time consuming part is locating the fuse!!
Yep. At some point someone was pulling levers trying to get something open and forgot to check on what else they released. If that damage wasn't listed in the auction info then it happened during transport. If so then the transport guys closed the hood before he arrived to pick it up. The other possibility, considering these cars are SO delicate, is the hood latch is failing. There's a chance he fixes everything, replaces the windshield and then the hood flies open again.
Or the hood got popped open when the undercarriage was damaged. It happened right under the hood hinges, the car could have flexed enough to possibly disengage the locks.
There is a immobiliser light on the left of the steering wheel, you have to pop in the key and wait for the light to turn off and then turn back on, so that the car starts properly
The immobilizer can be turned of with the remote on his keychain. He's pressing the remote before he turns the ignition. It's still weird though. I also suspect the immobilizer to not function properly (I had the same issue with my car with an after market immobilizer). After I removed that thing (a lot of rewiring though) the car runned perfect.
That hood has been flipped while the car was being driven, I have seen this several times on cars, it is quite easy to do. You are brave man to take this project on, good luck with it.
Hey Sam, I don't know much about fixing cars, especially exotic cars like the Ferrari you're working on now. I followed your previous Audi RS7 project (my favorite car ever, even though I own a Ford Focus 2013). I have never driven or been on a ride on any kind of fast/exotic car, but one day I'll hopefully get to drive a supercar or even better... a RS7 😅 (might get alot of hate for my love for the RS7) I just wanted to say I love watching you rebuild/fix these cars, please keep doing what you're already doing. Thanks for sharing your projects and skills with us. I wish you good luck with the Ferrari, I'm excited for the next update! Kind regards from Norway❤
I LOVE your video's! Very well done and interesting. One suggestion - you tend to do many video's on a single car (like your Range Rover). Can you consider adding all the episode links in the comments? It's tough to see what order the video's should go in and how many video's are related to a singe vehicle. Either way, keep up the great work!
little hint might be the dust under the top, they couldnt run it when it was down either, you could run it with the top on, but when you put it down, it didnt run again... try that, might work ;)
yay for electrical issues. you need to check for shorts and Opens in the wiring harness. also ditch the after market immobilizer. i guarantee that thing is doing to cause problems. most aftermarket anything that involves the CPU is bad news and a wiring nightmare.
Hadn't thought of that, but yeah..... that would actually make a lot of sense. Likely why the rods are missing as well. They were either already missing (hence the hood coming open while driving) or they broke when it happened. Good call.
man the balls on this guy , not only risk and buying a salvage ferrari but dig bones deep into it to try and diagnose the problem . good luck sam , excited to see how this project turns out to be mate
@@jimkirk989 lol hahahahahahaha true but on a serious note you always have to be careful when buying a Ferrari especially one with tinted front lights and blacked out cheap Wheels
Is the immobilizer aftermarket? Were any wires damaged by that floor push up? Maybe not enough to blow a fuse but to possibly send screwy signals to the immobilizer. It looks like it's shutting down the drive train which I would think is part of the immobilizer. Which seemed to give you trouble starting. It just might be a sequence thing as to why it won't move until it's reset by going through the proper start procedure. Great car, I missed (if you said), what you got the car for. But it looks like a great deal . Can you access that floor pan from the trunk? Maybe a panel or two. Then you could use like a 2"×2" to hammer the floor back into place with some blocks underneath to keep it from going to far. Don't have instagram but I'm enjoying this ! Not a fan of the color, but that could be remedied. Hey , it's a Ferrari !
I was kinda thinking the same thing it sounds like its only running half the engine, I wonder if the immobilizer is disabling one of the ecu's but the other is being enabled
I am glad others have the same thought as me. I am betting its an aftermarket immobilizer and there is a fault either where its wired into the factory wiring, or a fault within the immobilizer itself. First everything works, then engine starts and barely runs, then everything works again, then crank no start, then start but limp mode with MIL and no tach. The one thing in common with each scenario is starting the car. And what is involved with each startup? The immobilizer.
Immobilizer really wouldn't do this... The car wouldn't start if this were the case. Possible culprits could be the alarm module, which could be getting messed up thanks to a faulty lark siren. If so, it's a rather easy fix.
@Wilson Chin Chee Vui Because when you drive at highway speeds you get more cold air into the radiator. i think the manual is trying to say if your stuck in traffic moving slowly for a long time it could cause the car to overheat.

What's a rare thing to happen. :)
😆
Mark Wilko Not really .
@@Batman-wv5ng Sarcasm my dude
Yeah who ever heard of ANY European car having electrical issues?
Italian quality sucks... my 125cc scooter got a ducati ecu. It's a common problem that they fail.
It runned perfect ??
Proper procedure is ignition on, press fob, start car
Clearly the pizza warming unit is missing. Duh...
pizza. italian. i see wat u did der.
I love how you create these skits and then act them out for us on youtube! Keep it up.
Huh
That hood has been flipped while the car was being driven, I have seen this several times on cars, it is quite easy to do. You are brave man to take this project on, good luck with it.
whispjohn this.
this.
Hey Sam,
I don't know much about fixing cars, especially exotic cars like the Ferrari you're working on now.
I followed your previous Audi RS7 project (my favorite car ever, even though I own a Ford Focus 2013). I have never driven or been on a ride on any kind of fast/exotic car, but one day I'll hopefully get to drive a supercar or even better... a RS7 😅 (might get alot of hate for my love for the RS7)
I just wanted to say I love watching you rebuild/fix these cars, please keep doing what you're already doing.
Thanks for sharing your projects and skills with us.
I wish you good luck with the Ferrari, I'm excited for the next update!
Kind regards from Norway❤
Sam seams like a very nice guy and I hope he gets his new car all sorted and enjoys putting a few miles on it with the top down.. 👍
That is what he wants you to think! In reality he is... super nice? :)
FYI ; first thing first remove all aftermarket electronic . Second fuse , properly fix battery then start diagnostics
Yes, I'll start with that flimsy immobilizer.
There is probably a damaged wire in main harness in the area of the damage
I was thinking same, maybe a loose plug close to that too.
Kinda seems like a no-brainer there. Sharp broken aluminum beam, wiring harness crimped...
always love your videos but this Ferrari is a basket case. I'll be following to see the final outcome. Good Luck fella..
little hint might be the dust under the top, they couldnt run it when it was down either, you could run it with the top on, but when you put it down, it didnt run again... try that, might work ;)
yay for electrical issues. you need to check for shorts and Opens in the wiring harness.
also ditch the after market immobilizer. i guarantee that thing is doing to cause problems. most aftermarket anything that involves the CPU is bad news and a wiring nightmare.
I respect @samcrac for his ambition, but I think he's beyond his depth here.
He didn't even know how to put oil in the thing lol. Brutal.
@@MovieMuscle Or that it needed to be warm... damn...
This is a car detailers nightmare look at those swirls ;), lol, cant wait too see it finished :D
frrr worse than my 94 lexus
I think it's more likely they just forgot to latch the hood before hauling ass.
Exactly!
360, 575 & F50 are 3 of my favourite Ferrari made. You chose wisely sir.
Rob ferreti can get a 360 windscreen at 3.5k new from dealership. Ask him maybe ?
that hood flew open while driving sir, and your tach isnt working
Hadn't thought of that, but yeah..... that would actually make a lot of sense. Likely why the rods are missing as well. They were either already missing (hence the hood coming open while driving) or they broke when it happened. Good call.
Hood flew open and they got in a wreck. The wreck pushed up on the undercarriage and damaged the wiring.
Uptin Sinclaire How do you know so much bout the car?
man the balls on this guy , not only risk and buying a salvage ferrari but dig bones deep into it to try and diagnose the problem . good luck sam , excited to see how this project turns out to be mate
It sounds like you purchased a lemon Ferrari lol
Lemon?
But it's GREEN, wouldn't that make it a LIME Ferrari???
@@jimkirk989 lol hahahahahahaha true but on a serious note you always have to be careful when buying a Ferrari especially one with tinted front lights and blacked out cheap Wheels
@@CRXJDM88 That is just sacrilegious turning a Ferrari into a "RICER"!!!! JUST PLAIN WRONG!!!!!
Fact...
I think Sam will get it figured out,he knows what he is doing, auction state of mind, when it's done everyone is surprised how nice they turn out!!
Tavarish watched that top fold in perfectly and shot his monitor like Elvis.
lmao
If so, it's a rather easy fix.
wow that roof is such a beautiful mechanical master piece. Love how it folds!
This is not a joke. My awesome Alfa Romeo V6 manual says 'If the car overheats drive faster until the temperature returns to normal'
@Wilson Chin Chee Vui Because when you drive at highway speeds you get more cold air into the radiator. i think the manual is trying to say if your stuck in traffic moving slowly for a long time it could cause the car to overheat.
Busso? :) First thinh I thought about is to swap this intake manifold on a GTA 😍 that sounds so cool
Delete the aftermarket immo and the Problem is solved 👍🚗💨
that immo is stock ferrari. I've worked on a 2004 360 spyder myself, that car annoyed me every time I had to fix it, which was often, would always strand the owner
I bet the hood flew up when they were driving and went off-road jumping a curb.. and that foil in the oil! Get that change done at Goodyear did they? 🤣🤣🤣
DashCamIt jiffy lube
The fun thing is i actually get excited for u when the car is in a nice shape
Glad you followed up on the cliffhanger quickly. This is an interesting purchase. I look forward to seeing you work on it!
Normal people, looking at hood :"eh,just tiny dents, cant even see it "
Samcrac: *NOW THATS A LOTTA DAMAGE*
I wouldn't care for that damage on that hood. lol
@@dragnet53 honetlsy haha, on my Lexus i wouldn't consider that to bad but once the price goes up the damage gets worse lol

Dry heat vs wet heat. In florida our temps have been in the mid to high 90s at a humidity of 54% plus meaning it feels like 106/41 degrees. While your dry 108 feels like 101/38degrees its pretty bad
@@SethsPhone bro 40% humidity 43°C~53°C it's like an oven in the middle eastern desert between 11am to 5pm you can't even walk without a shoe/boot/etc. This heat usually starts at May and ends at November.
@@PESx4xEVER They have no idea what hot really is. The closest to saudi in the usa is phoenix az in july or death valley calif.
Did you not just hear yourself? The main wiring harness runs RIGHT where the damage is! Perhaps the wiring was DAMAGED??????
@Chris McRoy that'd defeat the purpose of a comments section no?
@Chris McRoy fuck off
Doubt it! More likely just a few poor connections from dust or corrosion!
I like this theory
When fixing a ferrari always use the "correct" hammer :)
Obviously owned by a non car guy who made it their hooptie mobile
As soon as you see tinted headlights, you know the owner is a clown.
I would bypass the aftermarket immobilizer. That can cause a ton of electrical Gremlins.
As a dealer first thing we did was remove them, more than bloody annoying and a great cause of dramas.
This is what it feels like being a programmer!
It doesn't work: why?
It works: why?
Yup, I know the feeling :)
Text Tavarish that your soft top actually goes up and down. 😂
The hood wasn't thrown open. It flew up during driving, WIND!! But very nice project so far!! Jealous!
It's not that it doesn't start it just idles at 0 rpm
DONT STOP WHAT YOU DO BRO !!!AMAZING !!
ask Daddy Ed Bolian, he knows alot of stuff
or Bob Spaghetti
The car is 1 in 4 in the color
meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?39484-Detailed-Ferrari-360-in-British-Racing-Green
Sounds like this is the car from the detailing thread and apparently the only one in that color with a black interior!
Boots N Pants They both know a lot of stuff, I’ll give you that but neither are the typento call with technical diagnostic questions. Both of them carry their tools in their wallets. That’s not to disrespect either of them, it’s just not their area of expertise.
Rob feretti is a 360 Modena expert.
Chris D yea it was back in 09 so it’s very possible that this is that car
That immobilizer needs to get tore out!
It needs psychiatric treatment 😃
an electrical issue on an Italian car? who would've guessed?
if you cut the battery or battery is empty F1 gearbox forgets how to work
BastAudio its a Fiat thing
I’m pretty sure the person didn’t latch the hood and it blew back causing them to crash into a puddle. There’s like muddy water all inside the engine compartment. I back up this assumption based on the foil from the oil that was found after draining the engine oil in part 1
It's the top it's not 100% locked down its stopping the car from moving.
I worked at a Ferrari dealership that was a HUGH issue on that make it's a cheap ass Chinese part.
Without being an auto elec, mechanic, or car buff, it seemed the obvious issue from a pure problem solving perspective. He said it himself, 'Its usually something we do!" although he thought it was overfilling the oil. You would have to put the top up again, and see if the problem persists, right? Everything seemed to work fine before he dropped the top.
@GARY JACQUES Nah, Gary. I'm not blindly following any opinion. I just know, if it was my project, that I would put the top up, and try again and see if it makes any difference. That being said, its not my project because I'm not good enough to tackle it, and I can't afford to. So I'm just an armchair fan, hoping to see it all work out!
@GARY JACQUES sure beats being out of a jar.
I guess, but shouldn't there be a warning light or something? My bet is on water ingress after washing. He suddenly got an ASR disabled warning to. And before he drove it out the tacho worked fine.
Seeing all the potential high cost problems you're running into, I can understand why people are opting at restoring cars of the '40 s, '50's, '60's, '70's and early '80's instead!
The fact that its an ORIGINAL verde British racing just blew my mind... what a gorgeous spec
Nelson Gonzalez I don’t think that’s original colour .
The paint code is still in the original spot from the factory it is original
It is the orginal colour. Very rare for an Italian and loads of people prefer red. It's that much that all red Ferrari went up through the roof in value and the other colours not. The British green made this car also a cheap buy because it's not a colour for a quick flip.
Mark van der Wel The colour doesn’t suit the car l think it’s more Jag.or Mini colour.
Respect for publicly admitting that you make mistakes. Something more people should emulate.
