Send it to todays sponsor, keeps.

Ratarossa's invoice(s) will bring the "estimated" total cost to $60,000.00
So I didn't get an answer on the last video but my question is: Towards the end of the video you were int here was still an engine misfire issue but it got resolved. Something about a relay? Can you elaborate? Great work by the way!
check's in the mail.
Hold on.... did you just use my photo for a hair loss prevention ad?

Answers: No to stop leak. Yes to leaving the paint as is and driving the hell out of it
Yeah I replaced the rear main seal in my f 150 and it still leaked a little bit( slowed the leak down a ton) then put rear main stop leak in it, and it did nothing
Agreed. With a part like this... just do it right. The last thing you want, Sam, is for that seal to blow on the road, and you don't need that stop leak gumming up other nooks and crannies in the oil system.
extra yes to pulling the engine and painting it ferrari red because that green looks horrible with the spec on this 360
Honestly I ran Bar's rear main seal stop-leak in a Lotus Esprit and it worked like a charm. Five years later and it's still fine, no complications. It's at least worth a try if you're already willing to do the full repair anyway. Worst case it doesn't work and you have to do the seal. But it's a fully chemical formula, so there's no particulates in there to clog anything (like head gasket sealer has) so it's really a risk-free option. And I would not want to tear that car down again after all that.
@@Dr.TJ_Eckleburg NOT a risk-free option. I'm an automotive engineer-if you put that crap in your high-performance car, God help you!
I really do like the color dude. It Un-douches the car tremendously.
100%
f-car people are weird though. Green looks great but it might be hard to sell. Red & tan seems to be the go-to if you want to make reselling easy.
foodiusmaximus IK I’m late but Clean title also seems to be the go-to
I love a green Ferrari.
Lmao
"Remember never fall in love with a salvage vehicle" ... Rich Rebuilds
Just keep a check on the oil and leave the rear main seal alone, until it's time for a clutch then do both
Exactly my thoughts
wouldn't bother with a bit of oil if the clutch has to come out in the next 10-15k miles anyway.
Dragonchiller for what I’ve seen ferrari’s don’t go 10k-15k miles without needing some repairs, he should try to fix right now, and don’t have to worry later.
edit: I mean fix it he right way from the the start and don’t go the cheap shady route
If Sam says it's leaking "A little" oil, it's probably a big puddle in the driveway. He's clearly afraid to do the real work of properly maintaining an exotic car (or paying to have it done). Much of the work he's already done could have been easily and more quickly done on the bench when the motor came out for the oil seal repair. Trying to cheap out, or take the easy way, often leads to wasted effort and doing things twice. For example, if it took him 8 hours to do the timing belts when the engine was in the car, he wasted at least 6 or 7 hours, because it's a slam dunk job when the motor is already on the bench. With cars like these, you don't cheap out on maintenance, and you do as much as you can when the engine or trans is out of the car.
Yes, use stop leak! Clog oil passages blow the engine then replace the whole thing. No need to mess with seals
Yea and maybe he will get an engine with a clutch on that has '60% life left' and save on the price of a new clutch 🤣
I've used stop leak on all my cars to make to seals swell. No issues
You have to put *sarcasm in your post somewhere, or else how will we know???
you don't understand how oil stop leak works. It swells the seals and doesn't have stuff in it to clog passages. It's not like a radiator stop leak.
BLISSFUL FAPPER make sense. I would still test products before using on Ferrari engine. Probably more useful for orings and gaskets. main seal is really thin and most of time the compression spring is stretched
Honestly I think it's a great deal, and I'll tell you why. You can actually drive this car and not worry about devaluing it. You will enjoy it more I think. You are also learning a lot about this and other Ferrari. That knowledge is value. All told, you are getting to enjoy a Ferrari guilt free, you have pride in what you've been able to do, and who cares what other people say. As long as you are happy with the results and are enjoying this car, you are coming out ahead.
That was a good deal, Sam. Thanks for sharing your 360 with us. Drive it and enjoy it!
Having an expert fly in from England to fix it for free is not something most of us can do.
Definitely true but the assessment of the cost is legit for people who are involved in automotive with good connects. There are lots of people who repair and build cars and they have a network of people to get help from. This is definitely not something everyone can do like you said.
Well, true, but also his connections made by his UA-cam family is Similar to the connects one gets when exploring your local people who are in the automotive trades
He accounted for the cost of the service that Ratarossa performed into his final tally. True, most of us cannot do this, but we can all get the same service performed by a reputable mechanic.
Since you’re going for a stock look, please remove the tint from the rear lights
Uhh... why? I hope he doesn't.
Nice, Sam. So glad the interior carbon fiber is coming out. It really cheapened the look of the interior.
Congrats on finally finishing this rebuild/repair. The first time I ever saw one of your vids you were talking about overfilling the oil level. I then went back and watched most of your vids on the pizza car, lambo, etc. Thanks for the good content.
I honestly love that you overfilled the oil cuz it proves you're a relatively normal guy and that you don't need to be a wizard to do some of these things
It's just a Ferrari, it'll be fine. As to Samcrac being a relatively normal guy...hmm.
Do not ruin the engine oil system with stop leak.
It might seal it for now, but six months from now it'll be leaking everywhere. Just say no.
Yep. No easy way out. Good luck to your valvetrain and anything else the oil touches @samcrac
i agree with it. u spend so much time and appox 10k on it , dont spoil its engine as it got real low milage.
Lol stop leak doesn't ruin engines, it works by making the seals swell, and in his situation it's totally worth it. I've used it on all my cars. The only issue I could see is it making the oil slightly thicker, but I only use a third of a bottle if that and it still works. I've saved time and money with transmission seals, and hard to get to engine seals. There's a time and a place to use products sometimes
@@devilmonkey yeah. it uses solvents to make the seals swell and stop the leaks but those solvents evaporate and the seal shrinks back but now with a worse gap, making it pour oil.
Every serious car enthusiast wants a Ferrari at least once in their life. To have a mechanically sound 430 for $47K is INCREDIBLE, even with all the personal labor (of love) involved. CONGRATULATIONS SAMCRAC!!!
At one point I thought you were going to give up on this project. Well done!
I'd like to see this Ferrari performing in the street just to close this chapter and continue the fun!

Personally I’d remove the tint on the rear lights too and that would really finish the rear off nicely!

This Ferrari was why I started watching your channel. I'm not even a car guy. I'd love to see it all finished.
How much did you pay to fly out, put up and employ ratarossa? That should most definitely be included in the final cost.
Probably did it in exchange for content.
Why should he pay him? I’m sure samcrac woidl do it free too
I'm guessing that as the knowledge of what was needed to be done was shared here, if you were to do the same project at home, you'd have the knowledge here, so it's not relevant to add the expert advice. I think this makes sense. The $10k of parts and transport is a fair number to give you a sense of what it takes. Of course every project will be different, and so whatever expert advice would be different too. You could go to the extreme and add the price of phone calls to the parts suppliers ... the cost of delivery of parts ... the cost of petrol and wear and tear on your vehicle driving to/ from suppliers etc etc. It's very possible the advice and help from Ratarosa could have been supplied offline in a forum or something (I'm guessing as a super enthusiast he's only too happy to help problem solve on various forums ). So it might take you longer to get there, but you'd get there in the end.

Got a chuckle that the guy who used rivets and panel bond to fix the floor is critiquing someones speaker install.
One fix is seen and one isn't.
Ya really. Wtf?
@@suburbanhobbyist2752 exactly! These guys would have no clue he fixed the floor that way but he's honest and legit so he shows everything. That floor will be fine and will not cause any problems moving forward. Yet everyone has to rip the guy because they are all so perfect. Sam is a smart dude and knows what he should spend big money on and what can be done cheaply. I respect his honesty.
@Charlie Vetsworth lol there isn't one. His fix will work and last just fine. They're just being snobs.
Drive it until it stops. You have spent enough on it. Screw the re-spray. Just drive it and enjoy it.
NO to the stop leak , Do the job properly , then it won’t come back to haunt you
Don't worry I'm sure he'll do it anyways then rub it in everyone's faces every chance he gets just like that hack job of a floor repair.
As he said, he just want the 15% out of it, BEFORE doing it properly.
The question is, what would happen if he did. Personally I think he should, so far I understand, this channel is about learning. :)
I once put four ounces of DOT3 brake fluid into a Lamborghini Countach (with owner's concurrence) to cause some seal swelling in order to forestall a rear main seal replacement.
It worked better than expected, caused no other problems, and the "repair" lasted for over ten years, after which he sold the vehicle to someone in China.
@@edwatts9890 how the actual fuck do you people know this stuff. I've been a mechanic for a little over a year and there's still so much to learn and I thought I knew alot
@@calzone9033: Well, get some more time on the job. One can learn a lot from workmates and a lot more from reading and actually doing the work. I thought I knew a lot after a year or two. Heh.
Also, clean up your language; customers (and bosses!) don't want to hear that.
I think what you've done here is really impressive and demystifies (a little) what it is to fix a Ferrari.

That is what I would do. It is only a drip.
@@ShilohRowden Exactly! It's not going to be perfect. He needs to just enjoy it at this point.
Agree
Depends on how bad it's leaking, but yes, if it's minor. This isn't a Camry.
I may be repeating what others have said but I'll add; "better the devil you know." You've dug sooo deep into this beauty that any problems after this will be minor in comparison. Short of a fire, that is. Great channel Samcrac! keep at it!
A Teflon based oil additive can stop leaks without destroying the engine.
So, too, can a "proper" repair using the correct parts. In the case of Italian automobiles, however, the "correct" parts are those with "standard" part numbers which have very broad application.
"Anyone could do this", no, you had a lot of help and you yourself stated that you could not have done it otherwise..
I thought the exact same thing.
He meant to say that any youtuber could do this. Everybody knows that means other channels will do it for you. Unless you are B is for Build, in which case Oscar will do it.
It’s not impossible. He wants it done faster, so he gets help
He clearly give the cost he would of paid if he didn't get the free help! Anyone can get a car fixed or buy new parts and fit them themselves. He isnt saying just youtube channels. Car enthusiasts I think he mean't, you know, his target and only audience as its a car rebuild channel!
No I mean anyone can do this. Just because I have interesting people come in to help with these projects doesn't mean it's impossible to do, but work is always better done with multiple people. If you're in to cars, maybe you have a friend who is also in to cars. Anyone can do what we've done on this build. The only specialty thing was done by Specialized ECU repair and I mentioned and included their cost in the final number. If you can turn a wrench you can do this. Don't limit yourself.
I thought rear main seal leaks were a dealer-installed option.
No. It's factory installed.
Like ball joints on a ford the factory installs the broken ones.
Jake 👆fact!
Its also an option on Porsches and to be fair on any car that's not an EV ;-)

Well you already glued a piece of aluminum to a Ferrari's floor ? Why not add stop leak to the engine oil ? Lol.
I thought the same thing. That fix still bugs me.cram a srick under the carpet as a heatsheild and weld it properly.
That's what I am saying - fuck it at this point - it's worth a shot.
Does his fix in anyway impact the suspension or integrity of the vehicle? That small little area is not going to cause some catastrophic disaster and you'd never know but he's honest and shows everything he does. His rebuilds all seem great to me, and although he takes shortcuts, that's the point of a salvaged vehicle. You can take those shortcuts that do the job but aren't allowed by insurance companies. Stop being so negative. 47k all in for this car isn't bad.

The 360 is one of the most usable and sensible Ferraris, when sorted you'll have a reliable car for a bargain price. Magic to drive and the 430 is basically the same car with a few different panels. This is probably one of the first Ferraris that were reliable, handled properly and didn't rust away as it is aluminium. Also very practical as it doesn't have bits of bodywork and wheels that get scuffed in normal use. At the end of the day though, you could have probably bought one properly maintained, for about the same price, but then we would have missed the entertainment. I was jumping about when you put all that oil in, but if you never had a dry sump car before, how would you know not to check the oil without the engine running? Keep up the good work. I watch you, Tavarish, Videobob, and Rich rebuilds. Keep up the good work!

* Don't do the rear main seal right now unless it is leaking more than a couple drops every day.
* While not perfect; polishing, sealing, waxing, and coating will bring out the beauty of that Ferrari paint even more. A respray may actually look worse.
* Since it sounds like you are keeping it long term, buy the nicer tires now so you don't put it into a tree cause the cheap tires lost traction suddenly.
* Make sure you let the transmission warm up a little in 1st gear before you shift into 2nd.
* These like to be driven hard once in a while. Just be nice (no launches!!)
