I'm not torlling, but filling dents without "pulling" them out for minimize the filling layer will lead to cracks, especially on the roof, hood and trunk that have direct sunlight. In my opinion its even worse then the Louis Vuitton cover.
I was wondering about that. He didn't really show what the dents looked like prior to filling them, up close, but basically, I was thinking the same thing.
As you appropriately removed the headliner, a "door dent" guy could have dealt with all of the roof hail damage without disturbing the paint. Same for most of the other panels, however replacement trunk lids and hood are a good way for these.

Rather than spending my own money, I'd much rather see Samcrac spend his money on these cars and deal with their issues and make enjoyable videos for us to watch. It's far more relaxing for me that way. ;-)

People bash on the Maserati QP because they are buying the wrong one. The Maserati QP Sport GTS after 2009 with 4.7 Liter V8 is an amazing car. Its looks are updates and look way better. It has sports suspension, which may be uncomfy, gives you more of a Ferrari feel plus the sound is probably one of the best ever period. It's why top gear called it a 4 door supercar and I bet if Doug Demuro would review one his opinion would probably change on the QP

As the name states he works from his home garage repairing Maseratis. He has appeared on Wheeler Dealers: Series 10 episode 5 in 2014 (2000 3200 GT throttle body refurb) with Mike Brewer...as well as being a mechanic on Top Gear UK! Watching you do bodywork made my eyes bleed, you needed to block that paint out a lot more, feather out all the paint edges before you started in with the filler, I could write you a novel on how to do it, I used to own two body shops. But hey, fair play for having a go.
Technically it is not Ferrari red but Italian Racing red, Back in the early days of motor racing Masarati cars were red and the leading Ferrari driver was a Brazilian so his car was blue with a yellow nose.

Use Honda’s Sonic Grey, it is a very tasteful grey, almost like Nardo Grey but with a hint of green and blue. It’s a very underrated and beautiful color!!
The original color is very beautiful, I'd keep it. While the headliner was out, I'd have tapped out/pulled out roof dings before filling them to minimize use of fillers that should be expected to expand/contract differently than metal does in that hot Florida sun.
U gotta feather out your grind spots before u throw bondo in there and instead of doing spaces between each bondo spot give it one long wipe otherwise it will be impossible to get straight

Personally, I love the blue color of the original. Lamborghinis look right in ostentatious colors. Maserati sedans don’t. Painting a wild color on this would be like painting a wild color on a Taurus station wagon.

Samcrac, when you're standing a roof, buy a roll of masking tape and put down a few layers on the top of the windshield and back glass. Also drop the sunroof and mask the hole up if you're worried about a dusty interior. A roll of tape and some paper or plastic is a lot cheaper than any of those pieces of glass! Love your videos!
A candy apple metal flake red or brandy wine over a metallic silver base would go good with the tan interior, or repaint the original blue that would look nice with the tinted windows. Have fun with your project. The wrap it came in made it look like it was gift wrapped or it was still in its pajamas. :) I enjoy all your videos, thank you for making them. Color-shifting paint? Yes! I've used a 1972 (i think) Lincoln Contintal Ginger Bronze Metallic. You can find pictures online of Contintentals with 12-ft long flat hoods painted with this color. But that was a waste! This color is a heavy metallic, which appears a medium 'warm' brown when it's not in direct sunlight. But in direct sunlight the color changes to a Copper Metallic - and looks just like a shined copper penny! I've had this paint on a Camaro and a Chevelle - the Camaro looked better because its surfaces have more curvature. Buy a quart and try it out on an old fender which has good curvature and see what you think!
I‘m probably the only one who thinks like this but years ago I saw a Quattroporte in Ferrari’s Yellow and since then I always thought that this yellow is a great color for this car
ValoRossi91146 my buddy’s dad had a 2011 and was thinking of getting a Maserati suv and while at the autoshow he asked if he could see the pricing on one and what colours it comes in, The representative there was quick to note that this is a luxury brand and the car is $80k and basically turned him down bc they didn’t want to waste their time. This is when my buddy’s dad mentioned he has a Maserati already, They tried to make excuses but we walked away.
Exterior: Midnight Blue Metallic, or if possible some form of m̶i̶n̶d̶f̶*̶c̶k̶ ̶b̶l̶a̶c̶k̶VantaBlack goodness. For bonus street cred, matte black all the acoutremants & accents for the car. Interior: Starlight LED headliner w/Daybright override when you need to find something in the dark of night. And as for hail damage: it can actually increase mileage.
Daimler/Chrysler had a color a few years ago that would really set off the shape of the Maserati body and would work well with the interior color. It was an extremely bright copper color with a heavy metallic content.
I know you’ve given up on this car now due to cost, but you should consider a wrap to honor the LV wrap (R.I.P.). If you want something loud but not bank breaking, do a mirrored wrap or something wild like that! Or maybe something matte would be awesome too.
One good thing - if you buy them used on the resell market, you can take advantage of their deep depreciation and get a pretty fun car to drive for a fraction of european counterparts...
I fixed hail damage like this. At this point you'd want to use a very loose glazing filler and skim the whole roof. Every dent is raised up around the perimeter of the dent and you'll see all that come through unless you smooth it all out as a whole panel.
I totally agree. My manager was almost begging someone to take his. Ended up trading it in for a genesis G70. If you chose Maserati over a 911 turbo you don’t deserve to have money 😂
Unless I was pulling the engine to paint the bay then I'd paint it the stock color. When I get a car painted I have to have it match everywhere as I hate different color door jambs, inner trunk or engine bays. Granted the one time I had a car painted it cost me more but that was fine. The starlight headliner is goofy & already played out.

I would do a Ferrari color, the 488 comes in a blue that is not navy but also not electric, a bit louder but still classy..... and I am sure you can get it mixed way cheaper than buying a Ferrari color..... I'm not a paint guy but its a great color!!! And I bought a heavily hail damaged boxster at auction many years ago for $2200, I pulled a few of the bigger dents and hammered some I could get at then we did kind of a rat rod patina and I drove it like that, with no top, for 3 summers, it was awesome and super fun, and actually got some really positive attention!
Sorry Sam but one of the best cars I ever had was a Maserati Gransport, which I moved to from a 911 C4. People go on about the f1 system, it perfect as long as you drive it manually and not in automatic.
Should of tried heating each dent with a torch in a circular pattern around the perimeter . It shrinks the metal and pops the dent out . Seen it somewhere once.
Every time I see that Ferrari I love that it's such an unusual color. Then I realize that by the time it's done he's going to have easily spent $10k-$20k more buying and fixing the car than he would have if he had just bought a sorted out 360 spider for $75k-$80k. Of course then he wouldn't have had so much content, and I suppose that might actually tip the balance a bit...

You know i watch alot of auto channels an i just wanted to say i do really enjoy yours you really got alot of variety an that keeps it fresh keep up the good work.
If you want something stock but vibrant I would try verde deep emerald metallic, also if you want custom You might want to try pouring two pearlescent colours into the paint cup not mixing and spraying on.
Sure most of the styling hasn’t changed on the gran turismo for 10 years but they have changed it a bit between 2014/15 with a different bumper. And the old Maseratis are quite good as an example look at the biturbo it was one of the first production cars with a sequential twin turbocharged engine

I saw an Aston DBS painted Rosso Corsa from factory and looked amazing. I think it would suit this car with blacked out bits really well.

I fixed hail damage like this. At this point you'd want to use a very loose glazing filler and skim the whole roof. Every dent is raised up around the perimeter of the dent and you'll see all that come through unless you smooth it all out as a whole panel.
I totally agree. My manager was almost begging someone to take his. Ended up trading it in for a genesis G70. If you chose Maserati over a 911 turbo you don’t deserve to have money 😂

You want a loud color? Safety Green. Especially if you can get UV reactive, like a safety vest is :D
That shade of blue is very nice, maybe a lighter metallic blue base with some color shifting tints with silver accents
Unless I was pulling the engine to paint the bay then I'd paint it the stock color. When I get a car painted I have to have it match everywhere as I hate different color door jambs, inner trunk or engine bays. Granted the one time I had a car painted it cost me more but that was fine. The starlight headliner is goofy & already played out.

I would do a Ferrari color, the 488 comes in a blue that is not navy but also not electric, a bit louder but still classy..... and I am sure you can get it mixed way cheaper than buying a Ferrari color..... I'm not a paint guy but its a great color!!!
And I bought a heavily hail damaged boxster at auction many years ago for $2200, I pulled a few of the bigger dents and hammered some I could get at then we did kind of a rat rod patina and I drove it like that, with no top, for 3 summers, it was awesome and super fun, and actually got some really positive attention!

Sorry Sam but one of the best cars I ever had was a Maserati Gransport, which I moved to from a 911 C4. People go on about the f1 system, it perfect as long as you drive it manually and not in automatic.

Should of tried heating each dent with a torch in a circular pattern around the perimeter . It shrinks the metal and pops the dent out . Seen it somewhere once.
Every time I see that Ferrari I love that it's such an unusual color. Then I realize that by the time it's done he's going to have easily spent $10k-$20k more buying and fixing the car than he would have if he had just bought a sorted out 360 spider for $75k-$80k. Of course then he wouldn't have had so much content, and I suppose that might actually tip the balance a bit...

Paint the Maserati Ferrari red since the vents are already red. That would be a savings and a great story for the next owner.

If you want something stock but vibrant I would try verde deep emerald metallic, also if you want custom You might want to try pouring two pearlescent colours into the paint cup not mixing and spraying on.
Sure most of the styling hasn’t changed on the gran turismo for 10 years but they have changed it a bit between 2014/15 with a different bumper. And the old Maseratis are quite good as an example look at the biturbo it was one of the first production cars with a sequential twin turbocharged engine
