highschoolers??? I've written stories identical to this in deadass elementary school 💀 like seriously a decent middle school student writes better than this, even against their will.
“Once upon a time a hot woman settled for an average looking guy, and accepted & loved absolutely everything about him, despite that not being how healthy relationships work. He then rewarded her by being secretly wealthy (which she was surprisingly ecstatic about, considering how adamant she was before about money not mattering). Then he was promoted to Very Wealthy, and they drove away in an ostentatious car while the whole restaurant gave them a standing ovation. Also the gold digger got struck by lightning, but she deserved it for being a gold digger. The end.” Literally Every Dhar Mann story.
It's interesting that some people frown upon women marrying someone much wealthier than them and assume those women are gold diggers, yet many people still hold the antiquated belief that it's improper for a woman to make more money than her husband. What are women supposed to do?
Yep. My parents divorced because of that antiquated belief. My mom was the breadwinner, because she was a degreed professional. My dad did odd jobs because he was a high school dropout.

You're right. In these sketches the non-materialistic girl gets rewarded with....material possessions. Even though women who were interested in material possessions are bad. reminds of religious movies with all of that circular logic and melodrama
Only broke men complain about gold diggers because they CANT offer money. Rich men are usually generous and love spending money on women. You see it all the time in the media, how many famous people will fly out someone to come across the country? Or to another country? You don’t ever see rich men complaining, especially older rich men, because they know they can’t just benefit from having a beautiful woman that’s pleasant to be around without contributing something. Broke men want beautiful and high class women and they want those women to lower their standards so those women can be attainable to them.
The thing about gold digging is it’s 95% of the time a two way agreement. If a guy doesn’t want to attract women who want him for his money, why would he try to use money to impress beautiful 22 year olds?
The only explanations that come to mind is a lack of imagination, or a lack of self-respect. For those that lack imagination, they can’t visualize any alternative to transactional eroticism & ego-stroking, so they go along with a hollow path and never really try to get out. For those that really don’t think highly of themselves, they’re stuck in a painful cliche that all they have to offer as a person is $$$ and take this pain out on others.

The thing I realized about Dhar Mann’s storytelling is this: He tells stories the way they used to tell stories in Church. There’s almost no nuance and everything gets tied up real tidy in unrealistic ways for the protagonists while the antagonists have to be demolished by life. No wonder he does so well on social media.

These videos actually changed my life. I was a gold digger for hundreds of years, but after watching Dhar man I instantly regretted it and went on a date with a man who didn’t order bottle service at ihop. That man was Steve Jobs.
Actually I am pissed off that they show this "gold digger" trope as being only female. I am female and I recently had a boyfriend leave me because I was not doing well in my studies and not earning money or having a successful career. He didn't want gifts from me but everything else fit the gold digger trope. If he had said "I can't be with you because I need someone financially stable" it would be one thing. But he strung me along while waiting to find a girl with more money or just in case I do get successful. I would love it if my life turns into a gender swapped Dhar Mann video lol. That he sees me in several years and I have a good career and he's like "we could back together again you know" but I have a great husband already. That would be cool.
men were the one who wanted women to sit at home and look pretty while they worked so now if women r attracted to financial stability its their fault 🥴
This a little outdated and it is overgeneralization. Men are aware that now women are a lot more career driven and successful too, some of them even support it greatly. To be dependent on someone's credit card is not an argiment of actually winning in a debate which tackles how moral or immoral is for a woman to manipulate a man for his money.
I think she meant the way women are portrayed in these Dhar Mann videos that repeatedly show women being financially dependent on men then proceed to make them golddiggers. You can't have it both ways.
That’s exactly my issue with his videos. It’s always, “Be nice to people who look homeless because they may secretly be rich.” Homeless people who are actually homeless deserve respect, too.

The moment a man attains means, gold diggers are the very first thing they seek out. Men SAY they don’t like gold diggers, but their actions prove otherwise.
Men who are worried about gold diggers are usually the type that a gold digger wouldn't want. Wealthy men know what's up. Why do people think they need protecting, lol. It's weird to me.

Plot twist: this was a PSA about stealthy gold diggers. The friend was the real one the whole time. She'd done some recon, knew who he was, and her friend was there to make her look better by comparison. That's why she ignoring how sexist he was
I even thought , the blonde girl doesn't want the friend to ride back with someone she doesn't even know ... because that's only right . But suddenly it becomes all about the car and the 'nice-girl' also cares about the nice car only because, "Don't judge a book by its cover"
I love how the non-gold-diggers win by getting what the gold-diggers want in the end anyway, because he believes all women are ultimately superficial and greedy.
Exactly! Like in the one where the guy got promoted, he instantly gave his fiancée a better ring and a better car. Because of course women only cared about material things, even though they are not gold digger. Personally, I wouldn't be moved if I was in the woman's position. The guy can of course spend his money the way he wants, but if the car is still functional, I would prefer to invest the money or at least save it for something more practical. Secondly, where's the logic? The guy just got promoted, so he probably hasn't receive his pay raise yet. And where did the ring and the car even come from? How did he have the time to buy those things between going into the meeting and learning about his promotion? Unless he already knew it beforehand.
According to Dhar Mann, the universally "good ending" for all these female characters is living a luxurious life by way of being married to a rich and successful guy- the only thing setting the "bad" women apart from the "good" is that they actively pursued that end goal, whereas for the "good" women it's just a fortunate extra that they weren't looking for but happened to passively fall onto their lap. So- again, according to Dhar Mann here- as a woman, I'm allowed to have nice things as long as I'm not actively trying to get them. I too, can have a luxurious life as long as I'm not ambitious. Cool.
@@petiteange08 exactly, that stressed me out. Like I'd be sad if the car of our whole relationship that worked fine was just gone, they bought a brand new car that immediately drops in value, and bought an expensive ring without getting paid. No. That's how you don't manage money and stay broke.

One thing i’m suddenly noticing is that they consistently make the woman out to be the villain for wanting diamond rings, expensive cars, steak and wine, etc. Her wanting these things is what makes her shallow. But when the man suddenly gets really rich and is able to provide these things, he’s not seen as shallow for giving these same exact things to his new girlfriend. There’s no questioning in what makes these items valuable as gifts, it’s just that it’s only bad to want these things if you’re a woman.
I agree that making a story highlighting giving them to another girlfriend is quite weird... that's some strange cognitive dissonance shit or I don't know what. That guy is very strange in general. BUT wanting certain products for yourself only if/when you go to work and earn the money for them is very different than wanting them to be gifted to you. Someone considering those different things would not be being hypocritical.
@@gavinjenkins899 working to get it yourself and merely wanting it is different, true, but the stories never bother to question why people want them other than their association with wealth. This association is also apparently what makes them great gifts for women, but wanting them as a woman makes you shallow. It’s only ok to recieve things when you’re a woman but making your wants known is painted as bad, and the fact the stories *never* have women working to get these things at all is itself really telling.
@Arthur Frayn I'm not "confused" about anything, I just am saying I think you're wrong about the facts here. Most kids are from marriages > Kids are expensive > Dads (and probably also moms too) work more than they would if not parents to scramble to pay for expensive kids > statistics end up showing married men as earning more as a result of a third variable not directly related to gender dynamics: expensive kids
Anyone else disturbed by the fact that his idea of the roles being reversed have to do with fertility and not money? There's multiple plotlines just like this but it's a woman not being able to have children and the man knocking up another woman, feels like Dharr Mann thinks men's value is in the money they earn and women's is in the ability to bear children, gross.
Dhar man reminds me of every guy in my school who thought himself to be a intellectual but actually just spouts vaguely progressive stuff by putting down others

I even had a couple of shitty 'friends' who would insult my intelligence and denigrate me in the third person as though I wasn't even present, despite the fact that I was literally sitting with them. They did it because they wrongly assumed that I wouldn't be hip to social cues, as I am a high functioning autistic/Aspie. In certain parts of history, I could have earned a saint like status or been burned as a witch. Social and economic factors, including rarity, race, class etc. motivated the way the bias swayed. A lot of the pushing of blonde hair signifying innocence and purity does have a racial bias behind it, which should be acknowledged. I think the real reason Dhar Man chose (mostly) artificial blondes to play his villain women was just because it's a lazy "bougie" stereotype. His casting of women in general is filled with a lot of stereotypes, but I appreciate how at least the gold diggers' age matches the man's in most cases

You have to consider the source whenever you hear “women are [blank]”. I was listening to a guy complain that women are immature and gold diggers, but then he complained how these college girls who think they’re hot shit will age. I've had two partners label me as a gold digger despite the fact they were broke and I was the one paying the bills. I had another partner who was wealthy who dragged the old and tired gold digger label out and used it as an excuse when he wanted to trade me in for a younger model. During the course of our 4 year relationship I remained financially independent and never was into or asked him to buy me designer items (although he attempted to thinking that's what all women want). It's the mindset of certain men that they cling to regardless of objective facts. Sad losers regardless of the size of their wallet.
I would like to add another thing about “gold diggers” “Gold diggers” are always blonde, white and wear revealing clothing so I grew up thinking that if I see any women who is blonde and wears revealing clothing they are gold diggers. Which that’s not true u can be modest and not blonde and be a gold digger. Also we’re always blaming women for being gold diggers but not blame the guy for using the girl for her looks
Doesnt this all read like capitalist propaganda lolllll? "Want to make your ex wish she stayed? start a business today! " "Want the girls in LA to be jealous of your partner? Buy a club!" "Want the women who rejected you to wish they had stayed for the money? Switch out your current car for a Rolls Royce!"
nailed it. businessmen often do vids like these as part of ad campaigns for their 'entrepreneur help' companies. it's promo basically for the kind of business he's in.
Why don't we as a society give the same amount of energy we give to gold diggers as we do to men who use women until they're financially stable (aka "a come up") then dump them?
I didn't know this was a Black thing, just look at celebrities. I'm surprised when I see a famous man married to a woman his own age or one he's been with before he got famous. Like Samuel L. Jackson and Keanu Reeves are the only ones I can think of.
Dhar Mann has this weird thing where the nice person is actually insanely wealthy. Like almost every time one of the characters says something like “money doesn’t matter” or “don’t judge a book by its cover” and then it turns out that money actually DOES matter, because it will just land on your lap and then everything will be perfect.
These are so unrealistic, I love that the ‘instant regret’ is the friend suddenly being rich, like wtf? Plus doesn’t that kind of contradict the point in these 🤣
Umm, no. Not at all. The friend isn't in a relationship solely for the purpose for money, so no point is contradicted. Also, wanting to be rich is not being a gold digger.
This is teaching women to stick around in hopes men will one day be rich and successful.... that doesn't always happen and you should like the guy nonetheless
More than that, to be with someone regardless of how stable they are. How will that work when you want a secure house and kids? Downright irresponsible.
Memememe women are so independent nowadays, I cant possibly feel like a man with a woman earning as much as I do. Memememe women are just gold diggers nowadays. Decide for once what you want to cry about
I've never understood the hate towards "gold diggers". Like, if he gets to use her for her body then I think she gets to use him for his money. If he can invade her temple she can invade his bank account! 💃💸 P.S. Those vegetable shopping guinea pigs did in fact make me scream. 😃
It’s so weird to me that these men are supposed to be good catches when like they aren’t financially stable, yet still are trying to start their own business, and in at least one example ask where a woman wants to go for dinner and then is like: oof sorry that’s a no go, how bout Denny’s. And literally the only other thing they have to offer is, “But...Babe. Babe, wait!” Um... idk man, maybe let the dream go if your business has been failing for years, you’re dead broke because of your bad financial decisions, and it’s ruining your life. I’m not saying you should get into relationships for money but acting like financial stability in a partner isn’t important for reasons other than being shallow, when one of the most common reasons relationships fail is money trouble, is just strange.
It depends what you view as financial instability. These characters seem to do fine living within their means. I only don’t like where it shows them being all flashy with their money as soon as they get it. That gives me more of a red flag warning than anything. It shows irresponsibility and a lack of foresight. Lol but maybe that’s just reading too deep into Dhar Mann 😅
And it's also like : either some woman "helps him in every step to reach where he is" ( he can't probably help himself ) , or he gets just another pretty woman as a trophy after he is successful ( this woman might be a gold digger as well !) . Weird. Where in reality , business doesn't suddenly flourish after a break up , it takes time and patience. And very often women who help men through study and bad financial decisions , get dumped in the end for a prettier woman who has nothing more to offer . These stories look very very childish.
here's my take...while these vids are overblown and stereotypical, you're very quick to assume what it's like to start a business. Also, financial problems can't be blamed on the man entirely. There's a lot of factors going into things like these. A lot of people look to save money when going for a startup so they don't purchase things they can otherwise afford. Just like how we can't assume all 'golddiggers' are just shallow liars, it's wrong to assume men with financial problems somehow deserve to be mistreated. Try not to defend the villain so much --- she's a hypothetical one dimensional character after all.

@Judy Mwanzo Right? And women also only care about status symbols that are given to them from men instead of getting it for themselves? Just... what? Most women I know irl who VERY loosely resemble these weird stereotypes, don't need a boyfriend to get them things like that because they already have them cause either their filthy rich parents already give them those things and or they just already live in those kind of circles. They already live in that culture and they run with guys who are also already in that culture. "Gold diggers" are making an exchange and the men they're with generally already know that. And not to mention, these men actively want and seek out women like this. I'd say it's pretty even. In these goofy churchy feel good rub it in your face videos "nice guys" only exist to find a trophy wife they can flex with and never seem to have any standards for themselves either, other than that they want a girlfriend that doesn't complain and will go along with all of his life choices instead of seeking her own + revenge ending as if that still makes them a nice guy.
The message with these is confusing. “Women shouldn’t think wealth is the most important thing about men, even though all important men eventually become wealthy.”
Ever notice Dhar Mann's fixation on the platinum blonde actress that always plays the gold digger/evil babysitter/spoiled girl? He absolutely has some kind of perverted fixation on her where he's obsessed with her getting "what she deserves". I don't know if she's a stand-in for a woman he once knew or if he has some kind of sick power fetish and loves watching her get humiliated, but it's creepy. I don't recall her ever playing the protagonist or having a happy conclusion.
Let’s address another issue. When many of these women stay with these broke men as soon as the men become rich they leave them for “hotter” girls. If the women had stayed in this video, there was no guarantee the men wouldn’t have dumped them five minutes after becoming a millionaire
It's so confusing how he writes the women as villains for wanting financial succes in the men, but then write the men as the heroes by .... making them achieve financial succes? It's so contradictory
@@alyssapinon9670 Ah, makes sense. But there's women who also hide behind the feminist label just to be shitty to men. And it's sad that people use activism as a way to be a bigot to the opposite group, not because they actually care. Right-wingers, for example.
everyone here talking about the California gold rush and this "Dharman" (who has no affiliation with Darkman, starring the great Liam Neeson), but NO ONE is talking about that POWERFUL sweater. It's like all of Kurt Cobain's wardrobe sewn into one piece.
Dhar man’s channel is basically just those “hated child becomes hybrid princess” gacha videos from a few years back only with slightly higher production quality
I like how all those videos imply that money still is the most important thing, the only bad thing seems to be women who don't want to wait until a man's business idea takes off. I wonder if that was based off anything....
Lmao imagine if he is projecting That maybe in the past While he Wasnt famous, a Girl didnt like him and so she rejected him, and now that he is rich he wants to get back to her even tho she problably couldnt care less.
It’s weird that in these stories women aren’t meant to like expensive things but the reward for being “loyal” is always expensive things. Also it’s unbelievably obvious he’s been hurt by a blonde woman before.
These videos are so weird because it's like, not even saying it's bad to be shallow. The moral is essentially "you should've waited it out, because nice people always get rich eventually--and being rich is still important."
Dahr Mann has 100% made a sketch where he pulls the whole "disabled people are inspirational" thing. I can feel it. I can feel it in my bones. He also definitely did a sketch where a person has a disability, but the disability is presented as actually being a good thing, and that you get some sort of weird power from it to balance out the disability, because the moral was supposed to be "disabled people aren't less deserving as other people" but Dahr Mann can't comprehend the fact that someone can be unable to do certain things while also being just as good as everyone else. Also the disability is super misportrayed. Like a kid has autism or something but they just scream a lot and say weird things that don't make sense to anyone else, and we're supposed to just accept that that's autism. This is all 100% true. He has done all these things. There's just no way he hasn't. His content screams "Story format that is supposed to convey a moral but is just copied from other slightly less horrible pieces of media a thousand times over so the moral makes no sense now."
I was literally having a midnight conversation with myself about this. I told myself (who is such a a great listener btw) that gold diggers are only bad when they actively trick people, but how common is that? In a society that glorifies luxury lifestyle without providing the necessary resources for anyone without generational wealth to participate in that lifestyle, why is it bad when someone pursues wealth?
To be honest my problem with these videos is that they have HAHA GET OWNED energy, which is fine as a one-off, but a more beneficial video would involve character growth for the villains. I feel that watching these one-dimentional charactitures break out of their ways and into something more likeable would leave some people feeling inspired to actually do better for themselves.
One of those videos actually does, I know because I've actually watched it and recognized it as soon as the clip started. The one I am referring to is where the 'gold digger' has to find a job because her man just got laid off. Before that point, she hurls abuse after abuse to the retail employee who tries to help her. Towards the end of that video, right after the point where the clip ended, the 'gold digger' is seen working in another retail establishment. She is then seen facing a "Karen" of her own and then after the experience, decides to then go to the store where she had been so abusive before and seeks out the employee that she abused. iirc, the video ends with the 'gold digger' apologizing for her rude behavior and then starting to help that worker from before by folding shirts with her... Now, obviously this isn't realistic but that's not what is in question... what is is the claim of no growth from the 'gold digger'. Unrealistic as this is, we do get character growth in this one. Worth a look...😅
Calling a woman a gold-digger, to me, is the same as saying a girl has "daddy issues". All the blame gets tossed onto the girl, but no one acknowledges that her father caused such issues.
They are getting married, and he blows his entire signing bonus on a flashy new car and a diamond ring? Shouldn't they have discussed these major purchases first?
I read somewhere that it's because lots of non native English speakers watch the videos, and the language is written to be easy to follow if your English isn't great
I'm kind of upset with how he used Black women in these. He's basically saying we don't have any financial standards for men. Like, sticking by your man while he builds himself up is fine obviously, but most of the time it doesn't benefit the Black woman and she ends up being left by the man for his true "preference" - most likely with a child or two. In truth, women in general should look at a man's character AND his economic position. Both will either negatively or positively affect you as a woman. Love doesn't pay the bills, put food on the table, or pay James' tuition for Harvard. It's not evil and cruel for a woman to consider a man's finances while vetting him. It's smart.
@luzon83 No, I'm complaining that he put Black women on a wobbly, dusty "not like other women" pedestal. He's basically saying we don't have standards for men financially and we'll just take you no matter how broke you are because pOtEnTiAl. That was true a couple of years ago but that's changing now.
@@TheGhostofAbigailMills You're so right. This portrayal of Black women is so popular yet so detrimental to us and our image. We need/have standards just like any other woman and they shouldn't be demonized.
a bit of a reach. i get your point but dhar mann's portrayal of women in general is more problematic. the black women are highlighted as the "good" "smart" "loyal" women. it might be a problem but it's not really going to affect the way people see black women unless black women prove the stereotype true. and i only saw two black women sticking with the "poor" man, the rest aren't specific on whether or not the woman got with him before or after he got money. the bigger issue here is his depiction of women only caring about money and nothing else.
I said the same thing when Hasan watched this garbage but these are literally just the Facebook incel meme where the nerd gets rich and tells the pregnant girl he used to have a crush on "get lost, chick". If only women these days would stop eating hot chip and lying.
Imagine the horrifying chaotic energy that would be released if we all stopped eating hot chip and lying. Those are the glue that keeps society from disintegrating into a total dystopia.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dhar Mann was once left for having this weirdly hypocritical company that "changes lives" by essentially making him rich. And he just spun it around in his head to think she was just a gold digger who believed he wasn't getting rich fast enough.

It’s only ok to recieve things when you’re a woman but making your wants known is painted as bad, and the fact the stories *never* have women working to get these things at all is itself really telling.

Dhar man reminds me of every guy in my school who thought himself to be a intellectual but actually just spouts vaguely progressive stuff by putting down others
I've met so many pretentious assholes like that over the years, and they never cease to exasperate and disgust me. I told them to fuck off, that I knew exactly what they was doing, and that I had had enough of their unilateral 'friendship'. It feels so incredibly satisfying to put hipster pricks like that in their place.
I met this type of guy who is now my ex. He always wanted to get rich and be featured in Forbes. He low-key brought me and others to make him alpha. He got scammed by Dan lok get rich quick scheme and lost almost 20k us dollars. I warned him about this fishy scheme and not to trust this guy before but he ignored completely and even told me that I was dumb and stupid. Now who is the dumb one?
it's such a relentless assault of every single line of dialogue having the exact same subtext of "gold digger woman bad, rich man dumb and innocent"
it feels violent
"Are there more women looking to date rich men than there are men looking to date physically beautiful women? Why cover one so much more than the other?" Already good off the bat. SAY IT AGAIN FOR THE MEN WITH THEIR HANDS OVER THEIR EARS
Thank you Tara for always making such amazing videos. Also thank you Cow (what's her name though??) for the great writing!
Looks like this man is preaching the prosperity gospel. And he hates blonde women
Maybe he got read Goldilocks as a kid and really internalized that blonde haired ladies will come into your home and steal your porridges!!!
@@bookshelfhoney Lol I just thought he hated the colour yellow. Your comment makes more sense though
@@theanxiouslegume9280 Ironic thing is, blonde hair was considered exotic, even in ancient Rome. And blond women were once originally seen as the epitome of innocence and purity, like a Disney Princess.
@@sammyvictors2603 Like most hair colours, blonde hair had different connotations throughout history and the world. I am a redhead.
@not relevant yeah lol. The Salem witch hunters found an excuse to burn any woman they didn't like. Left handed women were also considered witches.
Redhead and ginger are considered the same thing nowadays. But I remember as a teen back in the late 2000s, ginger was used as a derogatory term for redheads that people (mostly men) found unattractive. I'm sure there are still memes from that time floating around See also: fire crotch & kick a ginger day
You have to consider the source whenever you hear “women are [blank]”. I was listening to a guy complain that women are immature and gold diggers, but then he complained how these college girls who think they’re hot shit will age. You have these middle aged men complaining about women who are just barely legal - she’s not established yet, doesn’t know herself yet. Maybe women would stop seeming like children if you stopped dating children (relative to your age).
Why is a middle aged man going after a college student ? Does he really think he is attractive enough to get a much younger girl ?
Lol there just of bunch of incels in denial ignore them boyo
damn spot on!
@@haribhandari5309 cause younger means less experienced. Either they want easier oportunities or a more vulnerable target to manipulate. With is disgusting.
Also can we talk about how most young men are no different? Especially in a capitalist society where we are all trained to be materialistic. Men have plenty of expensive toys too. Name brand shoes, cars, games, sports and hobbies for men. And it's not really young peoples fault for wanting this stuff because we are trained to want it.
I love how men that hate gold diggers are totally okay with the fact that what matters to them the most is how a woman looks
FR as if that's better in any way😭
bruh ikr
If you want beautiful godness woman, you have to spend on her to keep her. That is logic.
and most of the time, they’re not rich, too. they hate gold diggers so much but once they have money, they’d be spending it on girls anyway. it’s almost like they’re just projecting their insecurities on women. 🥴
They want us to sign a contract/prenup before we date them to protect their money. Ok you sign a contract that you won’t cheat on her when she ages? Didn’t think sooooo
I would like to add another thing about “gold diggers”
“Gold diggers” are always blonde, white and wear revealing clothing so I grew up thinking that if I see any women who is blonde and wears revealing clothing they are gold diggers. Which that’s not true u can be modest and not blonde and be a gold digger.
Also we’re always blaming women for being gold diggers but not blame the guy for using the girl for her looks
I was thinking this had strong 'writer is an incel' vibes... and then the 'other guy' was literally named Chad... I cannot...
Yep. It's like these videos had a big Las Vegas neon sign saying "Incel," lol!
Legit, i just felt sad towards this videos
Doesnt this all read like capitalist propaganda lolllll?
"Want to make your ex wish she stayed? start a business today! "
"Want the girls in LA to be jealous of your partner? Buy a club!"
"Want the women who rejected you to wish they had stayed for the money? Switch out your current car for a Rolls Royce!"
nailed it. businessmen often do vids like these as part of ad campaigns for their 'entrepreneur help' companies. it's promo basically for the kind of business he's in.
this
Oh my god I didn’t even realize this, you’re right!!
It's a sad ol' American dream thing.
Why don't we as a society give the same amount of energy we give to gold diggers as we do to men who use women until they're financially stable (aka "a come up") then dump them?
Because they tend to be black.
Because you know, apparently there is nothing wrong with that.
Most are black and that would be "racist" ugh
because they “deserve” a “better model” as a reward for being richer 🙄
I didn't know this was a Black thing, just look at celebrities. I'm surprised when I see a famous man married to a woman his own age or one he's been with before he got famous. Like Samuel L. Jackson and Keanu Reeves are the only ones I can think of.
Dhar Mann has this weird thing where the nice person is actually insanely wealthy. Like almost every time one of the characters says something like “money doesn’t matter” or “don’t judge a book by its cover” and then it turns out that money actually DOES matter, because it will just land on your lap and then everything will be perfect.
These feel like incel subreddit stories come to life and make my face turn inside out when I watch them
The fact that the woman who isn’t a “gold digger” always gets the rich man in the end really confuses the message.
Yeah same here he's saying one thing but then what he preaches against happens
These are so unrealistic, I love that the ‘instant regret’ is the friend suddenly being rich, like wtf? Plus doesn’t that kind of contradict the point in these 🤣
Exactly! 😅
you cracked the code
YESSSS
Exactly.
Umm, no. Not at all. The friend isn't in a relationship solely for the purpose for money, so no point is contradicted.
Also, wanting to be rich is not being a gold digger.
This is teaching women to stick around in hopes men will one day be rich and successful.... that doesn't always happen and you should like the guy nonetheless
Exactly.
Exactly
It’s so hypocritical
More than that, to be with someone regardless of how stable they are. How will that work when you want a secure house and kids? Downright irresponsible.
YES EXACTLY!!! Don't like someone just because of their money! And this rule goes out to ALL people of ALL genders!!!!
@@briananana751 yeah girl, way tooooooo deep
here's my take...while these vids are overblown and stereotypical, you're very quick to assume what it's like to start a business.
@@briananana751 yeah, whenever the character gets money and IMMEDIATELY starts blowing it, I'm like "wow dude, I can see why you were so broke before. I'd dump you, too."
It's like painting poor money management skills as a virtue almost.
Edit: like if my boyfriend got a hiring bonus and bought a new car the SAME DAY, I'd be gone.
I love that the message in all of these isn't that you should love a person for who they are but that you should love them because they may become rich in the future 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
"Dont be motivated by money from rich people, be motivated by MY money, make some efforts!"
It's wild to me that these videos vilify women who value men solely for their wealth... while simultaneously centering the value of the men around becoming rich.
And also not villifying the man for wanting a trophy wife
Excellently put
I thank you Tara, and all the comments that keep me educated. I used to have a lot of internal misogyny towards myself and other women. I'm glad at this day and age that people are speaking out against toxic behavior that is defined as normal.
I love how much effort the actresses portraying the villains put into the role. They're the only reason those videos are watchable to me.
Im crying the court scene was more unrealistic than the one shown in disney shows

Let’s address another issue. When many of these women stay with these broke men as soon as the men become rich they leave them for “hotter” girls. If the women had stayed in this video, there was no guarantee the men wouldn’t have dumped them five minutes after becoming a millionaire

These sketches have that very specific kind of heterosexual insight that really makes us concerned about the straights.
These videos are so weird because it's like, not even saying it's bad to be shallow. The moral is essentially "you should've waited it out, because nice people always get rich eventually--and being rich is still important."
The thing is in real life, too getting rich isn't exactly a 100% guarantee automatically, no matter how hard you work.

I really hope he doesn't see this because it is spot on to the type of content he likes to produce
I like that blonde actress that plays the gold digger in most of the videos, she looks like she's having so much fun playing "the baddie".
"Tara watches sexist videos, and instantly regrets it"
I was literally having a midnight conversation with myself about this.
I do this too, but I imagine I am talking to a friend or therapist.
@@christopheralthouse6378 oh that's good then

It's smart.
Omg frr
