I had a similar experience many years ago... I had just started a new job & encountered a very rude customer, she threw our product all over the floor, had a fit when I wouldn't let her go first in line. And she shoved a lady in front of her. After she left I thought I'd lose my job , but I didn't, a year later I was floor manager & was asked to train a new Employee. It was that SAME lady!!!! She had gotten divorced and lost everything. I admit I was a bit hard on her at first, but She learned quick to be kind!!

Both retail and food service are like this. I've worked at Sears back in 2016 and had customers yell at me over our return policy being shorter than before and how we process transactions like I was the one who decided all that. Now that I work in Dunkin Donuts, I also deal with customers who go off on me for petty stuff such as a couple minutes longer to get their food and drinks ready which are beyond my control since we're short staffed.
