R.i.p.❣️🎸🤟🌷🇮🇹

I saw Gary on this tour in a small club in Providence, RI. I still have the photos I took as well as a guitar pick I got from the show.

As Nightwish's mastermind Tuomas Holopainen once said: "Without his influence we would sound different today." That says a lot.

Thank you so much for this. 👍🏻
I like Tarja‘s vocals more in this (because she’s my favorite singer..) but Gary is a legend. 🤘🏻Emppu is great, but Gary Moore is still another level..🎸

Yeah 80's Gary Moore is 🔥. The way he mixes celtic folky melodies with anthemic rock was really unique and a big influence on the symphonic/power metal genres thay came later.

The wild frontier album is a very celtic inspired album and is sooo good, you should see Thunder rising or the loner from the same concert. He was a master on his instrument, no other guitarist has the same control as he did, he was not a blaster but adjusted the volume so many times.. slow or fast his playing was always soulfull...

Unusual to see Gary with a Strat, he's more well known for playing Les Pauls

Not during the 80's, he started really playing Les Paul's when he started mainly playing blues

Not a Strat, but a Charvel

Yet still his most iconic guitar is a PRS. That white axe had recently been bought by Tommy Johansson (ex Sabaton) He use it in his cover of Murder in the skies

@@Scalder1798 maybe for his older fans from when he played in Thin Lizzy.

I’m not sure I’d agree; more ‘iconic’ than the PRS would be the Greeny Les Paul, the Red Strat, the two EMG Charvels then possibly the Loner Jackson Soloist and the Still Got the Blues Les Paul (“Stripe”).

Another Irish Guitar player named Rory Gallagher also does an amazing job on this song. Not sure who wrote it but it was based on an old English (some say Irish) folk song from the 1700's (not sure of the date)

Love this song, love Gary ❤ I think I can still play this after all these years without playing (tried to play air guitar along, so I'm positive I still got this 😂). I learnt few Gary's songs almost 30 years ago: this, The Loner, Still Got The Blues, Parisienne Walkways and Empty Rooms, I think. Can't really remember awfully lot of those anymore, other than The Loner, which was the first I learnt by ear. Fun fact, this is the only Nightwish song I can play.

You should watch 14 yr old Taj Farrant. Gary Moore is his favorite guitar player and biggest inspiration. He has even been talking with Gary's son about doing a project together. Taj is a phenom! He has already had 4 of his original songs go to #1 on the worldwide iTunes blues charts and is releasing another this month. Taj is from Australia and his family has moved to the US to further his career. He's played with some great guitar players like Carlo Santana and Orianthi. It's always fun to see peoples faces when they hear Taj for the first time. This is a video of Taj playing Parisienne Walkways for his biggest inspiration Gary Moore. ua-cam.com/video/PMdqV4xfUe4/v-deo.htmlsi=BRSqea8g3RbhV1te
