- Some may know the Logitech K740 is the best office keyboard in my opinion. However can the Cherry Stream Wireless Keyboard dethrone it?
Check it out here!

I have had this keyboard for over 5 years and love it. It is not use a MX switch but a scissor mechanism. I chose it because I liked the way my laptops felt.
It's an awesome keyboard and even better price!
Had the K740 for 4 years and love it! I even continued using it after spilling a drink on it, resulting in the space bar making the sound mute!
But now 2 keys have broken off and I need a replacement. So sad that they don't make them anymore
Love how he talks about the K740. I feel the same. I am a long-time user since 2008 or so, and own and use three (a forth I sadly left in office of previous employer). One upstairs, one downstairs, and one out of state. Damaged one key (i-key) and need to fix or replace.
Haha thank you!
K740 user since probably 2008. Finding a new keyboard has been a nightmare since they discontinued it mainly because of the key size/spacing. I've been without a working K740 for over a year (after being disappointed with the poor quality ones they were manufacturing in more recent years), and I still accidentally hit keys all the time because the K740 keys were just a little bigger/more spaced out. I find my hands are just a little too big for everything - keyboards, controllers, etc. Why why why why why did they discontinue it...I would pay double whatever they used to retail at.
Gonna give the Stream a go.
Yes it's not quite the k740 but it's been decent. I do like that it's wireless!
Nice, ordered this keyboard today and so far it looks like i made a good choice. Really good price on these
Yes! I think you'll like it if you use it for work too!
Just ordered for 65 with removable silicone keyboard protector. It looks beautiful in white.
Great minds think alike 🥳 I've been using K740 Illuminated for over 10 years now. The problem is that if you type all day like I do, the keyboard does begin to make noise. But more importantly, Logitech has discontinued it. So, I'm looking for a slim, silent keyboard. Glad I found this review!
Haha that's awesome. Yea this isn't the k740 but it's OK. Tell me what you think
@@IBKade I ordered the wired version since it was only $25. It supposedly has "whisper quiet" keys. We'll see. I also ordered the Logitech MX Mechanical w/ Linear Keys. I tried it out at Best Buy and it was very satisfying. It reminded me of the K740 a lot. I'll let you know which of the two is closest to the K740.
Sure thing! I got the wireless stream for 28 bucks too. And the best thing about it from k740 is that it's wireless. Something I wish Logitech did for k740
@@herrwarmduscher5204 can you post your insights? I'm looking for a silent keyboard to not wake up my baby
I have the wired TKL version of the Cherry Stream and I confirm it is a great keyboard, especially for the surprisingly low price. And it's not like there is much choice for TKL scissor switch.
Thank you!
I think it's the only TKL scissor switch so far.
Can the keyboard hold the receiver/dongle? A lot of keyboards have a cutout where you can keep the USB receiver for the keyboard.
I bought a aluminium enermax aurora keyboard back in 2006 and its lasted me all these years.. i used it so much that the letters rubbed off the keys, but that didnt stop me at all.. but now it was about to retire the old girl and find something similar - slim, laptop style with scissor keys and I found this keyboard.. very similar to my enermax, feels the same too.. no high rise keys so nails or fingers catch on em & types beautifully. I highly recommend this keyboard.
edit: I got the cable version cos' i couldnt be bothered replacing batteries all the time.
How have the keyboard labels held up? I have had bad luck with Logitech and Microsoft labels wearing off.
@killabbop still on there and I use it daily
I've had this keyboard for over a year already and can confirm that this is the best and most durable keyboard I've had so far. So anyone looking to have this sort of half-height keyboard in wireless, look no further, this is it.
Hi, great video, does the spaceber key wiggle on the Cherry keyboard? I mean like tilting when you press it off-center?
Thank you! Not too much. When you type, you eseocialy won't feel like it does. It's all pretty smooth
Did you find another similar key board? Big fan of the logitech k740
I have the same logitech keyboard, I really love it...I want one wireless but its hard yo find one with similar keyboard.
Hello. Thanks for this review. I'm just wandering what is your opinion about Logitech K800, seems like being similar to K740 but wireless.
And maybe you also have experience with Logitech MK540, MK710, MK850, MX900... they all seems being very comfortable, at least based on images 🙂
Would appreciate your feedback if you have experienced any of above, would really help me to decide which to order.
Thanks in advance!
And by the way, I own as well Cherry Stream Wireless and the TKL wired version, and I do share your opinion on them....really great keyboards, robust, etc. however the keys sound and feel is like rough and too synthetic for me, not as soft and confirmable as I'd expect from an office keyboard used for long long time everyday... but maybe because i use them since few weeks only...maybe I need months to get comfortable with them.
Same. Stream 3.0 is just too heavy to type on imo, but i prefere normal membrane or scissor membrane any day to mechanical of any kind
Thanks for the review. For once what seems to be a great keyboard that doesn't cost 150+
Thank you! Hope you get to try it out!
100%. BEST KEYBOARD EVER!!!!!!!!!!
That's right!
Hello, is your opinion about this keyboard still the same 5 months later ? My k740 just died a few weeks ago after 13 years of loyal services ! Logitech apparently stopped the production years ago but retailers were still selling some, unfortunately I was too late for that. Also I am really annoyed by the cherry not having a palmrest... Thank you
Yes even though it's not quite the k740 it is still pretty nice and I am used to it now. I also love that it's wireless. The palrmrest is not there but the k740 really didn't have one so I think it's OK.
damn its almost my story :D i had logitech wired keobard from 2012 or smth, now 1 year back i wanted to move to my couch and needed wireless. ive been searching it for so long, just recently found out about cherry stream and boy oh boy its a dream, almost identical to my old logitech just wireless and with bateries its up to 3 years ( yep 3 years of batery, since it has no lighting and saving mode, they annnouced it on their site, maybe it will hold for 2.5 years or even 2 on ultra hard usage gaming
programing, its still insane), no stupid rgb that fucks up eyes in dark or drains batery like those elite gamer keyboard that you plug few times per week... this is best keyboard and also pretty cheap.
Yes very cheap lol
What are alternatives to k740 ?
logitech k 740 is the best keyboard ever made imo. I type for a living. I have three but apparently I need to buy whatever stock is left... Why did they discontinue this..
personally, i would open the case, separate the layers and clean every single thing. maybe repair some traces (pen with metallic ink). but if the controller board is damaged, RIP
Its a shame that Logitech is discontinued now. I tried getting one on eBay and the bidding went over $200. :(
I miss my K740 and my K800...
What would be the wireless version of the k740 if there is one
Check out my review on the stream wireless cherry keyboard. It's a bit similar
I think there's a logitech K800, using the same switch as K740
try Genesis 400 lith rgb :) scissors low profile keybord.
How's the latency ? Because I want to game with it too.
Not sure the exact specs of latency but I think it'll be fine
You don't want rechargeable. AA alkaline is superior in any way for keyboards and mice if you need wireless. Honestly wired is no problem for me and i never have to think about batteries. Imo the keyboard requires too much actuation force compared to old thinkpad laptops
Thanks for your comment! My battery has been lasting quite a while in this keyboard so that's great!
Yes the actuation force is more. The Cougar 200K is a much better option IMO but they stopped making that.
I see. Never tried that one
"or your home doesn't have any lights" what?
dinovo edge is a premium version of the K740 with a touchpad. Had mine for over a decade but the battery is going. I'd buy it indefinitely if it wasn't discontinued. Mechanical keys suck balls don't get the clacky hype. noisy keys and gamer aesthetic is the worst thing about PC hardware. Nerds. Thanks.
Looks cheap lol.
