    I personally wish a little more updated research would've gone into this video. It's mentioned several times something along the lines of "I have hard times recommending logitech because romer-g" but romer-g switches have not been in logitech's mechanical keyboard releases in like...a while. They've been using just normal standard mechanical switches for a few years now, so I think it's unfair to continue to bring up something that hasn't been in their new product lineups for a while now

      I was just at Microcenter the other day and there was only one Logitech keyboard that wasn't using either romer-g or rubber dome switches. Sure, maybe their new releases aren't using them anymore, but the vast majority of their existing product line that's widely available still does

    The cable is not short as a MX master 3 user (over 10h daily for gaming as well) i can tell you that you need to charge this mouse once every 2 months for about an hour, with a 10% warning it still lasts a week so for that 1 hour you can put up with it or just connect it to a monitor or something that is closer to the mouse.

    the reason the mx stuff needs to be powered on when plugged in is because the port is just charging, they only use wireless, and that might be annoying, but in the years i've hav with the mx keyboard, with the old logi unifying receiver and the mx master 3, then with the mx keys mini and the newest logitech m650 (which also has silent clicks) witht he new logi bolt, never had issues with them.

    Unifying dongles have been around for a while. I used to work in desktop support and we had extra ones around to just pair with any logitech keyboard when a user lost their dongle again. It even works with their cheapo keyboards and you can even reflash the firmware on them. Good stuff.

    • @daveweinstein5044
      @daveweinstein5044 2 роки тому +19

      But it's time we had a USB-C version as well! Why has Logitech dragged their feet for so long offering USB-C? It isn't like they'd need to change the unify chip inside the receiver, the USB-C connector is backward compatible to USB-A signalling, and there's nothing electrical that needs to be changed with the receiver to do this.

    • @glebokator740
      @glebokator740 2 роки тому +17

      @@daveweinstein5044 I think the main problem is that all of the internal components of this USB-A adapter are literally inside the USB connector (I am talking about that plastic half of the USB connector which prevents inserting it the wrong way), there is almost nothing inside that black outer housing. Putting these components inside a USB-C connector is not possible because there is no space and manufacturers would have to make the outer case much larger, which means that it will stick out too much.

    • @danielka3583
      @danielka3583 2 роки тому +7

      @@daveweinstein5044 yeah, usb-c version would be nice, but like @glebokator mentioned, it would need to be a little larger. @daveweinstein5044 2 роки тому +2

      @@danielka3583 @glebokator I haven't looked inside a Unify adapter in a long time, but even years ago the chip wasn't that big, and you'd be surprised at how little space there is around the USB-A edge connector that you could use. I'm guessing that newer iterations of the chip have been reduced in size (as a well as super-integrated with what used to be external components) as part of cost reduction measures. That, plus the fact that Logitech are masters of industrial design, should make it possible to make a newer USB-C version that is as small as possible.

    I gave the Master 2S and 3 a try.. even for a so-called multimedia and work mouse, I couldn't get used to the polling rate. Ergonomically speaking I expected a lot more, too. The high-spot where your palm rests is way too pointy for my taste. The features are definitely nice. Wish it had 1000 Hz polling and a more rounded shape (like a mix between it and the MX518). Positioning of the side-buttons and horizontal scroll wheel aren't perfect either. Gotta give it a few more iterations I guess. 8000 DPI with 125 Hz? Lmfao

      @AlisterCountel 2 роки тому +2

      The polling rate is my only major complaint about my 2S. It's totally fine for everyday work on my laptop, but I CANNOT use it for games. Not because it's uncomfortable or lack of side buttons, but because a polling rate lower than your refresh rate (165Hz monitor) literally means stale frames. It causes some FPSs to seemingly micro-stutter, but it's literally just because every ~4th frame registers as no mouse movement...

    • @antejukic9110
      @antejukic9110 2 роки тому

      Yup, and when you re doing PS/AI work and need to do micro adjustments it just sucks. You literally see mouse skipping pixels. But I am kinda over it because infinity scroll, side scroll and thumb button are so deeply incorporated in my workflow so much that I cant even do work without them. My 2S had thumb button stuck and therefore stopped working and I used wired 1000Hz Steelseries mouse, and OMG, the difference is so noticeable. But on the other hand, the amount of manual work I had to do due to lack of extra buttons was huge.
      It's a shame, Id be happy to sacrifice battery life for higher polling rate.

      It's really surprising how much a little thing like onboard memory matters once you've used a device that has it, it's _really_ hard to go back to devices that require you set them up on every PC you connect them to.

    Fun fact. Every Windows PC has a simple emoji access, you don't need a special keyboard to add a button or anything. Just press Windows + . and it opens the exact same emoji picker thing as shown in the video. I don't know if it's different on other layouts compared to Nordic as I only have that, I bet someone will try it and complain and say I lied on purpose or something, check reply's if there is any.

    The only thing I wanted from the MX Master 3s was onboard memory so that it didn't rely on drivers to work properly. Seems Logitech didn't bother with that though.

    Recently bought the MX Keys + Master 3 to use it with Windows PC and Mac simultaneously and the Logitech Flow performs pretty poorly.
    Takes a few attempts for the mouse to flow between my monitors, sometimes does not flow at all and sometimes only the mouse switches to device 1, but the keyboard is still used for device 2 so I need to manually press the device switch keys.
    It does not even remember the brightness level, I need to manually set it every time.
    The design is very nice though and I love typing on that keyboard.
    I still need to use 3rd party software (Synergy) to guarantee smooth flow.

    I've used the MX Master 1 mouse by Logi for 6 years. They have tons of features, but the moment you start using it day to day, problems emerge. Within the first 2 weeks of buying the mouse, the vertical scroll wheel got stuck in freespin mode. I had to open the mouse up and repair it, then set it to rachet mode permanently to prevent it from getting stuck again. I few weeks later, I noticed the bluetooth connection is sketchy, to the point where your cursor is stuttering all over your screen. I fixed that by using the USB dongle it comes with rather than bluetooth. Fast forward to today, when I kid you not 10 minutes ago my mouse is no longer able to move the cursor, but the buttons still work. A quick google reveals that the thumb button is now permanently stuck in the activated position. So now I need to open the mouse up again, and fix the thumb button. ALSO, the Logi Options app which allows you to disable freespin us really buggy. You need that app to disable freespin. Without it, the mouse immediately reverts back to enabling freespin. Do not get this mouse, all the MX Master models have similar issues. Find something else.

    As far as the keyboards im a scissor key guy so I hope to get the MX keys which people often say is even better than the macbook scissor switches. Even I, who will randomly feel like typing on a different switch for a while, would rather just... have those switches soldered into a separate keyboard. If you're really going to be diving into the mechanical keyboard hobby I can't help but feel like hot-swap is a lame half measure.

      @@Blutzen I can see that it is easier to replace failed switch, but only switches that I've seen failed were Outemu on the cheapest keyboards on the market and those will newer have hot swap switches. • @Blutzen
      @Blutzen 2 роки тому +1

      @@Quettesh Even that doesn't make sense for hot-swap, because you're going to be seeing switch failure _so_ rarely that you can just... desolder the switch from the board and resolder a new one in. Solder isn't permanent, it just makes it annoying to change things.
      On the other hand, as a rhythm gamer on my PC I have seen a _number_ of hot-swap *sockets themselves* fail because the person dared swap switches too many times (we're talking in the neighborhood of 10-20) so I genuinely don't see the point of them.
