@@eljbassist9790 Thank you, Sir. I grew up in Florida. Originally from Philly (where we had Seasons). It was WAY TOO DAMN HOT ALL THE TIME. So I stayed inside playing music. I apologize about the yelling in this comment.
You can buy Turner pickups now and Lusithand or Underhill pre, expensive but that sound!!

I seen this bass from another Chinese company for double the price on Ali. figured I’d try it out, swap out the pre amp for the Nordstrand JC one and toss in some big blademan 4 pickups. replace tuners and bridge, basically gut the entire thing and keep the wood lol
Very cool. I love the look of Wal basses, the sound being a little off doesn’t bother me at all, plenty of pickup options in the world. Are you generally happy with the build quality? QC on Chinese guitars can be hit or miss at best.
Me too. The quality was surprisingly very well. Love the look and feel. Ali quality control has been hit or miss. Bought a 5 string RIC clone that was garbage. Alot of work I put into that one to make it playable. This bass is my 2nd one I've bought through Aliexpress. Took a chance and was more than pleased. I've replaced the knobs with metal push pull type(walish) looking. Got the Double NFP Special preamp harness. Chris Turner from Turner Pickups is finishing some multicoils for me to put in this. I know it won't sound exactly like a WAL when it's all said and done. Think it'll be in the ballpark though. Woke up a few hours ago and started playing some Tool on it. Even as is without the pickup and preamp swap. Really truly like the way this Bass looks and feels. I'll most definitely be doing another video once I get everything done on it. Again, the quality of the neck, body and bridge are very good and I am very pleased with it. Thanks for watching.

was there any improvements you had to do out of the box, ive seen this on ali express and am very tempted by the 4 string, would love to hear an a/b if youre thinking of chaning the electronics
As far as the actual straight out of the box, not a whole lot. The strings were cheap and replaced them with Ernie Ball super slinky's. It's very playable as is. The video demo I did is an unmodified version of what I got. Today, I am ironically getting my Turner Multicoils in. Already have my Lusithand Double NFP-Special Preamp. So hopefully, by tonight, I'll do the swap. As is though. It is a great bass. Comparable to a Sterling MM sound. I love my Musicman I already have so that's why I'm going for a Walish look and ballpark sound in this one. I love this Bass. It is constructed good and feels amazing. I'll definitely do an a/b comparison on this Bass once I'm done. Thanks for watching.

I was considering going for the turner multicoils as well, it was between those and the rautia, but heard more good things about the turners! with those and the lusithand im sure itll be a ballpark tone as youre saying. It will be very interesting to hear an A/B comparison between those music man style pickups & whatever preamp they've just thrown in and the new stuff which is probably going to cost as much as the bass did.
@jamesnell7224 That's the plan. Going to do the a/b as soon as I get the pickups. I've been slowly upgrading other things on it as well. Knobs have been swapped out and a string retainer has been added. I was surprised how much I liked the bridge and tuners. Leaving those alone.
I do love the build/feel as well and am more than pleased with the craftsmanship of it.
The only problem it had was the output jack was mono and draining my battery every 5 days. I swapped it out and wired it correctly with a stereo jack until I do the Lusithand preamp and Turner pickups swap.
I knew going in to it that I will be spending more on upgrades than the actual cost of the bass itself. I'm glad the bass itself is quality made and sounds great as is. Nothing as a Wal does but good.
I'm saving the pickups and preamp out of this to put in another homemade bass I'll be making in the near future. It'll be my 4th 3D Printed body. Excited for that build too.
Hopefully I'll have the pickups in a few weeks and it'll be ready to go. Thanks for watching.
@@eljbassist9790 nice one! I'm sure the pickups and preamp will be worth it as they sound awesome in every demo video I've seen. It won't be 100% as the Lussithand isn't to direct copy of the wal preamp and I'm not sure if such a thing even exists but it seems to be the best one out there for now (at least until whatever patent wal has runs out).
@jamesnell7224 Thanks. For sure. I've been very impressed with that combo as well. I'm going for ballpark on a Wal sound. Good enough for me. Don't have 10K for the real deal, let alone 4yr wait lists. Lol. More than happy and excited with this project bass.
That piece is longer than any bass solo needs to be.
