Seeing these I remember going to both of the Wal workshops back in the day getting my brothers bass serviced. They offered a new body to replace the one I accidentally damaged for £500. They were so nice and always remembered me.
ok, this is a MUCH better sample of the tone... just use headphones .. soundcloud.com/sam-jean-samaha/wal-mk1-sample-clip?si=be511ce5be6148829b78e61def2f0d3f&
after seeing this i feel a bit of a philistine turning up to the wal workshop with my wal mk2 in bits in a ruck sack ...my wal is what you might call a players bass ...not so much worried about the look as the sound ..main job is to get the knob un seized ...hope paul can sort things out.
You would have to be absolutely reckless to cause that to happen, The leather is so stiff that it would never touch the body unless you were trying to make it do that.
yes, the Amp is a McIntosh MC462, the Pre-amp C1100, and the rest of the system is Accuphase, and dCS (I have a. video of the system on my main page here: ua-cam.com/channels/P0lRFH0yMwp-6SQnk9hYsA.html
contact Paul via the email on the Electric Wood site, and fill out the PDF form on the site... and/or talk to him by phone (which is what I did). tell him exactly what you want, he'll make suggestions as well.. send a 1000 Pounds deposit and in about 1-2 years a fustier deposit of 1000 pounds, after he shows you the neck complete.. later he will send you sample pics of top woods to decide on, and other choices to make, and finally, when delivery is ready (in about 3-5 years these days) the remaining balance. With the Pound what it is right now, I envy anyone paying for their final payment now, but in 3-4 years who knows what it will be.
You're right, didn't even notice that.. I just added a blur for that area, but check back in a bit and let me know if it's working... It says it needs a few hours to process.
I get it... some just want the meat and potatoes .. some like to be teased (the full unboxing experience).. I figured not too many get to experience the BNIB factory experience of opening a new Wal.. so I started at the Fedex box..
@@Sams911 Sorry, man. I expressed myself a bit harsh. Didn’t mean to. I know very well how it feels to unbox a Wal bass. It’s exciting enough to nearly soil yourself. Having said that, i can imagine that there are many people that prefer to skip the intro and just want to see the actual instrument. It helps to give them a hint at what moment the actual big unveiling takes place. Love this bass by the way! The Zircote comes out very nice indeed. I like the sap stripe. Personally I would have chosen for a matte finish to have it look even more natural and stunning. Hope it lives up to your expectations. Wal basses are unique and very well crafted. I met Pete Stevens in person during a vacation in England. Ian Waller was also still alive back then. Pete was at work on a Sunday morning to finish a few bodies that were behind schedule. It was pure luck to find him at the Sandown works in High Wycombe where they were located at that time. We just drove by to see where to find the company. The door was open and we found Pete at work… I’ll never forget his kind and hospitable nature. We had a nice chat with tea and biscuits and i got to try the fairly new 5 string model. Wonderful experience!
@@inspector_7152 It exceeded my expectations.... I have a USA Spector, a Fender Master Built Jazz, a Warwick Thumb Mater Built, and a Fender USA Jazz Anniversary model all are top notch instruments, but this bsss is truly in a league of it's one, comparible only to an Alembic I once played around with in quality, tone and playability... the dynamic range, the action are hard to explain until you play one. That said, it weighs a lot, and for some that might matter... I like the heft, I feel it lends to the tone. You will be more than pleased with it, and it's more than worth the weight/wait!

Lovely!!
Would be nice, if you can make a video with the sound of this wonderful Wal bass ;-))
That’s beautiful!
No worries about the metal on the strap scratching the finish?

i didnt know they still in buisnes.....
just one guy working tirelessly building very few instruments a year.
Get a leather strap with no metal parts on it, otherwise you will mark the finish.
ok
A lovely bass, soon to be damaged by a huge brass strap buckle. Just don’t do it.
don't worry, I take care of my stuff on a level that makes OCD seem chill... almost ¾ a year of playing it and it's still flawless... WITH that strap.
