Great video. One thing to emphasize to those not shooting single pin sights is to use the same pin throughout the process. Multi pin sights can have variances left and right from pin to pin and lead to needless adjustments. Shoot 20 yard pin the entire time. Even on single pin it is imperative all of your axis are center as you implied, otherwise your sight housing can be canted, again causing false center shot adjustment. Great videos!
I start at 3yrds. This is for tuning centershot. Then move back to 7yrds. Then to 15 yrds. If I impact on line I keep moving back and then I move further back to 20yrds. If I’m shooting straight on the plumbline, then I keep moving back as long as I know my shot is on the line. Once I’m at 20yrds and I hit left or right, I adjust my sight and see if it that. I take walk back tuning slowly just bc I shoot for scores and also for hunting and I want my bows deadly accurate. I always make sure my arrows are spined for my draw weight. It truly starts at the arrow. If your arrows are not tuned well or are under or over spined, you shots will shot this immediately. Doesn’t matter if centershot is on. Just what I’ve done and I shoot pretty well out to 100yrds. Thanks for the video.
Would you agree that setting the windage of your sight at the longest possible range your sight will allow will basically achieve the same practical result? I've pondered this many times and I'm just not sure.
To answer your question directly, adjusting windage on your sight could potentially compensate for an error in the rest. But, if the rest isn't tuned properly then the arrow is not coming out of the bow correctly. The only way to fix this is to tune the rest and then sight in your bow.
I have a VXR 28" set at 60lbs and I'm dead on at 20yds but when I step back to 30 its shooting way left or way right and I'm using a multi pin site and a whisker biscuit for a rest any tips
So you're not consistently missing left or right? If that's the case it sounds like you could be torquing the bow and pulling your shots off center. Without a consistent group of misses its hard to say what is happening.
If you paper tune good, why touch the rest? Wouldn’t u just move sight? Or does micro adjustments not really effect your paper tune but helps down range?
Correct because you're paper tuning typically at just a few feet, so although you know what the arrow is doing right out of the bow, it could take some minor adjusting for further distances.
Thanks still learning just tuned mind on paper but my walk back 3 & 10 yds is apparently telling me to move my rest back in the opposite direction pretty much of my paper tune. 🤯
@@chief5981 moved rest slightly hitting ok shot one deer at 25 yds double lung didn’t go 20! But still wanna try different top hat kit. I’m just not 100% confident having my rest way away from my riser and my sights are maxed in one direction pretty much.
Do you recommend tuning the rest before sighting in a new sight? I recently purchased a new bow and was curious if this should be done before you sight in.
That could be because of your arrow setup. But, you will have a significant drop from 30 to 60. Probably 1-12 inches at least. Everything depends on your set up though.
3:15 Don’t understand how this confirms your bow is out of tune instead of just a sight issue. If your sight is off, it will also be amplified by distance
Ok he shot at 25 all 3 were center great let’s say he shots at 40 and all 3 group good again but they’re off to the right of f u just move the sight to shoot center at 40 then go back to 20 you’ll be off to the left By moving the rest in at 40 then coming back to 20 re sight I again you’ll be dead center 20-40 hope that makes sense you fine tuning your center shot and moving your sight to your rest

Well said! Thanks for the additional comments!
Thanks boss.
Immediate improvement, thanks for posting.
Great to hear!
Great instructions. Congratulations on your new employer, good to see you on TV and UA-cam. Regards

We will pass your message on to Garret!

Great addition to the comment section! Thanks for sharing!

Johnbobon when trying to tune your rest you are best off to shoot at multiple yardages, make good shots, and adjust your rest accordingly!

Negative. You have to tune the rest first to get a true arrow, then adjust the sight to the point of impact.
I use cbe hybrid tactical one pin just got it .

Sure I need to switch my release I just can't get use to a wrist release at all.

Yes you want to make sure your rest is dialed in before you sight in your sight.
Start with the rest. Center of arrow 3/8 from the burger button (rest mount holes).
This is a problem I'm having huge difference between 30 yards and 60

Great video. What lens do you have in your sight and do you leave it in when you hunt?
I don't think Garret was using a lens in his sight for this video.
