I had bought some shorty headers from LMC Truck for my ‘95 F-150 and had a leak as well so took them off. So I will have to try this when I do it again! THANKS!

Well, I bought Ebay 120 dollar headers too. I'm a gamblin' man. I too thought the driver's side looked harder and was very very wrong. It was cake compared to passenger. I sure appreciated this vid and came up with some adds for anyone else feeling frogish about this. 1) As stated, even with the EGR the driver's was a good warmup to the real thing. 2) Use a torch, find a torch, find a bud with a torch...somehow. Not much room for saws or grinders (although if willing to jack up engine, prob. can do) 3) I notched the upper A arm rear bracket to clear the collector, also notched the motormount plate around those two bolts that are a beeyotch (you will know from removing them) 4) remove starter but know going back with the top bolt on it is a leap of faith. (also ever taking it back off is going to be prayer time again) I had a newly rebuilt one (from old school starter shop) so hope it lasts 20 more yrs. and heat doesn't kill it BECAUSE IT'S HOT IN THERE NOW. You should weigh this little tidbit when making your choice to install these or just use manifolds. 5) i used super soft Mr Gaskets but I dunno, this may be a better way if I keep having to retorque (which I might because...super soft) 6) if your 4.5mm (for installing new studs) drops behind the motor mount it may be in there forever ( I didn't remove motor plate, just notched it) 7) Hook up a ratchet strap to the Y-pipe and pull it back towards the rear. Keep the strain off the manifolds while installing/ torqueing gaskets. *) I'm a broke down old man so this was slow but you can do it. I guess this is about all. Can't stress enought though how much easier this will be with a torch. If you don't use one learn, as a mechanical type you will always always find it easier to do SOME jobs with the hot wrench. I was lucky I had one even though I barely use it anymore. Again, I appreciated your view whether cheapos were worth trying, they are and actually as far as fit, I can't complain. Are the header bolts hard to get to tightening compared to regualr manifolds? You bet! Horribly harder but I've never seen an easy set as far as that goes. Good Luck Ford fans. Oh also...I think it feels stronger 1500-3K rpm range, right where it's needed. Be interesting to have dyno'ed.

I had a manifold replaced on my 4.6. I used stainless hardware for the manifold. Even after 3 Ny winters they still look new. Highly recommend the stainless hardware!!

Yeah I had to get a few exhaust gaskets lol. They’re great tho, didn’t change the sound at all as I didn’t change the exhaust after the headers, but i did this, the intake manifold and plugs/coils and it definitely has more snort and is running better! She’s at 289,000 miles now, just dedicated to being the shop truck, and is getting a flatbed soon!
Would these headers fit a 5.4 2v in an E- series? For the third time my passengers side manifold has broken. Snaps in two places just before the Y pipe and in between #2 and 3 cylinders.

I just put a set of the eBay $97 shortly on my f150, to be $97 shortly they fit ok, shortys was cheaper that buying stock manifolds

i am getting a po401 code and i have the headers on mine and can hear a leak on the pas side.. could the code be from the leak?
That’s an EGR code If you delete it that’s your issue, EGR is on the drivers side
Have you experienced any rust/leak issues with these? Wondering if they would be more of a permanent fix compared to stock manifolds
They’ve been great! It’s been only like…. 4 months or so? I’d have to look, but so far they’ve been great
