- On today's Star Wars Legends Lore video we count down the top 5 Old Republic capital ships!
Today, we look at the Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) era of the Old Republic, and count down the top 5 capital ships, as they appear in Star Wars Legends Lore - from the Hammerhead Cruiser, to early Star Destroyers, I'll explain them all.

I'd throw that junk off this list and put Thranta class corvette instead on the list (it's the SW:TOR era Hammerhead, not to be mistaken with rise of the empire era Thranta class war cruiser or Jedi Civil war era Hammerhead class cruiser).

The Leviathan is probably my favorite Old Republic ship. Beautiful and deadly.
Logan Smith Agree, I've been asking him to do a comparison of The Leviathan vs the dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser since they were the same length and similarly armed. Would be interested in which one EckhartsLadder thinks would come out on top.
Just as long as he doesn't say. one simply wins because it's in a later era. I hate that type of shit. Most tech in star wars. Is the same in all eras. the effect of a Blaster hitting some thing. Is the same in all eras. There is nearly no Tech Advancement in all Videos/pics for star Wars. Whether it be a game, Show or Movie.
Exactly. A lightsaber from the Old Republic era works exactly the same as one from the modern era. I'm pretty sure blasters and lasers on ships work the same way too. A regular laser cannon from the original trilogy era is not going to be as strong as a turbo laser was in the Old Republic era. It will be the same as laser cannons back then. The only thing that really shows that newer ships were more powerful is that the size of them tended to increase. In Kotor the main interdictor class ship of the Sith forces was only 600 meters but was more powerful than the Republic hammerheads which were even smaller. By the time of the original trilogy era the standard Star Destroyers were well over 1000 meters.
Size is really the only variable of strength that made later ships more powerful. Also, some of the stats given to different ships seem a little sketchy. Like the V-wing interceptors from ep. 3 seem like they would have been extremely fast and maneuverable but they come in last in all their stats when comparing all the interceptors. That always surprises me, since appearance wise and just based on common sense when looking at them they should be much faster and more agile than an A-wing but the stats on the later era ships are just racked up, even though the technology would not be much more advanced in the 20 or so years between the clone wars and the rebellion era but stats for original trilogy ships are just made unrealistically superior.

There is one more Difference though. The Size/Caliber of the Cannons. And the number of Barrels. Like Triple Heavy Turbolasers. Are Better damage wise than ether; 1) Double Heavy Turbolasers 2) Triple Medium Turbolasers. I think you get the idea. But also the Number of Turrets. But this is all just getting bigger or more guns on a ship. It's not more advanced tech in any way. Then you have to consider other Anti-capital ship Weapons. Like Massive Missiles, Boarding parties, Fighter/Bomber Bays, Force users(A single force user can single handedly change the course of a battle, Like knowing the week spot of an enemy ship), Numbers of ships VS Bigger ship, and to a lesser extent"Cost of ships", etc etc. ;)

The Inexpugnable is one of my favorite ship from the Old Republic era of Star Wars and an underappreciated in my mind. I've never seen any Star wars content creators look into the Inexpugnable before and I've been hoping for it to get noticed.

My favorite by far is the Hammerhead. It was held the line against an infinite fleet during the Jedi Civil War, destroyed the Star Forge, and was in service well past its prime. It did way more than what it was originally designed for, and I admire it for that.

All ships present at the battle of coruscant vs the byss defense fleet
Thousands upon thousands of Venators, Victories, and Imperators were at that battle on just the Republic side, not even talking about the Separatist side which had a mix of Providences, Lucrehulks, Munificents, Recusents, and more.
Yes but the byss defense fleet had executors and other dreadnaughts, not to mention the eclipse

The Hammerhead was such a good design that the Rebel Alliance and the New Republic used variants of it. Not many ships can say that some model of them is used 4000 years later, though the X-Wing is getting there! ;)

Nihilus’ ship was the Ravager. Not the Reaper. The Reaper was the SSD that the rebels brought down over Jakku I believe.

Hey Eck, two things. After watching your quick video on the Last Jedi it made me reconsider how i felt about the new saga. I re-watched both episode 7 and 8 and have to say you are pretty spot on about the 8th movie unfortunately... My proposition for videos today are as follows. I would love for you to talk about the in universe science behind a hyperspace ram and if it is indeed possible to ram 1 let alone several ships through hyperspace. My second idea is for a new series. I would love for you to take an iconic "supercapital" ship like the eclipse, give it a small escort fleet and pin it against a fleet that would leave the playing field even. The fleet make up and size would be completely up to you; whatever you feel stands a chance against the super's. I personally would love to see videos like this because they would help me understand the power of these supercapital ships and I have a feeling you would have very interesting fleet composition and dialog

Great vid as always, but i would have put the harrower on the list because of it's amazing offensive and defensive capabilities
Honorable mention to the star of coruscant that was only seen as a wreck.
Multiple hammerhead-class cruisers was used by the rebel fleet during the battle of Scarif. Meaning the ship's design was in use for thousands of years. That's a damn good design.
I love them all and if you built a fleet out of these ships (add in some dedicated carriers ) it would be a force to be reckoned with especially with some of the dreadnoughts of that era

I'm pretty much on board with any configuration that can minimize and or eliminate blind spots. I'm a big fan of light and fast strike craft.
Idk how much you know about the Starcraft universe but it would be awesome to see you branch out into versus by comparing the Sratcraft universe to others like say Space Marines vs SC marines and the Zerg vs the Tyranids

The Centurion-class battlecruiser used by Darth Nihilus was called the Ravager, not the Reaper.
Could you tell me what comic that shot used for the nbr 1 ship is from. It would also be nice if you could recommend both swtor and general comic reading in a vid.
I wonder if the Centurion was created to counter the Mandalorian Kandosii dreadnought. Cassus Fett was apparently very fond of using these ships in battle.

My favs on THIS list are the Interdictor and the Centurion
Why no Harrower? Those things were beastly, and the forked prow was an incredibly smart design feature, making a direct shot to the main hangers much more difficult.

I've always like the Praetorian-class frigate it may not be the biggest or most heavily armed ship around, I think for its size though that it is a well rounded ship.
I thought the Sith interdictor cruiser was a rakatan design. I think it was carth on taris that said something about the sith showing up with a massive fleet and alien tech. Since he didn't know about the star forge I assumed that he was referring to their strange ship design as alien tech.

The Inexpugnable is virtually a mobile Starbase....the fighter count seems to be a typical load out but in War Time it could carry a lot more. Might even be able to squeeze corvettes inside like the Lucrehulk could
