Shoplifting Duo Arrested AGAIN at Hoboken ShopRite After Being Banned

- Around 8:35 AM on June 24, 2024, Sergeant Severio Binetti and Officers Marco Grossman, Nathaniel Arocho, Tyrone Huggins, and Christopher Hatfield with the Hoboken Police Department responded to the Shoprite at 900 Madison Street on a report of a shoplifting in progress involving 2 males that had previously been banned from the store. They immediately made contact with Felix at the front entrance, and they subsequently apprehended the 2 males as they attempted to leave the store with unpaid items. The alleged shoplifters were identified as 47-year-old Michael Fortune and 51-year-old Antonio Kelly.
Both men were handcuffed and placed under arrest. The loss prevention officer was able to generate a receipt for the officers showing that the total value of the items they attempted to steal was about $292. They were transported in separate vehicles to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. At the police station, they were searched in more detail by the officers.
It was learned that Michael had 1 outstanding warrant from Hoboken. They were each charged with shoplifting and trespassing. After they were processed at the Hoboken Police Department, they were transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.

The store has an office. These two have already been trespassed and they are usually in the office waiting for the police. There are many of these videos of the same stores. Felix the loss prevention officer is the star of most.
I hope that they’re paying Felix well, because they literally can’t afford to lose him!

The fact that anyone even tries to shoplift from this ShopRite anymore blows my mind. No one outsmarts Felix.
This first cop needs some training on dealing with the public, walks up to Felix with an attitude like he’s the criminal, always in a rush for no reason, what’s the need to be speeding down the streets using sirens and there’s absolutely no emergency? He never even slowed at any corner and if you know Hoboken that’s so scary. He made it a whole 3 minutes sooner, good job, was it worth going through every stop sign with your sirens? Hoboken police are the best but certain people need a little more training.
