- Around 4:12 PM on March 26, 2024, Patrolman Kevin Tranz with the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting at ShopRite on 344 North Main Street. He entered the store and walked over to the loss prevention office. In the loss prevention office, he met with the loss prevention officer. The loss prevention officer informed him that at 9:05 AM earlier that day, a female customer, later identified as Danielle, entered the self-checkout area and only paid for some of the items in her shopping cart before leaving the store.
Before she entered the self-checkout area, surveillance footage indicated that she had taken a Mario Kart toy from a shelf and “returned” the item to customer service and got $44.99 in store credit. After she obtained the $44.99 in store credit, she used it to only purchase $36.27 worth of items while leaving the store with an additional $182.03 worth of unpaid items. The loss prevention officer followed her on the surveillance camera as she left the store and walked over to a white 2019 Jeep Compass. The camera captured the vehicle’s license plate, and he provided that to Patrolman Tranz.
After the loss prevention officer provided Patrolman Tranz with the receipt for the toy she “returned” for store credit, a receipt for the $182.03 worth of unpaid items, and a copy of the surveillance footage corroborating his account, Patrolman Tranz searched the Spillman software system and located the owner of the white 2019 Jeep compass. He acquired an address for the owner that was also in Lacey Township.
Patrolmen Tranz and Carver responded to the residential address at 5:09 PM following their investigation. At the residence, they located the white 2019 Jeep Compass and made contact with a female matching the description in the surveillance footage. After she was Mirandized, the female was asked if she had been at ShopRite earlier that day. She initially told the officers through her window that she was at ShopRite the previous day, but denied any wrongdoing. Patrolman Tranz informed Danielle that she was under arrest for shoplifting and instructed her to exit the residence. As she exited the residence, she vaped in Patrolman Tranz’s face before Patrolman Carver took her vape pen.
Danielle was escorted out of the residence, placed in handcuffs, searched, and then placed inside the patrol car. Patrolman Tranz transported Danielle to the Lacey Township Police Department for further processing. At the station, Patrolman Carver finger printed and photographed her. Patrolman Tranz charged Danielle with Shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(1) and Theft by Decption under 2C:20-4. After they were finished processing her, Danielle was released pending her court appearance and Patrolman Tranz transported her back to her residence.

Being able to take something from the shelf directly to the return desk and get store credit seems like a pretty massive loophole they might want to close smh...
In a world where the easier it is to steal something the more likely it is to get stolen. Shoprite is beyond stupid for making it that easy.
There is still no excuse for what she did, dont get me wrong.
How funny would it be if there was a constant looped message broadcast in the store, " your every move is being recorded from the moment you arive in the parking lot to the moment you leave the parking lot and your entire time shopping in our store. We see everything you do. Have a nice day"
😂
Just install 5 sets of double doors at the entrance and when the shop lifter leave lock them in the set of double doors they use, lraving the other 4 sets of double doors unlocked for the rest of you law abiding customers to use. While you want for the police to arrive.
@@zazenite6097 the double door system is a great idea, too bad these places would never spend the money to implement it
You wouldn't believe how many times I went to Lowe's and home Depot and loaded up a cart with shingles and brought it straight to the front to get a store gift card. Unfortunately I was a drug addict many years ago and that was how I used to make a lot of money. I would put 30 to 40 bundles of shingles on a cart and bring them to the front, tell them that they were left over from a job, have to get two gift cards worth almost two grand a piece

That guy was very good at his job, though. Who cares if he’s a wanna be cop, he is efficient, works hard and clearly has a passion for whatever he’s doing. I used to always be told to “do what you love and love what you do”, but to be honest, sometimes it’s okay to just do something you’re good at.
At least she's being cooperative and staying quiet and respectful. Good on her for that.
We are praising people in 2024 for being cooperative when being arrested? How low we have fallen as a society.
@@HeyTTA My thoughts exactly.
Just because she did the bare minimum with how she behaved in keeping her tone low doesn’t mean we should be giving her praise and considering her “respectful” considering everything else - she still stole items and thought she could get away with it by hiding it amongst items she paid for at self-checkout along with trying to return items she didn’t even purchase. A common scheme they all think they can get away with as if cameras aren’t plastered everywhere.
She may have been polite when interacting with the cops, but definitely no respect towards herself. It’s why she went from the door to the window with some bull about the dogs and “I heard it’s best to do it this way”- she knew exactly why they were there lol. She continued to act clueless and lie thinking they’re just going to magically believe her and go away, then getting upset when realizing she’s being arrested while still trying to be in denial about it all. She still gave them the runaround crying on the phone about how she “didn’t do anything wrong” and not wanting to go out the door by stalling.
I wouldn’t give her any praise unless she actually learns her lesson from it and doesn’t ever do it again. Too early to tell for any of that just yet. I’m gonna’ be honest, if she brazenly did this and lied about it ever so casually knowing they watch everything like a hawk in stores anymore, she’s done it before elsewhere with this being the time she’s caught.
I know we see people act like fools in these videos and are comparing her to those, but come on. This is scraping the bottom in terms of respect.

I could be 100% wrong (I don't think I am) but I feel like she is honestly a good person. I don't agree at all with what she did but I think there is a cause and effect. Some times good people do bad things. She absolutely deserved to get arrested but this process went as it is supposed to.. She complied with everything they asked her to do and did not resist. My family and I are fortunate enough to be a in a place where we never have to steal. We did work really hard to get where we are but not everyone was afforded the same opportunities that we've had and people will do what they think they must to survive. An example of that is, as much tax as we have to pay in this country, healthcare should be free. However, it is isn't and, in fact, is crazy f*cking expensive. I'm in no way disparaging you for what you said because theft directly contributes to increased prices for goods and I completely understand you point. However, I think we need to do better as a country to ensure that less and less people have to feel like they need to break the law just to get by.
@@kevinrobinson713You're saying you think she's honestly a good person.
She's actually methed up. Grifter, Scheister, Scam Artist & Balsly that she stole something, a item and then having the fearless audacity, as if she's done it many times before. She went to the return counter, returned it, Didn't have a receipt but lied again and got credit on one of those gift cards to go back to the store to buy something with it again later. That speaks entitlement, No integrity and no conscience.
Would you trust her coming into your living room or your car and not picking up anything that belongs to you that she could sell and make money.
She's a thief and she sounds like one of those thieves that are addicted to stealing. They can't go anywhere without stealing. They do without even thinking.

The store policy should be, no refund or credit ,without a valid receipt.
Or they can pull up the transaction on their phone because now you can easily access transactions. I did that at a Whole Foods - - I couldn't find the receipt for the life of me, so I pulled up the purchase and showed the clerk through the banking app. Whole Foods can also pull up transactions from your purchase type. They saw the purchase through the Amazon app (because it's recorded when you use the QR code) and they saw the bank transac, but they couldn't find it in their computer system. In the end they let me replace the items since I was requesting that. They apologized that they couldn't bring up the purchase. I keep pretty good track of receipts, but for the life of me the receipt was just MIA. But again, I had two sources of info that showed I purchased it. So that's one method to find it.
If they claim that they purchased cash, then they need to give the date of purchase and time, and tell the customer to come back the next day for them to research the purchase. You were here on this date and this time. One grocery store did that for me. I paid cash, they couldn't find the purchase info and they looked it up by the date and scrolled down all purchases around the time I came until they identified the purchase and did a re-print of the receipt. It's a pain in the ass, but it worked. This was all awhile ago, now I keep track of ALL receipts and everytime I'm in anywhere, the receipt comes
ShopRite is still in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s even 90s when most people were honest. Edit: I hope even today the majority of all people are still honest. It just seems like more are dishonest because of camera's every where and the internet where we can watch these police video's now. Just be honest people, you will feel better about yourself.
It might be now!
You would think when they scanned the item it would come up as not purchased. Never should be given anything back without proof it was purchased.
Well not defending shoplifters but there are people that are given a gift that need to return for whatever reason and typically people don't give their receipt with the gift and don't think to get a gift receipt

Loss prevention guy needs a raise
Loss prevention guy's (he's a security guard by the way, they are typically trained on accurate reporting) potential raise should go to bringing back the cashiers and store workers who lost their jobs to the self checkouts and the security team to begin with. Large businesses that rely on these things typically make the mistake that people aren't as honest as they think they should be and think this is a way to make even more of an obscene profit. Also, these places, Walmart, Zehrs, Loblaws, Metro, Sobey's, Kroger, Target, you name it are now clogging the nations' courts, police agencies and detention centres with petty charges of shoplifting because people forgot to pay for a $2 box of Nestle Smarties or M&Ms or whatever.
It's already bad enough that big business is taking advantage of these supermarket workers in ways like filing life insurance on workers without their knowledge and the families not getting a cent as well as taking advantage of the "green stamp" program in the states of the very employees working for them as well.
This is like the coal mining company "towns" of history where the workers were basically earning nothing due to the local housing, stores and other things owned by the coal company and the workers basically pay them everything. This is one of the reasons labour unions came about and it looks like we are repeating the last century again because about a hundred years ago, the fascists came to power and we are now seeing all of this again.
Deserves a raise.

Most thieves think that once they leave the store they're in the clear, but the Lacey Police Department will press charges no matter the amount of the stolen items, and they will show up at your home if they can see your license plate on your vehicle in the store's pkg lot. They take this stuff seriously and RIGHTFULLY SO.

@@Honey-Sanchezthanks for that useless information 😂
She has no shame. They drove her back home? Ridiculous.
This gal should have been taken back to the store paraded around the store and announced on loud speaker that she is a shop lifter !!!!!! No wonder there is so much shop lifting going , and the rest of us have pay the higher price for everything !!!!!!
@@diannedeschytza1511 The higher price for everything is just an excuse they use against us.Even is there was zero shoplifting the prices would still be the same.
Hey? That’s what you pay taxes for 🤷🏽♂️?
@@NosfeastTHIS! As someone who has worked asset protection/loss prevention entry level to management it's all insured and the "theft makes higher prices for everybody else" is total 110% BULLSHIT!!
You can thank your President for that!
LP was more prepared than anyone! He had the officer's take-home goody bag all ready before he stepped in the store.
Loss prevention loves his job he on point
That surveillance video is so good - I am sure they can see the crumbs on your mouth after you’ve had breakfast. God damn! 😂😂😂😂😂
they also use it to watch employees/cashiers handling money
See what you are thinking 😂

To see the bagels and English muffins crumbs from the items she actually paid for.
didn't really matter here. her talking to the police is what got her in trouble. She would have gotten away with it if she hadn't.
I am so happy to see people interacting with that much respect!👍
I love the way the loss prevention man does his job. He's so organized and thorough.
Anyone else notice people who are about to be arrested are the most productive people ever. All of a sudden, they have to let dogs out, lock doors, make calls, hit vapes, and worry about children.
What they have all that to do and steal. That is extremely productive!!!
And don't forget getting a ride back home.
So true! 🤣
😂 exactly & pee!
Take care of kids and take care of parents
It’s annoying when the thief seems inconvenienced 🙄 Your whole neighborhood SHOULD know you are a thief, if you leave a store or place w things that do not belong to you. Maybe if you don’t steal, your neighbors wouldn’t need to know your business . I mean….🤷♀️
Steal from a public store get a public arrest
Part of the punishment should be standing in front of the store she stole from with a sign saying what she did.
You people
Have no idea what she is going through. She looks so sad.
@NoOne-il2on Well, you were there, right? They were actually your dogs, right? I do believe she paid for the dog food and the few items with the money you gave her. I guess there is some honor among thieves. The gift card fraud and other theft were on her.
If she's stealing crap from ShopRite she's probably stealing her neighbours' packages as well.
That man that works for the store needs a raise. He did amazing detective work. I think he picked the wrong career
How do you know? He may have a super salary.
The sheer audacity to take something off the shelf and walk right to the retun desk with it 😂
It's amazing
That's messed up
Lost prevention guy should be working for the NSA, CIA, FBI, ATF, DHS all at the same time
Literally all of those should disbanded with the exception of the DHS
And DEA, add that to the list.
DHS?

Great job loss prevention, and great job by the officer teaching the younger officer in a respectful and educating way!

The officer and thief exchanging pleasantries 😊 Her home locked up to deter thieves...how ironic! The loss prevention employee is a star ✨✨✨

"I want to call my lawyer"
Why does everyone have a lawyer on stand-by? Is this a thing??? I can honestly say I would not have a clue who to call or what lawyer to contact if I needed one ...
I’ve known many people that have worked for loss prevention throughout the years and for different businesses. Some of them seemed to be lazy and others really wanted to catch people so they would watch everything. This guy is the best I’ve heard yet by far
Cops make extra money driving Uber now? Make her pay to get home or have the husband come and get her. Sheesh.
We're all flawed humans, so have a little sympathy and compassion, tool.

I just realized that how lucky shoots the jail here is a 40 min drive nd if you have no ride you're SOOL!
Great door to door service.
These cops are giving her way too much time in the house. She could be halfway to the next state.
She wouldn't come out. Not much they can do.
@@carolsummers8734I've seen cops, breaking 🚪 yanking a suspect without no warrant! They just baby that damn thief, ubering her back home.
@@mazwide9400and that would be illegal and how lawsuits happen. Without an arrest warrant in hand she was under no obligation to come outside.
Hey she needs time to hide the weed and other stolen goods!
Its a petty theft, under $200, there are many places nowadays that don't even prosecute if it is under $750
And people wonder why prices are going up and self check out is disappearing.
Self check needs to go away. And no theft ain't why prices go up. Prices go up regardless of theft
WoW . This security guy does his homework!! Kudos ! 🎉
Loss prevention gentleman did a stellar job. I wish all shoplifting calls ever went this well.
The store security did a very professional job documenting the fraud. He deserves a raise.⭐️ Well done 😊
He doesn't deserve a raise. They're all like that
They should have sent the loss prevention guy to arrest her. He was more on top of it than the cop.
Security guys deserves a raise. Nice work mate.
At least she was fairly easy to deal with and not disrespectful to the cops. That’s better than most shoplifters I’ve seen.
Evidently they get away with it a few times and it just becomes addictive and they feel it is almost okay or something. Sad to see especially when some do not seem to be doing it out of desperation to pay or anything.
That’s because she is “wyt.” They usually have decent temperaments.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Well I do not necessarily agree with that. I see plenty of white folks on these videos acting crazy too.
he only reason it resulted in any charges was because the woman was dumb enough to talk to the police. If she didn't answer the door or talk to them she would have gotten away with it. When she confirmed she was at the store that gave them probable cause for the arrest.
@@tv26889wrong...they have her on video
A retail history lesson: Sears had a "no questions asked" refund policy that had customers returning expensive, above-ground pools at the end of every summer. Sears, for the most part, is no longer with us.
Same with Costco but, I think they finally wised up.
Nordstrom used to take returns on things they didn't even sell! Pretty sure they don't do that these days.
Toys R us too
Damn that is some top notch loss prevention work there. Unfortunately its more necessary than ever. But I'm glad to see that they are charging them for theft no matter what the amount.
