It;s good to see the prep that goes into the cars before moving them on. It would certainly give me a bit more peace of mind to enjoy driving it. Great job.
Like a boss. Love how you give the love to the water-cooled porkos. Great job with everything you do. I am really impressed. You fill me with love for my own '08 C2.
Brilliant Video and very honest coming across, and nice 911 👍 Strange how the wheel refurbers managed to mix the split rims..!! 🤔 Cracking that previous owner to buy it back plus a cracking spec and colour ☺
One of most common problems with 911 even with new models is front wings rusting at bottom near the sill due to stone chips. Other German manufacturers have rectified this problem by having arch liners that cover this area apart from Mercedes.
Good man that's what I drive a C2 cab factory fit airrow upgraded 19in BBS 285/30 concave style on back slightly smaller on front cars lapis blue gray leather 😀
Love the aero Zenith Blue, identical colour to mine except I have no aerokit. What is the colour combination for the wheels? I need to get mine refurbed and would be good to get that colour
So far i have not seen you doing any inspection on bore scoring, nor seen any problems on the cars you are preping? Would be cool if you did a video on this issue and solutions (especially if and how you have solved it).
I recall he’s mentioned that it’s now very rare. These are now classics, as a 2024, the oldest 996.1s are what, 26 years old? I’ve heard an argument that if they were going to fail on bore scoring, they would have done so by now. I don’t think we understand why some cars suffered like this and others not. Some say it’s how they were used, revving too high when inadequately warmed up. Others say cornering under hard throttle leading to oil starvation. Yet others swear by fussy oil grade & brand selection & everyone agrees, frequent changes is a sound precaution. On any vehicle forum I’ve ever been on, oil threads are THE most contentious. I don’t know why. All premium oils of the grade specified by the manufacturer are going to be fine. The exception is if you’ve a wet clutch, like most motorcycles. Some additives definitely promote clutch slip. I mostly fettle 45 year old Suzukis. They were designed for 1970s oil technology. I wouldn’t pick “better” modern oils for that reason. Luke is canny and I’m guessing that if he suspects bore scoring, he would decline to buy in the vehicle. This car has had an engine rebuild. I know almost nothing about 911s, but I believe bore scoring, if bad enough to result in smoking, can only be fixed with a rebuild. I don’t know of any other reason beyond catastrophic mechanical failure that would lead to a rebuild. And most people say 911 motors are nearly bulletproof beyond a couple of well known weak points. So I’m guessing it’s died of bore scoring. What does Luke say? I note that a sump pick up modification ex factory features in some 996 motors, like the X51 Power Pack engine. Presumably Porsche had reasoned that this reduces risk of bore scoring? It’s a very good question you ask. I didn’t intend my post to be deflection in any way.
Stunning cars as always! Did you also re-polish the headlights of the Zenith blue C4? They looked quite yellowish :) Edit: I should have watched the entire video before I wrote the comment as you already answered my question in the last bit :)
@@friendsgreenporsche5234 Thanks for this. I read today in the "Definitive Guide to Porsche 911 - 996 series" book that only the pre-2000 MY cars were missing the gasket from the factory
@@friendsgreenporsche5234 ahhhh. Great. Thanks for the clarifications. Awesome ride. And Im sure the rekindled owner loves it even more. Love your vids.
Mate, could you show us how you inspect 996’s before buying them? I am in the market for one and want to do the work myself. I would love to have a checklist to look over when I go and take a look at one soon. Do you think you could maybe make a video about it?
I'm a little confused. I thought you said the car the original owner wanted to purchase back you had already sold. Did that happen with two different cars? I can't believe that place screwed up the split rims and mixed up the centers. I love watching these videos because I love the 911s. MOT is pretty thorough. I love that shaker machine. Is that to make sure the mirrors don't fall off? Lol. Probably for the suspension bushings and stuff. We don't get any kind of inspections like that over here in the U.S., just annual smog check.
Hi Werner Danler. The person you see in the video purchasing the Zenith Blue 996 owned the car previously a number of years ago. I wasn't aware that there isn't a mandatory like-wise test in the U.S!
@@friendsgreenporsche5234 I took my Peugeot to Kansas back in 93 and they said they were going to do an inspection when I had to register it there. So the guy comes out and checked the car number and the engine number to make sure it was original. That was it! Here in Nevada they just do annual smog checks. That's all any states do as far as I know. I know that if you just run out of gas on the autobahn you are in deep doo-doo. Cars here are pretty unsafe.
Thanks very much. We use a mixture of genuine parts and high quality after market parts. Our mechanic isn’t trained at the Porsche main dealer but has worked on Porsches for many, many years.
Great story of previous owner being reunited with his Porsche...... fairy tale happy ending. We could use a few more fairy tale happy endings these days with all the madness going on 🤔
Your Bro is Hillarious 🤣
Keep these videos coming and as often as you can! Highly enjoying these. AND you are pushing me even more to buy a 996 C4S 😂
Enjoyable video. The level of presale prep you do is very reassuring for any perspective buyer 👍🏻
that in its self sells the car 👍
It;s good to see the prep that goes into the cars before moving them on. It would certainly give me a bit more peace of mind to enjoy driving it. Great job.
Mate, your videos are super and so informative, good person to buy from ofcourse. Enjoying all of them at the moment and learning.
Very nice video, I enjoyed it a lot and learned some too. Thank you for posting.
Really enjoying these vids. Many thanks for your great work!
Very impressed with your level of attention to detail, good to see👍👍👍
Left side looks the best😊
What a great story getting their car back.
nice 996. love that color Zenith and then the other car with the metropol blue sport seats! nice!

Your best video to date. Can't wait for the next.
Original wheels are better!
Cracking vid . Enjoyed that. 😀 oh ye wheels, standard spec 😉
All your cars are so nice
Nice info about the door catch, my 996 TT had this when I bought it about 8 years ago, didnt know it was a thing.
The 4S cabriolet was a very nice example. Definitely was a little undervalued at £24990 for the condition and the mileage!

Love the convertibles, you should get more of these in, think the C2 Cab is best
Good man that's what I drive a C2 cab factory fit airrow upgraded 19in BBS 285/30 concave style on back slightly smaller on front cars lapis blue gray leather 😀
Definitely the original wheels for me, although I'm biased because I have them on my C4. Wish mine was Zenith Blue though, that's a lovely car
Silver wheels you are sooo right!
Those early 996 coupés only look acceptable with the tequipment aero kit. The later post-facelift cars look ok, and the C4S look great.
Bad idea subscribing to you guys, great content 👍🏼
Split rims for me. Another great video btw
Superb car
The grey split rims on the aero look the biz
Love the aero Zenith Blue, identical colour to mine except I have no aerokit. What is the colour combination for the wheels? I need to get mine refurbed and would be good to get that colour
100% the cross spoke 18s (sport classics?) in bright silver would look amazing!
I like the original wheels, the lighter colour. Both really nice examples, out of interest are you now doing all your own mechanical stuff work?
Hi David, yes we now have an in-house workshop and technician.

Silver wheels. End of. 😁
Hi. Can you please write the part number of gasket from door closing element. Thanks
Sorry everyone, the VW part number for the door striker gasket is 3C0837279A
@@friendsgreenporsche5234 Thanks!

Really enjoy your channel. Wondering if your business plan would work in the states?
The wheels it originally came with look better to me, so afraid I can’t agree with you 😃
Tony Harper Agreed, original wheels.
yes original wheels are best
Did you manage to look up the part number for the door striker plate gaskets? I thought this was a good tip.
why is it that the back of the disc wears more??
Hi dear how about 2002 4s with 200k km how much would cost and is it still can be daily uses
What’s the PN for the door striker gasket?!
Would love to know who you used to weld up the back boxes. 👍🏻
They’re welded in-house by our technician!
Dude, you didnt repaint the passenger side front rocker panel. Why not???? @ 26:16
Dude! Do you mean the side skirt? If so, look at 25:20 and you’ll see that we did. The clip at 26:16 is an earlier clip before the prep work.

Sounds like you guys replace a fair few IMS bearings. In the 996 3.6ltr single row bearing, which kit do you use? Great work guys
Hi Andy, we use the cylindrical "EPS" unit

Silver wheels... Turbo Twist wheels would look even better
Silver wheels 👌🏼
If the driver has an emergency the seatbelt the way he is wearing it will kill him instantly
Hi great vids. Are you not using Porscha care anymore and doing the works your self.
Hi Westley, we have our own in-house workshop and technician now who does all of our prep work
Awesome 👊👊👊👌👌👌

If I were to buy a used Porsche I now know where to come
The vw/audi door gasket part number is
3CO 837 279A. I think. 😶. Price and where to buy im not sure.
You can get them from the VW main dealer, or we get them from “TPS”, which is a trade supplier of VW parts.
What about door striker part number?
3C0837279A
Silver on the wheels
Can you let me know where you got the PSE silencers repaired? Thanks.
They were repaired in-house by our technician.

Hi...do you have the part number for the vow Passat door lock gasket please...? Thanks
Hi Jonathan. The VW part number is 3C0837279

that hardtop mhhh sexy porsche maybe one day
should name and shame the wheel people imho dangerous work
I prefer the original rims
agree on the wheels.
original wheels better IMHO
Silver, sorry :P

Both cars looked great. I’d love a 996 but ULEZ has ruined that idea!
And split rims get my vote
Silver wheels all the time
OE wheels look better
I prefer the original wheels sorry.
mmmmmm, Sorry; But fucking hell the 997 looks way better than the 996!
Inside and out!
I own one.
