    I drive a 1998 C2 manual since 8 years and it still puts a smile on my face on every ride.
    Lower them an inch, put some spacers on for the perfect stance, take care of them and you won't regret it!

    Very soon, FGP will gain an even broader reputation for being THE place to buy a 996/997 from. They know the weak-spots and are starting to specialize in resolving them in-house.
    The 996/997’s are such a bargain purchase, a proper proper sports car for less money than an M3 - I’ve driven a near perfect e46 M3 back to back with my 997, and there’s absolutely no comparison, the 997 is streets ahead.
    Get the well-known weaknesses resolved and these cars are super-reliable, highly desirable and pretty depreciation proof. I actually think FGP are doing their bit to push the prices of these cars up!
    God’s speed Luke!

      I too drove an E46 back to back with a Y2K Boxster S back in early 2000's while considering purchasing either one of them. The Boxster S was TIGHT and in another league. I bought it.
      I now have a 981 Boxster S and a 996 C2. There's just nothing like them.

    Such eye candies. I'm fortunate enough to own a '01 996 C4. It's an amazing car and my favorite among the 3 911 I have owned so far..

    I just spent 3 months during Covid Lockdown restoring a 2000 996 Carrera Cabriolet. They are so well made they are a pleasure to work on. The 996 to me is the perfect level of technology and feel when driving. Up or down a model and the 911 is either too harsh or too soft. Just enough old school to still be cool!

    After years of "purists" whining about the headlights, enthusiasts have realized they're fantastic cars at bargain prices. I'm fortunate to have beautiful examples of a 964 & 996, don't consider the 996 to be any "lesser" and will drive it 9/10 times over the 964. Wouldn't mind adding an early 996 factory aero to the fleet before they get expensive (and they will). Great video, cheers from Midwest America.

    Very much enjoy your expertise and enthusiasm but, one reservation ... quote 'took off those horrible grills on the front' ... Soon after I picked my 2003 C2 (2009) I found two small birds in front of the rads. Superficial damage only but still I fitted retro grills. Grills black, car lapis blue (almost invisible ... and pretty cool!). I was chatting with Porsche Hamburg few years back (rather snooty lot!) and they regarded them as a design oversight! Surprised me, but they justified by mentioning the not infrequent radiator damage caused by small birds. Well I never! But, your right ... they do shout a bit on the silver car! Mike ... NZ

    Very high attention to detail before delivering to the customer.
    Would be great to see you filming some of the service work in detail from start to finish. For example the IMS bearing, how you deal with the coolant manifold pipe engineering nightmare to fix that problem, as well as the normal problem areas that eventually go bad on the 996/997 platforms.

I've recently bought a 996.1 C4 cab and I'm loving it, but intend to do a bit of work on it over the winter and could do with some advise as to the best place to source spare parts. I'm not bothered about OEM, but want good value without buying junk. Thanks

    Hi ya mate. only just found you and your brilliant little videos but not sure which post to ask me questions to, so choose this one at random. But just want to have me 2bobs worth n opinion first that I think you`ve found urself a nice little niche earner with this 996 market mate! Ur enthusiasm and ur little video tours around the cars needing work and then showing the car after the works been done is like a double bubble brilliant idea! True genius because I don`t c any of your competitors doing this? I`m glad uve now got ur own ramp and mechanic to control things more as I did notice in one of the videos the garage where u used to fix ur cars was like, not very helpful! U were filming and on more than one occasion u had to ask for the ramp to b raised so as u could film underneath! WTF! The amount of work u musta put thro their doors musta been £££££`s n it came across like u n ur camera were in the feckin way! So well done with the business and hope it goes from strength to strength for u.
    So me questions. Can you in your videos perhaps give us an idea verbally or write them on ur white board of the repair costs involved with these cars? The usual repetitive repair bits that seem to b common in nearly all ur videos, IMS, front struts, aircon pipe, tyres, clutch, blah blah blah etc. Like the cost of an IMS replacement on a 996 is waaaaay cheaper than one on a 997.1. Spark plug replacement costs, servicing costs, especially the BIG ones and just the reality of how much it costs to run these babies. Just thought it would give ur business even more of a complete `wrap round service` and b even more transparent as u already r with ur current videos to us as the punters.

    What paint did you order for the floor? I did mine with epoxy from Resincoat- great stuff but be careful when putting it down, definitely recommend 2 or more guys and wait for the ambient air temps to drop or it’ll quickly become unworkable. Keep up the vids, new bump stops everywhere!

      @lebojay 4 роки тому +1

      @SparfMotors Look for leather door cards and dashboard.
      A Porsche Technic gear knob is nice to have, if for no other reason than it is worth many hundreds of dollars.
      There are some choice aftermarket upgrades that are worth paying more for if you find them, like LN Engineering IMS replacements or Numeric shifters.
      Suspension refreshes are expensive. Check that the bushes are in good shape or negotiate accordingly.
      Buy a good one like I did and enjoy!

  • @markmuller8829
    @markmuller8829 4 роки тому +2

    The answer to the title of this video is fairly obvious - you making these videos is the reason they sell as soon as you acquire them. Showing all the work done, the history and the detailing and voila! Phone call & car sold! You don't even have any cute sales girl in the video (ooh, the feminists will have my balls), just your ugly mug, and they still sell before the engine has cooled down..... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Well done, mate. You deserve your success!

      craig bryson well you know what they say. Those who can’t, leave unnecessary opinionated comments on UA-cam videos telling the channel that they aren’t doing things well enough because they have no idea of the time involved in making completely free video content for Porsche fans to watch, and can’t fathom that the video isn’t made for their sole personal enjoyment above all else... or something like that. All the best Craig.
