The KTM is great off-road, I know as I have one and in Colorado, USA you will find the worst mining roads to push any bike to the limit. When it comes right down to it, a skilled off-road rider can take just about anything off road and make it work. Neither of these bikes are dirt bikes, so if you want to get serious off road... buy a true enduro. So, I keep hearing about low end torque. KTM has plenty for going off road. What I do see in many videos is people that have little experience in the dirt and can't get a bike going on a steep hill once stalled out. Most all the videos I see are tires that are set to street pressures, inexperienced riders, riders that don't know how to slip a clutch and feather the throttle. you can gear this bike down, like any bike, if you need that extra grunt down low, But I have had no issues with this bike off road. I think half the people that complain about the low-end torque have left traction control enabled. Anyway I've never ridden the Himalayan but I'm sure it's a great bike. Soft suspension is great for riding around slowly but will fail you when going at speed, on the other side of this coin, stiff suspension at slow speeds will wear you out unless you stand up. On the KTM if you reduce the compression and rebound the ride is quite nice. Again, I've never seen a single video of anyone changing the settings on the KTM suspension to fit the road conditions. Something you might think about for another video.
Thank you for putting out the videos. I commend the people of India for sharing all the tips, trips and comparison of bikes and I get to see some of your beautiful country. Now I'll also say, any new bike to you will take time to learn it's handling characteristics on and off road. Any bike will seem like you are wrestling it until you put the miles on the bike. At some point you and the bike will be working together like old lovers...LOL. Thanks again and keep the videos coming. It's winter here and I'm a fair weather rider and I love to see others enjoying the warm weather

KTM Duke Adv needs at least some skills to work on the throttle, bike is really fantastic. I am also an RE fan and own an Interceptor 650, happy with my bike, but my experience didn’t go well with Himalayan for me. No hard feelings it’s again a personal choice, this comment is well written Bill, I have been to Colorado Springs and seen the roads too. Roads are appealing and pleasing mountain terrains. If you're short on budget- Go for Himalayan

Not really. I have the budget but I hate the looks of adv 390 and even though I am 5'8" I like shorter seat height as it gives me more confidence.
While Enfield just doesn't have enough power, as I want mainly for touring. I am considering interceptor but it needs too many mods (custom windshield, custom seat, few compromises for panniers) and overall after mods it looks ugly.
So a himalayan with bigger engine would be something which will suit me.

I enjoyed your video. I bought a 2021 Himalayan. Here in Canada the KTM is the same price as the Himalayan. I did look closely at the KTM but I never got to ride one. Even though, I’m quite short I thought the weight of the KTM would have made it manageable. These are both are excellent motorcycles. I chose the Himalayan at least partially because my last bike was a 2018 Africa Twin DCT which had all the luggage boxes. I wanted something smaller, lighter and more manageable off road. The lustre of the technology had worn off and I was done with all the plastic. I am very happy with my Himalayan. I have 7,000 km on it now. When I’m not on it I’m planning trips. I have one trip planned to go into the Arctic and another to tour British Columbia’s ghost towns. I think that your evaluation of the Himalayan is quite accurate, however, I think the brakes for off road are really good. No matter what the conditions are, you can slam on the brakes and get a safe controlled stop. The Himalayan has a better range because of the larger tank.

The KTM 390 adventure is by far my first pick, but will go with Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires. And you need to look at some videos where the KTM 390 is doing some very hard off road and having no problems, the Himalayan might be better off road but the KTM 390 is more than what most people will ever do on them. And they do have a all metal bash plate, from KTM which I will be getting. There also the fact that they have way more dealers for the KTM than for Royal Enfield, so if you are on the road and need some service it will be much easer to get. I do like the spoked wheels, but if you are out in the middle of now where a tubeless tires are much easer and faster to repair. I did have a Royal Enfield 500 but being no dealers on the east coast of Canada, I sold it before leaving ONT. But liked that bike as one of my favorites, and most fun rides.

In video it is mentioned that KTM seat is stiff and not good for long rides, I believe its reverse, please re-check with any Adventure Tourer or correct me here if I am incorrect. Himalayan is a good bike for people who are first time to moderate off-roading but KTM requires a professional throttle inputs to use it as an Adventure bike, if one learns this art then its a great Adventure bike, else it will remain a tourer for you.

I sold the Himalayan and now own the KTM. The Himalayan just didnt have enough power for some situations, and I couldnt get comfortable on the seat, not even with the optional touring seat. I also like the remainingfuel range meter, cornering abs and the adjustable (and way better) suspension on the ktm. They are so different you could own both and have very little overlap.

Rode a neighbor's Himalayan for a few months but bought a KTM 390 Adventure because of the several defects in the Himalayan. KTM Adventure is just more reliable. Most of us would be touring rather than doing very challenging off-road. Happy with my choice of KTM 390 Adventure after 3500+ kilometres on Highways, off-road and Mumbai's bumper to bumper traffic. The KTM aces all departments. No comparison actually.

They did a run off between the KTM 390 Adventure and the Himalayan off road and they bough did very good but bough riders liked the KTM as more capable, I just got a KTM 390 Adventure and find the mirrors very good, and as for luggage I put the GIVI Trekker 33/ 46 hard bags on and can go bigger if I want, so no problem with luggage on the KTM I also got better hand guards for it and am waiting for the better bash plate, and also went with Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires which I find very good on pavement and gravel and dirt roads. Will try some single track when I get the better bash plate. So far have 3,500 + Km on it. and getting an average of 3.5 liter per 100 Km and as good as 3.2, and even taking it hard I get 3.8 but only had that once most of the time it is 3.5 or less, and that is checking at the gas station fill ups, and the bike is just about always the same as I get.
