This is the absolute best ever (and most polite) summary of my narcissistic wife. Your analysis is just spot on. Well done mate.

I’m a new subscriber. I enjoy your conversational and humble style. I learned about you by watching your recent discussion with Richard Grannon on internet use and narcissism. I look forward to your upcoming discussion about the duplicitous nature of narcissists. Thank you being here for us to enjoy and learn.

Great flooding tactic by team Vaknin. Let me simply say: He is very, very good at what he does. Umm, the sweet allure..the semblance of harmlessness..then the screaming starts

At the end of the day the concern is about whether the person is safe and can they be reasoned with.

I do believe that my soon to be ex is a narc plus also BPD and ADHD (confirmed diagnosed) - reason why is because of the vindictiveness, revenge, punishment, (all things he claims are "justified") etc. He has done everything from smear campaign, false accusations to overt blackmail - which is so sad because it not only affects me, but our two kids and in the end he hurts himself.

Like a toddler. My hubby is the baby of his family. And i don’t really know him any better than when we met. He’s entirely different around his friends esp if he thinks it’s just them 🤣 He doesn’t know me either. I think at times both of us are narcissistic. It was arranged by my parents who are also both meeting a bunch of those criteria 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ he is a good dad though. I have no doubts about what a good job he’ll do if fate takes me out of the picture.
Sometimes I just want to be alone for the rest of my life, maybe to live in a delusion I can control. But I don’t want to hurt anyone, just get to choose everything and be independent again, like I was for about a year in my 20a. It is hurtful to know I’m not special or good enough to have been treated like more than a tool and an appliance. But there’s downsides to being too many people’s object of admiration too.
My dad’s got the Captain Kirk syndrome for sure. One of his favorite TOS episodes was The Man Trap, he watched it several times when I was little and I couldn’t remember the name of it til RLM did an episode on it last week. So I bought the whole series for my kids to watch lol (we already have TNG. My dad used to really dislike Wesley but watching it again he’s so humble but brilliant, it’s great acting). My baby brain made good use of that episode though bc my whole life I’ve been able to realize people have different perspectives and see different things. It really is such an excellent show to teach things to kids. My dad did like being the captain, they joined a very strict patriarchal group where he was a deacon in almost every congregation, a leader in all the men’s-only meetings that made decisions about everyone, and usually the most well-educated, close to richest which wasn’t saying much but it was a position of power and respect that he really did qualify for at least in those groups. He allowed some sketchy things to go unreported in those churches. He tried to use the system to hurt me when I stopped following his path, and he’s said quite a few extremely hurtful things in cryptic ways I only understood later. He recently spanked a little five year old at their newest church and my mom made sure to tell my grandma, I guess bc she knew my grandma would tell me and cause intense distress. My last beating was at 16. But my dad was actually really awesome. He worked for car companies when a lot of cool new models were coming out and he drove one to the church the first time we went there lol thinking of all the things my parents have done through the filter of them being narcy rather than through the filters and justifications THEY told us, it’s a revelation lol I still love them though. It’s a thing in the southern US to have a deep sense of delusional exceptionalism. Moving away from there helped so much to realize that we were average at best and that so many higher goals exist. But I still love watching things like redneck brawl and cops on bodyvam showing people who think they have the world by the tail that they’re just part of the system like all of the rest of us ha.

See Tim Fletcher on conarcissism because you probably have CPTSD as well as codependency issues that can be healed with a lot of introspection but you must go gray rock with the narc if you cannot do no contact for the sake of the children plz

So so true! My BDP covert narcissist is a musician with the highest of mood swings, childhood abandonement, ADHD galore and just heart breaking. I loved him and gave him so much and suffered so badly. ❤️‍🩹💔

Darren, why do Covert narcs sabotage arrangements? I know two that do this. They cancel last minute or they don't make the arrangements they said they would and we can't get a table or tickets etc. What do they get from this?

Control and domination in most cases. They will also claim they forgot to make plans which is not true but they use plausible deniability.

Like everything with them, it ultimately comes down to control. With malignant/sadistic narcs (so quite a few of them) - they probably also take pleasure out of ruining your arrangement and the negative impact it will have on you, and if you call them out you will get a nice case of projection right back at you with "you're so nasty/controlling/impatient/difficult".

I'm often late. Or I make plans & then cancel them. Related to AuHd & anxiety. These traits without the co-occuring behaviors aren't necessarily an indicator of narcissism.
