I am not the only one building today! Working on my trench board. :) This is my first build in almost a year. Had some bad things kick my love of the hobby down. Lost My best friend, my Little Brother. I finally got back to building. You are an inspiration. I don't always watch every Vid, BUT.. This one popped up and in the first two and a half minutes you said it all. Thank you Good Sir. You Keep on keeping on,
So glad to see you in your natural habitat. My wife bought me a T-Shirt with the title 'Things I Do In My Spare TIme' followed by 6 boxes of (Paint Minitures, Look at Minis, Reserach Minis, Talk Minis, Think Minis, Dream Minis) Love it!
What did I get for Christmas? I got this video. Best gift of the year? Discovering it tonight while reading to my 5 year old son before bedtime and getting to introduce him to Mel and the art of terrain making for the first time. No kidding. Just awesome to see you in the studio Mel and charging on. You are the man. :)
Thank you so much for making a video like this. Life has been tumultuous recently, and i haven't done any modelling or painting in a while. I needed a push to get back into it, and you just gave that to me! For Christmas, I will receive (when I see my parents in a week) a vortex paint mixer. I also have a job at a new hobby/geek store where my skills and enthusiasm are encouraged and recognised. Cheers from Canada!
Like the texturing, kind of a "back to base-ics"! I got myself a couple of old 25mm plastic castle kits that had been sitting on the shelf of the local model railroad shop for ages, to see what I can make out of them!
Good to see you up and at 'em Mr B. Whomever sent you that email needs a hearty pat on the back. you motivate and inspire me all the time. When I know I should be working and can't bring myself too I watch one of your vids to give myself a swift kick up the rear. Keep on keeping on Mr B
I'm not usually one to post on vids, nor am I one to talk about my state of mind etc. just wanted to let you know I enjoy watching your content as it's so focussed on being positive. I recently decided to ban the negative impulses from the world from my life, and I truly enjoy channels like yours (especially the Birma build!). We all have our ghosts to battle, and nobody in this wonderful hobby is truly alone. Hopefully creating these vids helps out all of the people enjoying this content, be it creators or viewers. Keep up the good work, Mel!
Mate - a few things 1) glad to hear you got inspired 2) thanks for keeping me company as I sit alone in the office today working. 3) I don’t think I’m alone, but I come here partially for the terrain but mostly for your personality. Please keep up the simple work but just talk to us. We all keep each other company PS cool build !
Are you going to add a horse skeleton in one of the swamp pools? "Come on, Artax. What's the matter? What's wrong?" The Neverending Story, scaring kids for decades.
Hope you had a merry Christmas. I gave a couple of copies of Terrain Essentials as gifts this year. Always good to see you in the studio. Best wishes for 2024.
I've been watching you tutorials for a while now but have not had anything to spare so i hopee this helps my friend and Thanks for what you do. Chin up as they say, and have a good boxing day. PS I got to great items from ROKR, a clock and a rubber band Thompson. I can't wait to put them together.😂
Glad to see that your feeling better Buddy!!! Rambling videos with a wealth of knowledge are great for EVERYBODY:)!!!! It looks great and non warping is AMAZING! I'm trying to organize 30 years worth of minis and I'm about 9 book shelves in!!!! I started working on my hell terrain again. It feels good to see you working though your pet projects as well:)!!! I have to make the next step and putting videos back up. Thanks for making me feel a little less alone. Your doing great Big Guy:)!!!
So for Christmas, I got myself a new umbrella (left my last one on the train, whoopsie) some white paint, some miniature archivist's shelves, some choccies, a couple of drinking glasses and a nanoblocks set of Himeji Castle. Lovely to see you at it again Mel, keep it up! I'm still new at resin and such, so this should be most informative!
HNY '24 Mel - Good to see you are back in the throes of terrain building as its been a while since we touched base and I await eye operations to rid my eyes of cataracts. It will happen this year I'm told.
Your inspiration is inspiring me to get inspired! Heck ya! I haven't made terrain since i was young. Wow, years now that i think of it. I think it's time. Thank you!
Not all videos need to be a spot on editing video with a lot of descriptions and perfect build at the end. These videos that are kind of easier in the structure and just some building and talking is nice to see. You see more of how it all progresses and what it really means to be building. To be honest, you still manage to build more than I do. So far this year I have managed to build 4 fences for my 15 mms. 🙂 Just keep it coming how it ever turns it. This thous trigger me to build smaller pieces at a time while I watch your progress.
Hello Mel and fellow watchers. I rarely comment on videos but it's struck me how much good can be done by watching people like yourself doing stuff on these videos. I am very lucky in that I have no problems in my life apart from a dodgy disc in my back. There are people out there on their own,or suffering from loss, depression, isolation etc who the vids help by hearing someone talking to them and seeing what becomes almost a friend. I've seen this in the model railway community too even more so. This have me an idea. Why don't you look at building a shunting puzzle layout. They don't take up space, can stand behind a door. You can put as much or little scenery as you wish and don't cost much as you need 2 points, some flexy track,a loco and 8 wagons. There are plenty of videos on here and you don't have to be into trains to enjoy it as it's a logic puzzle.Bit like chess. You get the pleasure of building it,you can do it on your own when you like and it takes your mind from any problem you have in your life,at least for a little bit All the best
Mel once you have a nerveous break down its a slow progress on the road back having been in the same place myself, keep at it try to make a list of all positive thinks you do in a day and be proud of yourself its a hard journey but you will get there I am sure❤
I got a lot of nice things, including a static grass applicator for my Normandy project. Now just need to find some static grass! I also got the Wargames Soldiers and Strategy Magazine, which featured lots of Pacific jungle terrain that looked suspiciously familiar to what you have been making in your videos. Did you loan them the terrain for the shoot? Or were they inspired?
Apart from the usual socks and smellies i got a voucher that ill spend on some modelling things probably. Been a tough year for a lot of us Mel. I've had several things diagnosed that are affecting my mobility and will eventually put me in a 🦽, and lost my mum to Parkinson's and Dementia. It all takes its toll on ones mental health. Glad to see you back in your happy place. I aim to be doing the same at some point in 2024!
Got a book. Pageturners 'How to write iconic stories from the creator of 2000AD' By Pat Mills. He's very keen on the creative Muse and sticking it to the man.
