All of these restorations remind me of pet rescue. All these tools had a life of usefulness and now they are brought back for another generation to use and respect. I have become very hooked on these videos. I feel a bolt of guilt when I think of how I miss used some of my old tools.
Your success reflects the quality of your wonderful videos! Many UA-camrs can orient themselves to you, with you everything fits together perfectly! I am a big fan of yours! Keep it up...
This kind of project is outstanding. Exactly what I'm hoping to see. Neglected devices, restoration using most of the original parts, as much beautification as possible, surf a final test to finish to the project. Great job!
Great video, thanks for the little pieces of comedy relief, made the show even better. When you get the missing part show it on a later video. Nicely done, sir very nicely done indeed. Stay safe, mask-up and take care. Texas is watching.
Thank you so much Paul! You’ll see the missing part in a compilation/trailer or something :-) Thanks, i will, you too! I say goodbye with a „yeeehhaaawww“ to Texas! I’ve been there and loved it! ❤️
Another well wrought restoration sir! The one thought I had for the piece would be a bushing for the stone, to protect the mounting shaft from wear due to slippage over time, assuming this will see regular use. Loving the "signature color", perhaps one day I will have an authentic Mister Patina restoration.
James, thank you so much for your comment! I totally agree for a bushing/sleeve for the shaft. But just like you said, after the final test this grinder is just for displaying and wont be used. Since my channel grows bigger and bigger, i had the idea of doing some sort of raffle or something like that. So chances increase of getting a project sometime :-)
You are one of a kind or to say the best restoration channel, with a subtitle in every video, which motivates viewers like me to try restoration. Hope for more videos.
Was für ne geile Karre. Deine Schleifer gefällt mir deswegen um so besser🤤. Schöne Arbeit und dir ne schöne Vorweihnachtszeit.
I think it is a perfect restoration and think it looks better with most of the casting imperfections removed. Having had a few cuts in the past from sharp bits, I,prefer smooth edges!
My grandfather had one like this to sharpen his drills. And on a similar manual drill, in the summer cottage out in the Stockholm archipelago there was no power. I still remember the smell of kerosene to the lights in the evening 👍 Carsten
Two OH&S things worth considering: Kerosine is much better as a degreaser than gasoline and is also much safer to have sitting in the workshop. Always check old paint for lead content before throwing in the blaster. If it comes back positive, you can use liquid stripper instead. Otherwise a nice looking restore. It's a pity that the clear coat didn't come out glossier though. Maybe try a different brand next time (or hit it on the buffing wheel with some polishing compound.
Hey David, I will definitely keep your words in mind! I totally agree with the clear coat, in the future I will use just the 2k clear coat. I thought about buffing compounding, but I don’t want to know how this cheap clear coat would’ve react to this. Didn’t want to polish it through 😄 Yesterday I bought a new project, where I will focus on the paint job. I will use a static primer, wet sanding, 24k leaf gold, several coats of clear coat and a nice wet sanding, polishing afterwards 🙂❤️ Thanks again, I really appreciate!
Since I view these restoration videos as a learning exercise, I must give you an A for effort and work on this one. The amount of work was scary in its completeness. Thanks for the humor, also!
Hey Bruce, iam really glad you enjoyed and hopefully got one or two interesting hints from it :-) Thanks for watching! PS: If you got any technical questions, feel free to contact me!
Lovely job! I l really like the color you used - Much better than painting it black like it used to be. First off, you missed your opportunity to convert at least one of those boats into submarines by placing the small parts in it/them. Second, where in the world can I find some punches like yours that don't bend at a 140 degree angle after a dozen or so hits‽ 😆 Also, congrats on the exciting news!
Haha, thanks a lot bro! Yeah i wanted to give it a little bit more color than just black :-) I really thought about transforming the boats into submarines with the small parts, but then i made the small parts in little water mines!!! Oh, those punches come from an other planet, they were specially hardened with cryptonite. I wanted to send you some of them, but they just can be delivered by a special company which is focused on this material. And the company isnt superman. Thanks Bro!

He puts in comments where it's necessary, but mainly through his actions and gestures uses a Universal language that very few people can do. It's like the old silent movies, or a Mozart string quintette - the point/emotion gets across in a less direct way, but more strongly, and it's much more interesting. And the pace is very relaxing, instead of having someone talking too fast, and making it unpleasant. I don't care about this grinder so much, but I love the whole "atmosphere" of the videos, it relaxes me.
