Many years ago, I was able to work and handle many old microscopes. It was a pleasure to see their precisions, and an equal pleasure to see you restore this one to glory.
Maybe slightly overstating it, especially since the microscope could not have been cheap to buy, but you had some balls taking that apart. I would have ruined it just taking it apart, never mind restoring it and putting it back together. Awesome job, sir!
Hey B, thank you so much! When i started with disassembling, i was like "oh yeah, goes well", but when i more tiny screws behind a lot of tiny more screws, i really had to focus on this one. Especially the full brass parts with their soft threads and surfaces. Thank you so much, iam glad you enjoyed!
Absolutely beautiful . Glad you were able to save the old thing. We just don't make beautiful things anymore. Aluminum and cheap plastic is all we get. Just mass marketed junk that falls apart quickly so you have to repurchase over and over again.
So many channels that claim to be ASMR should watch this! The whistle made me laugh though, I think it’s because I wasn’t expecting it. I really enjoy it when people like yourself, my mechanics, RepairMan and LABD restore things that are different from everyone else. Then you do them to an higher standard and with a better video production too. A thoroughly enjoyable video, thank you.
Hey Mark, thank you so much for your words, iam nearly speechless right now. Iam very glad that you enjoyed and recognized the details, which is very important for me! Thank you, really, so much!
Loved the macro shots! Extremely appropriate for a microscope in my opinion. It’s hard to imagine how it got so dirty in the first place so the after shots are quite stunning. The final piece is gorgeous! Well done!
I see allot of times where tools get polished to a mirror finish. I always think "Wow! That looks great. Now I don't want to use this." With this one though, the whole idea it to be polished and clean. This is totally functional and is still relevant. Probably my favorite on this channel.
Mister P, you're quickly becoming my favorite restoration site. Thanks for restoring something other than a hunk of rusted metal and rotten wood. Keep up the fantastic vids! I loved the laugh...no translation necessary.
Hey J! Iam really glad you’re enjoying 🙂 Guess you’ve seen my other videos, so you know that I love rust as well. But I think there’s so much more and that’s what I want to show you! Thank you so much! 🙂
Of all of the restoration videos I’ve watched (toys, tools, appliances, etc), this is my favorite by far. It is the best filmed and edited. The restoration is also very well done. Good job!!!
i really appreciate your restoration work more than other scratch conversions. You handled all tiny parts precisely and clinacally so as not to cause optical diversion. congratulations.
The microscope looks great but it is missing the two clips, on the deck to hold the specimen in place. Should be two flat springs that press against the deck, to hold the specimen slide to the deck. Other wise looks great.
It was nice to see such a wonderful restoration of the ancestor of the big binocular scopes I use everyday. Leitz made such lovely scopes. Still do, under the Leica name.
Beautiful restoration of an old classic medical device. In its heyday I am sure that the owner prized it greatly. All that brass work must have been very delicate to work on, but you pulled it off nicely. Thanks for sharing this video with us and please keep strong, mask-up and stay healthy. Texas is watching.
SIR; You wouldn't happen to the true age of the Microscope or as close as you can figure it looks to me to possibly be from the early 20's to maybe the 40's it quite possibly be earlier. Thank you for sharing your Passion with us.
Thank you for your clear and deep explanations. On Amazon U.S.A. I’ve found a similar product for blueing, whose name is “Birchwood Casey Super Blue Liquid” used for the maintenance of firearms. Similar products are also found in Italy for the same use. As much as possible I also prefer traditional use with oil and heated metal. Thank you again. Let's see on your next video!
. wundersame Wiederherstellung Ich sehe deutlich deine passion in das conservieren der geräte vom altag. Neuer influenzer können neben shöne kritik auch neben kritik erwarten, und dar aus lernung ziehen. Thank you so much for your kind words! You’re right, I didn’t paint it black in the end. I didn’t do, because it won’t be used anymore and I think it looks better that way 🙂
Hello again! Another glorious result! I attempted to come up with some constructive feedback, but my knowledge of light manipulation is limited. I would think that applying a matte black finish to the interior of the cylinders would be appropriate to limit reflection issues, but I'm not sure if that is actually something that would occur within a microscope or not. I thought the snapped screw repair was excellent, I would have welded material to the tip, then filed, shaped, and recut the threads. Your method worked perfectly, and was not something I would have thought of. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
Hey James, thank you so much for your comment! I totally agree, giving the insides a new black finish wouldve been 100%, but since they were still "blacked" on the inside, i just cleaned them. The inside condition was really good. I thought about welding too, the problem was that i dont have a welding machine in this shop, my second shop is about 60km away from me. Thank you for watching and commenting on this level, i really appreciate!
i bet you were SUPER excited breaking this one down. The potential in every piece and visualizing that final brass finish really gets those monkey synapses firing. Love brass work!
Very nice work M.P... Now get some bottled water and put a drop on a slide and look at all the bacteria (thru your microscope) in the water.. Now purchase a water distillation unit that makes 2-3 gallons a day.. That is my gift to you my friend and thank you for your gift to all of us thru ❤ your videos.
@@misterpatina my mother did that when she worked at the hospital as a Lab Technician.. Her and a co-worker looked at some bottled water that they were drinking.. She said it was loaded with bacteria.. that was probably 30 yrs ago and probably worse nowadays... You keep making those videos and I'll keep watching them...lol.. thx again...
Right when you finished putting it back together, I was struck by how oddly similar it is to a tiny drill press, haha. Great job! I keep finding new restoration channels and subscribing! I think I'm up to 4 or 5 now! :D
Terrific job on this nice microscope! Truly at the professional level. A couple of notes: the “desk” of the microscope is called the stage. Also, microscopes of this age had all the brass parts lacquered with a slightly tinted lacquer to give a gold/ reddish hue. The “recipe” for the lacquer can be found on the website of an antique microscope dealer in California.
Once again it is a very impressive restoration! At first you don't believe that there are so many parts ... The result is wonderful! If I could I would give you 3 thumbs up! You are a great role model for my videos too.
Muy buena restauración te felicito. Pero también debes tener en cuenta que las piezas en bronce también llevan una capa de laca especial protectora. Que en si es un poco difícil lograr que sea la mejor. Gracias por la hermosa restauración.
Very Nicely Done, Mister Patina! Great videography too, especially the end sequences...tough to do and you did it well! Looks like this is a 1930 model but the table is custom for some kind of larger work. Not sure whether the the original was paint or Japanning but yours looked excellent. Nice job on the pinion shaft and noted the oil grooves in the bearing saddles...first quality! Thanks for doing this and saving a real quality piece. Hat Tip!
I am enjoying your videos thus far. I really hope you start adding more time on you cleaning up the parts and such. This video could of been 5-10 minutes longer and I would be fine with that.
