$1,000,000 idea: Robbie C starts another channel and rents himself out as a commentator. You send him the footage, he adds the magic. I'd pay to have Robbie put a positive spin on all my bogeys.
Excellent commentary and footage, thank you! I am new to DG, less than a year in and have been looking for MA3 coverage to help me improve my overall game. Awesome tips and input, thanks again.
I absolutely love this! It is really awesome to see these players going through their disc golf journey instead of just watching players that are already at the top. Robbie is the best commentator!
Robbie C. Your content keeps getting better. Great idea. Super helpful. I myself am a MA3 player who’s is struggling with the jump from MA4. Thanks for all the helpful info and tips to try
Honestly I'm an MA4 player myself, I'm lucky if I can get one round in a week, and fieldwork is almost impossible to hit. I signed up for Ma3 for two reasons: I liked the courses they were playing better, and I wanted to be on a card with my friends.
Dude! This content is absolutely amazing. It feels like I'm just watching the average Joe's out at my course. I really like this type of content. It feels relatable and that every day guys could be out here shooting just like this. Good job! You're commentator skills are really on full display here too. Love it
Definitely helpful. Playing what you can see is not something that has ever been told to me, and I wondered how people tackled tournaments completely blind.
Thank You Robbie! Ive been playing for 2 yrs and playing my first tournament in a few weeks, I'm 46. This helps relieve some of the anxiety and help with thought process. I'm not aiming for a career, just some competitive fun. I've never even played in a league because I work afternoon shift and cant make any that are nearby. Thanks again.
Great job Robbie, I am enjoying the content! Please keep it up. I love the idea of watching pros on the weekend and amateurs during the week, you could be onto something pretty big with showing average players to other average players (the biggest segment of participants).
I just started this video, I just played my first tournament 2 weeks ago at Oregon park, I have been only playing for 6 months, my practice rounds average to -2 to + 2 and wound up getting a plus six taking 5th in my MA4 division... I'm glad I did it, because my card had some MA3s in it and the first holes actually pretty easy, but everyone bogied it. Clearly nerves and excitement and that really opened my eyes to know that even people who've been playing several years longer than I have can suck so hard on an easy birdie just because of the tournament jitters
Definitely like this format. I believe on hole 5 with the fence unless they’ve changed the rule or I misunderstand it you can take extra relief off any lie at the cost of a stroke. If it’s OB you get the extra relief for free. So he could’ve taken the relief initially, but that’s a lot harder pill to swallow.
Honestly surprised he didn't just go with an overhand. with his height a thumber would have cleared it easily. I ended up potentially saving him some strokes in the back half by pointing out a rule, but wasn't trying to give shot suggestions to competitors.
Hey I was watching debate night. Thank you for defending ratings from the haters! Lol I love empirical numbers. It's a measurement of something I think the confusion is about what exactly is being measured. Anyway thanks for not being a bandwagon ratings hater
For better or worse, I think ratings are a pretty accurate reflection of how someone has played in their past year. The thing that haters forget is the last part: the past year. We may all be "better than our rating" right now, but what about those low rounds from last year that haven't dropped off yet? If you track everything that's currently included in your rating and even just do a simple average, you can get pretty darned close to figuring out how your rating will move in the next cycle. Yes, I like empirical data, too. 😅
I really enjoyed this, I started playing late last year and jumped into play some events this year. I get to play in the Lake Marshall Open coming up this weekend so I'm really thinking about my strategy a lot with how tough the course is. Won't be surprised if an even round is top 5 MA3, not that I'll be even! lol
I love these videos Robbie. Its almost been a year since I got my first starter set and it's great to see people at the same spot in their games as me. Spending all my time watching the pros has helped me in a lot of ways but also causes me to feel worse about my game because I can't keep up. This content shows me Im not alone where I'm at. Thank you for the great energy, content, and commentary you put out. God bless.
Nick Arnedt is doing good stuff and I am an old guy also and we both agree you put out really good advice your a little quirky but thats why we love you haha Thanks
Really love your videos and the super helpful ideas you come up with for content. The only thing I'd ask is if you pose a question in the title, give a clearer answer as I ended the video not sure if the question was answered or not. Thanks for sharing.
As another leftie, THANK YOU. I can actually follow along with shot shapes and be like "okay this is what I need to do" instead of going Ok I need to do that, but mentally picture it in reverse...
Super helpful content!! Thanks players! The ‘confidence around the putting green’ part was golden, and I now recognize that huge separation in the memories of the one tournament I played. Also, watching these guys and just seeing the levels of nervousness/frustration from every player and how that seriously affects your shots - just whether the emotion gets you on each individual shot - was eye opening. It’s making me think hard about my own emotional regulation during the round and that that’s probably a huge issue. Thanks again Matt, Steven, Dylan, Justin, and Robbie!
Robbie, this sort of content is really helpful to newer players, thank you for doing it! Lots of the same form quirks and parts of the mental game is something we all know as new players and its really helpful to hear this sort of analysis as a confidence booster. We are not alone, we are the majority, we are legion of noobs! (trying to get better at a fantastic hobby ;))
As a super casual player myself, this is great to see. I do have a question though! The course statistics Robbie has, is that data from all tournaments on that course or just that one day? And where can that data be found?
I believe MA3 was the only division to play all shorts, ma2 and the age protected divisions played mixed pads, ma1 playing all longs. So, I believe it would have just been our division on that day.
I'd LOVE to see a masters version of this video (MA50 especially) and an analysis of "old man golf." It's amazing how good your rated rounds can be by throwing accurate 250' shots, knowing when to pitch out/lay up, and making most of your C1X putts.
You nailed it my man! This was exactly the content for someone at my skill level, who is looking to try some tournaments, a peak of what to expect! Great stuff, and keep pumping them out! Thank you!
This is the kind of footage for newer players and those players who are hesitant to play in tournaments because they haven't developed the skills like a MA 1 or better.
This honestly made me want to try MA3.. I’ve never played a tournament but knowing par is kinda the bench means I can kinda hang if I don’t try silly stuff.
This is a great subject. Nice to see amateur focused videos. I have been playing 1.5 years and tournaments for 1 year. It has taken a while to learn some of the things here. Look forward to more of this series. I'm almost 50 and rated 800. Goal for 2023 is to be 840 and win a MA3 tournament. I just played a monster course at Whistler's Bend in Roseburg, OR and shot a 860 average. I have a Major in MA50 in a month the 2023 PDGA Tim Selinske United States Disc Golf Championships. Also 2 A-tier events in June and July. Keep up the great content.
Needed this a few days ago. First tournament since PCS’n home from Korea. Shot +17 in two rounds. I couldn’t let go of the putter, ‘‘twas extremely embarrassing. I’ve been putting all year while I was gone. Had a lot of confidence as I returned home. Not sure if it was nerves, simply not my time, or I’m really that bad. I’ve been using beaded putters, I think I’ll find a non beaded putter to hopefully help with the pinky snags. Man those were super bad, 10 footers turned into 20 footers real quick. 😂
Loved watching this. I'm playing in the Sharon Johnston Classic in the MA3 division on May 20th. It's my very first tournament and I've only been playing for around 5 months. I would say I'm fairly confident in the "need or greed" shot selection but my area of struggle ends up being getting in my head about obstacles in 10 -15ft range of my lie and shanking it to either side because of fear. Any tips on this?
I played a tournament round with a guy who at first seemed chill upon meeting him (he still was by round's end) but he was complaining how in the first round we had earlier in the day he didn't feel like anything was clicking or going right for him. Also started it out by saying he was disappointed by his score the previous round cause he apparently had never shot that kind of score on the course we were playing on (he was +15 round 1 and would shoot 10 strokes better after we finished our round together, for context). And after just about every throw during the first 4 and a half holes he was just getting frustrated easily and we almost considered calling him on a courtesy violation. But he had a phone call with someone (think he said it was his chiropractor) and then his entire mood changed. Still gave some comments to himself and about each of us on the card that were analytical and at times felt unsolicited but it's still crazy to me that I ended up playing a +28 and +26 round that day and was "somewhat" content with my game that someone who was clearly better than me making it seem like he's too good to shoot a score that was closer to my skill level. Wild game we play and wild types of people we meet
Thank you to the guys for allowing Robbie C to film and add commentary on your rounds. This is exactly the kind of tournament coverage I've been longing for. As a player who recently made the move from MA4 to MA3, I really enjoy being able to see where I fit within that division, and other AM divisions. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE seeing the pros sling discs as well.
Well this is good to know ... A week or so I played a round with just a random guy since the course was busy we formed up to try to keep things moving for everyone. And holy crap, that man was about 70% from 20-30 ft and about 30%from 30-40ft... Needless to say i dont recall him missing from less than 20 ft. That was such a demoralizing round ... But in hidesight I guess I should have got his number, we would have been a sick doubles team, we nearly always parred, but if wete playing best shot doubles, we probably would have been more like 4-5 under, since I cant putt to save my life currently but I able to get quite a few drives edge of c1.
Last weekend I was on a tournament in Lipica, Slovenia 🇸🇮 Beautiful place, I played two practice rounds, both practice rounds I finished only a few strokes over par, well in single digits, but in the tournament I went +10, +22, +17 (three days, golf start tournament) - only in the last round we had some windy conditions, but the first two rounds it was completely calm, dry and comfortable temperatures. Is there something like too much practice?
This is a next level concept. I so appreciate that you did MA3 instead of MA1 (at least for this first episode) it's nice to watch others that cant throw 600 and putt 50 every once in a while.
I signed up for and played my first tournament about 4 months after starting to play DG. It was the Skeeter Heater in Smyrna, TN. I had a blast and came in dead last in MA4. In the last few years I've played a few more tourneys/Challenges and have almost always had a great time and didn't come in dead last! These events just get a bit expensive and I've realized I can't handle 36 holes in a day.
This HAD to be one of my favorite rounds to watch! Can't wait for the back 8. This is what real DG is all about. Don't get me wrong, the pros are fun to watch and root for, but this is more of the kind of round us humans are used to experiencing. 😊
My max distance is about 200 feet with a 13 speed driver down hill with a 20 mph tail wind. Any subjection. Other than taking 2 weeks off and quitting .
I played my first tournament in MA3 this weekend. Putted out of my mind. Went OB 6 times but got all the bounce back birdies. My second round turned around when I realized I could have been -6 tying my course record. I guess I have to be less greedy off the tees
hey robbie this is really cool. thank you. i am a ma3 player in buena vista, colorado and this will be season 3. currenly i am ranked 743 and am looking to make some moves up the ladder this summer in 5 local events. content like this is greatly appreciated. i have built a home course that i practice on but watching other people of my skill level in different locations and terrains is very helpful. keep up the quality programming and hit me up if you are ever this way and want to play a round! take care.
Great idea. If you're low on volunteers or tournaments I bet you have some great weekly Tags rounds in your area that you might be able to film for that sub pro, more than a beginner content to film.
I love this idea of watching MAs. I've been playing MA3 and wish I was local to you to have this opportunity. I really like seeing a similar level of play to my own and hear the good and bad.
Signed up for local tags as well as slowly showing up to doubles, very different from just being out doing field work, 4th tag matchbox the year is up this weekend and I'm excited because each time I've been getting better, but as a beginner, playing for par is really a huge deal to stay in it, birdies will come.
Not meant as an insult: lt feels good watching other players have similar issues as myself. I spend plenty of time watching pros and it does little to help my confidence when considering whether or not to try and compete.
Because they have full time jobs and can only get so much time off, but still wanted to hit tourney. Stephen had actually planned on getting over here a few months ago and hitting all of these courses during the birdie fam weekend, but life got in the way and he couldn't make it. They actually did make it over the night before, but when we went out to play the practice round it started dumping rain on us right at hole 7, so we had to call it. Sometimes stuff happens, so you can either push through it like they did, or make excuses and bail.
$1,000,000 idea: Robbie C starts another channel and rents himself out as a commentator. You send him the footage, he adds the magic. I'd pay to have Robbie put a positive spin on all my bogeys.
Well done boys, loved watching, great camera work Robbie keep it up
My kind of content! Love this. More, please!
Shout out to Justin! Great to see him again!
This is Gold material! Love this!
I love Justin Ulibarri's relaxed tee shots. So smooth
😂 I reckon I must have a passing resemblance, cause this isn't the first time I've heard it.
Excellent, more please!
Great video Robbie, really enjoyed this one!
thanks for sharing this kind of content, Robbie. It helps to give a glimpse of how the tournament run for a beginner level disc golfers.
Robbie C showing that MA love!!!
Really enjoyed watching
Robbie C. Your content keeps getting better. Great idea. Super helpful. I myself am a MA3 player who’s is struggling with the jump from MA4. Thanks for all the helpful info and tips to try

I really like this kind of content mr RobbieC, GREAT job.

I second everything said here
@@scootermustang7683 ditto!!!
Bigtime props to the four players.
don't change anything. This was awesome. Gives me ideas of what I need to work on out on the course. Like not letting one bad shot lead to another.
Definitely helpful. Playing what you can see is not something that has ever been told to me, and I wondered how people tackled tournaments completely blind.
I loved this video and can't wait to see more.
P.S. more dogs as well :D
Thank You Robbie! Ive been playing for 2 yrs and playing my first tournament in a few weeks, I'm 46. This helps relieve some of the anxiety and help with thought process. Love your content, playing my second tournament this weekend. Happy I made the step into them they are a blast
Great job Robbie, I am enjoying the content! Please keep it up. I love the idea of watching pros on the weekend and amateurs during the week, you could be onto something pretty big with showing average players to other average players (the biggest segment of participants).
Speak for yourself, hole 1 is very lefty friendly for me 🤠
All seriousness though, this idea is awesome Robbie. Love what you’re doing dude

I’m doing okay, just played a rough round in the rain but overall did decent. Thanks for asking RobbieC
Woahhhhhh you said my name in a video!😂 Idk how I missed this one!!👀🤘🏻

Yo, Dylan’s caddy.
He complimented my foundation shirt at champions cup this past weekend.
Then I see him in a Robbie C video.
Small world man.
Robbie, this sort of content is really helpful to newer players, thank you for doing it! legion of noobs I love it haha
seriously cannot wait for the back nine to come out, great work!
As a super casual player myself, this is great to see. I do have a question though!
The course statistics Robbie has, is that data from all tournaments on that course or just that one day? And where can that data be found?
You can go to the PDGA event page and the info is under stats. We played that course round 1.
I believe MA3 was the only division to play all shorts, ma2 and the age protected divisions played mixed pads, ma1 playing all longs.
So, I believe it would have just been our division on that day.
This is a fantastic series can’t wait to see more!

These guys are still way better than me but I like seeing amateur/recreational content.
Loved watching this. I'm playing in the Sharon Johnston Classic in the MA3 division on May 20th. It's my very first tournament and I've only been playing for around 5 months. Love this idea! It's so fun to see relatable coverage of holes that I can actually have an idea of how I would play it! Very cool 😊
I would love to do this with you Robbie if you’re in DFW area
Thank you to the guys for allowing Robbie C to film and add commentary on your rounds. This is exactly the kind of tournament coverage I've been longing for. Don't try and fix your stroke mid round is great advice. I know from experience 😅
I'm not gonna lie kind of freaked me out that you said my name and asked how I was doing.😮😅😅 I had to replay it to make sure it was my name 😂😂
These events just get a bit expensive and I've realized I can't handle 36 holes in a day.
such a cool idea!!! very cool to see people with similar experience play and evolve their game
Love this!! Helpful to see people that are closer to my skill set play and make decisions. Great analysis Robbie!
I played my first tournament in MA3 this weekend. Putted out of my mind. Went OB 6 times but got all the bounce back birdies. My second round turned around when I realized I could have been -6 tying my course record. I guess I have to be less greedy off the tees
hey robbie this is really cool. thank you. i am a ma3 player in buena vista, colorado and this will be season 3. currenly i am ranked 743 and am looking to make some moves up the ladder this summer in 5 local events. content like this is greatly appreciated. i have built a home course that i practice on but watching other people of my skill level in different locations and terrains is very helpful. keep up the quality programming and hit me up if you are ever this way and want to play a round! take care.
This is a phenomenal format! Thanks guys for letting us tag along.
Great idea. If you're low on volunteers or tournaments I bet you have some great weekly Tags rounds in your area that you might be able to film for that sub pro, more than a beginner content to film.
Not bad. Maybe make the video a little fuzzy or skip a little so DGN doesn’t feel bad? 😂
Is the camera guy named Justin??Why did Robbie just look straight at the camera 30 seconds in and say my name???
Not meant as an insult: lt feels good watching other players have similar issues as myself. I spend plenty of time watching pros and it does little to help my confidence when considering whether or not to try and compete.
There’s a really good pro bowler named EJ Tackett. You remind me of him. Lol
foot fault
why would you want to play a tournament blind? maybe they should just use someone else's bag and discs while there at it
