Hello from Scotland, Robbie. Thanks for your hard work, I always enjoy watching your videos & how you break things down very easily. One thing that's quite interesting about Isaac's putt is how "casually" he throws his putters especially when you compare him against Calvin who's almost meticulous in throwing flat & dead straight every time. It sometimes looks like he doesn't have a care in the world when it comes to putting when many other pros (Calvin, Ricky, Eagle, Klein etc) all go through the same motions every time. Anyway, I'll leave it there. All the best Robbie, wish you well my man :)
I have always putted with a spin putter. I hold my wrist in the same way as you showed in the video. The best way to eliminate right and left misses is to keep your wrist relaxed and let it roll open from the force of the push. When the wrist is not actively used, then the wrist does not open too much and it does not take throws from the right.
I can’t remember where I heard this tip, but what helped me as a spin putter was popping the disc out at like 95% of your stroke. For me it corrected my issue of missing right a lot.
Very accurate video on spin putting. I've evolved from push putting to spin putting over the course of my two years playing. I changed to get more distance and flatness. I did have the problem going right, but improved it by focusing on not letting my hand move beyond the basket pole. The longer the putt, the more I curl the wrist and take it from center of stomach to side and release a little higher.
Interesting. I've spent the past month working to get the hyzer OUT of my putt. My thinking is that while it doesn't matter much inside of 20ft, as you get further away that hyzer puts more right-left movement into the flight that you have to account for. I would think a straighter flight lets you focus just on the vertical axis instead of needing accuracy on both axes.
I absolutely LOVE your putting-style breakdown videos. I'm a guy who was focusing on throwing far for several years and always disregarded putting because I found the school of thought "just do either a spin putt or a push putt" ridiculous, vague, and confusing. Only recently I decided to GIT GUD and your breakdown of putting mechanics is better and more accessible than anyone else I've seen. Thanks a ton!! More like this please!
Thanks for asking Rob. Things is things... Putting is worst part of my game :( Still love love the game and love watching your content. Thank you so much for your time and guidance. 😊
As a fairly new (June 2021) disc golfer, I am a primarily spin putter. But I practice putting by using every type of disc in my bag. It's amazing how effective it is to use fairway drivers from 30 feet and further when I need more "ooomph" on my distance putts.
You're definitely on to something here. I stopped at my local dgc today and tried this approach. I was already looking into revising my putt form. No joke, I took 5 putters and made 4-5 out of 5 everytime. I even went back 30 feet. I watch the pros closely when I attend pdga events and they all have very similar putting forms with their hand placement and stance. But Issac is definitely having the most success. The accuracy and speed is incredible to me. I can't believe it's this easy. Watch, I will go back tomorrow and miss 5 out of 5 😅
As someone who has been working Isaac's putting style into my own, I thought this was excellent. I can't step up and insta-putt the way he does because of other issues I have, but the slight hyzer on the putt that both he and McBeth have further increased my belief that I was focusing too much on "flat putt or bust." Feeling the weight of the putter is a real thing and something that is definitely not discussed enough.
Thanks for the instruction. I just played a tournament and couldn't putt... until the tournament was over. I found I could make my heavy condor from 30 and 40 ft almost every time. The weight of the disc was correcting me I believe. You put it in perspective the most important thing in putting I believe.
Since I mostly watch just FPO, I'd love to see a break down of ohn scoggins and Kristen tattar putts. I feel like those two are the best women on the green!
Great video 👍 Please break down MattyO’s putt. I have tried to understand his putting technique but I’m as clueless as when watching a magician 😮 I don’t believe in trying to use his putting style myself but I want to at least understand it.
I have been known to shout "Matty O!" While attempting to putt his way. It's elbow. Very hard to do when if your like most players and putt in a more conventional way because it's completely different concept. He doesn't get his body into it for power or weight shift. Although his pre putt motion he kind of mimicks a traditional putt!
@6:00 I don't know who Issac is but that's how I predominantly putt if I'm further than 10 feet back - sometimes closer but depends on the wind for that reason it puts much power easily for me. It's all a smooth motion and much has to do with the hips. Takes much less time to position and fire.
I've adopted his style of putt, a critical part of it is the body weight transfer which is difficult to see. From close range to 20 feet I rear back and transfer my weight forward but not quite lifting my rear foot. For 20-33' I lift my rear foot as I'm transferring my weight forward but not enough to disrupt my balance and fall forward. For 33' to 50' I lift my rear foot and step through putting slightly more body into the motion. For 50'-80' I put a 2nd hand on the disc to give it a little extra oomph. I always aim straight at the pole with a slight annie so it flattens out as it approaches the basket. If a tree forces a hyzer putt I do everything the same except I aim higher right the further back I go
Great video, I watched Gannon Buhr's putting video and he also recommends throwing on a slight hyzer to give the disc a chance to catch chains if it is a little outside the center. The part I struggle with is the finger pop and getting that power. My putts are less wobbly versions of Ohn Scoggins putts. :)
I'm currently having a lot of success with a super-flexed wrist, where the edge of the disc is actually under my forearm. Gives me a lot more range and surprisingly good accuracy.
Isaac putting mechanic is a lot about body balance and lower core engagement, he doesn't transfert much his body weight forward and has a very stable stance, engaged core all along combined with great balance control and what you explain in the vid gives him that effortless power, the slight hyzer is a key feature for this style of putting
Trying to figure out my putting right now. Ditching the Envy for putting and trying out both Atoms and Nomads. Ordered a couple extras of each to give them both a fair run and had to throw in a DiscDots to my order to get that free shipping from the retailer. Looking forward to using them!
That feeling the weight of the putter is a solid tip. Immediately noticing a difference in smoothness of release and accuracy. I was definitely gripping too hard and trying to release the disc at the target vs letting the disc sorta slip out towards the target. All over great tips to implement, definitely feels like a more effortless putt.
Coincidentally, this is very close to the style I’ve developed after playing about 15 years. I never watched videos like this before, so I don’t even know if I’m a “spin” or “push” putter. So this video spoke to me because it’s so close (aesthetically speaking) While I very rarely miss left or right, (usually high/low) I get totally stuck outside 50’ish feet, but this video may help fix that.. 🤔 ty!
This is crazy, never watched Isaac putt, heck never really watched anybody or study their putt, but this is exactly how I putt, I get told all the time I'm doing it wrong, but this is exactly my style just was natural to me when I started playing, never tried correcting it or doing anything different cause it just felt natural...and now I see someone on pro tour putts identical to me.....
With regards to the C1x stats, bullseyes don't count towards that stat, so every time they park the hole, it's like a walk in baseball. Those stats would likely be at least 5, if not 10% higher for the top players if bullseyes were counted towards C1x
As I am now growing confident in the 20 or less, but the 20 or more is resulting the the helicopter putt. Instead of going at the band, it goes right and high and then crashing left toward the basket, but if its windy, its gone.
I see others talk about the putter being out of the hand half way through the motion. Is there a break down of that? I've tried releasing the putter early and keep following through with some success, but it feels weird
@name7892 I was going to say the same thing! He would be such a great player of he spent the time and changed his putting form. That hyzer putt is laughable
One of the critical aspects of Issacs putting style is his grip. Which is a fan grip but with the pinkie locked down on the rim as in a power grip. Feels clumsy at first but once you get comfortable with it; it has made a huge difference for me in circle 2 putting .

Thanks for getting me back on track with this video. Your breakdown and explanation helped me find out what was wrong with my putt.

Well said. I can't control the hyzer and how far to aim right 30'+

I'm having one of those days, but every day above ground is a good one. Thanks for askin RobbieC.

A month in and I sometimes forget that I know how to putt like a beast. Lol! This is STILL working for me. Bangin chains more than before!
What helped me learn Isaac's putt was watching the Gannon buhr putting vid. He shows you how to align your body.
As someone who has been working Isaac's putting style into my own, I thought this was excellent. I can't step up and insta-putt the way he does because of other issues I have, but the slight hyzer on the putt that both he and McBeth have further increased my belief that I was focusing too much on "flat putt or bust." Love Isaac! Just picked up an Archive. It's amazing! Flies super straight with a consistent finish. Feels great in the hand too.

He is something else! Very unique putt but he's damn good at it. He won MVP open thanks to that putt.
@@barrypeirson3710 I have watched his putting in slowmotion but i still don't understand it :)

Petition for robbie to make a magic tricks video
I love you breaking down how the pros do it. Fantastic execution! I wonder how many people would use this form themselves.
Great looking Aussie!!

I use Judges. They're amazing in classic blend plastic.
I currently am using envy’s as well but have an atom in the mail, hopefully it works for both of us
When I used mvp putters for putting, I liked the r2 ion and the spin. Envy is ok for a throwing putter, but I prefer the proxy.
I'm doing pretty good. Thanks for asking!
That feeling the weight of the putter is a solid tip. Immediately noticing a difference in smoothness of release and accuracy.

Muchas gracias
I’ve used a little bit of the mini hyzer putt, I like it for longer bids as it usually stays closer for the comeback than a spin putt.

Can you break down Matty O's putt?
After watching Ben Callaway at maple hill and seeing his stats, I’d say his putt would make a worthwhile study piece.
Bro awesome content
Kristin Tatar has a great putt. The McBeast and Ricky are also fantastic putters.
I'll say I never thought of electrical tape but that's a great free option. Thank you Robbie!
I usually use a flat spin putt out to circle 2 and a hyzer putt out past that, but I'm willing to try the hyzer at all distance.
Dude, great video. Wish you lived closer, would love to shoot a round with ya. Cheers!!!!
Dude you do magic?!?!?!?! You have to let me show you my strongest effects lol
I’ve been waiting for it to happen, and oh boy does that feel weird 🤣
Well I didn’t expect the name thing to get me, but here we are. I’ve been got.
Great video, Please review eagles putting style.
You know a guy is a real magician if he calls it an "effect".

the less thought with Putting works wonders but you do have to sight exactly where you want that thing to go that's crucial.
As I am now growing confident in the 20 or less, but the 20 or more is resulting the the helicopter putt. Instead of going at the band, it goes right and high and then crashing left toward the basket, but if its windy, its gone.

Robbie I see a Robbie c patch on your bag ... how do I buy one ?
My guess is you become a patreon.
I’d love for you to break down Garrett Gurthie’s putt!!
The extreme hyzer putt, doesn't work that well in wind does it!?
The breakdown would be, "Don't putt like this."
@name7892 I was going to say the same thing! He would be such a great player of he spent the time and changed his putting form. That hyzer putt is laughable
Or how about Sarah Hokom's contortionist putt.
Or evelinas putt pre 2023 season
Look hyzer is the most consistent throw, it's not shocking it can be a very consistent putt too.
I call push putt "the monkey putt" poop in your hand, throw it at the crowd. Leo it works for me
Your beard is good...that's a compliment about your beard being good...
I started spinning it like I don’t care. Not sure it made me better but it feels good when it goes in lol
Robbie just sleight of handed his wife right out of the frame. POOF!!!!
One of the critical aspects of Issacs putting style is his grip. Which is a fan grip but with the pinkie locked down on the rim as in a power grip. Feels clumsy at first but once you get comfortable with it; it has made a huge difference for me in circle 2 putting .
Really? When you watch the Discgod video about Isaac Robinson's putting is that he doesn't put his pinky on the rim.
Dude Isaac doesnt put his pinkie on the rim I think you confused with Eagle and Simon.
Nice
How are you doing, Robbie C?
This is literally describing my putt 😅
Come on Robbie. You need to weedeat after mowing.😂😂😂
Anyways I'm pretty in to close up magic
I want to know to things? 1. How’s the rat healing up? 2. What did your wife say when you disappeared her outta the video? Lol
Just put some dollars in those chains and play “putt for bucks”
690th like....

Who gives a flying crap that little piece of plastic is recycled. Ridiculous
I sent you a DM on instagram about meeting up next month!
