WOW I never even knew adapters like these existed. It is a cool concept. The 8 inch adapter barrel should act like a 8 inch pistol barrel. Whereas the shotguns shoulder bu*t and the long sights theoretically should allow for better aiming. I love it when something is invented that gives a tool/gun multiple purposes like this.
Modify a choke tube to except a neoprene wipe and with an 8-inch adapter and a 16 and a half inch or 18 in open space in between you got a pretty effective integral suppressor
I think the notch on the adapter where the bullet goes in is supposed to be facing down to prevent the shotgun from trying to eject the adapter. I found this does make it a bit harder to unload the shell though. Thanks for the vid.
These have always seemed pretty useful. If they don't make them for magnum rounds, a 45 Colt might be the way to go. It would be easy to tailor hanloads to take advantage of the barrel length, loaded to SAAMI pressure limit (which is only 14,400 anyway). If they could ever make one for 30 Carbine, that would be very useful, with a good effective range. If i had a vaca cabin somewhere, i would get a single shot 12 ga to keep there, with an insert or 2. Talk about versatility. Load with buck or slug for self defense or bear defense, and use the inserts for recreational shooting or small game hunting. Would be a great teaching tool too. Single shot actions tend to force a person to work on theur follow through. Reduced noise and recoil of a handgun cartridge through a rifle length barrel is helpful too.
Great video. The rifled adapters are the only way to go. I have the 12ga to 9mm short non rifled adapter and the rounds were all over the place, also hitting sideways etc.. Gonna order the rifled one now, probably in .38 cause it's better round than the 9mm from what i gather from your videos. Thanks for reviewing all these adapters.
Okay thanks a bunch. Gonna check out the OpticsPlanet site and see if they'll ship their 12 ga adapters to the Netherlands, I've been having a hard time finding companies that'll ship the rifled adapters to Holland. Happy shooting.
I'm fortunate enough to already have one of the hard to find H&R 357 magnum rifles which is extremely accurate, but I might get this 38 special adapter for my scoped H&R 12ga Ultra Light. I already have a few of their other 8 inch rifled adapters and I was very impressed with their accuracy. The first one I bought was the 9mm adapter and then they ran a buy one get one for 50% off sale so I bought the 45 ACP adapter and the 22LR adapter. I think the next time I see them run a sale like that again I'm going to get one in 38 special and one in 45 Colt. I wish they would make one in 300 AAC Blackout even if it was only for low pressure sub sonic loads. I also wouldn't mind having one in 10mm or even just 40 S&W. If they made one in 327 magnum it would be able to shoot many different 32 caliber cartridges. The only problem with that adapter is that it might not be too popular, but I bet a 10mm, 40 S&W or 300 AAC adapter would be fairly popular.
That kind of accuracy at 50 yards is a dead deer any day of the week. If I could only have one gun, it would be a 357 J-frame size revolver (I have a SW 640, but a SW 340PD, Kimber K6s, Ruger SP101, or equivalent would work too. They’ll kill bears with flat nose hardcast, and you can conceal them in almost any type of clothing). If I could only have 2 guns, they would be a 357 j-frame size revolver and a 12 gauge break-barrel shotgun (I have a Stoeger coach gun double barrel, but single barrel H&R is a great choice too). I’ve shot all sorts of inserts in my coach gun, and even black powder shells for cowboy action competitions.
I have the 38sp 45LC and other adapters. I noticed as I shot it I would open the breach and clock the adapter 1/4 turn at a time and almost got my single shot Stevens hitting dead on at 50yd and 1in low at 100yd. And I marked the receiver and the adapter so I know where to put it every time to make that 1 shot count. Something you could try.
I have a NEF SB-2 with a 20 gauge barrel, among others, I would like to know if it could take a 30 Carbine. I also got the 38 Spec/357 Mag barrel, I had it chambered to take the 357 Max cartridge. Brass is somewhat scarce but from a 22 inch barrel it's a formidable cartridge.
Dang, Id sure like to come across one of those, but I bet people who have them are hanging on to them. just sad that Remington has ruined H&R and NEF hard to believe they ain't gonna make them anymore.
So the only ones you can buy now are the rifled barrel ones. They make a tracker that's the closest thing. Will those adapters fit in one of those guns.
It sucks that the gunadapter company doesn't make .357 or a 5.56 adapter. I also think it would be good if they had a pick 4 adapter program for a reasonable price. Thanks for posting this.
I would strongly advise against trying to make this work. The shotgun receiver from the likes of H&R, NEF, and other single barrel shotgun manufacturers cannot support the pressure that a center fire rifle cartridge creates. You can find shotgun barrel conversions for the Thompson Center, NEF, H&R Rifles, *BUT* it is highly inadvisable to reverse this with rifle barrels on a shotgun receiver. Would it work once? Maybe. Don't end up in the obituaries trying to fabri-cobble something together, my friend.
@@rhubarbpie2027, IF you had the H&R SB2 receiver made for rifle cartridges/rifled slug and higher pressures I say go for it. If yours is just the SB1 made for shotguns and light pressure rifle ammo then YMMV. Good luck!
