Scott issues a couple of updates to the original whisky shelves video he made awhile back. Looking to improve upon his first shelving unit, Scott made several changes and shows you how to do it. Watch the first video How to Build Whisky Shelves.

Very nice looking addition
I needed this! Thank you
Boom
I second the comment I just made on the 1st vid, and add a WOW. What an impressive setup and collection. Cheers to you good sir.
Thank you kindly!
Hey, Scott, really nice whiskey addition. Cool Industrial vibe. All my shelves are individual wooden boxes, stacked to make bookcases having various heights, so in case of fire, I can grab the good stuff and be out the
door.
i'm in trouble in case of fire!
It's a Whisky Wonderland!
muwahahahaha! Makes for an interesting decision each night!
Nice shelving system, I really like the look. Nice whisky collection too!
thanks Kieran.
Great video that helped me a ton! I took your advice on risers for my 18” spacer. I used a 4x6 board in the back and a 2x6 in the front. Worked perfectly on a 2x12 board.
Excellent, thanks Tanner!
I'm working on a design for a whiskey cabinet so I'm searching out ideas and came across your two on your selves. I'm going to use your riser idea inside my cabinet. Thanks!
Go for it!
Awesome. Nice work Scott.
Thanks Walt!
Thanks for the video, love the idea. I plan on making mine free standing.
thanks Steve.
Great work. Nice shelves, Scott!
thanks Aimee.
Nicely done. One always needs more room for more whiskies. 😊
Thanks Jas!
This is very helpful! If you wanted to go deeper, could you use 18” pipes as the board supports? You could join a 2 X 12 and a 2 X 6 for the actual shelf. Or would this be too far from the wall and reduce the strength of your shelf?
You could
The improvements are pleasing to The Spirit Monk[e]y.
most excellent! crossed off the list...please the Spirit Monk(e)y!
Again, genius, my friend...💡💡💡

thanks Algrim!
Just a little confused on one topic. In video one you showed to use 12" pipe for the horizontal supports for the boards. You used 2x10" boards with them. In the second video, you mentioned shifting to 2x12" boards but I believe you said to use 12" pipe for the horizontal supports? Did you use the same length support bars or?
yes, lesson i learned after the first set of shelves. you can use 2x12 boards with the 12 inch horizontal pipe. Gives a little more shelf space and they fit just fine!
Very nice looking
thanks Travis!
Looking good.
thanks Carl.
Thsnks for the video Scott, I Will have to put stuff in metric to find out what is what, but norally pipe should come in inches here to for gas pieps.
Google it! thanks Rombout!
What's the distance between each shelf? Trying to see if I can use 3/4x14in and still fit the taller bottles...
Scott, great videos - both of them. Did you say all of your shelving boards are 2x10 or are some 2x12? It looks like the ones you are using give you plenty of depth for two rows if they are 2x10s. love the idea of adding the 2x4 to use as a riser. Have you had any issues with the boards sagging from the weight? Thanks again for the vids and cheers.
the first set of shelves I used 2x10's and then 2x12's after that. 2x12's work better. No sagging at all, but that could depend on how far you go between supports. Mine are two studs or 32 inches and it would take quite a bit more weight before sagging.
Thanks for this video Scott. What did you use to finish the shelves?
The MInwax Polyshades in Espresso finish.
Maybe it was mentioned and i missed it but what is the actual height on your 12" shelves? I'm doing something very similar and trying to calculate total height with the t-fittings and 2x12.
just measured and they're pretty true, the 12 pipe results in a 12 1/4 inch shelf and the 18 inch pipes give an 18 1/4 inch shelf
Thanks Scott! Much appreciated.
Really nice. Being stuck at home for a while, I think I need to take on this project and build something in the basement for additional shelves. By any chance, do you know or still have the seller from eBay that you bought all the stuff from? On another note, I am assuming, you bought the 2x4's from local Hardware store?
all the wood was Home Depot/Lowes and the pipe from different sellers, just whoever was the cheapest!
I didn’t see any shelves, just gorgeous bottles.
yep! shelves? there were shelves?!
No power pony needed. If you don't want the threads to show, you can hack saw the pipes about 1/2 from each end.
thats a good tip, sounds like a part 3.
I just kept noticing that bottle of Weller 12...
haha! thanks Doug.
I do like this look, though. Thinking I'll do the same thing in my home bar.
Ceiling height of the room?
basement, 7 1/2 feet.
Looks solid as heck, do you ever sleep?
we'll get plenty of sleep when we're dead haha
👏👏👏
👍
Did I see a wooden glencairn
yes, those were done and sold by Sipdark.com not sure if they're still selling them or not.
Do you allready have the new flaming heart?
yes!
Can't let wife see this video, she would want shelves like this without the whiskey
they only work with whisky!
Damn $150..? That’s three bottles of wkiskey!
haha! thanks Jan-Paul!
