I've never hit 90C on my 5700xt(regular edition) in 4k, and my over clock from my best knowledge is the same as the anniversary editions OC. My top temperature is 82C, i can't replicate everything you were doing in this video but my experience with this card has been very nice, it's a very good 1080p/1440p card.

Man, the thing is most people just want a good GPU out of the box, even if you were to buy a waterblock or aftermarket cooler you are spending 50-150+ extra. Not to mention all the other things you need to run a custom loop. You can just buy a rtx 2070 super, that already has a decent cooler out of the box, for a similar price to that of the 5700 xt plus cooler/waterblock(with custom loop.) It's such a shame, really.

That's if you take the cooler off an replace the thermal pad with thermal paste, it won't stop it from hitting 90c, I will test it though

Was wondering if you could do another video on it possibly with ryzen 3700x or something. Kinda wanna know how my board would do with that cpu. Either way enjoy watching your content! Keep it up!
I absolutely LOVE the Arctic accelero. It saved my BFG (blower style) GTX 280 after years of use and apparently it's even a huge improvement on 2080Ti temps. It's just a plain amazing product that is much cheaper than AiO.
I would've liked a comparison with the original 5700 XT and see how they differ in the benchmarks :/
1440 resolution with the 5700 versions would have been nice to see after.
It's a boss 1440p card, I don't have a regular 5700 XT sorry, I guess I could down clock it and run the benchmarks

For heaven's sake.... Why doesn't anyone bench these cards paired with a ryzen cpu??
Even today, ten months after you're comment Intel is still king when it comes to games even if it is a tiny margin. If you are testing a graphics card capabilities you want to pair it with the most capable cpu in order to avoid a CPU bottleneck. That being said I would love to see amd results as well because things don't always react the way you would think especially when it comes to Ryzen cpu's.

The Radeon 7 is one impressive card. It really competes with the 2080, especially at 4K. I imagine it's the type of card that'll age well.

@@The_Curious_Cat when I play games at 4K in High Settings it stays around 60 to 65 Celsius. The stock cooler would go up to 70 to 75 Celsius.

I'm currently planning what to do with my soon to be out of service Ryzen 1600 CPU, and was thinking of making a dedicated workstation computer for low end CAD & amateur Photography use. Reviews on workstation class cards are very thin.

I remember buying the first 290 that came out with the leafblower cooler. first thing i did was buy that accelero when it came out, holy shit was it a major improvement.
luckily i could flash my card to a 290x, so it was a win win win (last win for wind speeds in my room)
I got the Accelero III on my 5700xt and it really helps the thermals. Overclocking, not so much. So I under-volted the card and it sings.
Hi Timmy, when you mount the artic one put a fan on the back with the big cooler plate it will help allot, on my rx480 vrm went from 90c to 70c with 1.2v.
Great video! This will probably be the upgrade I need for now. Do you think you could review the asrock A320TM-ITX mother board (thin mini itx made for ryzen APUs) with the intel HTS1155LP cooler? (yes i know the sockets dont match but the am4 motherboard has mounting for 115x not am4) I would like to see how thin Ryzen APU gaming can be for portable applications.

I noticed that type of "Xmas lights" artifacting if you push the RTX memory clocks too far. Possibly a memory issue. No surprise the gddr6 mem has been suspect since RTX failures. Now we are seeing similarities with 5700 cards. My understanding it's the same mem suppliers for both cards.
995mhz on mine under water. Pretty sure it's just extremely temp sensitive.

@@integer0verload948 400? Less than half of stock? That's um... interesting. I've had exactly zero issues. No artifacts, no anything. And the gddr6 actually comes from 2 manufacturers on this card: micron and Samsung.
My RX 580 started doing the Christmas lights artifacting after I tried to undervolt the core too far.
My 2080 is running +1400 on the memory....
My XT with stock cooler hits 21XXMHz no problems in benchmarks. For gaming I even the stock fan profile keeps it at 80C.
@Keoal Kel considering 21XX isn't a real number, I'm guessing that he does have some numbers from Wattman.

i had my 5700 xt artifacting and blue screen as well and i had to RMA the card now my new card and 19.7.5 software it runs with no issues and i am pretty happy with the preformance minus waiting the 3 weeks for a new card lol..
Morpheus II on my Vega 64 reference worked pretty well. Waiting for non-reference versions this time ;)
Try image sharpening and ~75-80% resolution scaling at 4K. Image quality should look the same as 4K and performance would be better.
Technically, unless you run 4k on a 4k monitor you won't see much difference.
So it's another thing to benchmark in 4k when your monitor can't see it.
Performance before and the new cooler after :) Artic Makes pretty good coolers btw And i get your fustration, i do. But make the best of it buddy!
Lampuhkap's Shaving Channel yeah that Artic cooler is supposed to be better then most aib coolers since you can put heatsinks directly on the VRAM and actively cool them as well as the giant heatsink backplate.

The best way to use this card currently is to set it at 1900MHz/990mV and fan speed to 40%. Card should be quiet, clock should be around 1870MHz and card shoudn't exceed 75 degrees. This card is painful to use at stock settings, OC turns that thing into vacuum cleaner... I traded it for 1080Ti anyway, it was too damn hot and loud, Black Ops 4 was causing entire driver to crash, Bo1 was a stutterfest and overall I felt like games weren't that smooth like on nvidia GPUs. Even Witcher 3 was stuttering. I like this card overall but drivers are terrible currently, card has problems in some games like Call of Duty BO4 and BO1 and many other smaller issues that just destroy the experience... I'm thinking about getting Asus Strix 5700XT once it comes out but I'm afraid I may get same annoying issues again. It just fu**ing sucks when you wanna play a game but it keeps stuttering or entire driver crashes and screen freezes...

Running 5700 xt (non AE) @ 1102mv, stock clocks, pl unchanged, It runs with 1950-2020mhz clocks at 1440p, 77-79 degrees with a stock fun curve (2100rpm) which is relatively quiet for me.
I also sold my Radeon VII and bought a 5700XT Anniversary Edition....And I regret it a little bit too. Like, the 5700XT gets so close it's not a bad value for sure. I did the washer mod and put the GPU on kryonaut and it helped. stock clocks and stock voltages hang around 80c on the GPU, low 90's on the junction, and low to mid 80's on the GDDR6. If I mess with the voltage at all I'll get some crashing but I also noticed in GPU-Z that if you leave the voltage alone it goes up and down all on it's own. I've seen it go from 1.1 all the way up to 1.2.

I had a weird experience with my 5700xt where using afterburner was a total mess compared to wattman. I swear afterburner doesn’t work properly with these cards and it might be showing junction temperature instead of regular temps. Plus the card was extremely loud with afterburner but silent at 2600 rpms with wattman. My undervolt was sliding frequency to 1950mhz. And setting voltage to 1076. Then I set a custom fan curve so that 80 degrees would meet with about 45% fans and the card is amazing. I can run prey and wolfenstein Youngblood with the card hitting near 100% while only reaching between 72 and 77 degrees. I swear afterburner is broke with Navi.
My understanding is that these gpus are already clocked to their limit. It would explain the card you had to send back, it was probably not binned well enough. It would also explain the high temperatures (aside from the blower cooler).
I agree Timmy also have the anniversary edition 5700xt and while it looks nice and it is an excellent 1440p card....they really need to get the drivers straight... hell even 19.7.5 driver update is still not great I can’t use freesynce and msi afterburner at the same time because I get blinking screens lol and it’s an actual thing... lots of people have had that issue that and some games just crash for shit...Division 2 crashes at least for me and far cry new dawn, put my 1080ti back in....no issue whatsoever so I know it’s the card and drivers not my Rig... so until we get some better driver updates for Navi...I’ll just keep my other card in it..good truthful video my friend...

Well, that cooler is nice and would work if AMD didn't use a thermal pad, you can paste it, but you'd have to use washers under the tension thing on the back of the die to increase the mounting pressure, it'd help with temps, but not so much with noise, the thing would still be just as loud, maybe a hair quieter.

Can you try the 4 plastic washers under the mounting points on the back before you put on the aftermarket cooler? I'm interested if this is also affected by the pressure not being enough to properly squish the thermal pad on the GPU.
it's not a preassure thing, they put the washers on when they removed that stupid thick pad and slapped paste between it instead ;-)

My rx 5700xt running raijintek morpheus II core cooler atm. Temps 30-60c idle and gaming. Only memory still similar to stock which is around 80c+ when gaming. Gonna find copper memory heatsinks to replace the aluminium heatsink by raijintek.

You can better se differences at 4k on lower resulutions you can get cpu bound in lighter games.

That card is for someone like me, I care more about how my card looks in my system then I care about getting the most extreme performance. The games I play don't need that crazy over the edge performance and I love making my cases look good as possible.

@Timmy Joe PC Tech, have you updated to the latest beta radeon settings software, my card (5700xt anniversary edition) now never goes above 65cedge temp75chotspot, the volts used to be 1.77max its now 1.31max, genuinely does seem seem to of been a microcode/drivers thing as I'm still on the stock cooler and it's now so quiet all the time whilst keeping the temps much much lower than it was before

Can you take the accelero heatsink and strap 3 90x15 noctua fans on it after spray painting the blades Radeon red.
Then make a black GPU chassis out of sheet metal.
Then buy a Radeon LED light for the side.

I have that exact accelero cooler that someone put on an r9 270x. i found it at free geek in portland OR and they didn't want to sell it to me because it was modded. I got it for $40 us

Oof...I usually wear a headset when I'm on my computer, so I barely even notice the noise from the blower. Mine's doing just fine, and I also have the Anniversary Edition.

I’m so glad I bought my 3700x (turned out to be DOA) from Newegg and not directly from AMD, I returned it and a new one was delivered within about 8 days.
Its a little bit odd( and I am REALLY not trolling here) the asus 2700 turbo evo uses a blower fan, and it is as quiet as a mouse(not when overclocked under load). I use it for a small fractal design case, and its really cool. I don't know what the problem is with blower cards, they get rid of the heat.
I now know 2 5700XT I R L owners ,who've both had their cards died in the 1st few days or week,to both need an RMA.Both did the 5700 Powerplay mod. I have a Asus Fury Nano White,a Fury X 4gb + 4770k,in one system,and a eVGA 2080Ti black with 32Gb 3200 ram, a 960Gb Corsair m.2 mp510 SSD and a R7 3700x + x570 Gaming Plus.
I wish wish AMD would give Adobe a chunk of cash and get some kind of 'Intel Quick Sync' or 'CUDA Acceleration' equivalent for their GPU's so there's a semblance of competition for editors. Honestly can't reasonably see myself buying AMD.. ever without something like that.

The green screen is afterburner moving the fan speed automatically in my case, also causes screen flicker.
Timmy, you must use Wattman to put up the fan safly, if you not use it you will get green or somting else screen. I have no problem with heat, my card is going up to 83C on a rpm of 3400 max. I have absoulutly no problem with the card. I even play on 4k every game on the highest settings possible to hit atleast 60 FPS
Sad thing is, I was trying to theme a potential build after the pokemon arceus. And while this is a great looking card, and would be fantastic performance for the price, it doesn't come in white like I would need it to *aesthetically fit the theme*.
What do you mean the way Nvidia treats their customers? Here is my experience with them. I bought a ASUS VG248QE years ago, and then about a year after I bought it, Linus was having a contest of sorts to win a G-Sync mod. Myself and 4 others won the mod. I installed the G-Sync mod and about 2 months later, the screen took a shit (A big thick vertical line top to bottom and left to center of the screen). I had Bryan Del Rizzo's email (Linus had me send the info to Rizzo's email so he could send mod out to my address). Anyhow, I emailed him about the issue and he sent me a brand new monitor overnight shipping. It happened on Friday after I got home from work and I had a new monitor on Monday. All I needed to do next was send him my broken monitor in the box that the new one shipped in. I didn't even have to pay for shipping. They covered everything, that is my experience with Nvidia. They didn't have to do that at all, the monitor was bought at Microcenter and the warranty was way expired. The monitor is about 6 years old now and I still use it everyday.

How do I stop the gpu pcb sagging? I have a old gtx 770 with an arctic accelero III smacked on it, the same as in the video. And oh boi the sag is real. Like it bends more than 2 cm. the pcb is round when installed in my pc. Outside its flat (probably the weight of the cooler). My card was a founders edition with that loud jet engine cooler. How do i make it flat? Is a backplate still worth it? My old rig is fresh installed in a new h500p mesh case (case swap )if someone can help me
So VRAM OC is still locked to under 900mhz before it starts to artifact or crash?
It negatively affects the frame times increasing it at all above 900. It starts to artifact at 907
