If bringing the clocks down fixes the artifacting, then it's very possible the driver is overriding the cards BIOS on the power/clock tables and pushing it too far. Hopefully its just a driver issue and another update might fix this.
Good solid coverage. Kudos.

My RTX 2060 was artificating the same day I got it lol, but i'm pretty sure Nvidia and their 2000 series in general was having a lot of XD artifact problems. Probably something to do with the GDDR6?
Just shows not even Nvidia is perfect. 2080s and tis were having that ace of spades artifacting at launch too

@@WuClear no it's not....
@UCim-XvMp4Y35gULMVzsajOQ Yes, that's meant to be there. It's a design choice; why they would do something like that, I don't know.
Imho, they should've stuck with the aluminium shroud with at least 2 fans. That would've looked damn good, and performed better than this blower trash.

Loved that intro! ❤️
I got a 5700XT last week and have that crashing issue when trying to adjust the fan curve. I ran DDU on the driver a few days ago and didn't even open Wattman when I reinstalled the driver, so the card is completely running stock - no issues at all now and runs perfectly fine. Seems like a driver issue for me, but I would like to adjust the fan a little to get lower temps as the card is pretty quiet at stock. I still have until mid August to return the card so I'll wait and see if new driver fixes it before then
That's defective VRAM. Needs to be replaced.
Looks like bad VRAM to me too. I had this happen to me on older cards when I push the VRAM clock too high. Probably bad VRAM chips or they were overheating. Or both.
It also does that if the solder balls under the GPU break from thermal stress, but I really hope they wouldn't try unleaded solder again after what happened in 2008.
What he needs is getting his money back.
the square artifacts are VRAM but the circular flashes are core.
judging by the temperatures in battlefield and far cry specifically (80-90°C) i'd expect hotspot temps and VRAM temps to be 100°C + ... while fan speeds are at medium.
something has been wrongly set here. either manual fan curve with ~2200 RPM max .
He can download more RAM at the Microsoft website
Have you lowered the vram clock speed? @Timmy Joe PC Tech
THIS
VRam clockspeed cant be lowered. ITS 875 and thats the lowest end.
That is an awesome looking card, hopefully you get a working sample soon champ!!!
I saw your ad for the radeon 7 on kijiji the other day but I'm in Toronto and you are in North Bay!
I may have been extremely lucky, but in the 11 GPUs i've had since 2007 (1 AMD) both used and new, i've never had artifacting issues.
I do remember my old RTX2080 had some strange geometry artifacting with RTX on rarely, but that's it.
Man, it's painful to see the disappointment of getting faulty hardware doesn't die with experience. I mean that's some shitty luck there. Still a fun video though to watch.
Dude I never knew they talked about you on Jason Ellis! That's my favorite radio show! Awesome. Heard Jason and Will and was wondering how I started playing the show HAHAHA. Sucks about the Anniversary Edition though brother. Appreciate what you do for us man, thanks for all the content.
Yea shipping was not great with the 5700 XT AE. Mine was just moving from one side of the box to the other when I got it. Once I got the driver issues solved with my card, I haven't had any problems! Love this sexy beast!
Ugh, I prefer vacuum cleaner levels of noise over 90c temps.
It's probably the graphite thermal pad that is the culprit.

I really wanna see numbers on these cards with aftermarket cooling. Timmy do you have an Arctic Accelero or Raijintek Morpheus lying around?
I had this happen 15 years ago. I got a new card in and immediately plugged it into my system and after some time it started to present the symptoms that you have in your video. After some testing, I found that the card had moisture from it being cold at the time it was shipped. Now, I always leave new cards in the house for a bit so they can reach room temperature before unboxing.

Timmy Joe,
Anyway to plug the fan into an external device and power it separately? If it doesn't do a hissy fit when the fan "disappears" from the card then maybe NOT needing to provide that card will stabilize things. I doubt it's a "loose connection" since everything's very soldered down but it could be something like a borderline functioning power component which is likely a quality control issue that requires either you DOWNCLOCK to reduce power or RMA the card.
(err.. should say "not needing to provide that POWER" not card)
looks like you actually got a secret Christmas version of the card! never saw these artifacts before, pretty cool!

Then I noticed the second issue. 2) When playing my game, each time I would take a screenshot the AMD Adrenlin software would shut down and would be lucky if 1 photo could be taken. Then less then 4 days after getting the card. 3) Atefacting occurs and the game starts crashing, now and couple of day later and a couple of unistalls and reinstalls later the Artefacting continues and the game will not crash as soon as getting into it. Currently working at getting a RA.
