The problem is the game strategically gives you a baseline potion as a reward for beating the previous fight before this one. And no way to discard or sell it. So you always only get an auto potion for 30 on the first shot.
I did it as a Squire. Equip for speed and high Move. Go first and run and start to use Yell for +1 speed until you start trading turns 2 to 1. Then 3 to 1. Then you can burst him down and the speed carries over when he transforms.
I tried 3 times not work. Someone in team dead. Cant accept that. So when find the way use Knight skill to rend speed. Wiegrat he slow down his cheat magic. It 's work.
My first playthrough back when the game came out I did this as well. After dying a few times I went dragoon and was able to predict where he would move to and beat him. Still was a tough battle till I went with this strat lol.
I remember back in the day my friend was telling me how hard this castle was but Ramza was always my thief because hes in every battle and i always want those early upgrades. When i got to Weigraf 1v1 i just took his shield than sword and was like bro this is it lol😅
Obviously dual fist monk and math skill are the most OP, but I would think samurai with item, dragonheart, using kiyomori and x potion should be pretty OP as well.
Remember that fanfic where Ramza and Wiegraf start making out and ultima demons teleport into the room and they all start making out and then Ramza's party entered and they started making out?
Wiegraf: How.... How.... HOW DID YOU GET THIS STRONG? Ramza: I trained all day yesterday. Belias: Oh. You think you're being CUTE??? Ramza: Bitch, i'm adorable.
You have Squire mastered, just yell while running away then after you're getting 3-4 turns in a row just accumulate. Then win both the battles without anyone getting a turn
Do you know the infinite jp glitch? It works with any class that has a main skill list that scrolls down. Hover over a skill you can afford, hold square and push down at the same time. Itll move your cursor down and if you cant afford that new skill it glitches and gives you 9999 or 0 jp, but 0 jp is the same as infinite and you can master that job.
I remember dying alot to this fight as a kid and finally beating it. Just did a playthrough and didnt use auto potion, makes the game alot more enjoyable without auto potion, The fight near the end of game with the dragons and the gun guy is challenging as hell without it.
Go ninja for speed and double hit on Ramza, take brawler, crit hp restore and the rubber shoes to protect from lightning dps on his hallowed blade. Or you can do mana shield with martial arts Chakra to restore mp and hp to absorb his hits to mp rather then your hp. Should be easy to kill him with double hit from ninja class if he doesn't block or dodge.
I know this video is old, but im just now seeing it. The entire video im just thinking "unarmed ninja with concentrate, twist headband, judo outfit or power sleeve, power wrist, and accumulate." That's literally all it takes. Ninjas do more damage unarmed until you get end game weapons and around 14 speed. Wont miss an attack with concentration, and if you first turn accumulate you should have enough damage to one shot him, even at lvl 30. If not you still get a second turn and automatically make it to the second phase. Its just a matter of killing him before you take damage or not. You will kill him with this setup though. Ive done it at lvl 29 so i know its possible and this combo makes almost the entire early and mid game easy peasy, but thats no fun so just use it here if you can't beat Weigraf and abandon it after.
@bronysaiyan5236 nah, martial arts isn't necessary for unarmed ninja, they hit plenty hard enough without it, especially one you focus a time or two. And concentrate guarantees the hits land especially against a shield user.
@bronysaiyan5236 It is worth it without martial arts. I've played this game for probably 1k hours, and unarmed ninja concentrate is a beast until you start getting better weapons for them. I promise it works. If you don't believe me, boot up an old save right now and make a guy as ninja with no weapons, and no attack boost or martial arts support skill. You'll still melt enemies. It's not hard to test. Go ahead, try it out.
Guess he doesn't know the Tailwind/Accumulate technic! If you have move 6-7 and a reaction that regain you some health (regeneration, autopotion), this battle is super easy!
I use HP Restore/Recover and trailor my HP so that it's triggered when hit. If I manage to survive the first turns, it's done. Tailwind/Yell will have done its job. Accumulate is just overkill.
@@elr492 Exactly! If your reaction ability is regaining HP, the Tailwind/Accumulate is like farming at this point! You'll win for sure, even Velius is beaten easily since your stats remain!
I alwasy either Used jump so I wasn't around when he went, or auto potion to survive making sure I only had X potions, or you can try and steal his weapon.
There was one time I was soft locked on this part of the game because I didn’t know to save on different slots. I tried and tried over and over again to best Wiegraf so that I could escape that place and continue playing the story. But nothing worked. And there was nothing much that I could do because my Ramza only had so many jobs unlocked. But there was one thing I did that worked for me despite my low level and lack of job options. (Long paragraph incoming) I job changed my Ramza to a Lancer/Dragoon and equipped Martial arts as a secondary skill. I would use Jump on Wiegraf while pretty close, about 1 or 2 tiles away from him, since jump attacks can’t be evaded. If Wiegraf managed to get a hit on me, which was usually with Hollow Bolt/Lightning Stab, I would hang back and use Chakra to sustain my Ramza. Especially because My Ramza was a Leo, which Wiegraf does more damage to. If I saw that my Jump wouldn’t go off before Wiegraf took his turn, or if I was too far away to use Jump reliably, Since jump takes longer to execute the farther your target is, I would instead use Shockwave/Earth Slash if the height difference between Ramza and Wiegraf wasn’t too big. Which was useful as shockwave can’t be evaded either. With enough patience and careful judgement to determine my next move, I was able to successfully beat Wiegraf and move on to Chapter 4. Despite being under leveled and not having good jobs or gear to fight Wiegraf So Ramza as Dragoon/Lancer with the martial arts skill having at least chakra and Shockwave/EarthSlash helped a lot with beating Wiegraf. Hope this is useful if anyone else is stuck on this fight with no alternate save to fall back on.
Yea the first time i played i had to quit the game at this fight because i was 25, at 29 baiting first strike by facing away from him and two handing was a walk in the park
Beat him in the 20s here on my first playthrough by switching to blm. It's possible to exploit his pathing and stay just out or range enough to beat him before he kills you, with just thunder 2.
I think ramza can win at 28 level if u have float boots and the robe where he absorbs lighting. or rubber suit works too. monk class with ninja double attack or spam yell and focus with auto potion or critical hp recover if u got like 100 brave which u can easily get by spam steel
I remember when I played it I was 12 or 14 years old hahaha and the most effective way was to go MONK with Restorative HP and enough life points for the passive to be activated, since I got 260 each turn. It was very stressful for my age, but it was a good idea to have mastered some classes, since the game did not give you any guidance at all and everything depended on the experience of each player.
Knight Battle Skill Item Auto Potion Two Swords Move +3 Move away from him first and use item hi-potion that it gives you after winning the previous battle. Then your auto potion will be set to x-potion. Then attack and mess dude up.

Change ramza to squire with auto-potion and punch arts with chakra, move +2. Yell until you are getting 2-3 turns in a row, then accumulate. Use chakra as needed. Easy kill, stats carry over to battle two. Rinse and repeat.
1- you're over leveled, not under. You just one shot him 2- the way to do it under leveled is go with mettle/item. +1 speed a few times, then +1 power a few times. Auto potion with x potion keeps you up. If it doesn't activate your reaction then that turn use x potion
First, level 34 is NOT underleveled. My last time beating him my Ramza was 26. Second, obviously this is NOT the only way to beat Wiegraf, why don't you try white mage and use HOLY!! Note that Ramza is the second most powerful mage in the whole game. PS, using maces indicates that you were so noob in FFT, no offense.
while watching this, i was thinking can ninja do battle skill of a knight with equipped sword skills and do 2x hit or chance to break enemies equipment? so even if u miss one u had another strike. just a thought
Auto potion is incredibly strong here. As well as Concentration. Basically a Lancer with both is really strong, since he cant counter a 2 block attack, and when he does attack, you have a high chance to heal yourself. Or you could go with a Ninja equipped with two ninja blades, twisted headband, power sleeve, power glove, concentrate, auto potion and one-shot him. really high brave helps with the chance of the reaction ability. The big downside to the build i listed is really low health, which may come into play in the second part of the match. Best thing is go all glass-cannon on your party and kill him as fast as possible.
The ninja would actually do more damage unarmed with that setup. The ninja blades only partly take into account your power, they rely more heavily on speed. Whereas unarmed is modified solely on power. Not until end game does armed ninja become better than unarmed ninja, due to higher damage values on the weapons and higher speed on characters. Speed builds are better for armed ninja, power builds are better for unarmed ninja. And unarmed has the benefit or also being buffed by brawler, which can turn a ninja into an amazing short and long range attacker, plus a very capable support with the variety of monk abilities available. It breaks the early to mid game as badly as TG Cid does at end game. Nothing like one shotting 2 of the 5 enemies first turn from 6 panels away with earth slash 😂

i spam yell til i can go many MANY times in a row, then spam Guts so I can be super strong, then kill him from behind for 999 then do the same to him when he transforms, going against a holy knight that can inflict stop 1V1 was a terrible idea but maybe they wanted to test our willingness to put time in, i mean i also grinded to due to Elmdor, and the stupid Raffa charging him 99% of the time giving instant game overs, rabtoons did it perfectly lol
Easy way , be a wizard use flare and he will death one turn 💀 if you use sword make sure you have concentre . For me I think Elmdor lil bit more challenging
yeah this was hard part. I replayed FFT after so many years. I barely killed him using Ninja level 30 with auto potion X(eliminating basic potion). I tried dragon knight but it was so funny that you never catch him. I am still trying to kill 2nd part of his form... because all of my teammates are level 6 to level 20 LOL!!!! oh man..
Break or steal his sword and shield…. Ninja with move +2/3, auto potion and battle skill…. Run behind him round one and break the sword…. That stops that offense, next break the shield as that destroys his defense, lol. I’d rather knight as base class for defense and HP, but the ninja has more speed and range making positioning easier…. Breaking from behind is much more effective since it IS hard to hit him, lol
Underleveled???? Wtf man when i beat it i was 29, wiegraf is 31 if i recall correctly so you outlevel him. Of course i didnt beat him on the first, second or third try, but less than 10. I had first strike instead of autopot so ramza started the second phase near death, but then when you have a dual wielding monk as a companion all bosses are as good as dead xd.

Not really. King died, 2 Dukes are fighting for control over the kingdom (Larg/Goltana). Delita is setting up Goltana and his crew to die to their own greed. Ramza’s brother Dycedarg is setting up Larg and his crew to die so he can take over. Delita also manipulates Ramza against his brothers, but Ramza learning that Dycedarg killed their dad causes Ramza to kill Dycedarg. No one is left to take the throne except for the Church and Delita. Delita betrays the Church and takes the throne. Ramza discovers that the zodiac demons are the ones causing all of the war on earth by manipulating humans. Ramza and his sister Alma defeat the entire church, the Crusaders knights, who are guarding the Church’s secret source of power (the germonique scriptures) and also the entrance to the underworld where the Ultima demon is. Ramza, Alma, and Orlandu kill Ultima (which is the leader of the zodiac demons), and thereby bring peace to Ivalice, since the demons were the ones driving the war between humans. On the surface, Delita becomes king and presides over an extended era of peace in Ivalice, but Olan Durai (Ramzas friend) knows that it was actually Ramza that brought peace to the realm. Olan writes the Durai Papers about Ramza’s journey. Olan is captured and killed by the church (maybe Delita) to prevent the story about Ramza and the Lucavi demons from being released. Olan’s grand-nephew Alazlam Durai is the one telling the story to the player, the Narrator of the story.

this is where i stopped playing this game - also because the politics of the story are incomprehensible
@@beanlegume9965See. It only took a few paragraphs to explain. Not incomprehensible.
Tldr: the church wants two factions to fight to exhaustion and then move into power themselves. It's not that hard to understand. @@dittm3r
