The petrify thing is actually universal across all the Pixel Remasters. It's particularly useful in Final Fantasy I, since in that game the 1st slot gets targeted 50% of the time, and the 2nd slot gets targeted 25% of the time, with the last 2 getting 12.5% each, so if someone gets petrified in the speedrun they'll sometimes switch that party member to the 1st slot to make battles safer, rather than healing it right away. And since petrified party members still get experience, it's a pretty convenient bug/exploit overall.
This is an excellent video. The effort you put into completing the attempt is clearly evident. Getting the onion equipment towards the end does allow you to cheese some of the later encounters, but getting to the point of being able to obtain that equipment in the first place is challenging enough. I would love to see more challenges like this one. Great job.
Thank you for the comment! Getting the onion equipment was the hardest part of the challenge. Took me +50 dragon encounters to get a few of the onion gear and each dragon encounter lasted about 40+ minutes to defeat. My other plan involved to get to 99 before collecting the onion gear but I'm glad i didn't need to do that. I'm currently running through another challenge right now that involves Monk only.
In the DS Version of FF3, CoD has more attacks than just Particle Beam. Two of her Tentacles could be attacked. One only could be hurt by physical attacks. The other could only be hurt by Magic. Destroying those also took down how many actions she took in one turn from four to two. This version seems to be reminiscint of the Famicom version. She only had Flarewave in that one.
I'm fully convinced challenges like this are why Onion Knights are the way they are. Only a complete masochist would take Onion Knights through the entire game where they have zero power to the max level where those chosen few would realize that is the most brutal Gyarados Power moment in gaming history.
Yep, you are right. I'm that complete masochist who decided to take 4 Onion Knights through the entire game and see them grow into the biggest menace the game has seen.
@@solitaryscargaming It's kind of beautiful when devs make stuff like this they know only like three people are gonna find but when they do they make sure to make them feel like geniuses.
I love Onion Knights, and I love seeing them at beast mode at level 99. I'm impressed you beat the whole thing without hitting 99 though! That was impressive. Good work on this challenge, it was interesting to see you problem solve (although the solution is usually grinding). My favorite FFs are VI, IV, IX, VII, and XIV. But III is a pretty good one too.
Thank you for your comment! Going into this I believed I needed to be lv 90+ to beat the game but beating below that was pretty great. Had to make the grind to lv 99 to humiliate Cloud of Darkness at the end.
@@solitaryscargaming I was convinced you'd have to grind really high level early on and reach 99 before you hit the Crystal Tower, especially hearing your struggle against Garuda.
Gurada is literally one of the hardest bosses in the game for me. The amount of times I died was infuriating. I'm glad they made the onion knight job a little better in the remake for the DS as the ultimate job. Sadly Onion still had low stats at low levels. It does get better at the higher levels. Glad they replaced it with Freelancer and let Freelancer at least use some magic.
This guy is amazing! He actually used Elixers and defied all expectations! o-o But seriously, yes, it is all too easy to write off items as 'will be useful later' and accidentally forget them. So seriously, well done, and nice work on the video. And I respect your patience in grinding out all that time, it takes a lot of patience to do that. Edit-I give extra props for beating this challenge before the growth spurt at 89+
Thank you for your comment! The elixirs came in clutch. The final boss would not have been possible unless I grinded to 99 if it wasn't for those elixirs.
Honestly, you did a good job for one of your first challenge videos. Lingering on areas that you had a hard time on will press upon anyone who wants to do a similar challenge what sort of trouble they might expect as well.
Hi, I liked the video, good challenge run, quite the dedication. Imo, all the fights could have been shortened for the sake of rythm, but keeping the first yellow dragon fight and the first cloud of darkness fight in their entirety is a good thing. It shows these two were a real long struggle. Another thing that could be nice is showing the whole game process, like "I went there, saw this guy, got the ship". Even if it's just for a bit, it helps us follow the progression, keep us engaged and could also double as "This is now the fourth town and I STILL CAN'T use their armor", to put more emphasis on the stuff on other restrictions of the challenge. Keep it up, you're doing great !
I'm usually pretty picky on who I sub to on YT. I like to keep my homepage relevant to my interests. And while I love anything FF related, it takes special videos like this to really catch my attention. Your subject is very interesting, as I thought of doing this once. Your delivery was very well presented, so well done on your editing. Lastly, and most importantly, your patience and commitment to seeing this god awful challenge through to the end has gained not only my respect, but a subscriber, a video like and a share to a few of my buddies. Extremely well done on such a great game. The cherry on top was you grinding to 99 and spanking CoD real good. Kudos man. Keep up the great work.
I'm honored that you put your trust on me to sub to my channel. This was a challenge idea that I had in the back of my head with the release of FFIII PR and making it happen feels so good. I took inspirations from other creators who do similar challenges like this and made this video possible. The grind to 99 just to slap CoD was done to send a message to the game. Thank you for your comment and support.
So far, this is the only only 8 bit remaster I'm interested in. Well done, the grinding was maddening I would imagine especially at the crystal tower, I'm currently grinding for max HP on the PSP version.
These videos no matter the length are super cool. It really makes you think did the developers plan for an all onion party or did they just luck out on it.this isn't the first game I have seen where items were better than level ups/gears. Great job and happy masochist farming wherever you go.
FF3 has always been my favorite of the main series. When FFXIV relaunched in 2013, I was thrilled when LOTA, Syrcus Tower, and World of Darkness were added as the alliance raid. Many years later, and we have Eureka Orthos under Syrcus Tower now too! :D
I got your video recommended by the almighty algorithm. I'm currently at the Yellow Dragon part. I can't believe you have only 53 subs. 54 in a second. The video is so good! Although I think it is this good because it's edited. Editing videos like this is the standard. That's just the way it is. I 1000% agree with the feedback you got from the other guy: Edit your videos and edit the unnecessarily long parts more. In this case Yellow Dragon. As the guy said, you can't change jobs mid-fight. It's fine. Even if you could, honestly, no one cares. This isn't a speedrun you try to prove is legit. I mean, you even honestly show us when you needed to change to White Mage for Mini. It's fine, dude. Also, maybe talk a tiny bit faster. Also also, my favourite Final Fantasy is 9.
The algorithm gods have blessed me. I truly appreciate your feedback and support. I hope to do more videos and I will utilize the feedback I get to improve. Final Fantasy 9 is such a GOAT. 10/10
You really do have immense patience. That trick with petrified party members was great. Not knowing that, I probably would have killed a couple of the Onion Knights to concentrate the Experience Points onto the two remaining ones. AoEs would have been less of a problem with two strong characters than four weak ones. Would have made most fights harder, but the AoE fights easier. I might have never found out about that petrification trick.
Good job on the run: I can only imagine how long this actually took. I honestly thought you'd end up needing to grind up to the point where Onion Knight stat gains start to skyrocket to progress, but I guess I underestimated the power of attack items and Onion Knights in general. As for general advice, I feel like this could have been shortened. If you're worried about legitimacy, I wouldn't be too worried about it - viewers will generally assume it wasn't a problem or that it was more of the same if you cut it. It's not like you can easily cheat in a run like this anyway, seeing as how you can't swap jobs during fights. Speaking faster is a good idea as well, as long as you don't lose too much clarity. Also, if you're going to promote things, it's best to put them in both the description of your video and somewhere in your channel description for ease of access. Audio quality was pretty good for a 3-subscriber channel, just seems like it could use a little extra editing to cut out the inhales and pauses. Anyway, with that out of the way, Red carried the run, especially for the Titan fight. ...seriously, he probably injured his back carrying the rest of the party into that fight!
Thank you for your input and feedback! I truly appreciate it. I honestly believed that I was going to need to grind to 99 before Doga and Unei on order to win. Red put in a lot of work for Titan and Farming for Onion set against Yellow Dragon.
Those tedious battle reminds me to Final Fantasy V Void Divergence. At the end of the game every combat has 20min lenght if you don't want to use Blue Magic. Great video!
Man, this is a good video, I became very fond of FFIII after beating the NES version, nice to see you tackle this challenge and I hope you make more videos in the future.
I love final fantasy V so much I stand by my opinion of loving it I absolutely love the story, characters and it’s just an all around an amazing final fantasy
I never played Final Fantasy V but I have heard good things about the class system. It is a game I would love to play and maybe even do a challenge run.
@@solitaryscargaming I’d highly recommend it if you’d like to talk about the final fantasy franchise period I love it 3 I actually have mixed feelings about but that’s actually the 3D version I’ve basically played every version of V I ordered an super famicom off eBay to play a Japanese copy I got at an a convention
Man hearing the final boss theme got me in the mood to play Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call again after having not played it for years and I did really well for my first go at the Ultimate/hard version of the song while being so rusty Either way, my favorite FF games would have to be the Dawn of Souls remakes of 1 and 2, alongside 5, Mystic Quest and Revenant Wings a bit too - I've only ever finished 1 and 2 sadly but I still have nostalgia for 5 as the one I grew up with the longest Also seeing the petrification just completely negate all incoming damage intrigues me as I'm used to how the Etrian Odyssey series does it - It still stops the afflicted from doing anything and counts as being dead for the purposes of counting a loss, but they still take damage, just with substantially increased defense and resistances, so they _can_ die
A few people have done min/max runs where they try to get 9999hp by keeping the monk job for much of the game, and they noticed you have to really plan carefully because of stats are gained at level up. So they maximize the job level first by defending and running a lot. When they hit Monk 99 they start leveling their characters. And yes all those people noticed the onion knight has garbage stats the whole game.
Just found this video and it's made me start my own run of this. Just beat Hein, which was painful because i didn't have any damaging items to use. Now I'm trying to farm up some before the next boss.
@@solitaryscargaming I chipped him basic attacks down with one spamming high potions. That worked for Kraken and Goldor too. Random battles are getting to be harder than the bosses though.
The UA-cam algorithm blessed me with your Video today and I am really glad about it! I think Final Fantasy 3 is one of the more underrated entries in the series so it was nice seeing a challenge run done for it. As for your concern that people don't believe that your run is legit, I think that these challenge run always work on a 'trust basis'. My opinion is that you wouldn't get anything from lying to us so cutting out more mundane parts of the video would definitely help with the flow since it keeps the videos shorter and evens out the commentary since you don't have to voice over boring parts. I saw that this video is already four months old but I would love to see similar runs in other games. I hope I am not the only one who found this video in their recommendations and that your channel gets a chance to grow and for you to further get a chance to get comfortable with editing and trying out new things. Anyway you got a sub from me and I hope to see more from you in the future! :)
Dear readers and SolitaryScar! I am since 30 hours ingame following this guide to play 4 x Onion Knight till the End - here are my 50cents i also learned so far: try to get the 2 Protection Rings from the Underwater Tempel as soon as you can - make sure to have grinded till Level 40 for all your Onion Knights (i recommend you to try to level their Jobs as fast as possible because it may help - other jobs get bonus dps, more effecient skills and so on, don't know if it works for OKs too but why not) and very very important get those EXIT items ?beavershroom? idk at least 10 and of course 99 potions and 99 hi-potions and get at least 40 phoenix revive items just in case before entering any dungeon... get all items from chests and flee if you need ... i lootet with that submarine the triangle submarine dungeon almost empty running away all encounts with level 40 - you can sell of course ALL ITEMS you can't wear for sweet money you will need for potions, phoenix etc. plus i have till i have crystal armor from that MAZE 99 antidots, 99 mallets, 99 maidens kiss and most important golden needles ... for farming: you can farm that underwater cave at Level 51 and avoid that trapped chests you don't want to fight (that splitting monsters, the others you can fight at Level 51 with 1 OK in full crystal armor - he takes 99% of all hits only 1 !!! Damage 🙂 with crystal shield a fortress unpenetratable! the other 3 OKs i gave the Bows and Iron Arrows - for undead dragons and like switch to holy arrows and keep them in the back row - give them the protection rings to help them defend fire/lightning/ice attacks... so you can auto-battle this area at 51 till 60 it's a breeze! To get to 50 use the catacombs our @SolitaryScar showed you - i started there at Level 40 and tried to kill Kyklops and that Kraken Monster primarily ... i got to Level 40 at a higher risk place: that very North Village REPLITO there you can hunt Needle Monkey, Sorcerers, and that flying Bull Monsters - they are very hard to kill especially that Needle Monkey i advice the 3er packs only they can poison you that flying bulls my petrify on hit but that can be a savior as you already know from that video 😉 i tried to keep all 4 heroes at same XP level as much as i can but thats only my playstyle so they level up all at once but its optional. If you are not afraid of grinding leveling up to 77 the break-even-point from then on the OKs get very strong but thats optional too... but any HP-Point helps the improving the "tankiness" to spam that damage inducing items... look for the fira, icera, etc items and save them for bosses like Doga and Una etc. check out the weaknesses of your enemys and exploit them to get the maximum chance of Damage in your turns thus keeping everyone alive... it's propably the most annoying and frustrating playstyle but remember: in the END your OKs are the most overpowered job class with that OK equipment! Especially them OK blades 😋
I had the pleasure of going through this very game with only white mages... went way better than i ever imagined So i thought to myself, surely if i can do so well with white mages then this should be a walk in the park
I haven't played this game in a long time and thought there was something about the onion knight. Came across this video in a search and now I'm reminded. There was a small miss on the opening statements. The first final fantasy had a job system. You chose your jobs and you were locked into those jobs the whole game. This was the first to allow you to change jobs during the game since ff2 didn't have a job system.
You know what when i played this one I did bring one onion knight through the whole game and went for the gear. She ended up being on par with my ninja but it was a fun experience and made the playthrough more endearing
Man, it took so long for me to just spawn the three dragons for the bestiary I nearly stopped. I can't imagine trying to grind for four full onion sets.
My number 1 favorite is Final Fantasy 12. The story, characters, music, battles, and the jobs and how each weapon is used and powered up through your stats is great and makes you think if you don't know what you're doing. 10 is next followed by 13 (I don't know why people dislike it so much), and 3. I like 7, but I don't get the hype because its not any different than any other Final Fantasy. It's still amazing, but it is not in my top 5. 1. FF12 2. FF10 3: FF13 4. FF3 5. FF14
I'm actually in the midst of playing through the 3D version of this on my phone right now. The Onion Knight is different from the starting Freelancer job on that one and this would be way easier on that one. I think you can use magics and a bunch of differnt equipment with the onion knight on the 3d version. I haven't messed around with them too much yet. I'm still only about half way through the game right now. But damn, that looks like one hell of a challenge!
So upon completion of the video it's a good challenge till you get the onion equipment then it get's pretty easy, eh? And holy crap! Maxed out onion knights are amazing! The onion knights are both the worst and the best class in the game i guess! Good video. Thanks!
Thank you for watching the video. My introduction to FF3 was through the 3D version so going into this challenge with little research I thought that Onion Knight could use some basic magic but NOPE. I learned that the hard way.
If you try to win any final fantasy but you can only attack with only one character, that means that only he can use black magic, the rest can only use white magic to help the only one who can attack, to make it more interesting you can only heal during a combat only the character who can attack, and apply beneficial effects only to him, They will be able to apply negative effects to enemies
my favs are original FF1, FF4, FF5, FF6, FF7, and FF10. Bless you for your patience to challenge FF3 because i've made a few attempts playing it normal have never made it very far past going to the lower world in any try. it's the one FF game for console up through 12 that i just never beat once. in playing most of the series, i thing the ultimate grind would be getting Rydia to level 60 to learn Meteor against....the octopus in the waterway to Damascus. Goodbye octopus. Goodbye Antlion. Goodbye Mombomb. Goodbye Golbez. been wanting to figure the lowest levels to beat FF1 with 4 of the same class (w & w/o class change) and how far any can get with solo challenges. wondering if there are some dead ends because of armor/magic limitations.
I loove final fantasy with favs being namely :FF4 , FFX,X-2, FF8, FF7, FFDoS , FFWoL, Bravely series. Would you ever do Dark Souls or something similar? So many possible challenges! Could be fun! I think this came out quite well especially for a first outing! I think only most notable editing complaint was some slightly too long hanging silence and occasionally mouse clicking in the background. Mostly towards the beginning but very few issues! Especially nice niece topic too comparatively speaking! Good stuff all around! Good job!
You have a great taste in games. I have never played Dark souls before but I'm always open in trying challenges outside the final Fantasy franchise. I highly appreciate the feedback! As time goes along I'll improve on the quality for sure. Defeating Cloud of Darkness at the end was a feel good moment.
I recently went though and beat FFIII with the Pixel Remaster for the first time. I had more trouble with the Enchidna and Double-Headed Dragon bosses than I did the Tlts of Darkness. She'd be a pushover if she already wasn't.
Those 4 bosses before Cloud of Darkness can be more threatening for some reason. I struggled with Ahriman the most and after that Cloud of Darkness was a joke.
@@solitaryscargaming so you play other ff games? im going through all of them in a project, going to beat all of them for the first time, starting with FFI. like i said, i just recently beat FFIII. gonna wait a bit before attempting IV but i think i decided to play it on the pixel remaster. i love those remasters. played I & II on the PSP tho.
@@isturbo1984 Good question! I would say the thing stopping from playing FFVI is time. I'm trying to do better with my backlog of games so I don't want to buy FFVI and not get around it. I should get it and dedicate time to it since I know it is a masterpiece and I won't regret it. Maybe come up with a challenge as I play through it.
I wonder if this is a big that was fixed as when I tried using Shining Curtains in the second Bahamut("Bahamur") battle, it didn't reflect its Mega Flare like it was supposed to.
Wow, that was a pretty insane challenge. Good job 👍 Btw, If you like FF3 you’re gonna love FF5. It’s the same game but on steroids. There’s a cool challenge called “four job fiesta” that people like to do with that game. Check it out, it actually is pretty fun.
I feel like your voice kind of rambled/trailed off at times, so using a script (or sticking closer to one, if you were already using one) would probably help, since it just sounded like you were bored for most of the video. I do appreciate the spirit of the run, though. I've always had a soft spot for FF3, despite how janky it is.
I actually appreciate that he's not using some transparently fake high energy vibe that other youtubers would. It feels like an old internet style video and I identify with the realness of that. Anyways, I'm sure if he keeps making stuff that he'll find his own voice, and this is pretty good for a first video.
Favorite is FF1, but mainly because it is the only one I've played. I didn't finish though. Got stuck at some graveyard where the ghosts kept paralyzing me and it was the version where you have to go back to town to replenish mp iirc.
Thank you 🙏 im currently playing ff3 and named a character after my bf and he got to choose the job for his character He chose onion knight He looked so sad when i said i switched him to dragoon then dark knight 😢 Im in the crystal caves now and will take time to grind yellow dragon for the onion gear Cant wait to show him 🥺
at start: I've done it on PR, so I know it's possible, I will say though, going into the video that I expect MASSIVE pain between Water crystal and onion equipment (I got through by farming magic casting items starting just after Kracken then REALLY needed them to get through Doga, Uni, and Eureka). But once you get Onion equipment you can pretty easily destroy the game. Let's see if you end up in your high 70s at the end, like I was, or if you come up with some novel ways to solve this problem.
And, yeah, you might need to change items at the Gnome cave if you don't get mallots before Anchient's villiage in PR (I don't recall if I had to or not, but once you have them Mallots can transform you small as well as make you big), as well as to get into underwater cave in Fire Cave section and the Tower of Owens (technically one of the monsters in tower of Owens is supposed to cast Toad sometimes, but I had NO luck getting him to do so, so I eventually bit the bullet and just changed jobs to cast Toad)
Actually your job stats do go up, one point every 10 levels -- but yeah, effectively they don't go up ☹ (until level 90, then your stats go crazy and you have the best stats of anyone -- though if you are playing right you should have onion equipment before then so it will be a mute point) EDIT: ok you mentioned it, I was just a little fast 🥶
at rat: yeah, I luckily avoided that issue (using my sell items too early) in my PR run because I'd ALREADY made that mistake on earlier attempts in 3DS version and when using an translated rom dump. I found you have to keep all your spell items as well as get at least one as a drop from either Djinn or the Griffon (I beleive the turtle also drops, but I've never tried)
just before attempt two against the rat: WELL PLAYED! I didn't think to farm from the sea monsters, so very well played. That means in exchange for some over grinding you could potentially stock pile a few for the Rat as well as other dungeons (I farmed spell items from the Griffon's outside Anchient's villiage since they seem to drop all the good ones at the highest rate I could find.)
at Dwarf villiage (I'll try to slow down on the comments, but it's hard since this was a very interesting run for me, and you've done a good job of boiling down the hours of pain in this run to a pretty good condenced form). Yeah, last weapon's the Onion Knights can equip (other then the King's sword and one of the knives in the same dungeon) is the Mithril swords until the onion Sword. For sheilds, the Ice Shields are their final ones until the Crystal Shields (which they CAN equip, luckily), greaves, helmets and armor are capped at Mithril until Crystal (luckily) and eventually Onion. So yeah, their equipment choices are pretty bad...
1:02 what is the Shadowbringers theme remix titled? It's so pretty! Also which console releases are there for 3? I've never played FF 2, 3, 5 , 9 so they've always interested me especially because dragoon introduced in 3 Sexy job lol
it's called Eternal wind and it's one of my favorite songs. 3 was released on the NES. If you want to play, you can buy the Pixel Remaster version or the 3D version on Steam.
What do you think it’s the best way to grind the onion knights up to level 92? Crystal Tower with the Dragons? Also, really a nice work with the run. I started today and I can’t imagine the pain to get all the onion equipment yet!
I can only speak for the DS version but I think the highest exp mobs are in bahamut's cave? Not too hard to beat thankfully once you're high level enough.
I went with dragons and anything else that I encounter in the Crystal Tower since I was looking for Onion gears/Elixir. Labyrinth of the Ancient was my go-to when I wanted to have an easier time grinding since I can interact with the crystal to heal.
So basically it is all pain and struggle until you get onion gear (which is more pain and struggle!) and then it's easy street because the game is self coded that anyone that chooses pain and struggle receives eventual reward. Good to know!
A bit of trivia:
FF 1 through 3 don't have an actual damage cap
There's a display cap, they can't show more than 9999 on the damage display, but you can do much more than that
It's why fully powered Onion Knights killed Cloud of Darkness so quickly at the end of this video
They were doing far more than 9999 damage
there's not a display cap in ff1 or ff2
also in PR... there is a damage cap for 3
@@trifortay My years of playing the console version of FF1 taught me that there is a cap of 999.

I appreciate your comment a lot! I will take notes and apply them for the future.
This is a pretty solid video, especially for the first one you're editing. You deserve to be proud of it.
The grinding at the Crystal Tower with only Onion knight was one of the worst and long grind I have ever done.
I hope your grind goes well 💪🏼
Onion Knights went from small Hits to massive Powerhouses, Final Fantasy games are notorious for keeping the best Weapons near the end
Nice! I heard the Onion Knight gets powerful in later levels but I had no idea they got that strong.
These videos no matter the length are super cool. It really makes you think did the developers plan for an all onion party or did they just luck out on it.this isn't the first game I have seen where items were better than level ups/gears. Great job and happy masochist farming wherever you go.
Thank you! I shall continue with such farming where I go.
This is a great video, I respect the dedication you put into this run!
Thank you for your words. This was something I randomly thought about doing and made it happen.
Awesome video, subbed! Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!
Loved this video, and would love more Final Fantasy challenge videos!
Red put in a lot of work for Titan and Farming for Onion set against Yellow Dragon.
that was a fun watch! thanks for making this video -- it's a ton of work to put a good production together.
Nice run man i really enjoy it!
Those tedious battle reminds me to Final Fantasy V Void Divergence. At the end of the game every combat has 20min lenght if you don't want to use Blue Magic.
Great video!
I hear that Final Fantasy V is great game to do challenge runs. I never played FFV but I would love to in the future.
my fave final fantasy is 5 its just very replayable and deep in its mechanics n shit. final fantasy 4 is a close second that game is so cozy for me
Wow, the tolerance for pain needed for a run like this.
I salute your perseverence.
My favorite FF is FF6.
Awesome video dude!!
Thank you!
hey you did a really good job on this and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Great vid ace.
And I'm far from an expert but the editing seemed fine to me.
Very well done.
This was so hard to watch you suffer through, internet stranger. I'm glad it paid off in the end, though! Great video.
Man, this is a good video, I became very fond of FFIII after beating the NES version, nice to see you tackle this challenge and I hope you make more videos in the future.
Congratulations on such a difficult challenge, my hats off too you sir
Thank you for the video, this was neat :)
Favorite FF is a mix of 5, 6, 9, and X for me. I favour different aspects of different FFs
Thank you for watching this video, means a lot to me.
I love your choices of favorite FF games.
I love final fantasy V so much I stand by my opinion of loving it I absolutely love the story, characters and it’s just an all around an amazing final fantasy
I never played Final Fantasy V but I have heard good things about the class system. It is a game I would love to play and maybe even do a challenge run.
@@solitaryscargaming I’d highly recommend it if you’d like to talk about the final fantasy franchise period I love it 3 I actually have mixed feelings about but that’s actually the 3D version
I’ve basically played every version of V
I ordered an super famicom off eBay to play a Japanese copy I got at an a convention
Man hearing the final boss theme got me in the mood to play Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call again after having not played it for years and I did really well for my first go at the Ultimate/hard version of the song while being so rusty
Either way, my favorite FF games would have to be the Dawn of Souls remakes of 1 and 2, alongside 5, Mystic Quest and Revenant Wings a bit too - I've only ever finished 1 and 2 sadly but I still have nostalgia for 5 as the one I grew up with the longest
Also seeing the petrification just completely negate all incoming damage intrigues me as I'm used to how the Etrian Odyssey series does it - It still stops the afflicted from doing anything and counts as being dead for the purposes of counting a loss, but they still take damage, just with substantially increased defense and resistances, so they _can_ die
You definitely deserve a sub, I can’t wait for more content.
Thank you for the sub. I'm excited and motivated do more.
Love the grinded curbstomp at the end. No elixers needed at max level onion.
I am enjoying this. Thank you
Looks like you've been blessed by the algorithm these last few days
So that means Dissidia's Onion Knight is actually a beast?! That's crazy lmao
Congratz, man, great video
Make more videos! I love the mono job runs or any other kinda challenge runs you would feel like doing.
Just found this video and it's made me start my own run of this. Just beat Hein, which was painful because i didn't have any damaging items to use. Now I'm trying to farm up some before the next boss.
@@paulhiggins6433 hein without damaging items is insane. Good to hear you came out victorious!
@@solitaryscargaming I chipped him basic attacks down with one spamming high potions. That worked for Kraken and Goldor too. Random battles are getting to be harder than the bosses though.
Now I'm stuck on Garuda. Having the same problem as you. Haven't found those Raven's Yawn yet though.
@@paulhiggins6433 Garuda is going to be wall. I wish you the best of luck on Raven Yawn drops and on Garuda not spamming lightning.
Love these type of play throughs.
I must thank the UA-cam algorithm for showing you this video and thank you for taking time to watch this video, subbing and leaving a nice comment.
Same 😀
Dear readers and SolitaryScar!
I like how your input is very detailed and on point!
Your guide is what I would follow if I would do this again.
I had the pleasure of going through this very game with only white mages... went way better than i ever imagined
So i thought to myself, surely if i can do so well with white mages then this should be a walk in the park
One day I'll play through the game with only 4 white mages and I'll be looking forward to it.
Nice editting!
In regards of your question which games you should do runs with. I think it is best to play games you like a lot and know a lot about.
Raven's yawn deals a lot of damage to garuda because it's wind-elemental - the same as a spear - and (most) flying monsters are weak against wind
I'll remember that when I'll have to deal with Garuda again. Thank you for the info.
You know what when i played this one I did bring one onion knight through the whole game and went for the gear. She ended up being on par with my ninja but it was a fun experience and made the playthrough more endearing
You should return to this and grind up to lvl 99. After lvl 91 the knight gains 12 in every stat every level culminating in 99 in every stat.
Final Fantasy 3 (specifically the 3D remake) is one of my favourite games of all time. I haven't played the pixel remaster, but I enjoyed the video.
FF3 Onion Knight is the epitome of “be careful who you call ugly in middle school.”
At max level, the class is untouchable.
Man, it took so long for me to just spawn the three dragons for the bestiary I nearly stopped. I can't imagine trying to grind for four full onion sets.
The grind to spawn the dragon was not pleasant. The fight itself was no better. Once a few onion gear started dropping the grind got better
Massive respect for ghe dedication and detailed narration. ;)
1. FF12
2. FF10
3: FF13
4. FF3
5. FF14
awesome challenge. I love the onion knight job!
Thank you 🤗
Same here as others said. UA-cam formula sent me here. Heard you had 58 subs. Now it’s 89 o think with me. Enjoyed the video’
Thank you for the sub and taking time out of your day to check this video out. I appreciate it
I'm actually in the midst of playing through the 3D version of this on my phone right now.
This was a really cool challenge. I'm surprised you didn't have to use the dragoon class for Garuda.
That was the first and one of the biggest walls I ran into. Almost threw in the towel at Garuda but I am glad I kept going.
What a legend, man; steel resolution 😂
- nice ending.
My FF list is: ff6,ff3,ff7 and ff15 for my favorites (:
I am enjoying it, thank you mate
I loove final fantasy with favs being namely :FF4 , FFX,X-2, FF8, FF7, FFDoS , FFWoL, Bravely series.
Would you ever do Dark Souls or something similar? So many possible challenges! Could be fun!
I think this came out quite well especially for a first outing! I think only most notable editing complaint was some slightly too long hanging silence and occasionally mouse clicking in the background. Mostly towards the beginning but very few issues! Especially nice niece topic too comparatively speaking!
Good stuff all around! Good job!
Omg that final cloud stomp must have been so cathartic!
The only challenge I see being tougher would be a SINGLE onion knight run. That probably IS impossible.
I'm currently playing FF3, great challenge video. 🐒🍌
Keep up the good work dude
Great vid, awesome job
Glad you enjoyed it
You did a good job with the video ty for posting it
25:57 My favourite is FF8 : )
the ultimate risk/reward class
Great job, great video.
Thank you! ❤️
@@isturbo1984 The only FF games I haven't played is V and VI. The rest of them I have played. IV has a place in my heart so I hope you enjoy it.
@@solitaryscargaming question, whats stopping you from playing them with the Pixel Remasters? VI is a rough one to skip.
You edited great! You should attempt the FF1 4x White Mage run
Thank you! I haven't picked up FF1 PR yet, but when I do, I'll have to do 4x White mage. Been getting a lot of requests to do white mage only.
You have the potential to blow up if you make these FF3 challenge runs a thing
Thank you for your words.
I shall do my best to keep going with this.
great video, ur voice is really relaxing
I wonder if this is a big that was fixed as when I tried using Shining Curtains in the second Bahamut("Bahamur") battle, it didn't reflect its Mega Flare like it was supposed to.
Cool always had a soft spot for onion knights
Wow, that was a pretty insane challenge. Good job 👍
Btw, If you like FF3 you’re gonna love FF5. It’s the same game but on steroids. There’s a cool challenge called “four job fiesta” that people like to do with that game. Check it out, it actually is pretty fun.
I'm going to have to check it out. I have several friends that mentioned this to me, so this is pretty exciting.
Final Fantasy 13 - 2 is my faburit FF game tho the time mecanic at the end is just pain
Your editting is fine bro have a like.
Super fun video.
Favorite is FF1, but mainly because it is the only one I've played. I didn't finish though. Got stuck at some graveyard where the ghosts kept paralyzing me and it was the version where you have to go back to town to replenish mp iirc.
Thank you 🙏 im currently playing ff3 and named a character after my bf and he got to choose the job for his character
He chose onion knight
He looked so sad when i said i switched him to dragoon then dark knight 😢
Im in the crystal caves now and will take time to grind yellow dragon for the onion gear
Cant wait to show him 🥺
at start: I've done it on PR, so I know it's possible, I will say though, going into the video that I expect MASSIVE pain between Water crystal and onion equipment (I got through by farming magic casting items starting just after Kracken then REALLY needed them to get through Doga, Uni, and Eureka).
Actually your job stats do go up, one point every 10 levels -- but yeah, effectively they don't go up ☹ (until level 90, then your stats go crazy and you have the best stats of anyone -- though if you are playing right you should have onion equipment before then so it will be a mute point)
EDIT: ok you mentioned it, I was just a little fast 🥶
at rat: yeah, I luckily avoided that issue (using my sell items too early) in my PR run because I'd ALREADY made that mistake on earlier attempts in 3DS version and when using an translated rom dump.
Nice job man.
Thanks!
1:02 what is the Shadowbringers theme remix titled? It's so pretty!
Also which console releases are there for 3? I've never played FF 2, 3, 5 , 9 so they've always interested me especially because dragoon introduced in 3
Sexy job lol
it's called Eternal wind and it's one of my favorite songs.
3 was released on the NES. If you want to play, you can buy the Pixel Remaster version or the 3D version on Steam.
Aaa this guy.... he even like heavy onion on his pizza!!😊🍕👏🏼🎶👏🏼
I was at 9:31 before I realized the names are types of onions. >_
