See if I did a speedrun of this game I would simply get the 1 in 100 million luck
Unless it's a 1/11 chance...
true// luck is broken
DB daily is just built DIFFERENT
So would todd rodgers 😂
Sure thing Mr. Early Bat
Thanks for covering some Aria! Was great to help out in a small way with this video
Edit: Watched the whole thing, IMO your best video to date. Super easy to follow, editing skills are getting unreal
@JupiterClimb you are very talented sir! Keep up the great work and let's keep pushing this category further and further! God Bless you ALL!
Love your content man! Your morris and joshu run in DoS is one of my faves.
you were fun to listen to
Wow, i love all your content but i never knew you were also one of the best speedrunners! Thanks!
where the hell did you get your accent from?
"this is the chaotic realm, hence all of the sepia tones" was not lost on me
I always loved Aria of Sorrow, and it's bosses felt the hardest ever. Speedrunners always leave me in awe on how can a game be run.
@KungFuAndrewTV easier said than done. Balore and the final boss in this game will beat your ass even if you're a speedrunner lol.
I never forget my first time beating the final boss. Feel so rewarding to end a great game.
Why is chaos said to be so hard? He was a total pushover the first I fought him and I didn’t even do any research on his moveset before I fought him.
Circle of the moon hands down has the hardest bosses out of the 3 gba games
Death was just complete busted. It was a substantial difficulty spike on the Death boss fight itself, and then it goes down again because the worst is behind you.
Castlevania speedruns are so fascinating to dive into, all the minor optimizations and RNG manipulations are so cool to see!
This was my gateway Castlevania. Watching speedruns, especially recent developments on Julius runs with extreme zips is a higher level of pleasure.
Aria and Dawn are my two favorite games in the series. I spent many, many, many days and weeks collecting souls, playing and replaying the games and seeing someone beat it in less time than a coffee break is both amazing and very humbling in skill.
To be fair, 100% completion speedruns take a while too.
You're telling me that last month i played through this game for the first time i was wasting my time catering my equipment to the luck stat? That's funny
I love the art of speedrun, so much strategy involved and all done in the shortest possible time, each run is unique.
Claiomh Solais is supposed to be pronounced closely resembling "Clausolas".
DB will appreciate this because this is a Yu-Gi-Oh card lol
You’re finding your meta with each video, DB. I fucking loved this one. It feels like when you take time during your streams to explain a mechanic or a route. The details, the thoroughness, and the humor are all here. Seriously great, dude 🤘🏻
I absolutely LOVE speedrun explanations like this. Love to see more of these DB!
Really awesome breakdown, enjoyed hearing both of you explain the mechanics. I'll have to watch some more Aria of Sorrow speedruns soon. Editing and narration on this one was on point as well, definitely one of my favorite videos you've created
Great video!
Glad to see it come out after hearing about it on Dr4gonBlitzDaily for a while.
Awesome. I always love seeing your efforts to explain and display cool speedrun tech in the community.
I love your speedrun analysis videos. Keep up the good work!
thanks for covering this run, really great work DB!
Fucking legend™
Great stuff DB, I love this kind of video!
18:49 Ah yes, SDGQ, Summer Dames Gone Quick, my favorite event of the year
What a banger of a video. Loving to see these collabs, first Adef and now Jup.
What a cool video. I love the deep and detailed explanations into all the tech involved in achieving such an amazing run.
Awesome Video, great content and very well explained. LOVED IT!
Amazing video! Very easy to follow and superb commentary from JupiterClimb.
Really cool video!
It's nice to see you branch to other castlevanias 😃
Cool video! Aria of Sorrow is my beloved so very glad to see a simple yet insightful commentary about its speedrun.
Love the evolution of the content mang! this video and the editing are fire
great video. loving the guests to showcase speedruns
Super slick video DB! Great job! You're getting really really good at making videos. Thank you! 😊
Outstanding video! I love AoS and this is a great overview.
perfectly done video and a perfect run great vid DB
I did a bit of speedrun of this game, mainly Julius runs but did some Soma any% no 0HP and seeing it got sub 11 its just beautiful, now i want to play it again.
2:30 reminds me of a few skills in Shining Soul II that don't work, like the Dragonite's elemental resistance skill, which increases the visual number of your resistances, but the game doesn't take it into calculation
Great video. Can’t wait for the next one
Bro, I legit forgot I was watching one of your videos and when you were like "I'm here with one of the best Castlevania speedrunners." I was fully expecting you to say Dr4gonBlitz.
Loved this! Really appreciate this vid. Was very entertaining!
Great video explaining the basis of an entire speedrun in a short amount of time.
To clarify on zips, "human" Soma gets zipped upwards whereas any transformation (Bat, Manticore, etc.) zips horizontally opposite to the where you are looking.
Hence why, in the arena zip, being 2 pixels in a wall after Right + L (backdash) + R (Bat Transform) causes a zip to the left.
Also, loading from a suspend puts Soma in Human form where he entered the room.
As for where zips send you, there are two main types that rely on your X and Y position in a room and the memory address associated with a room.
If you leave a room on the left, you end up on the right of the room on its left, normal stuff. If this is via a zip, your X and Y position isn't that of any entrance/exit to the room and therefore in a wall/floor/pillar.
However, if there is no room to the left, the game takes some data which shouldn't be used as room's memory address as the memory address for a room....
Co-incidentally, this memory address can be the same as that of another room somewhere else in the castle and so it sends you to that room. As it still tries to account for your previous X and Y postion, this usually ends up in a wall.
Wow, glad to see one of your vids pop off like this! And this one is really well done.
thank you for making this video guys i loved it
"castlevania aria of sorrow managed to fit into a tiny gameboy cartridge"
You haven't seen the 2 in 1 version that includes harmony of dissonance right?.... aaaanyway.
"The soul system", oh yeah, i remember that, it also got called, "I got overleveled for each boss due to farming for those darn souls"
Hell of a good video DB❣️Very professional too! 😊
The metroidvania GOAT
Always a delight to see runs of this game, and cool to see some analysis on how its done.
I love the documentary style here. *chefs kiss*
Best video you've ever done. Well done dude.
Randomly found your channel, solid content keep it up!
Those Lubicants were the worst part of going for 100% achievements. I spent about 40 minutes in that one room before finally getting their soul to drop!
For me, it was the Gargoyles. Never again.
For a moment I thought you said 40 hours
@@Summer-us5qlAt the rate I was going, it may well have been 😂
bro your video just appeared in timeline and I gotta say, your channel is awesome! hoping that one day you got more subs, u deserve it!
Amazing video as usual db gj, also jupter is great ❤
Also, the fight with balore was amazing, as a casual he aways gives me trouble, so much skill in a single fight
it's especially insane to think about how like, even if you ran past everything without fighting, just running normally through the castle without glitches, 11 minutes probly isn't enough time to run from the start of the castle to the last room
Speedruns and explanations gives me so much comfort.
Thank you for this content
It was based on seeing your run SOTN that got me to play it for the first time ever a few years ago. Since then my 360 finally red ringed on me which sucks. These videos are always interesting to me.
This is utterly hilarious...... often I think about people using their time to do utterly pointless stuff and roll my eyes but this is so hilarious and the commitment to doing it so beyond me that I kind of love this! My afternoon is a little brighter for havei g been distracted into watching this 😂🙏🙏🙏🙏
16:48 "Cause this bone dragon here does what it wants" might be my new tinder bio
I love this community! I have never vibed quite like this before!
WHAT?!?
14:34 COMMUNITY
DB and JupiterClimb collab
Woah this is crazy. Crazy? I was crazy once. I was put in a room. A rubber room. A rubber room filled with rats. Rats make me crazy.
When I played this game just a month ago, I enjoyed taking all my time getting all the souls haha. This kind of speed run is just totally impossible for me. Knowing that there are those kinds of tricks that can be done with this game is just impressive.
Aria speedruns really changed from the last time I checked. Learned new stuff!
Great video, dawg 💯
Collabing with these runners for other games to explain the tricks required to make a run work provides such a cool insight and makes for entertaining and informative videos. Thanks @JupiterClimb !
Yeah I really think this format has a lot of potential and I'm excited to ask more of my friends to help me learn and teach others about cool speedruns
Speedrunners are truly the craziest, most persistent people on earth. This was an amazing run.
Thank you for explaining how the RNG manipulations work, I've always been fascinated by that stuff. Can't pull any of it OFF...
a small note from a huge aria fan: you don't need the books, only the souls they hint at, and you don't need to beat legion (although I still do almost every time)
❤ thank you much for the title of the video. It made me laugh out loud all morning.
I like watching stuff I already know from my favorite childhood game. 11/10 video
cheers mate love the content and commentary. have a sub and please keep it up
This is always something I wondered. The luck stat in Aria of Sorrow doesn't work.
Ok this is something I have to ask. Is Koji Igarashi allergic to functioning luck stats ? It feels like in all his games the luck stat either is broken or worthless. Even in Bloodstained the luck stat scales weird.
thats why i always use luck cheat lol. but im casual so dont mind me
the pixel perfect damage boost jump is what speedrunning is all about. shaving off time in the weirdest way (weird in relation to normal play)
U guys are truly artists!
FWIW, a guy from my D&D group who is from the UK pronounces Claimh Solais "clive solash" or thereabouts. (It was in a game he DM'd themed around Irish stuff.)
I told him that made sense because all letters are made up anyway. Dunno if that's completely accurate, as I'm just relaying secondhand here, but since it came up, there ya go.
actually "nerd emoji engaged" you only need dracula souls for the first phase of the graham fight
Dang, you got the real Hammer to collaborate with you instead of dr4gonblitz
Nice video !
0 HP is still the real Reset City :D
If SummoningSalt wont do it, Db will do it, and do it classy!
Dream: 0.00000125%? You gotta pump those numbers up!
I saw chewy4u's run first day on UA-cam. It was so impressive! Kudos to covering it and breaking it down.
Ahh nah, mans broke the record using the Logitech controller they use for the underwater tours
What model is it? lel
Never thought I would be seeing the guy with Hammer in sunglasses png to appear in another video as a guest
37:13 Well done. Love the story behind it, your narrator voice is on point, and love the co-op explanation with JupiterClimb
"Whut!?" Nice edit/narration etc. - this is a very intriguing vid! tnx for your efforts! Extra credit to Jups, too
And Chewy? Did I not give props? How the H.
thank u I learned a lot
Excellent video. Praise be to Joel
I love aria of sorrow. It's my second favorite Castlevania.
2:36
As an avid RuneScape player, I don’t see a problem with these odds.
This Speedrun is the equivalent to a Mario Speedrun but with rng manipulation, I am absolutely stunned by runners that have the dedication to do this speedruns
That run by chewy is pure insanity. Execution was absolutely on-point.
Really awesome vid, came out awesome! The collab was super nice!
I could never do speedrunning, especially not a Metroidvania game. I love playing through them and enjoying the story and mechanics.
it will always baffle me how i, as an 8 year old child, was able to somehow get the true ending without looking up any guides whatsoever. though my older brother had to fight a few of the bosses for me lmao
Easily one of my favorite videos of all time.
I played this game when I was little and it’s so frustrating seeing you complete it so easily when I took days to complete this game
I know I'm late to the party but being from Ireland myself, the sword 'Claimh Solais' is irish and literally translates to 'Sword of light' in irish. I did some research and further found many references of 'Claimh Solais' in irish folklore. The correct pronounciation therefore would be (Clee-uv Sul-iss) for those interested. Who knew one of my favourite games would have a reference to my culture, how lovely 😄
During an Ultimate Decathlon we had to run AoS but the Any% NMG category and oh boy! We found dozens or RNG manips to guarantee drops like crazy
4:17 is crazy to even think about. I've never even heard of any sub-pixel perfect tricks before this one, and here's one where you have to also get the perfect damage boost right after too. I can barely wrap my head around this shit! Super Castlevania IV will always be my favorite but I have a lot of respect for sotn and the gba games because the speedrunners are absolutely insane! Keep it up guys!
The best vídeo i watch in this channel, so fucking clean. And Jupiter is awesome in comments
The Dark Lord is proud of this Speedrun.
This is a game from 2003? insane so ahead of its time
The soundrack is brilliant as well
The biggest shock of this whole video is finding out that that is not how "Claimh Solais" is pronounced.
