That's some hike to get to where your ice fishing - being on the lake alone is so awe-some - a picturesque eye catching sight to behold - I have a few small fishing rods which I am going to remove the smaller line guides and add the larger line guides -
that's a great tip and makes sense of not having ice build up as you said inside the smaller line guides - hope you got home before dark ( lol ) good video .

I've never caught a perch. There are not too many spots for them over here in BC. I hear they make for some fine eating though. Nice work, Ivo. 👍

The only problem with this video is it made me hungry
I've been out on lake Champlain but our ice is not that thick....no one is getting any fish you make it look so easy! Your a honest man to throw back the foul hooked perch....who is your camera person

It's gonna be hard for ice fishing now that it's around 70°F today where I am.
can you tell us your best Perch recipe please? i am very lucky to always be maxed out on my perch limit here, and i am looking for other recipe.

Can i use braided line for perch ?
you certainly can, but in the below 0 weather, it freezes up - so best to use it if you are in a hut and as always, be sure to use a fluorocarbon leader line :)

where were you guys out from, and what suit are you guys wearing and using?
...we are in Ontario Canada and I was wearing my survival suit which is a one-piece floater suit...keeps you safe and warm as well. I was using the Mustang brand but there are many other very good brands out there, such as Buoy-o-boy or Helly Hansen etc......many good brands out there, they are pricey so buy one that fits your budget :)

do you fish later in the day in winter so the water can warm up a bit so the fish are more active and your not as cold????
i will fish all day long...typically, the morning bite and evening bite are best :)
Amazing, here I am with 1,000 dollars worth of equipment & can’t catch a goby to save my life & here we have someone fishing with no electronics or anything and limiting out on my favorite fish. I think I should just give up now and just stick to open water

They are getting fewer and smaller ever year.!
Thundermist cannot even give the customer an estimate of when their purchase of "Stingnose Minnows" can be delivered! Regardless of whether you try to purchase them from Amazon or directly from Thundermist, they cannot tell you when they might be able to deliver them to you. Here we sit in January of 2020 and Thundermist failed to build-up enough stock to keep their customers supplied during Ice Fishing Season.
Hi Bob...looks like you may have received some incorrect info from somewhere...there are plenty of Stingnose in stock and UPS delivers in 4 - 6 days depending on location :)
the ice fisher men went father out going for walleyes thats why theres nobody there.
