    Always fun watching you guys. Went ice fishing last month (in Idaho)and stayed in one spot. Caught a nice one but I should have explored out more.

    Great video Ivo, we haven't had the best ice here in Michigan as of yet, it's been hard to get out much, this cold air coming in now will help, we are hoping to be out this weekend, I'd sure love to share some ice with ya one day, tight lines my friend

    Same story here in Erie. I slayed the hog perch in 3-5 fow until we got iced over a couple weeks ago. Now I can't get to them so thanks for the entertainment Evo!

    Try using a portable shanty and sight fish at 12’ deep. Simcoe is usually crystal clear and ideal for sight fishing. Over 15’ use a camera. There’s usually keepers mixed with dinks and you need to keep your bait away from the dinks. It’s an easier way to sort than reeling in 200 dinks to catch a keeper!

    I can see someone trying to convince their wife to go ice fishing. " well you stand on the ice, in the cold, in the middle of a frozen lake and fish all day"

      I got mine to go out alittle north of where they shot this on Wednesday with me, she had a blast other than all the icequakes that kept happening.

    With a sonar unit, you can avoid most of the smaller fish and target the bigger marks, plus you know when a fish is approaching your bait. Imagine how many fish you miss by blinding jigging up and down 2 feet as one could be an inch away from biting. Makes the day much more fun too even if you are only on the small fish

      I recently got a Garmin Striker 4....but I'm struggling reading the sonar images.

      @@wrath231 There should be a lot of videos here on youtube that will help you out with that particular sonar unit. You'll probably need to get your setting right and learn how to adjust for different depths and style of fishing you're doing. Watch a lot of videos for your unit is what I would recommend

      @@wrath231 i got the same sonar, put it in split frequency CHIRP mode in the traditional boat screen, not the flasher mode.
      you can see the fish come and go, i ice fished 6time as of now and didnt catch anything yet. one time i could see the fish come see my lure on the sonar, but they didnt bite.

  • @Carlos-gf2ox
    @Carlos-gf2ox 4 роки тому +1

    Why didnt you set up a tent and sight fish? Where you were 25 ft was perfect for it. Especially to avoid the really small one's...
    The lure looks great.

    quick question: how do you guys keep your feet from freezing? i got the complete winter insulated pants and winter jacket, balaclava and tuque with my fur mittens, but after 1-2hours my feet are hurting and frozen. i even tried my best thick wool socks and even 3 different pairs of boots, both tight and loose on the feet no change.
    surprise me you guys dont have chairs. i bought myself a folding chair/stool that has the backrest on it. it fold down very compact and flat, the tubing is made of aluminum so its light. i am snowshoeing on the lake on 4ft+ of snow and every pound count, i am still bringing it. (its a Coleman Woodsman II)

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  4 роки тому

      ...start with a good pair of insulted boots, and then 3 layers of socks - layers are key and boot can not be tight :)

      @@thundermistlures thank you very much. i just received a good pair of boots but they didnt fit. i am just unlucky i am sure i will finally get a good fitting pair in the middle of summer. its how these things works, its always at the worst time! Hahaha.

    This is what happens when you keep all the big ones you're left with all the small ones that lake is always polluted with people... keeping the big ones

    • @christianb8228
      @christianb8228 4 роки тому

      jeremy royal why is it always “polluted” with people though? I’ll tell you why It’s because of the mass migration of people who come here and only come to to Toronto/GTA go some where else it’s not fair to people who are born and raised here. Some of you will pull the race card because your to much of a simpleton and are mad that it’s true and have no argument, what I’m saying is 100% the truth. I don’t care if you think I’m a racist I know I’m not, and so do all my friends including the ones who are not white, I’m a realist and have the balls to say what others don’t.

    • @christianb8228
      @christianb8228 4 роки тому

      jeremy royal oh and before you try and say most people who come here from other countries don’t really fish that much think again, do the research or just take a look around next time your at lake simcoe or any provincial park you will see. White folk are the minority these days in this part of the Province/Country

    • @christianb8228
      @christianb8228 4 роки тому

      jeremy royal so what you’re saying is true, you just also have to look at the bigger picture to understand why that is
