  • The doctor is called in to help 48-year-old Priti, a working mother who is struggling with multiple problems including stress, headaches, weight gain and disrupted sleep. But, after staying over and living alongside the family, the doctor discovers that it's actually Priti's partner, 49-year-old Sandeep, whose health is seriously at risk. He's been living with diabetes for the last decade, but his blood sugar is out of control, and a scan reveals he has frightening levels of visceral fat around his organs.
One family. One month. One life-changing doctor's examination. This medical format from the house of Studio Lambert sees a normal family invite a doctor into their lives for one month to undergo the health MOT of a lifetime.
The doctor will investigate every aspects of their lives by living alongside them; following them to work, relaxing with them at home, eating with them, and even staying in their homes overnight to observe their sleep patterns.
Via a series of rigorous observations, medical tests and surprise visits, the doctor will deliver a hard-hitting health diagnosis for the family. Then, launching into a full-scale campaign to turn their unhealthy lifestyles around, the doctor puts a range of simple and effective changes into effect. But will the family stick to the regime?
After a month of consultancy, it's time for the family's final prognosis...

I LOVE Dr. Chatterjee! I would recommend his books to everyone. The best thing to do is to buy his books instead of listen to it because there is so much information one would have to take notes. The first book I read made me feel like he knew me. There was a chapter about human touch. I come from a family that doesn't hug and there is very little touch. I get massage as much as I can afford. I kept thinking that he knew me.

Wouldn't it be nice of we had more GPs like him. Some of them really shouldn't go into practice, thats for sure, their interpersonal skills are lacking big time. Many GP's could learn by watching him.I know that many maybe under stress and frustrated but still too many do not have the interpersonal skills to doctor effectively.

This has been fascinating! If only doctors had the time to treat all patients like this. It really highlights how resistant the average family is to change their eating habits. He took the time to walk them through the process, step by step, little by little, to show them that they CAN do this! So often some horrible health event has to happen to make people look at their eating habits seriously. If we all could do this, in would drastically reduce the number of these horrible health events happening.

@@sidmichael1158 I use trace mineral drops, made by trace minerals. You can buy them from amazon. They taste a bit strange, but I find them ok. Not cheap, but one bottle lasts for a long time. One can also make "magnesium water" using milk of magnesia and sparkling mineral water. It's sometimes tricky, as some of the more carbon rich water brands don't work too well. I like to use this in summer, when I drink lots of water. There are UA-cam videos on how to make it.

Wonderful program, I have watched this Drs pod cast interviews ,I really liked this program & in love with this family. I found it really interesting, after seeing the wife’s issues I would like to say I had Broken Heart Syndrome in 2016, (Heart Failure) It was life threatening for me,I almost lost my life, STRESS is a killer, it literally to 1 1/2 year to heal from it.
In 2009 I was an overweight,I started on the 2009 Canada food guide and lost 128lbs it took me 18 months to loose it, so my heart failure was not from being obese.
I have since gained approx 35lbs back, trying to keep stress down, caring for 3 seniors,& it can be trying to say the least, but I keep on.

The one food he didn't do anything about were the oils. Some oils, because of the way they are processed are inflammatory. Extra virgin oils, such as coconut, olive and avacado are good for you and for your liver, pancreas, and brain. Organic ghee (clarified butter) from grass fed cows is fine. Highly processed oils, such as vegetable/canola, sunflower, corn and soy bean are not. Not sure about extra virgin varieties of rape seed. Also, the meat, poultry, etc should be raised as free range and grass fed. Use meat as a small portion of your plate. Oily fish is good for you as are nuts.

The best way for the patient to communicate what they are going through and the best way for the doctor to know exactly the problem is. This is a revolutionary approach. In India doctors start writing prescription when the patient starts talking about the problem. This is not about managing diseases it is about health. I wish the medical and the pharmaceutical industry find ways to implement this model without losing their business otherwise this model will be put down by them covertly or overtly.

Wow - what a great show. I'm definitely sharing this with fam/friends. I was surprised that the labs taken in UK were different than the labs we get routinely in US - no one tests for vitamins levels or homocysteine in these here parts. You get your Basic or Comprehensive metabolic panel, and a Lipid panel if you need it. And who knew there was such an easy test for cortisol levels. Stress - oy!!! Great to know the HIIT walking technique for visceral fat too - that is an exercise I can incorporate easily. Two thumbs way up. :)

There is an intermittent fast method that can work, and is less difficult: only take in food during a five hour “window” every day; also, take your last meal a minimum of four hours before going to bed.

I had mine tested as well and I discovered the only reason it was high was because of lack of sleep. My cortisol was as high as hers in the morning but I'm only 22 and I didn't sleep at all the night before I had it checked. I fixed my sleep and my cortisol fixed itself, that's the only thing I changed, sleep. I've actually looked this up and several studies have proven that lack of sleep or low quality sleep does increase cortisol levels. If she finds a way to get more, better quality sleep, the high cortisol problem might disappear.

For some reason, the doctor reminds me of Sunil Shetty lol. But overall, this was such a good episode

I like watching the Doctor In the House because Dr. Chatterjee shows them how to eat the right foods based on their health issues.

But he said don't eat the sausages because they have wheat...nothing about the fact they're a listed carciogen and that they were fried in a highly processed oil.

I've felt with insomnia for YEARS... when I get on a ",run" where I can't sleep for 48-36 hours I really feel awful. I'm aware of feeling very impatient and cranky. Just to make things more fun I honestly can admit it almost feels like your getting the a really bad case of the flu! Prescription sleep aides are just too dangerous to take on any kind of regular basis, this leaves me with natural remedies like Melatonin or Valerian... Better than nothing!

I only sleep 5 hour a day, i add more physical activity, eat only when i feel hungry usually only once a day. I start this 3 weeks now. Physically i didnt see a result, but in mind i think i got calmer, not always angry, and more energy
