- The doctor is called upon to get to the bottom of Ray's back pain. He's been suffering for decades even though he looks fit and runs his own gym. By spending time with Ray at home and at work, the doctor discovers that Ray is taking a number of strong painkillers as a coping mechanism, and he's worried by what he sees. The doctor has to educate Ray about the dangers of painkillers at the same time as trying to find out what is at the heart of his mysterious back pain.
To complicate matters, the doctor undertakes another major detective story in the family. Ray and Rachel's five-year-old son Lucas has eczema, and no-one has been able to find out what is causing it.
One family. One month. One life-changing doctor's examination. This medical format from the house of Studio Lambert sees a normal family invite a doctor into their lives for one month to undergo the health MOT of a lifetime.
The doctor will investigate every aspects of their lives by living alongside them; following them to work, relaxing with them at home, eating with them, and even staying in their homes overnight to observe their sleep patterns.
Via a series of rigorous observations, medical tests and surprise visits, the doctor will deliver a hard-hitting health diagnosis for the family. Then, launching into a full-scale campaign to turn their unhealthy lifestyles around, the doctor puts a range of simple and effective changes into effect. But will the family stick to the regime? After a month of consultancy, it's time for the family's final prognosis...

I love how Dr. Rangan is always so sweet and approachable with the children. All the kids often like him and they feel so free around him; that's great.
Yes! body image issues in men are real and not talked about enough. thank you for addressing them on this episode.
Kudos to Ray for being willing to try different approaches and different ways of dealing with such long-standing pain and emotional issues. That kind of willingness to do what it takes, things that may be so foreign in approach to something that was so long a part of him, shows more than weight lifting just how strong he is on the inside. I tip my hat to him - much respect.
l am binge watching this show. So good and insightful.
Further on and oh, how invested is that little boy in his tecovery? Dad too.
I love how he checks his eczema after each bite. Bless!
Yes! That is at 40:20, so cute!
The little boy Lucas is so adorable, such a sweet child!
I am so happy you got that therapist to look at Ray's body!! He knows what he's doing!!! Great solution to help Ray with his back pain!!
Wowowowow! Amazing!! What a great intervention of retraining Ray's skeleton to address his pain. I would put money on Ray benefiting from incorporating a yoga routine.. 🙌🏼
What a lovely family. The little boy is adorable. I pray they are all well
wow, that was truly inspiring. the courage of the father, the son's willingness to do anything, and the doctors grace and humanity .... had me in tears
Musculoskeletal Therapy is the real reason that helped him to relieve the pain because they focused on the what is the main reason causing the pain and which particularly which muscle is involved responsible for it. Based on which the exercises given to him helped him to do his daily activities and gradually being pain free
How many doctors would be able to commit to this level ? Amazing. 😊
This video really made my eyes tear up! What profound changes this healer/doctor has made upon this family! They are very grateful and he must feel very gratified!
This is the one of the best series I have ever seen
This is quite amazing. The thought that someone has the heart to truly help people could be my answer to prayer. I need help desperately with my health.
Such a beautiful episode this one. Rays intelligence and being open-minded is what actually saved him. I dont think someone with low intelligence and arrogance would have made any change.
Another great episode, I was happy to see simple things to do to get clear from eczema! Also talking about mental health was awesome for helping the dad!
I would love to see this type of one-on-one family health therapy become a standard of modern medicine in every country in this world. Each person and household has unique health needs, and this type of care could really make a difference in the health of all humanity.
I'm hooked! Absolute heart the love, care, and time the doctor provide his patients.
Aww bless that little boy . How beautiful. The doc is Soo good with kids
This brought to tears of how powerful you helped this family. In fact I also have a desire to help others & shared this video to a friend
Legend has it Lucas' teddy bear is still in the freezer
So glad I found this show. So heartwarming.
Well done Ray. Well done Lucas and well done mother and big brother in your support of your loved ones. From 🌹Rosie of Oz🇦🇺
That’s awesome Rays openness to listening trying is awesome
Hello Donna 👋
How are you doing today?
I’ve learned so much from this!!!!Thanks!
How about a follow-up program? It's been a while since this came out
He has a podcast, I wonder if he does a follow up on there. Great idea would love to hear a follow up!
I've just read an article by ultra runner Adharanand Finn. As he did mention Gary Ward and AiM, I had to check out this episode. I'm so impressed with the results.
So happy for him. Its horrible living with chronic pain.
Wow . great doctor and an awesome documentary
How brave did you all this. Hope everything goes so well for you.
That was uplifting!
Very nice documentary!! Thank you :)
Lets hope the future of healthcare looks more like this and then maybe this never ending increase in the cost of healthcare will no longer be an issue as modern healthcare is continually dealing with symptoms and dealing with crisis care.
Awesome show!
What a lovely little boy.
This show is amazing so helpful!
Its make me happy seeing the good result and good people around !!
Love this show!!!
Great Doctor in The House video.
Damn he got a psychotherapy, muscular therapist and some other specialist.
Ray is such a good sport and fighter. Hands down. He doesn’t seem the person he is inside. 👍
Love this! Ray was amazing! I wish I could afford to see that specialist! Dr Rangan is lovely 😊
Love this show
Incredible episode! :)
Well, that was very moving. No one does tv like the Brits.
Great doctor! So caring
Hello Christina 👋
How are you doing today?
Very uplifting. Dr C brave and caring --- all around very impressive
Am so happy for us family 👪 amazing Dr 👏 ❤
Goes to show that health is body and mind: health is holistic.
This will help a lot of people
Nice guy, hope he takes care
"Hallo doctor!" omg so cute
The docs amazing!
Good for Ray for working out and exercising maybe he should be careful with lifting extreme heavy weights while his got a lower back pain, but exercising does help back pain
woow the Doctor is soo tall, soo helpful
Wow what a result.
That young son's diet is horrifying.
good doc 👍❤️😘
A child that doesn't eat ANY fruit or veg- WHAT!!! That's crazy
I know! Super scary
I worked with someone who got constant calls from her kid's daycare because he was screaming in pain. She never fed him fruit or veg so he was chronically constipated and had to go to the Emergency Room. It got so bad that child services had to get involved.
Do his parents eat any, serve any?
What a gent !
muscle dismorphia - otherwise known as bigorexia - the opposite of anorexia in terms of looking in the mirror
Doctor : can I look at the sheets and see what they are made of
Me: yeah minions
Amazing
I wonder if the incessant and tense gum chewing has anything to do with jaw/neck pain. Ray seems so tense, flushed, irritable at all times. I'm not a doctor, but I would not be at all surprised to hear that steroid use is still an issue with him.
Noticed that too! The heart is suffering with the very red face for sure.
I don't like the mom's attitude when it comes to the son's changes. She's so negative! Luckily the son is actually open for the changes. The mom should take example of her son.
It shows she's the root to him being 'fussy'. In reality he just hasn't tried alot of foods
I wonder if he explored the possibility of the dad having Ankylosing Spondylitis and there is a genetic link between AS and eczema carried on the HLA B27 genetic marker. It can be checked with a blood test looking for the marker.
Working out on opiates results in the inability to feel the actual strain on your muscles, therefore straining them too much causing pain during downtime. Never mind someone living with true chronic pain won't be on the gym daily, going that hard. And every opiate addict is "not that type of person" and "can stop if I want" until they actually stop and feel the first wave of DTs. Physical addictions are far different from mental ones.
My doc told me to take painkillers before exercise, because it's the only way I can actually exercise, and being sedentary worsens my issues. The musculoskeletal system actually needs to work often so that the blood flows in the damaged areas, to reinforce the tendons, to lubricate the joints and to strengthen the muscles that hold the joints. So having pain during exercise can be normal and not damaging, in certain conditions, but it is a massive deterrent to exercise, hence the painkillers. But, I can only do light exercise, no heavy weights, no stretching at all. If I did what he does I'd probably be paralyzed in a few days. So to me it feels like he's making excuses for his habit.
I try to avoid painkillers as much as possible though so I end up not exercising enough so today I'm hurting pretty bad U___U
I was prescribed tramadol after I had my wisdom teeth out - all it did was make me sick and loopy but still in pain don't know how he's built up such a tolerance 😷
Chronic pain & acute pain which you experienced, metabolism opioids differently
Had one tooth pulled out and was prescribed codeine and it made me feel the same way
> is an IT manager
> types exclusively with his index fingers
like whaat
yes... but he works for the NHS. pretty much says it all
That kid Lucas is the cutest
So soft and adorable kid❤
Lucky his kidney isn't failing with all the anti inflammation/painkiller drug he has.
GPs have asked my mum to keep taking pain killers for the least 7 years, they say that is the only way to get rid of the pain caused by her arthritis
Bro I am 26 and kinda of like to go 4 times a week to gym. This is eye opener to make sure put your health over appearance. But Ray is strongman, he just too scared to put things out there in world because of unluckily more rejection. He needs to stop thinking of other people think about him
How lovely 🥰
Hello Shelley 👋
How are you doing today?
he described that he took more opiates on the weekends ... its not a coincidence it was a weekend he started taking them again.
Why weekend?
Just a suggestion for anyone with exema out there try using the live clean soap as it may help with the itchiness and may you guys also try aveno oatmeal bath soap and body wash also I know it works because I suffer with exema myself
Some mothers just don't realize you can't say certain things in front of the children
My one issue with this doctor is that he didn't differentiate between dependency and addiction. Ray is dependent on painkillers but that doesn't mean he's addicted to them. He's 100% right in that he isn't addicted but he was definitely dependent on them when he went back to taking them. I just wish doctors differentiated between those two things because there's a massive difference. I'm dependant on stimulants because of a medical condition but I'm not addicted to them.
Bro I was like 3 or 5 when we were first doing this and now I’m 14 and still got eczema but my dad’s back pain is feeling a bit better now.
I’m addicted to opiates for fibromyalgia pain. I wish I could get off it 😥
regina george there is one episode on it or alternatively you can listen episode 87 of his podcast
@@chinkymutreja3112 which one?
5:10 here's the real problem 😂
the mother annoys me, she looks way more reluctant than her kid of having him try new things... he just goes for it, she's all "well, i dunno..."
wth woman what are you teaching your child
I was thinking the same thing! The kid took to the new food like a duck to water despite her claiming that he wouldn't. It was almost like she'd never tried but wanted to make the kid the fall guy.
The other child. I didn't say anything. My dad.. my younger brother. ♥ my heart 💔. Hope he's ok
I have the exact same issue the guy had when he was young with his lower back and noticing it getting worser when standing. Also have neck pain which causes serious tension headaches. Im 17 and searching for some answers
dr. chattergee is excellent!
The fella is clearly in denial. He obviously is dependant on the opiate pain killers but don’t admit to it.
Unlike any other person addicted to something (drugs, food, alcohol, gambling) who just immediately accepts they are addicted and goes straight to get help I suppose 🤦♀️
There is a difference between dependency and addiction
I want to be doctor like u bro...
This family needs to watch the grounded documentary and the earthing movie. Look up Clint Ober the man who discovered this amazing Medical discovery. So simple but help so many people
I can't figure out what he's saying around 31:53. What kind of surgery??
Oh, nevermind. The therapist said shattered jaw.
Time to study Ballet.
Wow😐😐😐😐😯😯😯😯
He should have shortened his training. Pain drugs can be easily eliminated if you adjust the amount of physical activity to the condition of your body. His biggest problem is his ego. He has low self-esteem. His problem is also mental-emotional, not only physical.
this guy has been killing his kidneys for the past 10 years
he seems like a really nice person tho
@@nougatschokie,
With a controlling, wicked rage and unresolved insecurities broiling underneath...
Besides that he is overweight, over muscular and to old to be either. He is doing to much and stressed out. Walking heart attack.
I understand the mind of Ray. I use to body build and power lift. I went through a few different rounds of physical therapy for shoulder, cervical spinal, and elbow pain. It's frustrating when a doctor doesn't understand the dedication to the gym and understanding the consequences of it.
The doctor is handsome tall dark and handsome is my taste
Wow....im out of werds....Godbless you docttor
