- The doctor spends time with the D'Arcy family in Shropshire. Mum and dad Dottie and Russ have a love of fast food and shock the doctor with a regular family meal. Dotti discovers she has type 2 diabetes, and Dr Rangan's mission to correct her diet leads him to unravel the root cause of the family's relationship with food.
Rangan discovers that Russ's firefighter career is more deskbound than active, so encourages a radical lifestyle change. The whole family's health is interlinked, and the doctor encourages them to transform their health by making simple lifestyle changes - involving every aspect from the moment they wake up to the way they sleep at night.
One family. One month. One life-changing doctor's examination. This medical format from the house of Studio Lambert sees a normal family invite a doctor into their lives for one month to undergo the health MOT of a lifetime.
The doctor will investigate every aspects of their lives by living alongside them; following them to work, relaxing with them at home, eating with them, and even staying in their homes overnight to observe their sleep patterns.
Via a series of rigorous observations, medical tests and surprise visits, the doctor will deliver a hard-hitting health diagnosis for the family. Then, launching into a full-scale campaign to turn their unhealthy lifestyles around, the doctor puts a range of simple and effective changes into effect. But will the family stick to the regime?
After a month of consultancy, it's time for the family's final prognosis...

Dr. Ranjan, what you're doing is groundbreaking! The world needs more like you.
*Rongon Chattopadhyay (Chatterjee). It's a Bengali (Indian) name.
@@thedescanteer Even ranjan is Indian name
@@thedescanteer why is a changed into o in Bengali?
Dr. Rangan Chatterjee is the correct name and last name.
The mother was so brave and you can see she really wants to make a change in their life. I wish there were more doctors with this holistic way of healing.
1P1Multitude by Rapha preparing for medical school, I hope to become a doctor like him! 😊
drs have 10 min appointments - not a lot of time to fix people = like he said, 99% of health occurs outside the Drs office. The advice is everywhere, but this approach (more one on one) means its more motivating
@@anovemberstar exactly!
She's not brave. She's a hypochondriac. Too much information out there for her to be feeding rubbish to her family. They are lazy. Period.
This man is such a great doctor, really enjoy watching these series. He should get his own show like Dr Oz
This Doctor is so caring and you gave me encouragement after watching this episode. I lost my daughter in April and haven't had the strength to do anything and this gave me encouragement. Thank you. Hope you get my message.
This concept of Doc staying at home of patients and monitoring everything is awesome. This guy really want to help patients. He is putting an extra effort which is commendable. The world needs more of such docs.
He is such a caring guy when his family is upset. Very sweet.
The smoking conversation is a basic addiction response. These shows are so important to help us see what complexities are involved to look at the whole family. Fantastically brilliant
I wish the Dr just asked him to decrease his smoking or replace with vaping and Nicotine patch. May be he would have accepted it.
I love this doc. True compassion for the human condition.
He's just a tv celeb making money off information that is basic knowledge.
At 32:50 I felt tearful for this lady. Dotty is a lovely lady. The family are all good people. I hope things are good for them these days.
What an inspirational person you are Dr Rangan. Supporting folk to face their realities, in helping these people with your expertise with a sensitive caring and manner. I continue to watch your series and wish you well on your journey!
Dr Chaterjee is incredible such an amazing guy I’d love a Dr like him he’s so compassionate.
I love watching this show. It is such an inspiration. In this episode I noticed that the son's face had cleared up from a bit of acne, he had his hair styled and looked good enough to model. The daughter as well looked amazing. I love seeing people's faces totally change during these episodes.
Not another TV show to witness people with miserable life and mock them, but a TV show to help both the audience and the subjects to live a better life.
Jus amazing
He didn't mention the harm to the family regarding second and third hand smoke exposure. Many spouses of smokers get cancer from second hand exposure. Even when the smoking happens outside away from the family the children still have measurable nicotine in their blood.
that is true, he should've had the other family members take the CO test
That is a great concept! It's a pity that it's not possible for everyone to have that level of medical support and sympathy from their doctor.
This is the way ALL physicians ought to treat their patients, with love & care.
Excellent results!
Well Done to all and in particular a huge well done to Dr. Rangan!
refreshing to hear a doctor talking about the impact of carbs as a whole on blood sugar!
How uplifting is the Doctor and the whole mood of this program! Kudos for creating such an uplifting and beautiful show!
Fantastic effort from the entire family. What a huge turn around in just a matter of weeks. I hope they were able to keep those changes up!
Amazing outcome at the end! I love watching these, you learn a ton of medical stuff, and get such a sense of community and real trust and honestly, it's inspiring.
I love watching Dr. Ranjan's approach. Thanks for sharing. This made me in tears. Saving lives.
I really like the doctor and this family. They're all such decent people. I really do hope this family continues to keep striving for a healthier life. ♡
🥰
Re-watched this this morning in USA. I love Dr Chatterjee!!!! I am vegan so I have a different take on nutrition obviously I believe and veggies fruits healthy carbs and no animal food but I just love him so much and he's riding the London marathon today!!!!!!♥♥♥♥♥♥
Respect for this lady. She is such an inspiration. And the Dr is so dedicated and caring. Bless him.
Good luck to that family. It is hard work and i wish them the best.
God bless you Doc,you are doing a wonderful job.
Lovely people! Wonderful doctor. This IS health care! I hope they are all doing well.
Who else fancies this doctor like crazy!? Also a brilliant doctor and a lovely manner....
Doesn't hurt that he's good looking too. I'm enamoured 😌
Even as a man, I can fancy him. I love his passion. It makes him a beautiful human.
Absolutely it does. His character is extremely attractive.
Me too! He has it all :)
It's how health care in the UK should be.
Bless her, she looks better already. Looks relieved and hopeful.
Being around cigarette smoke increased the load she already carries. My neighbors smoke and my cortisol levels are through the roof as well as diabetes.
And I know most definitely that is the reason for high levels of both.
He called her Dorothy when he was upset lol, must be her real name...nooo it's Dotty 😂
WOW guys - amazing!! Praying you can keep going with it! I have learnt sooo much with this series.... taaking on board a lot of things for myself. THANK YOU ALL!
Dr Rangan is SOOO lovely!! This is such a sweet and inspiring show.
This doctor is very smart, I’m also in the medical profession and as soon as she talked about having a splitting headache etc. etc. I automatically thought “withdrawal“. People don’t understand that withdrawal from carbs in caffeine can be very similar to withdrawal from opiates. Nausea irritability headaches restlessness sleeplessness exhaustion are all common symptoms.
watching this and see how humble a doctor can be really.
Bravo! You had much hard work and a positive and fortified mental attitude! Keep up the good work! Well done! So happy for you!
Fantastic! I am happy for them and hope they stay with it. It's a great feeling to change your life in such positive and powerful way.
I LOVE this channel. It would be amazing to see updates after one year!
I’m in another flare up. Watched this when it first came out. Watching it again for inspiration ❤
I really like this doctor. He has a great manner about him.
What an absolutely awesome family!
Dr!!!!
you are too cute. Love how you really get into their improvement 💕
This family is an inspiration
God bless you man... it touched my heart....
Came here after watching Dr Rangan's interview conducted by Tom Bilyeu.
Great show. As someone with many health professionnals in my own family who struggle with their own conditions and/ or addictions (we're all human) and who has been severly neglected with very serious undiagnosed conditions, I think that 1. this is how it should work, people uses to have a family dictor who knew everyone and visited them at home like my grandpa did 2. For lack of decent systems, everyone is basically responsable for their own health : has to research, pay attention to their own body and symptoms.
I was diagnosed with a genetic heart condition at 27 that got so bad that I had open surgery before 30 when at à normal weight. I was explained virtually nothing and left to deal with post op recovery and type 3 pain killers (morphine derivates) alone at home. No financial help for what cost me 3 years of my studies/ carrer bc considered an elderly disease as very rare in younger people.
Now 5 years later, dealing with diabetes which the meds (beta blockers) that I now off of by God's grace dangerously trigger and which has been left undiagnosed all this time including by work health check ups. Haven't been able to trust a doctor or my relatives again.
People fight against Mcdonald, and try to get their life back on track.
Great episode. Very lovely family.
Well done family!!!
Such a handsome indian doctor
He should have gotten the other family members to take the carbon monoxide test. It’s would have been interesting to see if and by how much his smoking is effecting them. It’s one thing to kill your self and another to take your loved ones out with you.
They all look beautiful at the end.
You can take the river to the horse but you cant force them drink.
That's awesome. From Australia :)
What a beautiful family.
I'm not crying, you are
Very interesting!
This man is everything a doctor should be. He enables people to get their lives back. But I think an HBA1c of 40 is frankly pre-diabetic, not normal.
40! It should be 6 i think
@@rohitkhosla8110
Under 6% and under 41 mmol/mol
40 is bordering high, but it's still normal
Its funny how the doctor lives with them making himself at home.
Dr. Rangan Chatterjee’s podcast Feel Better, Live More is definitely worth a listen!
Awesome 👏
One of the best families
I would be sooooo uncomfortable eating McDonalds in front of this dr and the camera!
A big difference i noticed is their skin. Their skin look way less oily.
the kid had quite bad acne at the start, and very clear skin in the end! It was super noticeable
i love this, i saw Dr. Chatterjee on the tom biliyu podast talking about this family
Surprised that the fire service accepted smokers
Wow!!!
A doctor who cares enough to make house calls.
Not since 1958.
And 1972 in Latin America.
So sad that people eat so badly.
Though I'm guilty of a bit more as I'm older.
May God bless Dr. Ranjan
A center in Australia uses Kava to help with withdrawing from smoking. They have a 90 percent success rate.
Thanks.
Why are captions not available???
Doctor chattaje your an amazing man and very caring compassionate man your bedside mannor is so gentle apologgies for any miss spelling I have some issues with my spelling and grammar at times
It's "Chatterjee"....
This doctor can come to my house 😁
In love with the doctor. Please spend a week with me
He is Indian origin like many of them .....he is wonderful 🥰😍🇮🇳
This really makes me hope that there is a way back for me, too.
Diagnosis with Compassion we need in today medical field
How do they afford to eat take out all the time? Very expensive!
Penny Copper I use to be obsessed with junk food not only did it affect my health but it left me broke. I’m glad I give it up
That wall paper is making me sick already. 😰
how did they get a mcdonalds tray??#
He needs to read Allen’s Carr book or go to one of his events on his UK tours.. smoking is psychological.
I read that book three times, properly and did what I was supposed to and I'm still a smoker
So proud of this Indian doctor Dr. Chaterjee 🇮🇳
Fat on a rubbish diet. You are what you eat. Crap diet crap bodies.
THIS DOCTOR SHOULD BE IN CHARGE OF ALL GPs, what a brilliant health service we could have if all this was carried out.
Wow, I never noticed how long Rangan is..
He is very Tallllllllll
The doctor needs a posture corrector
Is there any update of how they are doing?
The Mum went on his podcast, Feel well, live better” a while back. Video version on UA-cam.
So much of sacrifice to leave the comfort of ur home and family to be with different families.
The dad don't want to change. They look older than 40
All should required this kind of new logical treatment..
I would love for this doctor to live with a family where one member has been diagnosed with FND.
39:07 I’d love to have someone like him.
everyone in the US should have this kind of relationship with their GP (not staying at their home but the deep level of analysis and coaching them into a healthier lifestyle). i can't imagine medicaid or even regular ins paying for it. it's a profit-driven system here - who/what would financially profit from this? maybe the ins companies cuz their clients will require less medical expenses going forward? the community farms i'm sure are ready to sell their CSA boxes to them. good luck trying to make this happen for the masses.
but, the very wealthy who can pay cash $3K+/year or more for a concierge GP will get evaluation and routine follow ups throughout the year similar to this and more thorough.
What an amazing Doctor .He is not a human. He is a God
I don't like mcdonalds it tastes horrible.
Last time I went was 10 years ago and I've suffered terrible food poisoning lol
katie Eaton also makes you fat good thing you don’t like it I give it up too
Fast food is insidious. It is truly designed to make people crave it. That's why this is so difficult for people to maintain their health when they eat fast food regularly.
14:00 nice tat
People appear to think, it takes hours to prepare a healthy meal. This is not so. You can even prepare a meal and put it into a large flask, if you are going shopping the next day. I had my colon removed so have had to find meals, that would not end up in the bathroom almost immediately, after eating. This includes fast foods. Today I believe, I am healthier than I was before my colon removal, twelve years ago. You can also do it.
Indian doctor are very good they put heart and soul in it
british tv > us tv
No green leafy veg or colourful veg...
