I would love to see the unedited footage, from day 1 to day "done " with all the ideas that they discarded, including different arrangement ideas. Put *that* in the H2SD 10th anniversary re-release!
Moments like 6:35 are what make these videos so intriguing. There's obviously a difference in perspective between Lars and James, but they've learned to respect and value each other's opinion so much over the years that it doesn't become contentious at all. James especially has learned to appreciate a challenge to his opinion and not get entrenched in his thinking. Great stuff.
Favorite is definitely Spit Out The Bone by quite a lot, least favorite... I guess Dream No More, just wish they would have speed it up a bit (still a good song tho)
St Anger rocks. is it their best album? of course not. but there are some gems on it. frantic, title track, sweet amber, unnamed feeling, and all within my hands
These videos should be required watching for anyone who hates on Lars. Everything he brings to the band, his unique sense of humor, it just fits so well man. So glad they decided to give us these behind the scene looks into their world.
Perhaps it might have been part of this song initially but they decided to not use it, then used it for a different song, aka murder one. Just a theory.
do you guys ever wonder how that kind of situations looked like before saint anger? it really nice to see them talking like that in the process of creativity
Watch "A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica", that documents the making of the Black Album. There's also a video on the making of Load, it's here on UA-cam somewhere.
the way lars is just tossing his little tennis ball at the mic shows me how young at heart he still is. Best band ever. wait...Now that we're big my dear, we're the best band ever. Now that we're big my dear, we'll sell out wherever!
I think they should do the next album with Rob and Kirk. They could bring new stuff to their albums and the bass could improve sooo much! But I loved this album
im gonna see them perform this week in LA, it will be my first time ever after 15 years wait. Hope i dont get heartattack cause of excitement when i see them
Donald Campbell Cool. I was waiting for them to come here to Florida at that time but they never did till 1988 but was to broke at that time for a ticket. It was Monsters of Rock. Before that In summer 86 I heard they were with Ozzy then freaked when I heard the tour was coming here in September that year but then they broke off & went to Europe in August & Cliff was killed.
It was at the Oakland Coliseum and Scorpions headlined. 50k crazy metal heads...good times. If you look at the back of MOP album that was the show in Oakland.
I was thinking the same thing! It was dynamic. He doesn’t do that walk “down” the fret board much in solos and it really gave it some blues-ie funk. I’d like to hear more Kirk solos like that one instead of just way up high on the fret board using wah pedal. He can do all kinds of stuff if he wants. That solo just needed a little cleanup and it would be money.
Nicekkk He is not a metallica hater just because he doesnt like the solos idiot,, i am the biggest metallica fan i was obsessed with this band and still am but like he said the solos are terrible if not even worse than terrible, you obviously dont play guitar to understand...
One of my favourite song off the album. Great seeing all these behind the scenes videos of how the songs come together. Metallica truly are the 'band of the people'.
When Hetfields on it, yes fuggin on it! When he does that high pitch yell, that’s he’s only started doing since St. Anger, it just irks my ears, but when he’s crankin stuff like this song, it just sounds so comfortable for him and it just clicks! Dudes a monster.
This is my favorite off of Hardwired,I am 45 years old and I headbang! The opening riff is really heavy. Thanks again guys,my favorite band in the whole world!
The honesty that Lars and James have with each other is awesome. I love that they can talk like this and take criticism without lashing out as much. I'm sure it still happens, but the conversation they have in this is fascinating.
Guys, thanks so much for releasing all of these making of vids, I've been rockin out so hard to them. it'd be great to watch kirk do like 50 takes on any of these
Amalokch THANK YOU. I really wish they would have used a lot more than they did from that solo. It was absolutely perfect and really brought out his style
that solo man, looks like Hammetts hand swallows the back of the guitar!!! Best solos of the year!!! and the competition is stiff i know the gravity of what I just text
LOL. I wanna be the guy that holds the strings at the bridge of Rob's bass. The look on his face is priceless. I'd do it in a heartbeat and with a smile on my face.
***** it is good for me because it is so groovy, I can be working or doing something else and leave it at the background and I'll know that I'll have a great time listening to it.
Glad to see Trujillo in there helping out. He is insanely under rated and it really shows on this record. The intro on Manunkind sounds like an old school intro from Ride The Lightening, or ...And Justice For All.
Also LOVE how Lars brings up Saint Anger and James is just like, 'Nope. Don't hear that. Sounds more like a song that's not on Saint Anger. We don't talk about that album.' lmfao
These videos are too short, could watch them all day long.
EliKRistberg there is a 2 hour version of it
I would love to see the unedited footage, from day 1 to day "done " with all the ideas that they discarded, including different arrangement ideas. Put *that* in the H2SD 10th anniversary re-release!
@Riften Guard haha good one 😂
All night (mare) long
Not enough me in this video.
Lars Ulrich's China Cymbal What do you mean... you follow Lars everywhere leave him alone
There's too much of you on tour, mate. Ask your friend, Ride, to fill in for you.
oh nio
I see you everywhere
Thank god
Moments like 6:35 are what make these videos so intriguing. James especially has learned to appreciate a challenge to his opinion and not get entrenched in his thinking. Great stuff.
holy shit james voice is amazing
definitely sounds better than on death magnetic; couple more years of vocal coaching helped him after the blowout and stopping the alcohol i think
I honestly think that his best singing is still ahead.
+RickGrimes41 yeah you are right and Spit Out The Bone have his 93's yell especially "man over thrones" part
Lυиαтyc vamo' a calmarno' 🐢
I love the vocals on this song, drums are also pretty good
Nice to see the evolution of all those great riffs!
Well thanks dude :) Don't know yet but I have a gig in 2 days so can't do anything before that
But I think I'll end up doing every songs anyway!
Favorite is definitely Spit Out The Bone by quite a lot, least favorite... I guess Dream No More, just wish they would have speed it up a bit (still a good song tho)
Dave G yes yes yes. That's the heaviest riff by far, reminds of thing that should not be...slow, fat, and ugly kinda heavy
Yeah gotta admit that's heavy but he forced me to choose one x)
I'm a 10th grader a still love old music I'm just thankful to God that Rock and roll will never go away.
8:20 one of my favorite moments on the album. Sounds so cool imo.
St. Anger has some pretty underrated songs. It was nice to hear All Within My Hands being mentioned.
in what minute?
Thebiggestbeast111 Fran-tictictic will never be good for the sole reason that he says Fran-tictictic and that's retarded
I agree. There are a lot of songs that grew on me as I listened to the album. "Some Kind of Monster," "Invisible Kid," "Shoot Me Again."
St Anger rocks. is it their best album? of course not. but there are some gems on it. frantic, title track, sweet amber, unnamed feeling, and all within my hands
Shoot Me Again is the only song on the album that I think is garbage.
4:07 damn that solo was sweet, I can't believe this guy improvised every each one of these solos
Thats the essential part of a guitar or a bass solo
Improvise the liks and arrangements
These videos should be required watching for anyone who hates on Lars. Everything he brings to the band, his unique sense of humor, it just fits so well man. So glad they decided to give us these behind the scene looks into their world.
Lars is the worst drummer in metal history and Metallica fans have no taste.
09:05 Producer: Say when. James: When 😂
Brutal 😁
I am confused
James is the king of Dad jokes😂
Greg*
1:08 Wow Lars Aged a lot in that brief amount of time...
That's the drum tech man xD
Shaz Shaz yes he was. as joke since Lars isn't even in the shot
Hahahahaha, Bilbo Baggins on the drums
Mickey Sigrist
LMFAO!
Who cares he can still kick arse on the drums, old joke wearing thin as usual.
At 5:35 I wonder if that guy will come out on stage to hold the bass strings down for Tujiro hahahahah
Tujiro?
@@_nurmi06 Gojira one man cover band.
I thought the same thing 🤣🤣
4:08 Kirk is a genius, just plays a random solo and it sounds better than the final version😂
I like that random solos but the final solo has more , i like the final more ! But the random solo sounds amazing too
He rarely seems to prep a solo, he'll improvise a bunch of them and then piece together the best bits
I'm your dictionary. Genius
It’s seriously the same template as 98% of his other solos.
7:39 the sweetest guitar sound I've ever heard in my entire life
Still for waiting to see the making of Spit out the Bone
Literally the only making of video I want to see. Don't care about most of the rest as they're turgid duffers.
larsson Ugh.
relax,gonna be soon
And Halo on Fire :D
It's the song the internet loves the most, they're gonna keep it as the last one.
Amazing solo by Mr.Hammet!Touch by Hendrix soul!
I love listening to this song while I’m driving. I also love that cool palm muted bridge after the solo. Sounds so cool.
04:06 - 04:38 That's a pretty killer solo.
Abbas Momin “that had a lot of good stuff in it kirk”
I love the groove in this song. The riff is killer! So many good songs on this album.
damn,Kirk's solo was awesome! I wish it made the record!
Exactly what I was thinking. That solo is better than the one they went with IMO.
2:04 That's a part from "Murder One"
Perhaps it might have been part of this song initially but they decided to not use it, then used it for a different song, aka murder one. Just a theory.
@@alexhollon7526 You came three years later man haha, but yes, that makes a lot of sense actually.
@@luisd.navarretec.5404 hey better late than never lol
4:08 This or something very similar should've been the solo. Really like where he took it.
1:08 Lars in 10 years from now!
Underrated comment. Well, 43 likes but needs more!
God that angle is terrifying
He looked like Tom Hanks at that angle.
Hahaha!!! Well spotted!
(Lars too by that time 🤣🤣🤣)
Scary
Damn when you see them in the studio working hard makes you appreciate their music even more!!!!!
do you guys ever wonder how that kind of situations looked like before saint anger? it really nice to see them talking like that in the process of creativity
Watch "A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica", that documents the making of the Black Album. There's also a video on the making of Load, it's here on UA-cam somewhere.

I think they should do the next album with Rob and Kirk. They could bring new stuff to their albums and the bass could improve sooo much! But I loved this album
St Anger is a very misunderstood album. Lars mentioning All Within My Hands made me think about it..pure raw emotion on that record
im gonna see them perform this week in LA, it will be my first time ever after 15 years wait. Hope i dont get heartattack cause of excitement when i see them
You'll have a great time wish I could be there. Only time I saw them was in 1989
Diggerdog2nd that wouldve been the best fuckin year to see them! If you could see them once it would be 89'
+Diggerdog2nd I was lucky enough to see them in 85 and Cliff was a beast!
I can watch metallica write songs all day
The solo at 4:05 might be the best Kirk solo EVER, and less than 1% of Metallica fans will ever hear it...wow
It’s the solo from the song
@@GTRrocker84 it's not the solo that's on the album though, sadly.
I was thinking the same thing! It was dynamic. He doesn’t do that walk “down” the fret board much in solos and it really gave it some blues-ie funk. Kirk Hammett has a done a ton of great riffs, but this is for sure in my top 5.
I heard it.
Is it just me or have we seen Lars eating and talking at the same time a million times during the last 30 years?
He should be far fatter than he is.
@@alexbrown8552 Dude's got one hell of a metabolism lol
That solo at 4:05 tho
AJFA stuff right there
@@AyedUA-cam the first half of the solo is really good
that solo should have made the record!!!
the first half they shouldve fkn kept ahaha
I think that solo is better than the one on the album but the one on the album fits the song more
It’s cool to see them discussing and being open to each other’s opinions
That solo is better than the actual solo on the record
Emanuele Majeli The final solo was awesome
Emanuele Majeli, all solos this álbum are terrible
Can't take you serious with profile picture like that. Solos were killer you bandwagon metallica hater.
lol
both solos suck but this one is even worse
Nicekkk He is not a metallica hater just because he doesnt like the solos idiot,, i am the biggest metallica fan i was obsessed with this band and still am but like he said the solos are terrible if not even worse than terrible, you obviously dont play guitar to understand...
I love seeing how these songs are written!
The most original song on this album. I love it. 👍
The beginning riff to this video is beautiful
8:25 The riff GOD
best song in the album. fuckin' great lyrics and guitar solo by ripper.
Alex Koh No warning? No second chance?
I loved these videos for the making of Death Magnetic. So glad they're doing them for Hardwired too
One of my favourite song off the album. Great seeing all these behind the scenes videos of how the songs come together. Metallica truly are the 'band of the people'.
Best song the new album. This was highly enjoyable to watch. :)
When Hetfields on it, yes fuggin on it! When he does that high pitch yell, that’s he’s only started doing since St. Anger, it just irks my ears, but when he’s crankin stuff like this song, it just sounds so comfortable for him and it just clicks! Dudes a monster.
This is probably my favourite song from this album 💙
It's awesome
I do like this one. But my favorite is Halo on Fire. That song is like someone peeked in my head and wrote what they saw/read.
I think they are even better than before!
It's 2020 and this song still plays in my head daily. But so does Master of Puppets... the entire album.
this is my favorite song of the album
There should be a video where they explain a couple of songs (5:50) would be pretty interesting how they understand theire own songs.
Kirk's different solo licks there were fantastic.
I sooo love this behind the scenes stuff. Thank you so very much for sharing.
RTFO 🤘
Is nobody going to mention the sick ass solo? Stuff sounded like it came straight out of the 80s man.. his style came out perfectly there
This is my favorite off of Hardwired,I am 45 years old and I headbang! The opening riff is really heavy. Thanks again guys,my favorite band in the whole world!
Take care of your neck! ;-)
I freaking love this song, my favorite track on Hard Wired! It feels like a mix of all the eras with a touch of new, so freaking good!
Man they're actually talking about st. Anger.....=) a fans dreame come true!
I see the "Eet Fuk" Explorer from the Justice Tour hanging on the wall. That's straight up beauty right there.
"You know like in the last song of st. anger, whats it called?" - Classic Lars
Can't blame him. His snare erased his memory. All he remembers now is BONG BONG BONG BONG
Actually Lars has a photographic memory so that's odd he doesn't remember. It's not " classic Lars " at all
The honesty that Lars and James have with each other is awesome. I love that they can talk like this and take criticism without lashing out as much. I'm sure it still happens, but the conversation they have in this is fascinating.
i cant keep up with all these professional terms such as "bendy thing"
I'd love it if a lot more bands made videos like this.
All Within My Hands is one of my favorite songs that Metallica had ever made; My World as well.
You got good taste :)
The riff master playing a Les Paul, basically my dream come true. This is possibly my favourite song off hardwired. Mid tempo chuggy goodness.
Love this song, it is so heavy! One of my faves on this album. I literally can't get enough of it. Thank you for sharing these videos!
Guys, thanks so much for releasing all of these making of vids, I've been rockin out so hard to them. it'd be great to watch kirk do like 50 takes on any of these
My favorite song of this album , after moth into flame lml
22xTFranco Tu foto de perfil es del indio Solari?
No, es el pelado Cordera
anda cagar pelotudo, no se te puede preguntar nada de onda sin que te salte el complejo de argentino que se las sabe todas, imbecil
Best Metallica cd in a long time freaking Rocks
Ron Anderson ps4
Nice Guitar Solo KIRK!!!
Amalokch THANK YOU. I really wish they would have used a lot more than they did from that solo. It was absolutely perfect and really brought out his style
Love how lars sits there and suggests that other members of the band are playing it safe and not going outside their comfort zone
Best song on the album.
still will never understand how the Solo take at 4:05 didn't make it on the record, so much better, slick as hell!!!
A Load era sounding track. Love it.
This is one of my favorite songs. i love the melodic metal style they went with on this album.
I didn't know James held a guitar while recording vocal parts. Makes sense, tho.
GODS AMONGST MEN!!!one day I will see them play! 30yrs been listening
04:08 04:38 AWESOME!!!!!
I could watch these forever
that solo man, looks like Hammetts hand swallows the back of the guitar!!! Best solos of the year!!! and the competition is stiff i know the gravity of what I just text
I'm glad they finally uploaded this!
08:22 I really like that part. it reminds me of The outlaw torn. I whish they made it longer just like in outlaw
One of my favorite tracks, for sure...
Mi canción favorita hasta ahora del album!
LOL. I wanna be the guy that holds the strings at the bridge of Rob's bass. The look on his face is priceless. I'd do it in a heartbeat and with a smile on my face.
0:42 St. Anger snare is back!! :)
My second favorite track on the album🤘🏼
Chuga chuga chuga chuga
0:33 I prefer this riff than the final version.
so cool they show these videos man. every artist should do this!
please making of Spit Out The Bone
I think they're saving the best for last lol
I think it's just a matter of days untill the wait is over since they covered most songs of the album at this point ;-) \m/
My favorite song on the whole album. Metallica frackin' rocks! \m/
This is I think my favorite one in the record. It's predictable and monotone, and that is not a bad thing, I love it.
***** it is good for me because it is so groovy, I can be working or doing something else and leave it at the background and I'll know that I'll have a great time listening to it.
Aenigma X It has a great groove that I like, am i savage is the worst for me
This is new for me too: first time I listen a Metallica song that dissapoints me so bad. Such a fucking piece of shit
At 3:30 yeah he put down his coffee and plays guitar like a god! Just brilliant and Artistic! Well done.
Still for waiting "Maing of Atlas, Rise!"
ExtremePlayGame aka the music video
BowlfullofSoup 69 not really. The music video also used clips from the Making of Hardwired and Moth into Flame
There's nothing like seeing the masters at work and how it all starts and when it comes to an end before we get it.
Hey, Kirk is in the studio, playing rhythm guitar. Wow. I thought they only flew him in to play the solos. ;-)
I love see james drink mate. I from Argentina. your last album is amazing. congratulations. thanks for everything.
best song on the album \m/
Glad to see Trujillo in there helping out. He is insanely under rated and it really shows on this record. The intro on Manunkind sounds like an old school intro from Ride The Lightening, or ...And Justice For All.
Also LOVE how Lars brings up Saint Anger and James is just like, 'Nope. Don't hear that. Sounds more like a song that's not on Saint Anger. We don't talk about that album.' lmfao
