It is a 12ft boat but it’s a short bed truck with a bed extender. I no longer have the boat but I still use the same truck with the bed extender to transport my Hobie Pro Angler 12 and Solo Skiff (14ft)
Hey hey hey...coming back to show some love..You are amazing..I have been looking for your channel..and it was really bothering me that I was not supporting as promised..I am so grateful to you..for the success of my channel, as you informed me of Professional student the rest..is success..so thank you my friend.. I will be back again to support. Excellent clarity.
I used to do this with my jon boat. Same hitch extender. Instead of putting the foam on the extender, use sch 40 PVC that you can fit over the square tubing so that the boat slides easy on it, it doesn't mark up the underside of the boat, and the PVC pipe will turn with the boat. It made it really easy for me to load and unload my 1436 by my self with a lifted truck.
That Murder Inc. thanks. Still thinking about a trailer. I see Harbor Freight is not selling trailers anymore. I might just wait until a bigger boat comes along. Kind of a pain cause we can’t leave a boat parked in the driveway so it has to be small enough to fit in the garage.
Its funny i actually was going to buy that boat. I ended up getting the pond prowler. At the end i was juggling back and forth between the two. Nice that you dont need a trailer, great idea and video.
Thank you. I was actually going back and forth between this Jon Boat and the Pelican Bass Raider. One of the things I saw was that the Pelican was only rated for a 3hp outboard but the Sun Dolphin was rated for a 6hp. I was hoping to use something that I didn’t need a trailer. Then I came across some Mud motor kits and that was it. I knew what I wanted to get.
I was using a mud motor kit with a harbor freight 6.5 hp motor. I do not have the sun dolphin any longer. Now I have a 1436 Alumacraft Jon boat and a Solo Skiff and I’m currently using a 6 hp Tohatsu for both; I just put it on whatever I’ll be taking out.
Sorry just seeing this... if you don't have a truck? It would be hard to top on a vehicle but I guess it could be possible. Beside that I would think an inexpensive flat trailer like harbor freight used to sell. You might can find a good deal on craigslist.
Do you think decking out the front of your jon boat it will hold 200 pound person and will it be stable..I just decked out my bass raider 10e and some made me a offer so I took it..so thinking about buying that 12 foot jon boat like yours..thanks..
Should not have a problem, I'm about 220. I did give the American 12 Jon Boat to my daughter and I'm currently working on a 1436lt Alumacraft Jon Boat. Ill be uploading video of the progress probably next week since I'm about to go out of town.
I am almost old enough to get my first job and this is the first thing I want to buy! Is it stable in the water? Do you think two people would be to much for this little Jon boat? Thanks! Neat video.
Southern Pride yes it is stable. I’ve had me and my 2 boys in it with me. Also I just took it out with me and my girlfriend. Check out the latest video I just uploaded.
Great video. Only thing is with loading it back up like that, you need to have a pretty slow boat launch to do everything right there. You'd be "that guy" if you tried that at a busy boat launch.
Haha yea I choose my boat ramps wisely. I no longer have the SunDolphin. I have the Alumacraft 14ft boat with a trailer. I also only take the boat out during the week. I don’t like going on the weekends cause those boat ramps get crazy.
Definitely a 2 person job, huh? Is there any way you can rig up so you don't have to drag the boat on the concrete at the house? That's eventually gonna eat a hole in your vessel, isn't it?
Casual Carolina Fishing lifting the back up is a 2 person job. The front is actually on the garage floor still and it’s a vinyl checkerboard flooring so it slides pretty easily on that. When I get home I do have a dolly for the front when I unload sometimes that the front comes down on and slides off the truck if I am not close enough to the garage to keep it front getting scratched up. At the boat ramp when unloading I just get it close enough to slide the front down into the water. I couldn’t take the Jon Boat out by myself that’s for sure, without a trailer it is a 2 person job at the moment.
Put a little coconut oil on your styrofoam, or wax the bottom of the boat for an easier load, and less drag. That plastic take an oil burner wax real well and leave it bottom side up in the sun, to even out the applied wax and give it a nice finish. You'll thank me later.
I was genuinely curious if id be able to fit one in the back oh my 4 door Frontier!
Since you have a garage and concrete just make a rolling table for the boat the same level as the bed.
That’s a great idea; I did that for my Hobie Pro Angler.
I’ve since sold this boat and now have a Mako Skiff 👍
Thanks for watching
I put a 15hp mercury on mine... it's a jet boat now lol
15hp ? Man I bet it scoots really good
@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish lol yes sir, I did add a transom riser and a whale tail also, it does about 22mph
Very nice!!!
Thanks
Do you only ratchet strap your boat to the bed extender or to the truck bed as well?
It’s been a few years since I had that Jon boat but I’m pretty sure I strapped it to the bed as well.
@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish thanks man, I plan on buying this boat and was wondering the best way to transport it
Um, where did you get that boat extender?
Ordered it off Amazon but I think you can get one from harbor freight too.
Nice video man! Great idea, I'm going to use it for my Sun Dolpin as well.
What make and model outboard motor is that?
That's a kool little set up how many feet long was the boat and how long was your truck bed??

@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish oh ok thanks I was wondering because I am getting a 12 foot aluminium boat and my truck bed is 7 footing with tailgate down
bass master you’ll be fine; jtgatoring used to transport his 14ft Alumacraft boat in the back of his truck before he got a trailer 👍

Sorry for the late reply, for some reason your message got put in the review box and I check that once a week.
Thanks again for your support.

About 7ft with the tailgate down

JTgatoring Thanks for that tip 🙂
great tip, thanks!
Also I forgot to ask, where did you get your decking for the Sundolphin? It looks really nice
I got it off Amazon.
I actually no longer have the SunDolphin.
I’ve had a few other smaller boats/skiff and now I have a Mako.
Nice created idea
Maurice Cason Thanks.
Nice rig 👍⚓

GetOutTheHouseGoFish quite the dilemma, good luck
Nice that is cool
Skipper Drones Thanks. Working out for now 😃👍
How's the boat and motor holding up? I have a 1036 aluminum jon with the same motor and have been thinking about getting something a little bigger
I upgraded to a Mako Pro Skiff 15
Do you need a boat license for this to operate?
No; the largest engine I had on it at one time was a 6.5hp mud motor.
As long as your under 10hp you should be good.
Nice! Well thought out!! I like it!
HoosierbackOD Thanks. It works for now 😃
Where can I get the bed extender?
I purchased it off Amazon.
Where did you get the large pool noodle?
They had them at Walmart 😊
I’m at BassProShop (Daytona) they have them here too
Very handy indeed nice video
Awesome stuff man
Rip&Tip Outdoors Thanks Rip&Tip 👍😃

Yes easily.
That’s a long boat to be putting in the back of your truck.
GetOutTheHouseGoFish what do you think is the best way I could tow it around if I didn’t have a truck?

I used a Mud-skipper kit.
Swamp Runner is a good kit too.
Easy to put together 👍
@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish i have a little jon boat thinking about adding this
@@smooveb191 Itll get you out there on a budget and get you in some really skinny water and the motor is easy to work on.
Very cool I am Florida based as well!
This is a really nice setup. How long is your truck bed? Mine is about 8.5 and I'm wondering if this setup would work for me...
Should be fine. My truck bed with tail gate down is 6ft 9inches
I Am Mwen what kind of truck do you own? Is the 8.5 with tailgate down? Thanks
Nice video. Fyi wrap the pool noodle with carpet bunk, that way you can slide the boat easily...
ISDA U thanks for the info 👍
I've fished from that dock before. Do you live near this landing? I would love to check out your boat.
I no longer have that boat.
I don’t go there a lot because I’ve never caught a lot of fish over there.

I did ;-) I also have a complete step by step guide for putting the mud motor kit together.

No thanks tailgate up I throw it up there push it bing bang boom get'er going
huh?
Yeap, Nope!! You wont be doing this for long
Why? Will it wreck the boat?
@@thermal1580 No it wont hurt the boat, but it's way to much work an time to go fishing.
