For studio song - The Art of Dying, their absolute masterpiece. Theyre also amazing live, if you wanna see their live performance then The Gift of Guilt Live at Brixton is a go to as a first live song. The best album is From mars to sirius imo, the epic concept album widely regarded as one of the best metal albums ever
oooh this is the 2nd time that live video was recommended to me so I'll definitely check it out! That's a big expectation for an album! I think I'll do an album reaction to it on my patreon soon
The riff you're talking about uses a pedal called a "whammy pedal". It allows you to pitch a note up many octaves (amongst other things). That's where that high pitched, shrill, cat noise comes from.
I feel like it's better to discover progressively older and heavier songs with Gojira, so that you get to experience the changes in reverse if it makes sense... Stranded is a really good introductory song although simple. I'd say Silvera from the same album is probably great, then I'd move on to L'enfant sauvage and Guift of guilt, then Art of dying and Esoteric Surgery, then Flying Whales and Heaviest matter of the universe would give you a fine idea of the vibe of each and every albums while being progressively heavier !
Appreciate you being honest with your reaction! This is a more commercial sounding Gojira and where they really started experimenting with their instrumentals. The way of all flesh and From Mars to Sirius are amazing if you’re looking for a heavier sound. Terra Incognita and The link are closer to death metal style vocals with grittier instrumentals. Their two most recent albums is a very polished version of Gojira and introduces more clean vocals. There’s a lot to listen to, but 3 of my favorites are Vacuity, Clone, and Backbone
I personally think that this is from their weakest album. Still it's a great song to discover the band for people not used to heavier music, but to me this is far from their best music. You can't go wrong with anything from The Way of All Flesh or From Mars To Sirius. Songs like The Art Of Dying (my absolute favourite), Where Dragons Dwell, The heaviest matter of the universe, Toxic Garbage Island The earlier albums (especially The link) are great too but they're more "classical" technical death. They're really great live (and you noticed how good the drums are), I fell in love with the band the first time I saw them around 2012
Honestly I don't think Magma is their weakest album, but this track specifically is kinda overrated, and I say this as Gojira being my favorite band. Complementing your comment I'd add L'Enfant Sauvage as one of their best and most underrated albums too. The Axe, Explosia and The Gift of Guilt off of that album sound amazing. L'Enfant to me sounds like their most personal and introspective record and where Joe really mastered his lyrics.
Hey! Nice and honest opinion, I will subscribe :) I've seen them live 3 times now here in Chile. Love them. I will leave 3 recommendations In the forest born for one thing Only pain
One of their slower easier songs, youd also like "Shooting Star" for a gentle song, or "Space Time" live for their more trippy technical progressive metal. Or "Heaviest Matter of the Universe" for a pure display of power. Mario won best metal drummer and a technical display of his insane ability is definitely "All The Tears".
If you like heavy rhythmical bands like Gojira, you should check out a postpunk industrial metal band from the UK called Killing Joke. They inspired everyone from Metallica to Nirvana and also Gojira.
Great reaction! New sub because of Gojira. They have way better songs than this one but they’re very diverse in their music. One of best Metal bands ever. Flying Whales, Art of Dying, Oroburous, Explosia, and From the Sky are my favorites from them.
shout out to jean Michel (the bassist) cause he brings the intensity to the music too. for example if you wanted to hear the bass more clearly you need to listen to "only pain" the other song from their album "magma"
Amazonia from the album Fortitude is great but if you want it really really heavy (my fave) try Lizard Skin off the album Terra Incognita. The drummer is Mario Duplantier and he's a drum god. Gift of Guilt live. If you want to see Mario in action doing his best Animal from the Muppet Show on drums, that's the track I'd recommend for sure.
This is definitely their most "accessible" song, hence why it is so popular, and repetitive. There are much better songs. Art of Dying, Flying Whales, Gift of Guilt, Heaviest Matter in the Universe, Vacuity, Satan is a Lawyer, The Cell, ect.
If you think they can do better, you can try to react to their song Silvera. Its really pure essence of their style. Stranded is kind of experimental I would say.
I’ve got to be honest. From the thumbnail I was thinking who the heck is saying this is luke warm? Then I thought about it. It is probably one of their weaker songs considering what they are capable of.
@@intjreacts The Heaviest Matter of the Universe, Oroborus, Where Dragons Dwell, Gift of Guilt, Pray, The Art of Dying, From the Sky, Backbone, Rememberance, The Way of All Flesh, The Shooting Star, The Forest, Mouth of Kala, Lizard Skin, A Sight to Behold, Ocean Planet or Born in Winter for something chill.
tell that to my broken hair ties also in another video you said that I was over 40 so if you're gonna waste our time with insults at least make them make sense
Highly recommend:
Gojira - The Gift Of Guilt (Live at Brixton Academy, London)
Enjoy!
yES.
This has been the most recomended live video so I will definitely take a listen!
Remembrance by Gojira is a brutal one, that song captures Gojira's intensity, inception and integrity. Underrated gem.
oooh thanks for the rec!
YES! But the "Link Alive" One please 🤟
You sound like you want it heavy.
Gojira - Heaviest Matter Of The Universe
Thank you!

That's so cool! I thought a whammy was just to make the sound go up & down in a short amount of time since that's what I'm used to hearing it used for
They have one of the best drummers on the planet they have a lot of great music I believe that song is about the death of their mother
interesting! Has their drummer been consistent throughout the years?
He went to Agostini drum school. So he is in a way a educated jazz drummer.
Search for Mario Duplantier solo meteor @@intjreacts
@@intjreacts no, he's not. He actually gets BETTER year by year. Watch any his solos, the guy's inhuman. And he's as good live as in studio

Only pain

The amazing thing about his voice is that he sings 1 in 1 live like on a record
Like he sings consistently without cuts when recording the song?
@@intjreacts yes. Its fantastic. You must watch live performance of this song or Silvera or Gift of guilt, You'll like it.)
The song that hooked me up by them is The Way Of All Flesh, and the album take the same title and it's the best of them IMO
ooh thanks this helps!
