I’m reminded of the Paul Morphy quote “Being good at chess is the sign of a gentleman, being great at chess is the sign of a wasted life”
Chess is a great hobby but there are so many more important things to see and experience in life. If you locked yourself in your room and studied chess all day you’d definitely regret it at 25

I withdrew from a 9 round tournament recently at round 2 even though I won round 2. I realised I was not enjoying myself at all and not enjoying the game. i think life outside of chess has a big impact on your game. You need to be content in life to be able to enjoy chess properly. It's not the other way around.

I am not a top player or anything, I am around 2400 online which is in the top 99.9% percentile, but either way I would like to share my heartfelt advice to you.
The truth is that it's not about how much time you spend training but almost entirely on the quality of that training. If the training is not accurate I promise you that you will just stall or pretty much see no progress at all no matter how much time you spend on it. Which I agree is extremely disheartening and discouraging.
So through all my experience I've had with the game I am going to tell you the secret to improving. Chess as a whole is conformed by many many skills which I am not gonna detail one by one here. But all of them can be practiced simultaneously in 1 single activity: Puzzle Rush. So from my experience this is the correct training strategy:
Do a couple of 3 minutes puzzle rush to see what is the maximum you can do, let's say for example 20. Then set yourself a next milestone, let's say for example 24. Then first do puzzle rush but survival without timer until you can do 24 consistently, then do 5 minutes puzzle rush until you can do those 24 consistently. And finally you go down to 3 minutes until you can reach the 24 maximum milestone. Once you reach the milestone you can play games and you will immediately see an improvement in rating and skill level. Then you can set a new milestone for example 26 and do the same, and so on until you reach 54 where i'm at or even beyond.
Now it's important that you do not play any games, or very very few at least until you get to the next milestone. Because if you do play before you get to the milestone you will most likely lose the game and therefore might get discouraged.
I really haven't spent that much time practicing and have seen big progress through this methodology.
But remember, still it will take time, lots of practice but mostly you have to trust the process even when all hope seems lost. But I promise you that you will see no stall at all and you will be constantly improving and getting better.
By the way, I love your videos and content and the passion you bring to what you do. You are a very talented individual with a great tool set of genetic skills and I have no doubt you will succeed in whatever you do chesswise and life overall.

A lot of my motivation in chess comes directly from who I study. Lately it's been David Bronstein. Seeing the creativity of him is inspiring. Mindlessly doing tactics all the time, or endgame studies would burn me out, and has in the past. Going through game collections of attacking players fuels my desire to progress. Maybe that wouldn't help you, but I think the "monkey see, monkey do" part of chess can be fun and motivating.

I totally understand, motivation for many things is hard, especially language learning too(chess can be like a language in some ways) , I'm fluent in Japanese but I have to always keep it up and it's been 25 years, and it's very painful to try to get to a more native level, and I had to learn to accept all the things I probably won't improve unless I put in very focused time on very subtle annoying areas that I don't need for just getting by idk it takes a lot of work keeping it up while I'm not living in Japan, but it's been a part of me for 80%+ of my life so I can't just quit. Somedays I get wayyy more into it than other though too. Tottally get you that you can get burned out or need some time off sometimes.

Recently i heard a quote from a dutch GM from the past .It was how chess has the great power to attract lonely souls but has absolutely no healing factor .I think that everyone devoting a chunk of time to chess should hear it .I love chess but it is almost like a socially acceptable/admirable drug

It's natural to feel this way. All passionate 'serious-to-improve' chess players have gone through such emotional processes - after defeats, after tournaments etc. I also had the experience, more than once, while playing at international tournaments.
Some advice: 1) Use Kasparov's advice, after finding and understanding your errors in a game, move on. Don't overthink it.
    2) Take a break from chess when you feel so. It's very productive
    3) Try a more enriched, wider or more philosophical understanding of chess in general. Chess is not broccoli. It does have some serious self-destructive effects. Yet, only such things are attractive to us....

Everyone experiences hard times in chess, even though we work hard it take time for everything to come together and to see improvements. At times it's really frustrating but keep in mind that it's a long journey with ups and downs more like a marathon not a speed run. Sometimes life is difficult and I find a refuge in chess, sometimes life is good and chess sucks, sometimes everything or nothing works. I'm sure you'll power through those hard times.

You have every reason to be proud of what you have given to the chess community so far and you'll be missed if you end here. But there ARE other things in life than chess and chess will always be here waiting for your comeback. Took me 25 years...

Chess burnout is very real. Especially when you're putting a lot of work in and you aren't seeing any benefit in the short term. A break can definitely be the best thing for your relationship with the game. Clearly you've been very passionate about chess, at some point that passion will reignite.
On the OTB point, you didn't mention if the games you're beating yourself up over are online or OTB. I personally find online games much more tilting, even though the stakes and time investment are lower, and I'm playing for imaginary website points. They still have the capability to ruin my mood more than OTB.
I don't know if you attend a club, but if you have one nearby and haven't given it a shot I would recommend it. The community of people to play with for fun / talk about chess / whatever can be invigorating.
Otherwise, enjoy your break, chess isn't going anywhere, it'll be there waiting for when you're ready.

Chess is difficult and stressful even at club player level. And it can also take up so much time. Naturally, our energy for it will ebb and flow with life. That’s OK. 🙂 I’ve stopped and started with chess a good few times over the years (decades…) but each time I revisit it, I enjoy it at a new level with a fresh understanding. Enjoy a break if you need it and look forward to coming back to it with a revitalised perspective. 🙏

As an amateur player, I understand a bit about daily life and chess. I have also made some videos myself. You want to do so many things, upload content, improve in chess, but once you're an adult, you have other responsibilities, and although there is some time, you don't always feel up to it. However, I love chess, and it's one of the reasons I get out of bed, and that's why I put in the effort :)
