It honestly makes me disapointed how much the art community shamed him and credited his skills to being naturally talented and rich. The art community should lift eachother up not bring eachother down
Yeah, it's sad how envious some people are. The whole art community should support each other to feel the support. I know many of us want to be huge artists, and social media platforms don't support us, but that doesn't give us the right to shame others just because we're not doing as good as them
I can agree. As an Artist, I'm proud to see the Progress of Pewd's art journey. It's very much an inspiration. You don't have to be a national-born talented person to be a artist. Art takes patience and effort.
They are small part of art comunity. And I hate that because of them some part of internet think that it's all artists are. I'm an artist and none of my friend artist thinks like that (ノ´Д`)ノ
I have no clue why they’re contributing his art to money. Like all he used was some pencils, markers, etc. it wasn’t even expensive markers such as copic or ohuhu. Also he drew everyday for like a whole year, and he actually used his time well. Instead of drawing the same thing everyday, he focused on other styles. He switched art styles, drew something other than his usual “cute anime girl”, he focused on different fundamentals like perspective. He even went and tried drawing a city in two point-perspective. Sure, he’s talented, but he also worked hard and went outside of his comfort zones to draw things he’s not used to. I feel that a lot of people who are contributing his success to being talented and rich are just trying to cope. Because they don’t draw everyday or actually try to study fundamentals like pewds, they’re trying to cope by saying that he’s only gotten to where he is from money and talent, and not because of him being diligent and learning effectively. Art is a process, that process might be faster for some people but that doesn’t mean you can go try to go find faults with their process. The art community is slowly becoming more and more toxic by the day it seems. Haiyahh…
The first dude literally said "gifted genetics" like pewds was genetically engineered in a lab to be good at drawing anime girls edit: here's a small warning for y'all: if you're gonna reply to this comment and defend eugenics, be prepared to get clowned on by me like i did with the 40+ people before you lol
Yeeesss that's what we need! AI implemented into people directly. Every person on earth will be able to paint hyper realistic anime girls down to the cheeck hairs and pores!!!! What would we need to have art schools for now ey? (Please don't take the joy of the journey away from us. Lookin' at you, Elon)
Well he was originally settled in 3 countries from his family and work life. So uploading gameplay to UA-cam gave him three audiences. He could also be referring to how PewDiePie became famous for his face/jawline but idk
it's so dumb because he was proving that he WASN'T born talented - his art wasn't good when he started, he worked really hard to improve.... people really missed the plot apparently.
Their problem is that they're comparing themselves to pewdiepie instead of doing what pewds has been doing for 365 days, comparing his drawing progress with himself.
Their problem is that most artists are lazy af myself included. I draw like twice a year if even that nowadays. The other end of the spectrum are probs people that dont realize they have been learning wrong. Pewds puts thought into what he is drawing and how. Most dont and just go by either instinct or absurds amount of practice, both of which just are a waiste of time. Ive seen many colleagues that draw like actual children cuz of this. When i was in university it was way worse i dont know how some people even got there when they should had been getting straight fails in art class.
Because pewds proved that if you have the time then art is easy and anyone can do it. Which is not a bad thing but the art community for some weird reason feels humiliated.
@@kamiskool3 yes it's harder if you don't have a lot of free time, but what they don't get is that's not the reason he improved. He improved because he chose to keep doing it and not give up. Even a few minutes a day is better than nothing when you are learning. It comes down to to how dedicated you are, and if someone quits just because someone else made progress, than how dedicated were they really?
@Donika691 not only that people assume he's just always free. Yeah he does have more time than some but he was only doing 1-2 hour sessions a day, he wasn't spending 8 hours. On top of that he has a child and wife, that'd also definitely take up a good chunk of his time as well as chores. He's an adult with things to do, rich or not rich. So it's wild that people claim he's just always free 24/7 and forget he has a child 😭
@@kamiskool3 you gotta keep in mind not to take anything coming from a Twitter account with a Blue checkmark seriously since Musky's take over. Most people with that mark, especially ones that say nonsensical shit like those deliberately say controversial stuff to farm engagement since Musky made it so bluechecks can make money off of it.
As an artist it's actually really encouraged me seeing him grow so fast. It caused me to call myself out on my procrastination and actually get to work on improving and learning.
Agreed, seeing pewds improve in a short time gave me a burning passion again for drawing Now i know that eventually i might reach that level even if it were to take me time
This whole thing is complicated but not complicated. First, yes, PewDiePie can literally do nothing but practice drawing. That's what art school is. He's basically skipped the step by not having to ever work for the rest of his life and making his life art school. YOU, GENERIC YOU READING THIS, CANNOT DO THIS. This is how money works. It's not a science, it's common sense. And he has god-loads of money. 30 days for PewDiePie is probably closer to 240-480 days for a normal person because normal people have other things to do all the time to survive. He doesn't. His struggle is mathematically, provably over forever. He has several peoples' lifetimes of cash in the bank. 100 days for him is 2-4 years for normal people. 365 days for him is 4-8 years for normal people. Because... he's rich. He can draw 8-16 hours a day. 99% chance that you can't. Sorry. But 2-4 years is a manageable period of time if you have an hour or two a day. And that's why PewDiePie's experiment is useful -- not because you will ever likely have his time but because you PROBABLY HAVE TIME to set aside for a few years to learn to do something you love. But make no mistake, he didn't grab his bootstraps to pull himself up here. He's been standing for a decade. 😂 2. The people who suddenly use eugenics to explain having time and tons of money... not surprising. Capitalism only works if you believe rich people deserve to be rich because they're naturally gifted. And this leads to defending the advantages and opportunities of wealth (even the occasional acquired and earned wealth that comes from talent or celebrity) with a belief in natural hierarchies, and that some people are born deserving more and others are born deserving less. This whole controversy is just people mad a rich guy has time and other people irrationally assuming time doesn't matter and that he's got magic blood. He does not have magic blood. This is 2024. Is this something they teach in creepy little private schools run by mysterious German-speaking elderly men who won't tell you their backstory? Both are relevant to the discussion. The first is completely right but unproductive without a patient explanation, the second is just fascism and the result of desperately defending the obvious contradictions and inequalities of capitalism. Defending fascism won't make people better artists. It will tell artists not to try.
Reason why I improved so much in a few weeks, passion in drawing Now today, I draw manga, studying anatomy and improving my animation. It’s all passion, discipline, and patience.
@@Genericytber don't forget patience, i'm on my road to be a mangaka also but it took me 2 yrs and a half to have proper anatomy drawing and personal style, DAMN YOU PERSPECTIVE AND FINGERS.
Jealousy is a hell of a drug, if a big youtuber started a challenge like this with one of my passions and they learned it super quick I would be inspired and glad someone is bringing more people to my community.
honestly same. I'm at a point where I thought I could never learn fast enough for it to be fun for me and my friend sent me his video as encouragement. Looking at his progress, I'm thinking of doing the same thing!
I can understand feeling jealous. I would be lying if I didn’t but what matters what you do with that feeling. These crybabies could use that jealousy to work smarter but instead
Geez, even if I am jealous of Pewd's drawings, it wouldn't be right to tear him down for having the passion to make his art. Good on him to keep at it!
this, and also i use people's progress and success to motivate myself to keep improving my own art. i do not understand where the hostility is coming from
I'm absolutely inspired by him. I used to draw many hours a day for many years as a teenager. It helped me express my mental health issues but when I looked into actually improving, I hated myself so much for not being anywhere near to where I should've been after the amount of time I invested. Then as my mental health improved my creativity just died. I actually don't know what happened but it feels like that part of my brain just decayed. I've been wanting to get back into drawing for many years now and seeing PewDiePie do this and being open about his insecurity, making mistakes but being happy about the things he likes, actually gives me courage to get back into it. So yes I absolutely agree, I am jealous but more so about the fact that he keeps going even if he's struggling.
@@BlizzardScribblessame here. The whole reason I felt confident enough to really jump into art as a hobby at the age of 20 was because I saw how much progress some people were able to make in such a relatively short period of time, and I found that very inspiring. Now, just over 4 years later, I have just finished a drawing that I consider to be almost on par with the work of some of the artists that inspired me to draw in the first place.
Two different types of people: 1. Gets inspired by seeing others succeed 2. Gets mad by seeing others succeed I'll give you a wild guess about which of these two people is generally more successful and lives a happier life overall
Absolutely! This video was a great reminder of this fact. We make our choices, and I believe it's better to choose to be inspired by others' success. Others succeeding is literally an example for us that something is possible.
@@Sassaparilla comparison is a recipe for disaster. There are so many variables that are different for each one of us, we can't compare. Why not focus on the fact that someone could improve so quickly, be happy for them, then get inspired?
While other people envy him because he is rich and has time, I "envy him" because of his discipline, for me it is VERY difficult to draw for 2 consecutive days and he drew for more than 100 consecutive days, of course I don't actually envy him, he makes me inspired and not mad.
I feel you. I've been trying to draw regularly these past couple of years, but with my adhd and other personal stuff, it's been difficult. I wish I had the same discipline and perseverance.
For me, it is simple, I have adhd. I start something, stop halfway or don't even try. So I really admire people who have this level of passion. I think he is awesome for that and maybe he can inspire me to push through regardless of it all.
It's funny how they were praising him for showing how AI "bros" should just pick up a pencil and draw yet when PewDiePie is better than them, they get salty Shows that they genuinely have very fragile egos
Took me 20 years of self thought animation to only finally "get it" on the fundamentals(pacing and timing). And I am still terrible at drawing hands lol
No one is always good at what they do. Even if you were an artist like Van Ghoh you'd still have problems and days when you won't be able to draw. The most important part is having fun and letting your creativity thrive.
I think I know why Felix has been able to improve so much in so little time: 1- He knows what he wants to do and what to improve, or at least he realizes quickly what he has to improve based on what he feels he doesn't like from his drawings. 2- He is proactive and once figured out what he wants to draw or doesn't like in his drawings, he searches for the information related to said things 3- He compromises and even if its for a short period of time, he draws each day and forces him to keep said consistency 4- He consumes art, consumes media, therefore his eyes is trained to be able to quickly realize "I don't like this thing from my drawing = I should improve on this" 5- The only thing we can say its because "He is already famous", is the fact that he has overcome the demons of ego already, when he improves he feels good but doesn't let it get to his head and be over confident, he still sees the flaws, he still sees what is wonky.
I don't know about all that. Felix has a history in Art from many years ago and he does have time and no worry for money. Already having some experience and knowing what exactly he wants to do makes the process look a lot easier. Which people are upset about how easy it was portrayed. I do praise his want of growth, dedication and consistency but he does have a lot going for him relative to others which I don't think is right to get mad over. Life never gave the same circumstances to everyone. People also learn at different rates and people have different imaginations too. If people want to learn or get better at making art they should be self comparing to themselves from yesterday, not a person who had past experience and plenty of worry free time. A lot of professional artists use techniques and references, people learning should too as it's very unlikely that they can draw up something amazing on-the-fly when well experienced ones takes their time too. I did not watch this or Felix's video so I will assume it was posted because he was proud of his work or he wanted so show others that they could potentially do the same thing (granted most people will space their time out more which gives the illusion of taking longer even though the same hours are being put in)
@@sircinabun5478 could you provide the information why you conclude that he has history in drawing? Because he clearly said he didn't draw since he was a child. And yeah, it's clearly dumb to compare ourselves to him but the worry free part is kinda true because he is emotionally mature already and he's been overcome a lot so yeah definitely more emotionally responsible but definitely not worry free. We are human, we have many worries, but it depends on how we regulate our worries
@@sircinabun5478 I'm talking as an artist myself but mostly on the perspective that when I'm approached by people who "want to draw better, like me", they just leave it at it. They don't specify what they want to learn, on what to focus or to specify their problem in "bite-size" way. I didn't see Felix videos etiher, so I'm making my assumption based on what is shown in this one. And it does give me the feeling that Felix does not overwhelm himself with broad concepts or tasks, but goes bit by bit. Like how you tell someone to clean a house, some will get overwhelmed not knowing from where to start or being completely disorganized, while others will do for example: From top to bottom, upper floor to downstairs. I work fulltime as an artist, money was always short, youth was always occupied with responsabilities and obligation, both mine and logical for my age, and others unfairly put on me. Yet I did the effort of putting myself a responsability to what I liked to do, sometimes it is sacrifices, like sleeping less, multitasking, using the cheapest material you can find or simply do other non-obligatory things in order to get access to a resource you consider necessary. So, my comment is mostly from the perspective of a third world country person, a poor background, public education, no privacy, not enough free time. I understand what is like to compare yourself to others, however I never understood the rush, yes, I do know everyone learns at different speed, however, not many have a lot of discipline, are able to self-critize themselves and be proactive into searching for resources, to make time or do certain efforts, mostly because there is no actual loss if they just don't do it, for some there is no income at stake, there is no expectations from others to worry about, therefore, with a lack of something forcing you to compromise then you unconsciously or consciously take some liberties, and that's something many try to deny, and this is something said as someone who has been around the art community both english and spanish speakers for almost two decades. People compare themselves to others because its a matter of ego, a lot of people are not quite used to accept the fact there are others better than them, or more dedicated than them, its a common thing to find people who were given the tag of the art kid, singular, some are still adapting to the fact that there are others like them (consciously we are all aware of this, but the unconscious that's a bit more tricky), at least I always found that some people were the sole art kids in their families, friend groups or even their whole class, therefore they have already given themselves a sense of uniqueness and pride on being the art kid. So they are not used to the presence of another artistic person, they compare themselves because internally they feel a sense of threat over sharing the attention. Some use that as fuel to motivate themselves to get better, others just sink themselves, some have it a bit harder since they were used to be "talented or naturals" and didn't require constant effort and constant learning, and now that there is someone "to compete against" it drains them. At least that's how I see it, it takes years to overcome, or at least to manage. I have a long road ahead myself, I won't deny that that at the beginning it was "So unfair others have it easier than me" too. But I always try analyze my circumstances and try different alternatives, until I find something that works, I know, its a lot of effort and at points seems meaningless. Then its when you find patience is key. I apologize for the ramble, but I think that's just how my thinking process is, I try to tackle down as much as possible

The so called "Art community" mad that Pewdiepie actually LOCKED IN and improved his art skills. So much for being uplifting and supportive of all artists. In other news, how's your weekend been Mohammed
Honestly, I feel those are artists that get into drawing thinking it’s an “easy” profit for them. As a self taught artist, I admire Pewds ability to really lock in and focus on what to improve. A lot of people don’t realize that everyone learns and improves at a different rate. During 2020, when everyone had far too much free time, I spent the entire year drawing. I slowly went from really jank line art and zero anatomy to really focusing and improving anatomy and posing throughout the year. Despite my crippling inability to focus, I did see major improvement. Kinda flat lined on improvements at the moment as I focus more on my job, but Drawing is simply another hobby for me.
I swear the art community is like "Only draw when you feel like it! ☺" but if someone actually locked in and focused on improving instead of drawing whenever they feel like it, then the art community gets mad. It's toxic positivity. They don't want to see people improve faster than them because it makes them realize how much they've been slacking off. A lot of people don't practice or study art, they just drawing when they feel like it or only drawing the things they want to draw.
@vinokai I have time these days, but even before, I was always told to make time. Sure you'd have to cut off things or whatever but if you're willing to commit you'd do so.
People forget Pewdiepie while not having a traditional 9-5 job. He still creates content, still does chores around the house and still has a wife and child. The reason he improved is because he held himself accountable for his time and dedicated the time he has to improve his drawing ability. He didn't improve because he was rich or has all the time in the world, He improved because he was disciplined
Yeah bc he has the money to do that he has free time bc he’s rich. He’s not sitting around all day but he has the lack of stress that a 9-5 gives regular people who want to improve so he can do that
@@Jackieeeisvibing you think running a house and having a child is “lack of stress”😂 Even if that is true, why does that justify the grief other internet artists are giving🙄😂
Lol they forgot that pewd basically started drawing since he was a child, even made money from it to buy PC during his middle school era or something. Then became winner of some Photoshop art contest when he was in university. Sure he is newbie when it comes to drawing anime style, but it's not like he is newbie in drawing at all.
I did stop drawing when i was really demotivated. But dude, when i say that Pewds helped me, I MEAN IT. I started drawing, got back in my pencil and learned the basics.
Awesome man instead of complaining because somebody got better through the trial and error than you, you instead made it a motivation, this is what people should do if you compare yourself to everybody everytime you'll never learn.
I can understand this, i just got motivated to get back into 3D modelling recently! But it hits those who are still trying for years with little improvement a little differently.
@@janelle9998 i feel like for art people try to force themselves into art styles that aren't for them, they just either need to try something fresh or try experimenting with other styles, a great analogy is an upgrade tree, if you keep upgrading the first upgrades and maxing them you dont have enough points for the other more important skills at the top (don't take my word for this, im not an artist but it does feel like its pretty obvious would love to hear an actual artist's interpretation though)
Pewdiepie genuinely worked hard to become a good artist, I don’t see the problem. He worked hard to achieve his goal, what’s wrong with that? some people are jealous, so since it hurt their fragile ego, so they think they’re entitled to act out.
If anything, me seeing a UA-camr I watched quite a bit as a kid made me want to keep going as an artist, just like how me seeing other artists’ improvements have motivated me to keep going. There is nothing wrong with feeling a bit of jealousy, in fact jealousy is a feeling we all get because it’s a natural emotion and reaction. It’s *HOW* we handle the jealousy that ends up being the issue. In this case, the way some of those artists were straight up being negative and acting like PewDiePie insulted them and spat on their hard work on art and flamethrowered them, they handled their emotions very poorly.
@@melantharosewood a little bit if jealousy can do good too, if it's kept under control. The "oohhh that's so cool I'm going to try that too" is going to get you somewhere. Positive jealousy leads to motivation. Negative jealousy lead to art block, anger and resentment.
Exactly what I'm saying! It's really easy as an artist to compare yourself and the rate you're improving to others, but that's no reason to bring anyone else down. Pewdiepie put a lot of work into his art journey and it really shows, I thought his video was incredibly inspiring and I hope it motivates people to start drawing!
I realized... Pewds love to learn. He learnt so many skills it's actually crazy and he's 35. That's quite an age. This should tell you that you can be good if you worked hard enough. I'm not much of a drawer, mostly a gym goer and can vouch consistency is all you need. 1 Year ago, I was around 90kg, now - 77kg with muscles. I barely could even latpull a 30kg and I'm now repping 60kg. And like Pewds said, progress isn't a straight line. Sometime I fall back, sometime I didn't progress better than last session, sometime I get frustrated and quit halfway through the session. All it matters is that you are able to get back on track and keep pushing. Edit: lots of my replies are saying I am treating 35 years olds as if they are 70. What I meant to say is he has a wife, a child, a house ect. He has duties to keep and yet, he has still learnt new skills.
@@jakekaywell5972 that’s simply not true. We could not live to 80+ if our bodies just weren’t expected to exist. Average life expectancy (discounting infant mortality) was 50 in 1850. As you should, because it means that if you have his drive, you can learn as fast as him. Personally, I've been drawing for much longer than he did but have worse art because I have other priorities. It's really a matter of what you find important in your time.
As someone who's been drawing literally sinse I was a baby his art is super good it's so cool he could improve that fast I still have stuff I'm struggling with lol
Shouldn't people be bloody inspired by Pewdiepie?? Why would you be so quick to give up on something you're dedicated to, it's clearly half assed for most of these people. Pewdiepie is an example that anyone can do it!
Exactly! 🎉 this is to show anyone who says they cant draw… can.😮 Also shows by taking time aside to focus on the skill makes one improve~ it works well with guidance. People forgot he did this did to have fun with art. 👏 stop being pessimistic and have fun! 🤩
Its always the easiest to use excuses. Getting good at anything requires practice , and many out there arnt willing to put in the work/time. So they hate. Weaklings, thats what they are.
My theory: Being in a world of likes, shares, views, and other forms of instant gratification has blinded many to the fact that developing a skill is a personal journey that will take however long it needs. The people complaining are essentially saying " why is he getting all the recognition and not me" when they should just continue to focus on their own development.
This is something i never expected to happen. I thought the artist community would be more supportive and welcoming towards someone who is trying to improve and get into drawing. But no, they attack him because he is becoming good? Holy insecurity.....
It's just people missed that drawing =/= practicing drawing Drawing is mostly staying in a comfort zone, while practicing is expanding or even breaking it.
No artist discourages another artist's ability to create art from their beautiful or diverse mind. If one person's ability to draw makes you want to quit, you were NEVER an artist. You were a competitor.
I Agree with you!!...Being jealous is a natural thing and you can just improve you're drawings if you put an effort on it but being so jealous and quitting when someone is better at drawing than you that only draw in a year is childish I had been jealous at many artist works before and I tried to make my art better slowly and surely but I would never quit doing what I love even if someone has a better skill than me doesn't mean I should quit entirely,
the people who try to gatekeep art are not artists. They're probably kids that are trying to learn as well and being frustrated with their perceived lack of progress. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw much better than Pewdiepie :D As the video explains he isn't even learning right. He's not drawing from life, he's not learning to observe and interpret reality, he's not learning anatomy, he's just having fun and fucking around. Nothing to get intimidated by if you're actually an arist.
As an artist myself, this really infuriated me. People take shortcuts and use AI? Art community gets mad and tells those people to pick up a pencil and do actual art. Someone picks up a pencil, teaches himself to draw, puts in the time and effort to get better? Art community also gets mad. Make up your damn minds, for fuck's sake. If you get jealous over someone who worked hard to get better, are you really an artist? Instead of getting damn envious of his improvement and shitting on it, why don't you all use it as inspiration? I say this as an artist who has not been seeing much improvement on my art either, and Pewd's development has encouraged me to do better. You not improving as fast as he did isn't his fault, it's yours. We can only blame ourselves if our improvement is slow, but we shouldn't beat ourselves up over it-we use that as drive to get better. Nothing will come out of drowning ourselves in self-pity and self-admonishment, we grab our medium, and keep at it.
I think it’s fair to say that the art community isn’t a monolith. Like, the people complaining about AI art with genuine criticisms are likely not the same people getting mad that someone practiced every day, you know? This video is basically rage bait to get people to go “oh my god, I can’t believe the art community is mad someone did art, wut duh heck???!!!” When it’s probably like a couple hundred teenagers making these sorts of comments, not established artists or adults without severe insecurities
*Art social media community(Twitter). These clowns need an enemy for each day of their life to function. I doubt even half of them is mentally somewhat stable.
Well I mean with the amount of time a filthy racist millionaire has of course he can learn it in a shorter time frame. I don't respect PewDiePie nor do I respect or care about his art, good effort I guess but he basically proved that anybody can learn to draw.
lol the worst was those complaints like: "He has good genetics!" "he is millionaire!" "he has time!". C'mon, its called Hard Work and dedication. anyone can practice and study drawing in the free time or as hobby too.
True! They just complain and complain didn't help them improve tho. Meanwhile pewdiepie still doing it even tho there are a lot of people that hate him. Like making videos, he's been in a lot of controversy and drama but he overcome it. He didn't bother to explain again to people that doesn't accept his apology and continue criticise him, he just move on and still pursuing whatever he want
There are 2 underlying problems: 1- They want to be the perfect artists from the beginning. 2- They are so focused on the end result. They are frustrated about the fact that someone else can get there faster. The time you spend on your hobby will shorten the amount of time required for you to be good at it. Also, there is the problem of repeating mistakes and turning them into habits. I believe people need some guidance at the beginning of the hobby. They can avoid turning mistakes into habits.
@@mustafaozturk2542 people can be ungrateful these days because there some other things they can spend their free time on rather than just drawing. Like take a break, be happy that you can enjoy doing something else. Have plenty of rest there's no stopping you from your goals as long you can manage doing well. You can get back in a few days as long there are some changes
Honestly I feel like people want to chalk it up to genius and natural talent because it makes the world "sexier" in a way. If you know someone's creative skills are just the result of repetition it somehow takes away from the allure of a popular artist or well-renowned writer, as opposed to them just being a unique genius that cannot be replicated. It's like finding out how the sausage is made.
I loved watching his art progress video! Reminded me a bit about my own journey as an artist! ^-^ It's always really frickin cool to watch someone's art style grow and evolve, and I appreciate that Felix felt comfortable enough to share this personal journey with his audience. Being an artist is hard enough as it is, when it's a constant game of self-doubt; We don't need to make it even more difficult for someone with misplaced judgment and jealousy. If it isn't constructive, then it isn't valid criticism.
People are talking as if he has zero responsibilities when he literally has a wife and a young child to care for, and has older dogs if they are still alive. His work day is shorter than for "regular people" but he still works, and he is still a human that has to cook and clean and care for his family and himself. Working from home doesn't mean not working, and having money doesn't mean infinite free time from the everyday responsibilities.
I think people often forget that having money also requires of constantly working on it so it doesn't run out, do they think it just spawns out of nowhere?
I have an inconsistent income and I'm still busy when I get big pay loads. If you believe money will give you more time, you're the problem in the equation, not the money.
If someones improvement or success makes you quit drawing altogether, _good._ you never had it in you and were drawing for the wrong reasons to begin with.
A very small number of people that happen to be loud has been posting this and suddenly it's HALF the art community all across the globe. Literally 0,0001% of digital or traditional artist are upset at Felix, these are insane levels of generalization
Its people who are just bitter and jealous. Either they do not have money or want to be rich and are not, or just bitter because they want to become good at art in a blink instead of putting in time. A lot of people cannot stay dedicated to a new skill or hobby for a month let alone a year.
currently going to art school for illustration, I always felt that drawing the same subject over and over again with no umderstanding of fundamentals makes progress a lot slower compared to learning a little bit of everything, drawing lots of different forms, not just people, and doing studies and still lifes. As a little kid I drew basically the same thing over and over, and I didn't improve until I started branching out. It helped me understand form better to draw other things, and learning stuff like lighting and perspective exclusively using a difficult form like a human body is probably hard for someone who is starting out
As an artist: they don’t speak for the all the art community. I don’t feel hurt at all. I see PewDiePie as an inspiration instead and it’s nice to see my childhood hero have the same hobby as me knowing that he worked as hard as we can. Envy is a real disease
Ngl i think what he did is an important lesson on perseverance and pushing yourself, he essentially did his own artist bootcamp. If you go at a skill hard, excessively for days and keep going and going, you're going to improve fast at whatever you're focusing on. When i was in art school that was also one of our tasks, was no matter what it was we had to draw every day, as much as i hated it and i struggled sometimes it was a necessary lesson on how to train /study. I'm glad he managed to push himself through it while enjoying the process, art is something i wish people would do more regardless of skill and i feel like his vid proves anyone can do it and get to a point in which they are content with their skills/ enjoy art.
Ah, the classic Principal Skinner meme. You always think The Simpsons is a joke until you realize a lot of people act just like the characters in the show
I've only been drawing for a year. I'm 36 now, and I hadn't drawn since I was in grade school. I'd like to think I've made almost as much progress as pewdie in the past year and I'm not a millionaire with tons of time, but I treat it like I'm putting myself through school. I found a curriculum and I follow a pattern of study, repetition. I truly believe that being older does help, I'm a lot more disciplined and committed at my current age, and I don't get discouraged because I've been through enough trials in life to understand what it takes to keep fighting and push your limits to make achievements.
I hope the best for your art journey, it seems like you know what to do and how to get it done. I’ve been drawing for half my life (I’m 18), and my mindset with art is very unhealthy. I don’t have a routine nor any sort of discipline to actually sit down and draw. Art will never be my job in the future, it will always be a hobby for me-but I still hope I can fix my flawed mindset and learn to enjoy drawing.
That’s awesome!!! Good for you :) It’s so tiring to see people take long breaks because of art block and then complain about the pace they’re improving. No one should have to draw every day, but they should drop the expectation of learning as fast as those using a more dedicated and knowledge-based approach, rather than as a casual hobby. Good luck on your art journey!
It's not like pewds draws all day. He only took less than 1 hour each day for 365 days (except for some days where he livestreamed it or close to the deadline). People complaining he has the time, are just because they're too lazy to be consistent for improving themselves. Heck they're probably never tried to after they got "good".
As much as I want to agree with you… it’s not that easy. Having a job and studying at the same time is draining! Sure I would have the time to sit down and draw at the end of the day, but I physically can’t, all I want to do is sleep. He doesn’t have that problem sooo yeah it’s probably easier for him to draw once a day. This doesn’t mean I support any of the hate he’s getting, I am a big fan of him and his progress is beautiful and really inspiring. It’s just something I envy, having the time and energy to draw is what I am envying.
The point of drawing, like any skill, is consistency, not trying to work 18 hours a day. On the other hand - if you think that talent as a predisposition to something does not exist, then remember the existence of Rob Liefeld, a man physically incapable of drawing.
That's not fair. I do agree to a certain degree. Cause pewds does have the financial security to not have to worry about money. Being an artist. I scrape for money to get time to make art. Which is probably what people are kind of reacting on. The idea that an artist is someone who has suffered through learning their skills. Pewds path to becoming an artist is a bit different. But not much different than that of rich kids going to art school paid by their familiy. There are plenty of artists today who came to be in a very similar way that pewds is. I feel like pewds path is different because he still had to go through the struggle to reach this point. He has the artists background as he did actually fight for what he got today. So i think these few people online that this channel now tries to imply is every artist out there (hiding generalization by wrapping it in saying "the artist community") are maybe just like you say. Lazy people who like to think of them selves as artists. They are most likely sons and daughters of parents with money. While not attending art class.
And he has a newborn baby. Sure he does have the money so if he wanted to he could just toss his kid onto someone else and do nothing but draw all the time, but a kid is basically a full time job. He said in his first video he drew like 30 min a day maybe if he had the time. So I agree with you people complaining are just people who have no time management skills or don't want to spend like 10 min that day on a drawing that doesn't even have to be good it could just be a crappy doodle. If he didn't have a newborn then I wouldn't be able to agree with you as much, but yeah kids are like a fulltime job you can't leave at the door when you get home lol
Honestly to the artists that quit because of him, good, cowards, and I honestly felt inspired watching him grow because I know it's achievable now watching someone go from hugely a beginner to improving greatly by doing art studies and drawing every day, he actually got me out of my art burnout and depressive slump a little bit. Also I like that you give constructive criticisms so if he ever saw this he'd know where to improve.
Their passion was lost long ago, seeing someone with overflowing passion made them envious and resentful. They don't hate pewdiepie and his art, they hate them selves and projecting their insecurities to pewdiepie.
Honestly when i watched his latest update it made me want to do art again. It made me buy a sketch pad (that i haven't touched since i can't decide on what to draw) and search guides/tutorials here. Like i saw myself in him with the "having peaked" thing and regressing progress, that made me quit. Seeing him powering thru is truly inspiring.
I have a friend that is big into art, and when I first met her, her art was good, not great, but good, and now that she's been to school and worked on her art for 10 years, you can definitely tell it's improved and the difference is like night and day. Really proud of her progress and it makes me a little jealous, but not enough to tell her she should stop. Just jealous enough to realize that I can be that good if I tried.
literally. if someone being "better" than you is all it takes for you to quit, then I don't think you had a sincere drive for what you were doing anyway. because there will always be someone "better" than you. and there are artists from history who are "better" than any of the artists today. following that logic of giving up, everyone might as well give up because there were already great artists. we have obviously already peaked. it's just so stupid. I'm a very amateur musician and songwriter. there are millions of musicians and songwriters out there, and there are so many music pieces and songs that I know I could not even begin to compose, write, or even cover because it's out of my current talent range. but I'm not gonna give up on that cuz that's literally insane?? I love what I do; someone being better at me than what I do does not and should not affect that, especially in a negative way. if anything, it inspires me to better myself. plus, it's not even like pewds is like taking over the market for the work artists can do these days. he's just drawing for fun. he's not intending to nor should he actually be affecting the work life of artists who do this for their job.
Pewdiepie being a quick learner in art is a huge inspiration for me. I haven’t drawn in so long due to being in a dark place and life throwing curveballs. This all caused me to not make time for art. I’ve gone months not drawing anything. I consider myself a quick learner too. This motivates me to make more time so I can learn even more. Thankfully I’m in a better place now after considerable healing. I got the inspiration to draw again. Something I deeply cherish. Those ppl angry at him and accusing him of having talent handed to him on a platter are projecting their insecurities onto him. Criticism never comes from above. It’s not his fault that some artists are struggling. Talk about crabs in a bucket. Everyone grows in different paces. Learning slow doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you. Learning fast doesn’t mean you’re better than everyone. Everyone is different. Like how music has different tempos. And all tempos sound pleasant to the ears.
the entire mentality of artists is pushing back against ignorant idiots who say art is just natural born talent, so the fact they will do the same shit to put down someone who said something fucked years ago is really disappointing. this should be seen as a testament that we can all learn art and a way to express yourself. genuinely if someone's progress makes you want to quit art, literally go outside, put down your phone and paint a mountain.
People say I have natural born talent too because I was way ahead of my time in my teenage years- but I wasn't, because I drew just as much ugly stuff as anyone else. I have sletchbook after sketchbook of just- junk. It wasn't junk though, because each of those papers thought me how to draw. Now it feels like that never happened because I was eleven yers old then and my memory is crap, but it did happen. I'm always so sad when people look at my art feel dissapointed that they can't do the same, because with enough effort and time they can.
@spruce-ui2eh I watched on siblings go through entire sketch books every few months. I've seen the effort they put in, every crappy drawing and the signs of improvement. I used to dabble in vector art and I can see the progression I made in the bits and pieces I made. And that was just me dabbling out of curiosity and wanting to try. I see pewdiepie here and I'm happy to see he's doing well.
ngl it almost feels like the rise of social media ruined creative expression. now for some people it's all just competition (for attention, i guess) which is literally the antithesis of art
@@aeoifjapefijl A few random comments from people who gave up on drawing are hardly representative of the 'artist community'. Literally every single artist I follow and talk to has only ever said positive things about PewDiePie's development, and I interact with hundreds of artists regularly. It's simply not true that the artist community is mad over this.
It doesn't matter if he has more time the other people, he improved because HE PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO IT, of course he would get good at some point, he didn't just started yesterday and got good, he learned like any other artist, why get pissed about it?
"bEcAusE hE's RiCh and mAgiCally nAturAlly gEnEticallY gOoD at aRt!" Honestly good riddance if those people actually quit, they probably didn't improve at all throughout their own journey
Art community always finds what to cry about. I’m not watching Pew’s videos, but every now and then his workout, climbing and now art videos pop up. And I find them really wholesome and motivating.
As someone who draws, it was really cathartic to just hear his honest venting about art. A lot of what he said, about thinking your art is gonna be more, or thinking you can draw something well but it ends up looking weird, it was kind of reassuring to hear because it reminds me I'm not the only one who feels that way. His art journey reminded me of my own. I'm really happy he made these videos and shared his thoughts along the way, I think it's great that he actually enjoys drawing and wants to improve. We need more people to take art seriously, and I think his videos are a fantastic example of that.
Say it with me guys. Expensive Art Supplies =/= Better Art. Just because he has access to sketchbooks, pens, pencils, paints, markets, etc etc that would cost a normal person an arm and a leg , DOES NOT MEAN he will be automatically better at art. Cheap art supplies can make masterpieces just as much as expensive ones.
As an artist, it just putting the work and focusing on your weaknesses. Like let’s say you’re good at anatomy but suck at composition and backgrounds. What you must do is now focus on the weaknesses and study composition. Unfortunately many hate working on things they hate. And is why many stagnate (myself included). I do recall Pewd did have a semi art background so he did have that advantage from those who haven’t done art ever. Given all he had to do is remember muscle memory than to gain it. But is still amazing he improved so fast. I’m jealous and wish him the best.
Why are they angry? . It is his challenge to himself. And he is just sharing it. . It is not about genetics, money, time etc excuses. . Stop venting your frustrations on someone else. Focus on your passion. Comparing yourself to others is self destruction.
it kind of is about money. i can only practice guitar for 3 hours a day. if i had more money i could probably practice for 24hours. but i work to much like what? also the days you get super busy and your body hurts? kids if anything, are the only people "really" complaining about pewd's
@@mayuri206 yeah money is definitely one thing but blaming it for your skill is probably the worst excuse ever, yeah it's a handicap but blaming it for your improvement is not a good idea
@@mayuri206 and then u blaming other people extra free time and u had busy life can not get a time practise ur art learning? sound like life adjust issue
Instead of typing in front of a screen complaining about how some guy learned to draw in 100 days, they should use it as inspiration and start practicing themselves.
Yeah, but that required effort, patience and discipline. But, shitting, complaining on someone for something they didn't agree with, that's easy. Effortless. And it make them happier with their empty selves.
Lol they forgot that pewd basically started drawing since he was a child, even made money from it to buy PC during his middle school era or something. Then became winner of some Photoshop art contest when he was in university. Sure he is newbie when it comes to drawing anime style, but it's not like he is newbie in drawing at all.
i hadn’t drawn in about a year until about two weeks ago and seeing this video and pewdiepies progress really inspires me to really commit to drawing again
Pewdiepie's 100 day challenge made me realise how small in comparison my art journey was I could say through out 5 years of my non continuous streak i couldn't scrap out enough hours for even 50 days, let alone 100 or even 365 But PewDiePie's persistence made remotivated me, watching his evolution of progress made me notice my own, seeing the change in art and structure. The man's an icon, a real inspiring person. To attribute his progress to "talent" alone is foolish, and outright preposterous. Pewdiepie's challenge shows that through persistent development, one can achieve something
Right! I draw a little bit very rarely but I know if I actually practiced I'd probably get better. His video actually inspired me to do my own daily challenge! But now I want to do it for way too many different things as well as draw 😅😂
Lets be honest, most people crying about this saying "I gave my life to this" are lying to us and to themselves. No, you didn't. You're probably too lazy and make excuses all the time not to draw and practice fundamentals. You not improving is ALL on you. Grow up and accept your own faults, he didn't make you bad.
I used to be like this in highschool, I would cry out in jealousy all the time and get mad my dA didn't have a bazillion followers. It was my fault though, my art was mediocre and I refused to study, refused to use my intuos tablet more and get comfortable with it, refused to use references, and refused to make art consistently. I only started improving when I put my pride to the side and took other people's advice and properly studied.
@@velvi8359do I actually have to do DUMB things (from my point of view) to get better at art? How stupid, infuriating and seemingly pointless! (sarcasm ofc but, I seriously think that way and yes that's exactly why I'm bad at art and I'm crying about it 😭)
@vinderbelt I will always stand by the fact that unless you're trying to monetize your art or join the industry, there is absolutely no reason for you to have to rapidly improve except for your own high standards. It's fine if your art sucks right now, the point is having fun. I don't practice often because it's not fun for me, and sometimes I sketch something, realize it's too ambitious for my skill level, and either put it aside for the future or accept that it's going to look bad and draw it anyway. The end result is only one small part of the journey. I see no point in forcing yourself to study if it takes the fun out of art for you. Do it if you want to, and if you don't and rather stick to what's easy for you, that's okay too.
@vickypedia1308 but it sucks to choose between "easy" and "fun" when others can do both along with "money" and "more fun than you ever thought you'd have"!
I been struggling with art block for a year, feeling tired of my repetive artstyle and feeling like I am not importing. seeing Pew'd video just did the opposite of all the angry 'artists' and helped inspire me. making me want to go back to practicing full body's and understanding color and composition, as I feel like I need a refresher corse. which isn't a bad thing tbh.
Same! It made me look at my art and even if I knew I had more to learn, Felix gave me the inspiration to try new tactics, new materials. Heck, in my last sketchbook I started to draw more scenes between characters, rather than one character in the center of the page. And with this new video I tried drawing with a pen and well, without any guidelines, and it taught me so much. People who are angry are those who are eight jealous, or don't understand how powerful his videos about art are.
yeah, honestly seeing that he had a phase with a brush pen made me want to start learning on using a pen to really make decisive lines. never even thought of doing that. always the newcomers showing something new
def didn't inspire me and i feel like people who say it DID inspire them are just coping. it's fine to be jealous over someone in a vastly more privileged position than you.
Why are people judging him for drawing ?😭 Art is suposed to be a hobby that everynody can enjoy . And yeah , some people are talentd , but 99%of the skill is work
Bitter and envious, there will always be people who look at others success and get mad that it isnt them. Its the basis for many political ideologies "I want what they have so we should take it from them."
And pewds literally says himself that he practiced everyday to get that good. Its not like he pick a paper and and a pencil and be magically good at it
It’s because people still have a grudge on him for the controversy he was in 8 YEARS AGO! They don’t want a person to improve or do better in people’s minds, if you do one bad thing you’re officially hitler for the rest of your life. These people need to pick up a hobby like pewdiepie did
@@anon2752 indeed. And crazy how ideological this new generation has become. There's always someone being triggered over something. Them being overweight and sees someone attractive? Instead of working on their weight problems, they'd rather attack the attractive one verbally and then throw tantrums simply because the attractive person existed.
I have two thoughts. Firstly, I'm glad you're not just unreasonably hating on him but offering genuine takes, advice, and criticism of points like the age one. I feel the internet is often more about tearing down the next man/woman than actually being reasonable. And while as a viewer it can be entertaining, it's also easy to sour your view on humanity. So I always appreciate more genuine level headed takes on things. Secondly, I like that he pushed himself to do and try something new. Life is easy to get comfortable where we are, and not move foward into new things just because while it may not be perfect, it's familiar. And when this happens, we stop opening ourselves up to new experiences due to risk of failure and change. I wish I had the strength to do this. I love viewing art, but I know I suck at it. So never given it a genuine chance. Maybe I'll give it a go sometime. See if I can't get better at it. Thank you for this video. Never heard of this channel, and I don't really watch pewdiepie, but it's great to see stuff like this. Keep rockin' brother.
The thing about his art progress is that Pewds did it very organically. He went almost a full year with just paper and pens anybody could have. Maybe he skipped the fundamentals, but later realized their importance, and educated himself. It's a genuine growth path that anybody could achieve, and the community blaming him shows how content they are with stagnant skills.
People are mostly jealous because the fact he has time and money to do that. I mean imagine practicing guitar for 10 years cause you can't do it full time cause you need sleep, food, 9-5 job, errands, etc.
@@jcbarron2783 most of the art he did was a few sketches per sketchbook page using a pencil. That's the bare bones artist kit and his way of practicing could be done during down time throughout the day and take whatever amount of time you can spare. They're crying privilege to mask their jealousy.
@@jcbarron2783 Ok but how much time per day did Pewdiepie actually spend on drawing? Based on the number of drawings I'd argue at best he averaged an hour or so. IMO a lot of the jealousy over having the wealth and time are coming from mediocre artists who stagnated because they got high huffing on "it's my style" as a response to legitimate criticism.
Its crazy that this dude started out with a garbage camera fake getting scared at video games, and he just has this amazing life now, that he certainly earned, and he keeps wanting to grow. People should be seeing him as an inspiration. I wish I had HALF the gumption and drive he does.
Same. I also tried drawing years ago, I even saved all my school allowance to buy myself a cheap graphics tablet and keep drawing. But eventually life got in my way and I stopped. Now I see Pewds and I wish I never stopped. I wish I have even half his motivation.
People failed to understand that everyone improves at different rates. You’re not in a time limit to learn art. Art is a roller coaster of improvement, not a steady climb. Some people gotta chill, instead of being upset at him improving, you should use that energy to motivate & improve yourself. Materials will not make you better nor define your skill, effort & creativity will. Pencil & paper works fine, even using a stick to draw on the dirt works. Don’t expect to be a master if you don’t even practice or put some work.
This. It's unfortunately true that not everyone has the same learning rate and ability on different aspects of human endeavors nor the resources to explore and improve on things they might have interests in. But if you have the self-awareness to acknowledge that some people are just genetically gifted that gives them an edge in life, you won't hate and find reasons to throw shade on them if they are just trying to share their progress. It is what it is.
Most people's problem is the narcissistic delusion that they're above being taught. I made almost no progress for years because I thought it was more noble to "figure it out for myself". Imagine approaching it that way as a doctor or an engineer. It would be laughable. The moment I started using learn-to-draw books, my progress began to rocket forward.
Literally this. Everyone when I was growing up had amazing drawings and drew so good, while I struggled. Years later pass, and now here I am, doing commissions, going to graphic school and even teaching some peeps on some art servers about art and how to improve, while those who were better than me at some point stopped improving or stopped all together. Art is a massive journey, and everyone will take a different path, and they'll have different, well... quest we could call them, haha!
The worst part is that that's exactly the point of the video. He describes and shows his setbacks when trying new techniques or switching to digital. He explais how frustrated he was when he stopped seeing rapid progress.
the people who complain about him are the ones who draw without actually learning so they make the same mistakes over and over so they don't get as much of a result or progress as much as they want over a certain period of time so when they see someone else who actually pursues it in a dedicated format and them getting more results in the same if not lesser time period than them, they get insecure and feel shitty about themselves so rather than shift focus and start learning and dedicate themselves more to their art they choose to rather shift the blame to others because it's easier to make it someone else's fault than face the mirror/truth.
yep, well put! the saying "it takes 1000 drawings" doesn't just mean drawing mindlessly 1000 times. You gotta actually research and learn from your mistakes and move forward. pewpewdie's videos shows a good representation of someone getting caught up in being comfortable with drawing one particular thing and then eventually venturing out to challenge themselves.. you don't get the immediate satisfication but you have to tell yourself to keep it up.
I’m trying not to be envious about it and I am REALLY happy about him learning, but it sucks that my hands just don’t do what my brain wants it to when I draw, at least online art made it a little easier for me to
I'm in my early thirties now. Been drawing my entire life. My art stagnated between ages 11-25. Very little improvement, even with drawing every day,and I wasn't really trying to improve. I picked drawing back up to do a fancomic back in 2019 and the progress I started making, even though I wasn't trying to improve, was insane. I don't even draw too often, only when I can find the motivation. The difference between then and now is that I wasn't doing the comic to make art, I was doing it because I wanted to tell a story. Once I stopped focusing on "I have to make this look good or I failed..." that's when my art broke free and began naturally broadening.
it ain't even speedrun, dude took like half a year from scratch, all those "artists" are just whinning because they are lazy bums who draw like once every month or something lol
He hasn't made me quit art I'm just getting started and gotten better because of him I'm gonna practice drawing Humans, furries (elephants, wolves, foxes), background, poses and shading Thanks pewdiepie for the motivation to help me become better at art
a word of advice: practice humans first, and go hard at it. when you know how to draw humans good, you'll automatically be good at drawing furries. take it from someone who doesn't like furries, but got a request from someone to draw one as a commission. i was decently surprised to find i draw furries good enough to fool people into thinking that's all i ever practiced!!
One of the most simple and informative videos I've seen regarding how best to practice art, plus some interesting lukewarm beef between insecure artists and pewdiepie, you earned a sub
1:26 HE IMPROVED AND HE DIDN'T GIVE UP HE WASN'T DISCOURAGED. BUT IF YOU GOT DISCOURAGED BECAUSE HE WAS DRAWING BETTER YOU WOULD START QUESTIONING YOUR SELF AND GIVE UP THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IT
Answer is simple - people are stuрid, Felix not. People devote themselves entirely to procrastination or mindless drawing of something rather than studying. If you stop on your 1~1.5 years skill just or not crying and learn how to get good or ignore other people and draw for yourself Or just give up - give up is not bad, і gave up in making music but found myself in drawning and programming
I’m jealous of how much he’s improving sure but I know he put in the time and work for it and am proud of him for it. Being upset someone is improving at art just because you aren’t is so weird man I hope everyone looks at him for inspiration and continue working hard and see results!
Imagine if the fitness community did that when he got ripped. "Artists" are so petty and envious. I'm glad pewds made them mald over them being failures LMAO. He just keeps on winning
A lot of actual artists I saw (those working in studios, freelancers, community/fandom artists, hobbyists, etc) actually celebrated on his improvement though, I saw it first hand. A lot of the folks who complained are either very early in their journey or just grifters saying whatever controversial stuff regarding the latest trending topic to farm money off of Musky's bluecheck previleges.
@@youraverageguy4930 This is honestly it. This twitter reaction contradicts years of my own art experience of fellow artists saying what everyone else is saying here. Im honestly annoyed Mohamed made us look so bad by signal boosting the haters.
@cm Fair point. I wouldn't be surprised if some people here called off the art scene for being envious and gatekeeping and while that did sadly happen, now everyone's gonna have to deal with aftermath. I can see the drama videos now "ENTITLED ART COMMUNITY HATES PEWDIEPIE" though Mohammed focusing on why artists shouldn't quit was a good topic to close on. let's just hope the main message people take here is that anyone is allowed to draw and improve like any old artist, that can only help the community overall right?
@@sunsetter4940 Agreed. Overall, the vid was valuable for perspective among other things. I'll admit this particular voice isn't where my frustration should be

Age and experience DEFINITELY has an impact on learning. Some things are easier to learn when you have accumulated knowledge and experience in areas that are related, while other things are more simple to understand with a blank slate and no biases from previous knowledge, in other words when you're younger.
It's crazy how people are shaming him for working hard towards a goal. We all have different strengths, and sometimes those don't naturally align with our desires.
If anything, it makes me more motivated and it makes it seem more achievable. I just got back into drawing this year and I felt like I was starting from square one. seeing somebody else go from zero to pretty good in the matter of 100 days is pretty encouraging.
THIS. THIS IS WHAT ART COMMUNITY IS SUPPOSED TO SAY. Other growing artists, small or not, should be supported, should be encouraged, to grow and molded into. *You won't like your results if you put no effort to grow.*
Same. I sucked though and can't get any better so it was kind of pointless to try, but I'm so happy people like pewdiepie and stuff can be super talented artists so quickly, it feels good knowing that no matter how hard I try, someone else will always be able to do what I'm trying to do 100x faster and 200x better.
Good for him. That's the way I learned. I've been in the industry a long time now and to get there, I put in my 10k hours. He's nowhere near professional level yet, obviously, but the point is he's shown dedication.
They should learn that “you shouldn’t compare you to the others, but compare you to your past self” Sure Jealousy is natural, but destroy your whole talent and life or that person’s development just cause of other’s progress shouldn’t be in your dictionary of improving.
It's the most likely answer, on a very sad way, is just people putting a shield "it's not my lack of effort and discipline that is holding me back, it's X or Y reason, and they are cheating, etc..." Being disappointed with the art community is nothing new, but holy shit 💀
I wanted to beat PewDiePie as a goal and had a 3-month head start with drawing, but I didn’t make any improvements and wasted so much time on it. Now I’ve just stopped. I know learning speed differs and all that, but I’m not drawing any better than I was after my first month. I think talent is the only factor. You can try to catch up to people like PewDiePie, but you would need to put in 100x more effort. It’s possible, but it’s better to spend time doing something you’re good at rather than wasting time on things you’re bad at.
@hundeeschon Well, I doubt that talent is the only factor, what's your thought process? do you experiment in perspective and form? Or are you simply just practicing the same lines over and over, and hopeing they look better? I'm not just saying " don't give up!" I'm saying claiming talent as the main thing that enables a good artist is a poor philosophy.
And to be fair not improving in three months isn't the worst outcome I've been drawing for a long time and my art is still hardly amazing. still, I understand wanting to invest in other things you're good at as long as you don't regret your attempt at trying something new (you shouldnt)
I saw that too. Uh? Is drawing genetic now? Or is this venturing into race territory? 😂 Heckin' Twitter twerp tryna make a learned skill sound like some nepo baby or even eugenics thing.
As with pretty much any skill, some people are going to have a genetic predisposition to it that will make them able to learn at a much faster pace than normal (e.g. talent). A person without innate talent CAN reach the same level of skill, it’ll just take them many more hours of training and practice. However to deny that talent is real, and to insist that everyone has the same innate aptitude to learn any skill, is simply to deny reality.
Bring kindness and consideration, rather than disappointment and hate. Love the video Man! Just subscribed well worth the watch thank you for your time!
The biggest thing is while he drew every day, they might claim they've been drawing for 3,5,7 years, but I bet 90% of them had a hard time to stick to drawing 1 thing every week. So that itself probably adds up to them actually drawing for 150-200 days when compared to Pewds. + rust factor comes in, coming back after a gap week probably takes you back a day or two in comparision to actually drawing every day.
I guarantee those haters refuse to be taught by professionals, use learning material, or even accept constructive criticism on their work. Practice doesn't make perfect. Practice makes permanent what you practice.
especially when you consider that just drawing anything any way isnt ultimatley beneficial. pewdipie used refrence from the start, was very observant in using it and in his first year of drawing already seeked out incredibly good ressources. many people draw but hardly use ref or use ref that is hard to dissect and that they dont understand

your words are so touching!❤️
Haiyahh…
The first dude literally said "gifted genetics" like pewds was genetically engineered in a lab to be good at drawing anime girls

Why are we gatekeeping art? Like why? Whats wrong if a rich guy wants to indulge in his creativity?
Because pewds proved that if you have the time then art is easy and anyone can do it. Which is not a bad thing but the art community for some weird reason feels humiliated.
That's what I'm wondering, can't people just do art because they want to anymore?

As an artist it's actually really encouraged me seeing him grow so fast. It caused me to call myself out on my procrastination and actually get to work on improving and learning.
Agreed, seeing pewds improve in a short time gave me a burning passion again for drawing
Now i know that eventually i might reach that level even if it were to take me time
Same but for me it was trying something new for drawing, drawing at a new angle for instance.
It will tell artists not to try.
i was wondering why people hated it, i saw the whole vid and was like "is there a catch? am i missing smth on why everyone hates him for this?" 😭

some people are just weird you know!
I agree
this, and also i use people's progress and success to motivate myself to keep improving my own art. i do not understand where the hostility is coming from
I'm absolutely inspired by him.

I think I know why Felix has been able to improve so much in so little time:
1- He knows what he wants to do and what to improve, or at least he realizes quickly what he has to improve based on what he feels he doesn't like from his drawings.
2- He is proactive and once figured out what he wants to draw or doesn't like in his drawings, he searches for the information related to said things
3- He compromises and even if its for a short period of time, he draws each day and forces him to keep said consistency
4- He consumes art, consumes media, therefore his eyes is trained to be able to quickly realize "I don't like this thing from my drawing = I should improve on this"
5- The only thing we can say its because "He is already famous", is the fact that he has overcome the demons of ego already, when he improves he feels good but doesn't let it get to his head and be over confident, he still sees the flaws, he still sees what is wonky.

As an starter artist im actually happy how pewdiepie learn that fast
I agree, fuck it time to force discipline myself to improve instead of motivation

They'd rather complain then improve
Exactly! 🎉 this is to show anyone who says they cant draw… can.😮
Also shows by taking time aside to focus on the skill makes one improve~ it works well with guidance. People forgot he did this did to have fun with art.
👏 stop being pessimistic and have fun! 🤩
Its always the easiest to use excuses. Getting good at anything requires practice , and many out there arnt willing to put in the work/time. So they hate.
Weaklings, thats what they are.
Exactly how I feel!
I'm just a beginner beginner artist, but PewDiePie's progress inspired me to start.
If I'm being honest, this really has inspired me to start drawing again, like yesss I can get back to where I was just gotta practice
It's just people missed that drawing =/= practicing drawing
Drawing is mostly staying in a comfort zone, while practicing is expanding or even breaking it.
Drawing is so fun, I hope you can get back into it ! Good luck !!

No artist discourages another artist's ability to create art from their beautiful or diverse mind. If one person's ability to draw makes you want to quit, you were NEVER an artist. You were a competitor.
I Agree with you!!...Being jealous is a natural thing and you can just improve you're drawings if you put an effort on it but being so jealous and quitting when someone is better at drawing than you that only draw in a year is childish
I had been jealous at many artist works before and I tried to make my art better slowly and surely but I would never quit doing what I love even if someone has a better skill than me doesn't mean I should quit entirely,

True! They just complain and complain didn't help them improve tho. Meanwhile pewdiepie still doing it even tho there are a lot of people that hate him. He didn't bother to explain again to people that doesn't accept his apology and continue criticise him, he just move on and still pursuing whatever he want
Being rich and famous doesnt manifest being automatically good at something what are these ppl talking about😭
There are 2 underlying problems:
1- They want to be the perfect artists from the beginning.
Working from home doesn't mean not working, and having money doesn't mean infinite free time from the everyday responsibilities.

currently going to art school for illustration, I always felt that drawing the same subject over and over again with no umderstanding of fundamentals makes progress a lot slower compared to learning a little bit of everything, drawing lots of different forms, not just people, and doing studies and still lifes.

Good for you :)
It’s so tiring to see people take long breaks because of art block and then complain about the pace they’re improving. No one should have to draw every day, but they should drop the expectation of learning as fast as those using a more dedicated and knowledge-based approach, rather than as a casual hobby.
Good luck on your art journey!
This is such a cool video, never heard of you but you make good vids. Keep up man!
@@airface-5402😢
Makes me want to sit down and write my comic
literally. if someone being "better" than you is all it takes for you to quit, then I don't think you had a sincere drive for what you were doing anyway. because there will always be someone "better" than you. and there are artists from history who are "better" than any of the artists today. following that logic of giving up, everyone might as well give up because there were already great artists. we have obviously already peaked. it's just so stupid.

Just because he has access to sketchbooks, pens, pencils, paints, markets, etc etc that would cost a normal person an arm and a leg , DOES NOT MEAN he will be automatically better at art. Cheap art supplies can make masterpieces just as much as expensive ones.

Lets be honest, most people crying about this saying "I gave my life to this" are lying to us and to themselves. No, you didn't.
A winner's mindset. There is always something new to learn.
Same here. Let's forking do this!
yeah, honestly seeing that he had a phase with a brush pen made me want to start learning on using a pen to really make decisive lines. never even thought of doing that. always the newcomers showing something new
def didn't inspire me and i feel like people who say it DID inspire them are just coping. it's fine to be jealous over someone in a vastly more privileged position than you.
as someone who has gone 10 years without drawing and is slowly re-learning, seeing this is pretty encouraging. Good on him!
It's so nice seeing you share your art here (you should do it more in vids!!), def checking out those books you recommended
thankyou so much!
@@MohammedAgbadiHope you have a nice day too, thank for the video.
These people need to pick up a hobby like pewdiepie did
@@BoxofCrowns1013 What has he done 8 years ago?
@@anon2752 indeed. And crazy how ideological this new generation has become. There's always someone being triggered over something. Them being overweight and sees someone attractive? Instead of working on their weight problems, they'd rather attack the attractive one verbally and then throw tantrums simply because the attractive person existed.
He's not talented because he's rich. He's rich because he's talented.
Spitting straight fire
People will rather insult than view that pewds was just a dude who sold hotdogs before he got into UA-cam
This needs to be at the top of the comments
Absolutely fire 🔥✍️
True
Hellow

Agree, his reaction videos become UA-cam staple and adopted by many new content creator, and yet I wish I could pull similar thing but I can't.

He actually legit got scared shitless. At least at the start

pewds was the sole reason i picked up a pen again despite not wanting to draw anymore. His progress really inspired me to try and draw again
@@BigChungus-zg6zwI also think this is it. Coming from programming I see a lot of people that stopped actively learning
The worst part is that that's exactly the point of the video. He describes and shows his setbacks when trying new techniques or switching to digital. He explais how frustrated he was when he stopped seeing rapid progress.
*It's almost like constant practice, studying your favorite artists, and dedication to trying to improve... helps you get better?!*
the people who complain about him are the ones who draw without actually learning so they make the same mistakes over and over so they don't get as much of a result or progress as much as they want over a certain period of time so when they see someone else who actually pursues it in a dedicated format and them getting more results in the same if not lesser time period than them, they get insecure and feel shitty about themselves so rather than shift focus and start learning and dedicate themselves more to their art they choose to rather shift the blame to others because it's easier to make it someone else's fault than face the mirror/truth.
yep, well put!
the saying "it takes 1000 drawings" doesn't just mean drawing mindlessly 1000 times.
Would you like to come over and play Gacha Life with me
I’m trying not to be envious about it and I am REALLY happy about him learning, but it sucks that my hands just don’t do what my brain wants it to when I draw, at least online art made it a little easier for me to
Honestly... This video has maybe finally helped inspire me to draw again. If he can do it, so can I
I'm in my early thirties now.
Imagination is the reason why art can be better, those who mocked Pewds just don't like being compared and hop in the bandwagon of hate.

a word of advice: practice humans first, and go hard at it. when you know how to draw humans good, you'll automatically be good at drawing furries.

If you stop on your 1~1.5 years skill just or not crying and learn how to get good or ignore other people and draw for yourself
Or just give up - give up is not bad, і gave up in making music but found myself in drawning and programming
Truth, after pewdiepie's improvement, the community just proved they're pussies and scared of hardwork
Thinking positively would be better than giving up at some minor discouragement

I guess we call all put this whole Pewdiepie case in just a few words: "Self-loathing, lack of self esteem and envy".
It's the most likely answer, on a very sad way, is just people putting a shield "it's not my lack of effort and discipline that is holding me back, it's X or Y reason, and they are cheating, etc..."

Hey guys… art teacher here.. honestly I’m proud of how much he has improved… if you feel discouraged by it, try not to… remember why you do art?
too many of them do it to make money, and they make it into a competition that ruins the experience for everyone else
We love art teachers
@hundeeschon
Well, I doubt that talent is the only factor, what's your thought process? do you experiment in perspective and form? Or are you simply just practicing the same lines over and over, and hopeing they look better?
I'm not just saying " don't give up!" I'm saying claiming talent as the main thing that enables a good artist is a poor philosophy.
And to be fair not improving in three months isn't the worst outcome I've been drawing for a long time and my art is still hardly amazing. still, I understand wanting to invest in other things you're good at as long as you don't regret your attempt at trying something new (you shouldnt)
0:27 brooo what’s got genetics to do with it?????

Twitter: Your post isn’t related to racism at all - but we’ll make it about it!
Ain't genetic supposed how your body look?
It's easier to be mad and make excuses. That's it.
They'll draw a sketch once a month and be mad that 24 sketches they did over 2 years don't look better than someone's day 80 drawing...
