As a nutritionist, I see this video in a far different light. I see a pet food industry that is panicked at the prospect of people making their own dog food and figuring out a way to cash in on it. DIY means Do It Yourself, not Buy It From Us.

Just a few mins into the video I see foods like Mac noodles. Rice, corn, and synthetic vitamins, which is total trash foods and supplements for ur dog on top of the cooking process that destroys vitamins. This food is a big pass for me!

I agree. AAFCO has extremely low standards, so this isn’t exactly saying much. If “Ol Roy” and “Gravy Train” meet AFFCO standards I would be a tad leery.

Hannah Sears Have you read the ingredients in Purina foods? Plenty of them contain artificial colors, sugar, corn syrup, and high fructose corn syrup. None of those are at all heathy for them whatsoever.

@@mercifulrabbit5175 You can't go by ingredient list, alone. Again, I'll go with Science, Board Certified Nutritionists and decades of research over someone's interpretation of ingredients. Also, not every Purina product contains those ingredients you mentioned.

What would be the difference between your sache and multi vitamin products for dogs? I have always fed my dogs raw food with some cooked pasta, rice, potatoes and vegetables and added multi vitamin suplements for dogs. Also they get eggs, olive oil, greek yogurth, turmeric, low sodium canned tuna as supplements regulary. So what makes this sache different, what type of ingredients does it have? They lost me at potato. Extensive research proved to me that potatoes are not good for dogs. Sweet potatoes are good but not regular. I came here looking for a healthy meal for my dogs especially the one who has perianal fistula and that is one of the main foods they say to avoid is potatoes. I'll stick with the other info that I've researched so far.
Although, I'll play Devil's Advocate, the title for the company does say 'veterinary developed' not holistic, raw or herbal. I love our regular vet but even he has admitted that he doesn't really know anything about herbal healing for pets. It's just not their forte'.

Your goal would be met even more if you provided the recipe including the amount and types of added nutrients as opposed to adding your 'nutrient blend'. Some people would still buy your blend for convenience, just like they buy seasoning blends in the store.
Helping people to have the ability to further self reliance would make you a more trusted company. When I see 'proprietary blend' on any label, it automatically creates distrust for me. I don't see that as an attempt to help people, I see that as an attempt to make money and I see fear that your customer might come more educated than you like.

Wolves have different dietary needs than dogs. And through the thousands of years of evolving with humans, dogs have become omnivorous and can digest many of the same enzymes as humans. This is because for most of dog history they simple ate the extra food off of human plates.

If you find your dogs end up getting skin issues from this food take them off it for a few weeks. Our dogs developed major yeast issues and had hair on their face fall out. Waaaay too much sweet potato in the beef recipe. Also, the issue with not making food yourself is that you can't control that actual quality of the beef. I was never able to get certainty from the Just Food for Dogs people regarding hormones etc in the food. Certainly the veggies are not organic so pesticides are also an influence.

Since I started cooking for her she is like a new puppy. She's 8. I have her on a very low fat diet and she hasn't had one bout of IBD. She is happy and so am I. Also, eliminate some protein for senior dogs because their kidneys can't process high protein. I make a similiar food for my senior dogs but with less protein, substitute potato for sweet potato and add Taurine supplementation. And I add a bit of dog vitamins. They love it.

I’m all about learning and improving. I’m not so stubborn that I can’t take advice. But at the same time I’m not one to be played for a fool. Dogs have been around for thousands of years. The Commercial Dog Food Industry has been around only for a couple of hundred years. More like 160 years to be exact. Where as dogs have been around for over 14,000 years. But since many companies make a profit off of selling people rotten, decayed, and 🦠 diseased meat 🍖 🥩 mixed with all types of chemicals and byproducts and call it dog food. Now the general public no longer knows how to make food to feed dogs? People have been feeding dogs food for thousands of years from their kitchen leftovers and have dogs managed to survive just fine. Truth is...what they’re not saying is that the food that they feed us is garbage to begin with. The American diet is loaded with all types of sugars , salts , fats, and processed additives. Before the commercial food industry was so big the average person didn’t eat that way. So of course when you feed a garbage modern diet to dogs it makes them just as sick as us. This is how dogs now get diabetes when at one point that was unheard of. “Garbage in, garbage out”. It starts with a human eating a healthy whole food diet to begin with in order properly feed a dog healthy food . How can a person know what’s healthy for their dog when they don’t even know whats healthy for themselves?

Wow so $18.00 on top of buying the food just for 30lbs. of food. I have a Siberian Husky and a Bullboxer that would cost me and arm and a leg to feed them. I fix them a 50 dry/ 50 wet homemade and they are completely healthy. They get plenty of calcium from the egg shell powder we make and add to to their homemade. These people are just trying to make a fortune off of us that have decided its cheaper, healthier, and better to make our own. After all what did dogs eat in the wild before manufactured dog food? Yeah that's right they ate Natural Organic food in the wild that wasn't contaminated by pesticides and GMO'S.

there are many natural reciepies that are good and are aafco approvable. to say this is the ONLY ONE is not right. but yes, dog food is not right being made by companies today. can also lead to pesticides being found in it today. dog food is OUTRAGIOUS and as high cost as even natural food is today for humans or pets, might as well cook yourself with high ingrediants and can basically almost feed the whole family. lol might be ok if tiny dog, but would cost a bundle if large one. can almost fix same meals for human family, and just make alittle more for big dogs. love it, just many can not afford to feed family and pay diff price high for big dog like this.

Sadly the difference between a wolf's diet and a dogs is source. Plants that grow wild get all the nutrients they need because they grow where the nutrients are. Animals eat those plants and are in turn eaten and everyone has what they need. Cultivated plants from the store and livestock don't get that benefit hence it isn't as nutritious (This is a general statement and there are exceptions but its hard to know for sure which is which). Unless I grow or raise it myself any being on my farm gets supplements with the food. I'm sure Dr. Chavez as a nutritionist knows this and includes the supplements because she has less control of the source than you do.

ok so this is an old video and I sure hope this product is no longer available. Dogs cannot digest grains AT ALL. The sugars in grains ( I saw pasta in this video! ack!!!!) simply makes a dog obese and has the potential to cause a myriad of serious health problems. Dogs require at least 5 different meat sources of complete WHOLE animals (bones hair skin organs etc. Dogs cannot digest vegetables like we humans can. Vegies need to be partially digested already for dog to be able to process them. In other words fermented. And before someone says oh another negative person... I am a certified dog food specialist. ABSOLUTELY IN NO WAY IS THIS DIET GOOD FOR YOUR DOG. You might as well give him McDonalds every day.

Glad to read on that you are certified as a dog food specialist. I agree with your writing. So, what do you recommend now that we
nixed the food in this video? Do you have a website with some recipes? I make bone broth, chicken or beef. Then to get my fussy
eater to have some greens using about one ounce of a green veggie, sometimes a carrot I puree about an ounce in one cup of the
broth. I then moisten any meat mixture that I've lightly cooked with the broth. This works. What about eggs in a dogs diet?
