I like how you were selling your product but still gave a list of substitutes you could pick up at the store. Shows you actually care about the health of animals and not just about making a sell 👌
Thank you I really appreciate the video!
Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate it.
I went to a vet a couple of days back. He asked me what my dog eats - and I told him BARF. His reply was that this raises risk of kidney issues and tried to promote me some terrible Hills food with 6% chicken meal and just grains :D Will never visit this vet again.
Haha, that's crazy. He couldn't be more wrong!
Hills what exactly?
Same thing happened to me. Maddening …
It's so sad that so many vets get indoctrinated by these big pet food companies. Hills posted a video recently with abhorrent information on how to judge the quality of a dog's diet and the woman speaking was the head of the veterinarian nutritional education task force or whatever to teach these vets these bad behaviors. It puts them at odds with fresh producers and those seeking to educate like the gentleman above and myself - and it puts confused pet parents in the middle unsure of who to trust. I say neither -- take all the information available and think for yourself! You are their advocate!
@@thedognutritionist I recently came across your channel and I've watched many of your videos already. I truly believe in your knowledge.
Do you have any food recipes for small dogs with pancreatitis?
Thank you for sharing this Cam - trying this tonight 🎉
Hi Cam… Yay! I get so excited when you post recipes on YT and IG!
More to come!
Fantastic video. Bummed that you no longer include the recipe in the description.
I might be persuaded to buy the e-book if I knew whether or not it included basic nutrition profiles for each recipe as well as feeding guidelines g/kg of dog weight.
Love the video would help me if there was some advice on portion weight and costs per portion. TY
Hi Cam, am so happy, yesterday I received your multi vitamins! This new recipe comes just in time, later will prepare it, can't wait to use your supplement. Love and light from Italy.
Love it!
I JUST TOSS THE WHOLE EGG IN THE BLENDER.. WORKS GREAT. 😊 Our German Shepard has always had homemade food. She loves it.
Sounds great!
Made my first batch of dog food today thanks to your videos 😀
It’s something I’ve never done before as not been confident enough but your videos and recipe book have made it a lot less daunting- thank you !
Anybody know where I can learn the basic of home cooking for my dogs?
Hi! You might want to visit our website for the Ultimate Homemade Dog & Puppy Food Recipe Book. Here's the link: www.thedognutritionist.com/
Thank You for this video! How do you determine how much to feed your dog based on their weight? My one dog is 43lbs, and my other dog is about 17lbs. How do you also determine how much of a percentage of meat vs veggies to use? Thank You 👏
Hi could you do a video for puppy food , I’ve started him on raw 80 10 10, he is 10 weeks old border collie , I’m finding it hard to get my head around on what is best for him thanks
Hello, how do I determine the portion size of this recipe for my dog? she weighs ~28 kgs.
Can we have more videos like this???????
I did not find the link to your multi- vitamin. Please provide . Loved the video.

How do I get the multivitamin supplement?
Also hemp hearts have omega 3s
My husband and I are bringing home a puppy in a couple of weeks and have come across your channel. We've learned a lot about the benefits of fresh food and have been watching all of your recipe videos!! In all of the recipe videos you bake or boil the muscle meat and organ meat -- are these recipes specifically cooked meals? For a raw diet would you just skip the baking/boiling step?
Hey there, we have complete raw meals. Check the recipes here: www.thedognutritionist.com/products/the-ultimate-homemade-dog-and-puppy-food-recipe-book
I’ve been enjoying watching your videos as I’m looking to start making homemade food my dog. She has Chronic Colitis so have to watch what she eats. She can’t have chicken, could I use duck instead as I know it’s ok for her ?
Thank you for watching the videos! How's she doing now? You will need to test which meats work for your dog, it's a process of discovering what works for your dog's unique digestive system. Great recipe. Never thought about using the egg shells before, so I will be grinding those up now. I was wondering if a little salt should be added to homemade dog food since I am using all fresh ingredients with no additives?
there may be salt naturally in your meat source. i looked at my ground turkey & although none was added it said it has sodium when i looked in the nutritional? so i guess it’s natural? maybe research if you didn’t get a better answer good luck
Hey, Melissa. You're right. Natural foods have enough sodium, so skip the table salt in homemade dog food. However a little added salt occasionally is perfectly healthy for a dog.
@@thedognutritionist I omit the salt but add turmeric a bit of pepper, and my homemade garlic powder. Plus, if I want the food a bit wetter I add my homemade all kinds of bones bone broth.
I hope this question isn't stupid. How do I know what my dog is or isn't allergic to? Should I introduce each new food one at a time? So far she has eaten chicken and beef kibble without issue so I know those are safe but how should I introduce eggs and different other ingredients?
Also, i gave my dog some raw beef from a short round cut. The next day her poop looked like regular poop with red raw looking beef wrapped around the regular stool. Is that supposed to happen? What should the bowel movement look like when feeding non-kibble?
Can you just put everything in a grinder, rather than shred, steam and bake everything?
I usually use baby food for veggies and carbs (like pure carrot, pure squash) because my dog usually eats around the veggie pieces. Is that okay?
Hi. I'm following your guide but I have a question. You consider the weight of the raw meet but after cooking they loose around 30-40% of their weight as they release water, then the final weight and the ratios will be different. I started to consider the weight of the cooked meat but still not sure if I'm right.
It's only water that's lost. So you can replenish by adding water to the meals.
Eggs are good but low in phosphorous. Better to use bone meal powder or a calcium phosphorous powder supplement. Also instead of your supplement use seaweed kelp powder, omega 3 and 6 salmon oil, ground ginger.
Do not get your self stress out regarding the phosphorus calcium ratio. It's been way over complicated. A good supply of meat and regular raw edible bones, that's all the stress needed on the topic.
Just a question about vitamin A, can dogs get too much of it? Liver, carrots and winter squash are all very high in A, so do they get this much every day, or does it not matter? Thanks.
No unless you way overdo the liver. Which you won't because you've watched my video on how much to use :-)
Hi the raw bone is broken up n put in the meal? Or on the side snd eat after or before? Thank you
I give raw bones whole, and as a treat a few times per week
Hi Cam, can you help me with a low protein, low purine diet. My dog just had surgery to remove cystine stones and my vet recommended Royal Canin. I am desperate to get him on a home cooked or raw diet. I’ve done a lot of research this week. No organ meats, or high protein meat. Thank you very much.
Hey doesn't need low protein or low purine, he needs very high moisture and medium protein. I would suggest the urinary support plan on my website, I've worked with many dogs with the same issue. No recurring problems yet!
Can you feed chicken on its own?
Does he have anything recent?
i cooked my first meal for my 4 month old:) from your book and some from this video. I still had to put it on top of kibble (which she doesn’t like but now i tricked her and feel
so bad) as i’m transitioning her:) let’s see how it goes; i need to buy some hearts 🥺🤢she loved it btw THANK YOU
Sounds great! How has her transition been going?
i kinda don't understand proportion: 60%meat + 10%liver + 20%carbs + 10% veggies + 5% fruits in summary will be 105%... or 100% is not weight of complete meal?
I want to cook home cooked meals for my chihahua but the cost of living is hurting my pocket but then again it's me and my dog i have to feed ud have to cook bulk meals for him the best thing is he loves his fruit and vegetables chicken and turkey i haven't tried liver as yet but I will before rhw cost of living went up i was cooking him home cooked meals
Actually, homemade meals (the TDN method) can save you money in the long run compared to dog food. Your Chihuahua will adore the nutritious, homemade food. Best of luck with your cooking!
Can you feed this raw and not cook it ?
Is it improper to add about a cup of carbs? I usually use white rice or brown rice. Occasionally potatoes.
This is a topic heavily debated among nutritionists. As dogs have been by our sides for 50,000 years they are not wolves, but they are obligate carnivores. Genetically this means their DNA is encoded based upon consuming a mostly meat diet, therefore it is safe to assume they will live most optimally on a mostly meat diet. However, grains can provide good sources of vitamins and minerals and glucose does play an important role in cognitive function and brain health. Size of the dog can also be considered as smaller dogs have less time to break down protein than larger dogs and generally have a higher metabolism, you could say small dogs will adapt to a higher grain diet better than large. Overall, IMO, grains can be used, and should be in healthy adult diets, but kept to a minimal inclusion. Aim for keeping meat above 60-80% of the diet by weight.
Thank you so much for the lengthy and informative response! It gives me peace of mind. I'm glad I'm doing it right!

Use backwheat.but cooking time as twice as long .cheers
Do you use any greens such as kale all you use is zucchini. My dog loves greens
Question: Can cooking the meat on aluminum foil cause aluminum to leach into the food? and if so is that bad?
Use a silicone mat if you're worried, it doesn't hurt to err on the side of caution
what about the aluminum in the dog food feom using foil. i wont even use foil in our food. Its better to use a glass bowl for cooking
I use unbleached parchment, myself. Agree... no aluminum.
Very nice. Did you let the food cool down before giving it to the dog?
Absolutely, safety first!
Instead of cooking things separately, could all the ingredients be put in a slow cooker together and cooked on low?
Yes, absolutely
Brilliant, thank you 😊
How long is it good in the freezer?
A year!
I've seen everywhere that you should never ever give your dogs cooked bones; that they have to be either raw or powdered. The thing is I have a huge fear of bacteria in raw meats and I've read that eggshells aren't the best option either, so I wonder... is the problem with cooked bones just if you feed them whole? or would it be a problem if I fed my dogs with bones that have been grinded into very very small pieces and then cooked? I'm honestly concerned but I can't find any information about this, only the warning that I should never give them cooked bone.
Where is the ingredient list with proper amounts? It is not on the link you provided.

How much should we feed our dogs of this recipe (for a 50 pound dog, for example)?
I've made a video on that, please check my channel, it's all there!

That!
My 4lb Yorkie seems to be allergic to beef and chicken. I have tried so many recipes, but she still gets sick, sometimes severely. I'm at a loss as to what to feed her. She is a 4 year old rescue, so I don't know her history
Hi Linda, you really need to get the digestion plan on my website. That will help you identify a diet that works for her.
I made this recipe and my dog vomited the following morning, however his stool was normal. No other new foods given. In your experience , Any guess what the more obvious culprits could be? I Used chicken thigh, chicken heart, carrot, zuchinni, fresh blueberries/blackberries, squash, crushed eggshells & sunflower seeds & a touch of cilantro for flavor. Also gave a small serving with jus normal kibble.
I’ve been researching and isn’t raw meat better than cooked?
It definitely can be. Some meat which is low quality is better when it's cooked. Many people, particularly those in the US, don't have access to this, so I do cooked recipes too.
How to achieve variety for my dog with IBD? He can only eat pork and carrots. The list of intolerances grew huge over the last 4 years.
So where is the recipe after clicking on "get full recipe"? I am not spending $35 on a book, I can use that money to purchase the ingredients.
Hey, the e-book is currently available at a discounted price. You may check it here: www.thedognutritionist.com/products/the-ultimate-homemade-dog-and-puppy-food-recipe-book
I would think that this recipe would be free then you could try it out and get the ebook or Book if you liked it. Bummer. 🐾 ❤️

It's important that you use balanced recipes, and get the quantity of food you give your food right. That's how I do it over recommending calories. I have started feeding my dog raw but I am so confused I think I am going to go back to kibble.
Check out my recipe ebook book and guide, it makes it all very clear. Raw fresh food will work to keep your dog out of the vets, I promise. Try to stick with it.
It doesn’t have to be too complicated. Think about your own plate if you ate meat veggies and fruit only. Only more meat then you’d think they would need.
@@halabaloux Thanks for your input. I am still feeding raw as I really want to give him the bast I can. If you have a pet that you feed raw did you tell your vet as I have heard that some vets refuse to see dogs fed on raw.
@@thedognutritionist Thanks Cam. I am still feeding him raw as I want him to have the best I can give him. I looked at your guide and will buy the recipe book to check out what I am doing. Still nervous but will carry on.
@@Muffin916 when I first got him as a puppy I told my vet that I planned on doing so since my cats were already eating raw. The vet told me to wait until after the first year. I honestly didn’t think I would just because I don’t like kibble. I had to put down a senior cat I had since a kitten because of food related illness. I had told myself I wouldn’t let that happen again if I could help it.
Anyways, I did keep him on the kibble that his fosters fed him while I was researching dog ratios, but it got to the point where he started refusing to eat the kibble cause he liked what the cats ate better. So I made the switch well before his first year.
Just checking - Do you add Sprouts, microgreens too?
Occasionally add sprouts, my supplement contains Organic Spirulina!

Cows don't have a 'balanced' diet, monkeys don't, also: wolves, elephants, zebra, unicorns, and many other animals do not eat a balance diet. They eat a species appropriate species specific diet. The only balance in a carnivore's diet would be a proper fat to meat ratio. wolves, dingoes, jackals, coyotes, foxes, and domestic dogs are of the family Carnivora. They eat a meat diet, they are carnivores. I will feed my dog the proper food : Meat and it's associated fat and accompanying byproducts such as some non weight baring bones, cartilage, organs, some eggs, etc Thank you for the video.
Monogastric animals like chicken are terrible for dogs. Feed your dog meat from ruminants
Allergy has chicken name
This advice is the total opposite of what my vet said. He told me to feed my dog the exact same thing everyday with no variation whatsoever to help his stomach sensitivity.
Ur vet needs sick animal to pay his bills
I’d get Pumpkin added in to his food. Or get a quality pumpkin & high in pre /probiotics for him. Should help him. Vets have affiliations with big kibble companies & get reduced drugs, for promoting the kibble to clients. It’s sad but most vets have v little dietary studies in degree courses. Many dislike homeopathic remedy’s or natural diets. In my years of experience, it’s the most important thing for maintaining & preventive health in dogs. 🙏🏼
