"That sort of thing"
As if anything remotely similar to this existed previously
😂
i like how he is so casual about this like "yeah you just do this *plays godly stupid tapping riff* its pretty easy ya know".
Its 3 notes lol
Lol
I was thinking the same thing.
"Yeah, so to do a heart transplant and simultaneously pilot the Space Shuttle, you just kind of do this thing here, and then sort of change these things here like this, and then this just happens right here, and then you're done!" Love this guy.
"You can do...
*puts on shades*
...a multitude of things"
YYYYEEEEEAAAHHHH!!!!!!
Wicked
First tapping part is from Isolated Incidents
That's what I was thinking. Took me a while to figure out what the hell it was from but now I got it. Thank you!
I love how chill he is about this stuff. "Yeah, so here's this thing I'm doing." Followed by an onslaught of notes.
best guitarist in the world I swear to god
check out josh martin
g0atBallz420 Josh Martin is the man! He's like the indie version of Tosin hahahah
They should do a colab.
***** Yikes....
Buckethead!!!!!
You spelled Wes Borland wrong
i appreciate how he actually is playing this with a clean tone and not a ton of distortion and reverb like most shredding-type guitarists always do.
This guy inspired me to buy an 8-string without even learning the 7-string lol. And it's actually going pretty good.
I hate my 7 string, it’s an ESP and I’ve never liked the tone from it. Thinking of selling it and getting a Strandberg 8 string
@@jeffinspace7668 You could always get new pick ups
@@jeffinspace7668if u want an 8 string tone u need an 8 string, 7s are designed for 7 string tone and tunings
The look on his face at the end was like, damn I'm good at this shit.
He actually uses this tapping lick in "Isolated Incidents" off of AAL's brand new album "Weightless". It's also followed by one of the best breakdown-type things i have ever heard. What an amazing band.
YESSSS I was trying to remember what song this was and you nailed it for me thanks! Lol that part in isolated incidents really is an isolated incident…of perfection haha
Going to see AaL this Sunday in Tucson, then spend all of next week at home, staring at my guitars, apologizing to them.....
Animals as leaders have inspired me up to a higher plain of existence. Thx a lot.
I love how easy it looks, but when you go to play it, you realize it's the most complicated thing you tried to learn EVER!
He brings out a whole new tone to those EMG pickups. Also, a KNITTED tie?! What a badass.
I didn't realize about the knitted tie, it is indeed a knitted tie and he is indeed a badass
Playing the guitar for this guy is like breathing for you and I, he just does it.
man, when he said he's gonna play it up to speed now, i was like wtf!?! that wasn't the regular speed!
Altogether its something out of this world. Explained in each of its parts, it's concept is fairly simple and direct. Guitar is a magical instrument in that way.
This is the future of music. Right. Here!
This guy is amazing. I've never seen anyone play a guitar like this before. Wow amazing.
thanks so much for this lesson man! guthrie, misha and now tosin, you only pick the best ones!!
such a great musician, and so humble
Low string tapping is so badass sounding. I love bass tapping.
I totally love this guy.
Love it. Classical guitarist that has become a legendary metal/progressive guitarist, who looks always dresses like he shops at Context.
Brilliant man. Thank you for sharing your gift.
Tosin! Teach us something in a range we understand!
he's my favorite guitarist ever
cool tapping lick , you can learn alot from from tosin , every lesson is something learned
i can't even count 7/4 whilst he's playing that
You don't have to count it necessarily ,only if you are playing it slowly .After practising that you basically get more of a feel for the rythm .I hope I didn't ruin the joke .
It's actually 13/4, counted in groups of 7 and 6, in that order and accented as such.
i consider myself a musician. play drums,,, did my time in highschool band. but i swear i can't figure out a lot of what he's playing. so much talent at such a young age. tosin is going places.
Great channel Guitar Messenger!
Tosin is my hero.
this is the guitar messiah we've been waiting for.
Why is he so awesome
this is gold!
Tosin is the best
this guy is king, fucking love him. even though not trying to at all he is the most metal guy around
dude i cant wait for the next album OHHHHH MY GODDDD
This guy is incredable
This was incredibly helpful, now I can sorta play that CAFO tapping lick, I just need more time with it.
Best guitarist ever.
Love the Isolated Incidents tapping riff.
The tapping lick was used in "Isolated Incidents" off of Weightless.
@notabear1 Alot of youtube guitarists don't do that because some have never really taken in depth theory classes. I mean you can take Music Theory 1 and learn Augmented chords. Major and Minor 3rds The circle of fifths, pretty much the bassis of it all. This guy went the the Atlanta Institute of Music for four years and became a master...
Anyone can know what Tosin knows... ANYONE, it's just applying the way he does, thats absolutely mind blowing.
this guy got so much style :) also he is very congenial!
I met this dude on Sunday. He was cool.
Notice how at 4:57 he was like "you know you can do...a multitude of things" *smiles*. You KNOW that he was thinking "...well I can do a multitude of things with it, don't know about you" lol.
Yes I can do a multitude of things....on my mind only, not on my guitar Tosin. Thanks for that!
Without a doubt technically outstanding; so, and now I'd like to see this applied in a VERY CONSTRUCTIVE way for expressing intensive emotions... so basically for real music...
same. he approaches (on weightlessness) guitar in such a rhythmic, percussive manner. to me it feels like bass. i've been playing guitar for like 8 years and ever since i started to TRY to emulate his technique, i've found myself trying to play more of bass state of mind sometimes even drums (not a kit)
This man......is a god.....
Tosin Abasi is GREAT!!! :D
Sooooooo excited for new AAL album. I'll keep myself busy with TRAM for a while though ;)
@Guitareben so true!
Yes indeed!
@HorizonGeetar93 but theres also the shredding, the fingerpicking, the huge multi-octave sweeps, the weird slap-not-quite-slap thing, but yeah i guess theres alot of tapping too
it is so awesome I'm going to see them with deftones!! that is awesome love both guy!!! xD
I love his playing style. I wanna see him play the chapman stick!
Cool thanks!!!
@liromann1 It's 'Isolated Incidents' from their 2nd album 'Weightless' :)
@ctbguitar Made me laugh out loud. Thumbs up for you!
you can do.... *smiles- a multitude of things...
@ma3andeesh1 it's called Tempting Time...it's the first track on Animals As Leaders album. ;)
Salute you tosin
After they played their new song live, i'm surprised this video didn't already hit the 1.000.000 views?!
Such a beast. Ugh.
Amazing! I would love to see the intro to this though!
:)
@cookiemasher i'm surprised no one mentioned that in the comment section of the new song. i recognized the tapping riff immediately when i heard that part of Isolated Incidents.
my mind has been blown... twice
I feel like this guy could be a sick drummer as well. Such good rhythm.
Amazing! His playing style is VERY similar to the guitar player from Psyopus, Chris Arp!
Sure, I do too, I like to get a good mix of stuff
You're not alone :)
as with everything practice practice practice and more practice. goodluck. it's not impossible
@poopsinhispans yeah, i see what you mean, like he's one of those "hybrid style" kind of players and people wont fall in love with that playing instantly, and its a thing like some people will like him, and some wont. imo he's becoming one of my favorites, but i'll still go to loomis for his solo work haha
@midihc He was only a touring guitarist with them for a tour.
@matthewtop yes.
Tempting Time by Animals As Leaders
Tempting Time by Animals as Leaders
hell yeah!!!
the first riff (Tapping) you can find it around min 1.50 of "Isolated Incidenst" song :-)
@winchy32 It could just be a bar of 7/8 and then one of 9/8. Yeah that'd add up to 4/4, but it includes 7/8 all the same, and perhaps he's comfortable counting with that bar. Doesn't make him mistaken.
this tapping riff is in AAL's new song they've started performing live. look it up it's nuts!
Tosin, The Bruxo!
@asharp12 Scale The Summit is awesome dude
just in an entirely different way
@Joziaac Plus john petrucci is an amzing guitar player.
I got to hug tosin backstage. life = made
@peledinho10 nah, he's too awesome already
If I was Sylar from Hero's, my first goal would be to take Tosin Abasi's power of legendary guitar playing
@mynameisrenegoupil He is graced with incredibly long fingers man.
Woah!! This is the lick from Isolated Incidents....That song was probably written so long ago. Maybe he has his next album in his head also....and the 267 albums after that
@hardhatarea nonsense it makes perfect sense he even explained what keys he was playing in..so idk what you're trying to say here.
@AntrexBF3 look forward to this T.R.A.M. album coming out in February then ;)
IMO beyond
Hahaha I like how everyone else who did a masterclass played a super complicated riff in their intro, and Tosin just went "brrrring!"
He had me at hey welcome
Nice
Not only is he a master of guitar, he's also a master of the English language
@cookiemasher aww, lucky!! i saw them early this year, but that was before i was a big fan and i didnt know many of their songs, so i might have heard the new song back then but i wouldn't have known it XP
