I went to the ER once because I had steel slivers in my eye that had been there for three days. I thought I had just scratched my cornea with sparks flying off of the grinder (I was wearing glasses instead of goggles), but when I tried going to work the following Monday my boss took one look at me and told me that I needed to go to the hospital immediately. As a result of the intense pain every time I opened or closed my eye, I didn't sleep for three days. I got to the ER, waited in line to check in, and sat down for almost 10 seconds before they called me back. As it turns out, leaving steel slivers in your eye is a great way to lose your eye. The nurse had to hold me steady as they walked me out of the waiting room and some asshole with an ice pack on her elbow said, "Why does he get to skip the line? I've been waiting for hours!" That nurse shot her a look of such pure, unfiltered hatred that she immediately shut up. It was beautiful. Emergency apparently means that you absolutely can't wait. Who knew? It took them almost an hour to get all the slivers out and I got my full vision back a couple days later.

Can I just say? I have trauma due to repeated and prolonged abuse by my mother. I have nightmares that she's still alive. Anytime someone raises their voice or touches me in a wrong way, I shut down. I have so many flashbacks that I can end up ruining a good time just because someone said one word that sets me off. My father, who is retired military, was traumatized by some very realistic and brutal training he had to go through. He watched a man be waterboarded. From what he's told me about it, the effects lasted for weeks on end. Nightmares, flashbacks, hallucinations. He was in a car, driving home one day and though that there were enemy soldiers hiding around him. Thankfully, he is much better now. I can't speak to the experience of all women. But, personally, the shit my father went through during those three to four weeks sounds a whole hell of a lot worse than what I experience due to the emotional, mental, verbal, and sexual abuse that my mother put me through. Military mental health matters.

I grew up a military child and when my dad retired I had personally gone to multiple different countries and my dad had flown around the world three times. Once out I was put into a middle school and labeled a lying weeb for saying I grew up in Okinawa Japan. The hate military children get is insane and feel like this belongs here.

There’s nothing more stressful than living a life that you don’t want to live. To the smoking comment, I totally agree. My parents have smoked all my life and still do, but I wasn't bothered by it for years. In fact, I picked up the habit at 14 after I started sneaking some out of the house, by the time it was discovered, I was already addicted. I stayed smoking for years, quitting when I got pregnant but picking it up again quickly after giving birth, but kept it outside. I stunk, my breath stunk and tasted so bad, even after I would brush my teeth, froze my butt off outside even though I didn't want to go out there, still needed that cigarette. I'm still addicted to nicotine, but replaced cigarettes with an e cigarette. I'd love to one day out that down as well. But I don't stink anymore, I feel better, and I now can't stand the taste or smell of cigarettes. But my parents still smoke, my dad denies that his constant coughing is because of smoking and he acts irritated when you tell him that it is and he denies that second hand smoke is a thing. My mom knows they both need to quit and has talked about quitting but she still does it and probably because she's extremely stressed out all the time. Cigarettes are horrible, and I can only hope my children don't ever try to pick it up, or any other tobacco product. Addiction sucks.

12:52 this hits me hard because when I was like 8 I was playing tag at my sisters wedding (the floors there where concrete btw) I tripped and had a girl who was atleast 6 fall ontop of me at, and because of the weight of the girl who fell ontop of me my weight ended up going onto one of my knees and I wasn't able to walk and had to go to the ER after the wedding. So I was wheeled into the ER waiting room in a wheel chair and I see this girl and who I was assuming was her boyfriend , the girl was crying and I felt genuinely bad for her I was, I have no idea what was going on with her and as the sentimental child I was, I also was about to cry because I felt bad for her. Anyways so a nurse called me in and keep in mind the couple I presume was still waiting, the girl said to her boyfriend "Why does she get to go in, I was here first." and then her boyfriend replied "She's in a wheelchair", I felt once again bad for her because since I didnt need to walk I could've just waited a while longer and she could've gotten the care she needed. This post reminded me of this situation, and know I still feel bad because I know what's it like to be frustrated and say stuff that you dont really mean. And who knows maybe she was in some serious pain, I'm assuming something was wrong with her neck cause she was holding it. I ended up just badly bruising alot of mussel and tissue and had to wear a brace for about 1 week. Tbh, I don't mind if a woman asks me that. As long as they don't mind me asking my own questions too. The way I see it is if they don't like me for my height that's fair since I too might not like them for certain traits they have. While looks aren't everything, they are important in a relationship since you want to be attracted to your partner. That being said, you should also like a person for their personality too because physical attraction won't matter if you can't stand to be around your partner and talk to them due to a dislike of their personality traits.
I had my arm broken and they had 12 patients with similar and more severe injuries there, some that were there before me, and I’m talking public health care here in Europe, literally took them less then half an hour to take a pic of my broken arm and maybe about 10 minutes waiting for an available doctor to put a cast on my arm

I practically NEVER heard about women having PTSD until I got older and starting figuring things out myself, as a child I would only ever hear it when people were talking about veterans so for the longest time I thought only people who fought it wars could have PTSD, and everyone else was just being dramatic. I get the reply’s point, but the fact that no one ever talks about sexual assault & rape survivors having PTSD is a serious issue and is something that should be addressed.

That hospital one kills me tho. Because they say they go in order of importance, but I literally had a 16 week old baby falling out of me and had to wait bleeding and crying in the waiting room for about an hour. When I asked why, they told me that it was probably too late to save the baby so they didnt prioritize me. Yes, I have brought a law suit against the hospital

Whenever I come to “r/MurderedbyWords”, I’m awestruck by some of the amazing things that people can say. Every moron who said the black hole image was shite, deserved every lecture they received. This...What I’m about to say sounds incredibly stupid, however I find myself looking at these posts of word murder (the lectures) as a jumping off point for education. I hadn’t realized how bad it was for gals when it came to the debate regarding makeup. Almost all of the women in my life were comfortable with themselves and used makeup to accentuate their beauty, or would find ways to overcome troubles they had. Most of the girls I knew growing up, were similarly minded. For this reason, I didn’t realize just how intense the debate could get and now I’m definitely intrigued by the lecture on stances regarding beauty products. Similarly, I grew up around people who appreciated science and respected religious differences as best they could. When I saw the black hole image, I was fairly confused at first because I hadn’t realized what it was. As soon as my brother explained it, there was a whole new wave of emotions, knowing that mankind made an enormous step forward. In an almost opposite direction, I’ve also begun to re-learn about the different sects of Satanism like I’d been doing in high school after my aunt became friends with a practitioner of Luciferianism. Until today, I didn’t even realize that there were issues regarding these topics. While it saddens me to know that things aren’t as great as they feel at times, word murder helps me learn about the world as well as helps me find myself happier with the life I was dealt. Due to my ADHD and budding psychosis, I find myself at a loss for pertinent questions and have a high probability for being unawares. It’s why I spend time talking online with folks, as it helps me learn their struggles, giving me places to expand my horizons in terms of awareness. This helps me become more informed as well as reinforces how lucky I am in life. Lol I had an allergic reaction to my tetanus shot. (I now have moderate PTSD because the nurse who injected me held me down to give it to me and I already had another PTSD experience before that where 5 adults held me down and drilled into my teeth without proper sedation.) My arm's capillaries turned purple and my arm turned pink, then I couldn't feel or move my arm for about 30 minutes. I'm so happy something worse didn't happen. A substance that by body thought was toxic was injected into my bloodstream, I cant imagine if my reaction was more severe and reached my brain. I'm not an anti-vaccination person, shots r important. I just dont think I can ever get near one again. I had a pretty severe episode just by seeing someone on TV get a shot. (I fell onto the floor and protected my arm in absolute fear and braced, my friend was very confused lol)

Once when I had my gf over, her coat reaked of smoke so badly, my sister had to take it out of the closet because the fumes were affecting her fiancé that badly.
I can relate as well with the exception of lung cancer thank God! I hate cigarettes with a passion! My mom smoked from 1990 up until she quitted 2016. She only quit because of a health scare. Doing drugs are never cool. It can bite you in the butt one day.
My dad was a chainsmoker for most of my childhood. Everything in the house smelled like it was burned to the ground, you could see an actual cloud of smoke when you came into my house and my dad would send my 10yr old ass to get him cigarettes (back then the sellers didn't ask any questions since in my country almost everyone was smoking). Of course I leant that smoking is ok and I took it up when i was 20. The stupidest decision of my life! Can I just say? I have trauma due to repeated and prolonged abuse by my mother. I have nightmares that she's still alive. Anytime someone raises their voice or touches me in a wrong way, I shut down. I have so many flashbacks that I can end up ruining a good time just because someone said one word that sets me off. My father, who is retired military, was traumatized by some very realistic and brutal training he had to go through. He watched a man be waterboarded. From what he's told me about it, the effects lasted for weeks on end. Nightmares, flashbacks, hallucinations. He was in a car, driving home one day and though that there were enemy soldiers hiding around him. Thankfully, he is much better now. I can't speak to the experience of all women. But, personally, the shit my father went through during those three to four weeks sounds a whole hell of a lot worse than what I experience due to the emotional, mental, verbal, and sexual abuse that my mother put me through. Military mental health matters.

To the smoking comment, I totally agree. My parents have smoked all my life and still do, but I wasn't bothered by it for years. In fact, I picked up the habit at 14 after I started sneaking some out of the house, by the time it was discovered, I was already addicted. I stayed smoking for years, quitting when I got pregnant but picking it up again quickly after giving birth, but kept it outside. I stunk, my breath stunk and tasted so bad, even after I would brush my teeth, froze my butt off outside even though I didn't want to go out there, still needed that cigarette.
I'm still addicted to nicotine, but replaced cigarettes with an e cigarette. I'd love to one day out that down as well. But I don't stink anymore, I feel better, and I now can't stand the taste or smell of cigarettes. But my parents still smoke, my dad denies that his constant coughing is because of smoking and he acts irritated when you tell him that it is and he denies that second hand smoke is a thing. My mom knows they both need to quit and has talked about quitting but she still does it and probably because she's extremely stressed out all the time. Cigarettes are horrible, and I can only hope my children don't ever try to pick it up, or any other tobacco product. Addiction sucks.

12:52 this hits me hard because when I was like 8 I was playing tag at my sisters wedding (the floors there where concrete btw) I tripped and had a girl who was atleast 6 fall ontop of me at, and because of the weight of the girl who fell ontop of me my weight ended up going onto one of my knees and I wasn't able to walk and had to go to the ER after the wedding. So I was wheeled into the ER waiting room in a wheel chair and I see this girl and who I was assuming was her boyfriend , the girl was crying and I felt genuinely bad for her I was, I have no idea what was going on with her and as the sentimental child I was, I also was about to cry because I felt bad for her. Anyways so a nurse called me in and keep in mind the couple I presume was still waiting, the girl said to her boyfriend "Why does she get to go in, I was here first." and then her boyfriend replied "She's in a wheelchair", I felt once again bad for her because since I didnt need to walk I could've just waited a while longer and she could've gotten the care she needed. This post reminded me of this situation, and know I still feel bad because I know what's it like to be frustrated and say stuff that you dont really mean. And who knows maybe she was in some serious pain, I'm assuming something was wrong with her neck cause she was holding it. I ended up just badly bruising alot of mussel and tissue and had to wear a brace for about 1 week.

Tbh, I don't mind if a woman asks me that. As long as they don't mind me asking my own questions too. The way I see it is if they don't like me for my height that's fair since I too might not like them for certain traits they have. While looks aren't everything, they are important in a relationship since you want to be attracted to your partner. That being said, you should also like a person for their personality too because physical attraction won't matter if you can't stand to be around your partner and talk to them due to a dislike of their personality traits.

I practically NEVER heard about women having PTSD until I got older and starting figuring things out myself, as a child I would only ever hear it when people were talking about veterans so for the longest time I thought only people who fought it wars could have PTSD, and everyone else was just being dramatic. I get the reply’s point, but the fact that no one ever talks about sexual assault & rape survivors having PTSD is a serious issue and is something that should be addressed.

Whenever I come to “r/MurderedbyWords”, I’m awestruck by some of the amazing things that people can say. Every moron who said the black hole image was shite, deserved every lecture they received. This...What I’m about to say sounds incredibly stupid, however I find myself looking at these posts of word murder (the lectures) as a jumping off point for education.
I hadn’t realized how bad it was for gals when it came to the debate regarding makeup. Almost all of the women in my life were comfortable with themselves and used makeup to accentuate their beauty, or would find ways to overcome troubles they had. Most of the girls I knew growing up, were similarly minded. For this reason, I didn’t realize just how intense the debate could get and now I’m definitely intrigued by the lecture on stances regarding beauty products.
Similarly, I grew up around people who appreciated science and respected religious differences as best they could. When I saw the black hole image, I was fairly confused at first because I hadn’t realized what it was. As soon as my brother explained it, there was a whole new wave of emotions, knowing that mankind made an enormous step forward. In an almost opposite direction, I’ve also begun to re-learn about the different sects of Satanism like I’d been doing in high school after my aunt became friends with a practitioner of Luciferianism. Until today, I didn’t even realize that there were issues regarding these topics.
While it saddens me to know that things aren’t as great as they feel at times, word murder helps me learn about the world as well as helps me find myself happier with the life I was dealt. Due to my ADHD and budding psychosis, I find myself at a loss for pertinent questions and have a high probability for being unawares. It’s why I spend time talking online with folks, as it helps me learn their struggles, giving me places to expand my horizons in terms of awareness. This helps me become more informed as well as reinforces how lucky I am in life.
To all the folks at Emkay, thank you for this treasure you’ve given me and I deeply apologize if anything I’ve said in this comment has made you at all uncomfortable. If you’d like me to retract it, I’ll do so. Have a blessed day ☺️

My arm's capillaries turned purple and my arm turned pink, then I couldn't feel or move my arm for about 30 minutes. I'm so happy something worse didn't happen. A substance that by body thought was toxic was injected into my bloodstream, I cant imagine if my reaction was more severe and reached my brain.
I'm not an anti-vaccination person, shots r important. I just dont think I can ever get near one again. I had a pretty severe episode just by seeing someone on TV get a shot. (I fell onto the floor and protected my arm in absolute fear and braced, my friend was very confused lol)

I'm reminded of how my cousin and girlfriend will always carry a scent of smoke on them because their houses are ridden with the stuff from their parents.
Once when I had my gf over, her coat reaked of smoke so badly, my sister had to take it out of the closet because the fumes were affecting her fiancé that badly.
I can relate as well with the exception of lung cancer thank God! I hate cigarettes with a passion! My mom smoked from 1990 up until she quitted 2016. She only quit because of a health scare. Doing drugs are never cool. It can bite you in the butt one day.
My dad was a chainsmoker for most of my childhood. Everything in the house smelled like it was burned to the ground, you could see an actual cloud of smoke when you came into my house and my dad would send my 10yr old ass to get him cigarettes (back then the sellers didn't ask any questions since in my country almost everyone was smoking). Of course I leant that smoking is ok and I took it up when i was 20. The stupidest decision of my life! I'm smoke free for almost 2 years now and even the faintest smell of cigarettes can give me a rage fit. So yeah... smoking? Sooo cool 😐
