My problem with paul saladino is; while he was doing carnivore for the year(s), he was telling us how great he felt, how he's in the best health of his life, how everything is covered nutritionally and now he's saying that he had heart palpitations, poor sleep, muscle cramps? How am I supposed to trust someone who would lie about their quality of life like that and promote the diet that was causing themselves problems? Worse still he will talk about how "they said" you don't need to worry about electrolytes, just eat more! No, you said that, not some nebulous "them", he needs to claim more ownership for the information that he helped spread.
He said all these things because he went carnivore for a while and felt great because all his symptoms were gone from his auto immune illnesses/ mental health and other things. After a while, he started to feel shitty so he incorporated fruit and honey and he felt better. Basically carnivore is good in the short term for him but after a few years, he couldn’t maintain it.
Ur problem is that you’re talking about having to “trust” this guy - I don’t trust him at all. I listen to what he says and lots of it is good stuff, some of it is probably overboard. Stop thinking you can trust some random person on UA-cam and start analyzing and testing things for yourself.
I listen to Thomas, Dr. berg, and Paul to name a few. They all provide great information. When I was on Keto I ended up with kidney stones and electrolyte issues. I did animal based diet and it was definitely much better. However, I was constantly having constipation and ended up with anal fissure. So now I eat animal based with fully cooked veggies and that works for me. Lots of fermented veggies like kimchi and pickles and yogurt helped as well. We all have different blood types and lineage and gut. Food is going to be unique for everyone and it's a trial and error until you figure out your problematic foods. No diet is going to work 100% for you and it's up to you to add and take food out of your diet.
You're a good example of how different diets work for different people. A friend of mine just had a kidney stone removed, and I had learned a lot from that. Doctor had told me to eat mainly plant based proteins, but it's hard for me to get enough and meet my 1.7 g per kilo of body weight target. Nutrition Made Simple's identical twins diet study was a good one. I had ended up with 50/50 plant and animal proteins. Fermented foods cheese and yogurt for the majority of my saturated fat intake it seems to work better for me than beef or pork; those are down to twice a week
I find it odd that in US people are getting fat from fruits. I grew up in a different country and we were surrounded by fruits all day everyday. Not one person in my family was fat or unhealthy until we came to US. Its not just food thats full of chemicals but also soil is full of crap so truly nothing is organic here. I have never experienced this much stress over what to eat before..its annoying. Its like all your energy goes into what you can and cant eat. I visited home few years ago and came back 15 pounds lighter and some days i had cake for breakfast. Not joking. I wasn't watching my diet on vacation. Im not the only one that experienced that. My friend lived with my grandma for a summer in Europe and came back so much healthier. Skin issues weight issues resolved in 3 months. Just crazy. It really shows just how much we are being poisoned in US nutrition wise.
Majority of people in the US are eating highly processed foods, they rarely eat fruit or vegetables. I remember seeing that like 80% of American diet is processed. They aren’t getting fat on fruit or vegetables lol
I don't think the problem is fruit, I think it's juice consumed in ridiculously large quantities combined with all the processed crap the average american has in their diet. It's all excess energy that we don't need spending 8 hours at a desk and 3 hours in front of the tv or computer.
@@oliviagreen8853 yes I agree but also there is noticeable difference in soil . US soil is being stripped from all nutrients and minerals due to pesticides. veggies and fruits have natural aroma when you go to other countries. I grew up living off of land and growing everything under the sun. You come in American store and you smell nothing, that's not normal and that's a red flag. It's like produce is plastic.
@@lp1643 you said it. You grew up living off the land. Buy food from a local small farmer in the US and you will again be able to smell your fruit. The soils in the US and the soils in the majority of other countries is void of nutrients not because of pesticides but because they are trying to feed so many people off a small area. So the next time you see a housing development going in realize that is more farm ground going away or more people running freely across the border that is more mouths to feed with less land.
According to the USDA, 100 grams of raw yellow sweet corn contains 3.43 g glucose, 1.94 g fructose, and 0.89 g sucrose. during processing High-temperature enzymes are added to metabolize the starch and convert the resulting sugars to fructose. They make 3 versions, 42% fructose for processed foods, 55% fructose for soft drinks, and 70% fructose for filling jellies
I trust Dr Saladino’s honesty: as he learns more, he promulgates what is the best he knows. If he learns differently, he says so. You just have to adapt what he says to yourself. I live in Northern Illinois, not Costa Rica. I’m a 73-yo woman who exercises, but I don’t surf! For me, fruit is apples, pears, berries, stone fruit in season, rarely, an orange. A banana once or twice a week, probably none the next week. Mangos are lovely, but one has to draw the line somewhere! So I haven’t had one in years. I’ve only been on a modified carnivore way of eating for just under 3 months; I’m still experimenting. I’m eager for my next blood draw, in about a month. I may want to adjust my fruit intake depending on my numbers. That’s the rational way to proceed, I think.
I actually think a lot of these guys "optimize" a little too aggressively before videos. Just like David Sinclair looks young to promote his theory, people who have a diet ary theory want to seem like they have boundless energy.
Saying stupid things very quickly is a con artist tactic commonly used to over stimulate you and provide the illusion that something important was said. "Confidence trick".
So I eat the saladino diet. Fruit doesn’t make you fat. I’m losing weight every week. My weight doesn’t change but my body fat percentage drops .3 every single week. And I feel incredible. Energy from carnivore and double dipping with some fructose makes my workouts insane. Great talk. Was good to listen during my gym session this morning
you'll lose fat with even small changes when you're already chubby, which I'm guessing you are. But once you're down to like 15 % bf for a male, you'll notice that these things make a large difference and can't "get away" with it the same way.
@@kaizenjames4105 your guess is incorrect. I’m 168lb 6ft tall 34 years old. 17% bf according to my scale this morning. You must be lazy or no where near active enough or possibly over eating. Again fruit doesn’t make you fat. over indulgence and low activity does. Just do what’s best for you. My personal results however are undeniable.
You must be satiated very easily, I can eat an entire pineapple, 4 apples, persimmon, half a dozen figs all at once and still feel hungry. @@Cryptoscammersbeware
Fructose was the biggest topic in the latest yearly World Health organisation event. Because, your liver cant process it and transform it into fat sitting around your liver (fatty liver). You may get the vitamins/minerals but fat accumulates in your organs...
We all evolve. I did the same Keto/Carnivore and then animal based. Felt good on Keto, great on carnivore, currently AWESOME on animal based. These two men have been my greatest teachers in regards to health. Haters are meant to hate not evolve Paul and Thomas, keep doing what you are doing and never stop evolving and challenging your previous beliefs. Much love and appreciation to you both.
@@ItsWhat__ "people trying to remain relevant…". I guess is a matter of perspective. To me evolving and changing your mind is a good thing (plus i feel fantastic). Be well.
My personal experience (as a former type 2 diabetic) is overeating energy (energy toxicity), whether it be fat or carbs, and becoming a lard ass. I am at well over 200g of carbs a day and 77g of fat with a fasting glucose average of 82, and my A1Cs have been anywhere from 4.8 to 5.1 over the past three years. Lose the excess weight and add some muscle so you can store energy. Then, deplete that stored energy with intentional movement. Trying to get flatlined blood sugar levels is a fool's errand. Metabolic flexibility is doable with some effort and consistency.
That's exactly what I need to do. Gain some real muscle. I have a small farmstead that I do everything manually on, but it isn't enough. I sit on this 5.7 HbA1c cusp so often. My joints tear up at every turn ( flipping in and out rotator cuff currently), but I try to keep on pushing, but I need some actual "exercise" is my assumption. I am not that overweight, but I know full well I am losing muscle.
This shows that one needs to do one's research. I can see that Paul is a work in progress and does research to find the latest information. We can definitely learn from his journey and apply it where it's necessary. Stay flexible and open minded in your thinking and continue to research as much as possible. Personally I'm wary of extremes. I find the whole carnivore thing extremely interesting so I want to know as much as I possibly can. Keep talking Paul, I'm listening.

Thank you for talking about the heavy metals and mold in chocolate. People can feel good one day and not the next. Sometimes it takes time to identify why you feel different especially when trying to pinpoint if food is the culprit. One size does not fit all folks, there's no blame/shame in changing your diet to feel better or optimize your health. People are allowed to change their diet and/or mind.
Some how I did not like the title of the video . Paul has not changed his mind over fruits and sugar , carbs from fruit . So I think the title could have been better .
I got off of 2 sugar diabetes meds eating honey. I kept up with my blood work to make sure I was alright, and I am. That's been years ago. I still keep up with blood work, and I'm still fine 😊 Talked to others who did the same, and they found out the same.

@@nancymoore4992 that's amazing. I too have difficulty with gluten and was also advised to cut out cow dairy. Do you limit how much honey you have, or carb intake ? Very interested as alot of people swear by keto for diabetes.
Seasonal eating is the natural diet. Fruit isn’t available year round, honey is an occasional food. Meat on the other hand is available year round in the wild. No one has died from eating a poisonous piece of meat (unless a snake or puffer fish but we are talking about land animals and red meat). Meat was the most abundant, calorie dense and year round food source. Is is not difficult to determine what we survived on naturally for several millennia. Eating all these seasonal type foods year round is an industrial creation. Not a genetically natural position.
I've experienced great success having 2 carnivore days and 1 day that includes fruit, honey, dairy (if tolerated, I use goat milk personally). Interestingly, I've found it actually keeps me on the wagon a lot better than going to either extreme.

I feel good about people like Dr. Paul Saladino changing his mind. That means he is learning and studying. He is not a selfish investigator. He shares new found knowledge.
New found knowledge? Are you KIDDING ME? This guy actively spread (correction: spreads, he still sells his book) patently false information that has real and permanently health-damaging consequences for years even though the scientific knowledge that contradicts him has been out there for years if not decades. There are some very confused allegedly health-promoting individuals on UA-cam but Selladino is a special case. Whatever you think you learned in this video, it's most likely wrong. Selladino still proclaims his false opinions, that go against long established scientific knowledge, as fact and sells it as if it's something he's discovered. He also continues making completely fallacious arguments and fails to draw valid conclusions (like for example all his arguments based on "evolutionary correctness" or the conclusions he draws from studies where they used honey to treat diabetes).
if he is still learning and studying, he isnt even trying. we have so many studies on the health benefits of fruit for example, but his version of "studying" involves learning the hard way, making guesses and ignoring studies, all while spreading anecdote mixed with misinformation.
He could've shared the fact that he was having issues with cramps, testosterone and heart palpitations, to be fair. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not particularly impressed by his decision to share that information, only after he changed his diet quite drastically.
Man made? 100g of honey is basically ~74g table sugar and the rest is almost all water. Now please don't tell me that there is no such thing as "too much honey". The truth is that too much of anything is unhealthy. The problem is not sugar but that people are horrible at keeping track of how much sugar is in their beverages and foods and so they relentlessly and chronically overeat (see the obesity epidemic). Selladino is still completely confused, as this video proves. After all, he spread harmful misinformation for years, still makes the completely fallacious argument from "evolutionary correctness" (there is no such thing) and still thinks that keto fixes insulin resistance. No dummy, you need carbs for that and the fact that this has been done with honey is not because honey is special but because honey is sugar which is a carbohydrate. He really is a clueless clown.
Not true, that’s because of inflammation. Look into how conditions such as SIBO can cause NAFLD due to the toxic metabolites that flood your portal vein

They’re the leading group regarding microbial etiology of IBS research, and their head, Mark Pimentel, has done tremendous work on his own. People seem to forget fruit never used to be really sweet for example the orginal apple was the crab apple which wasn't sweet. Humans crossbread fruit to be unnaturally sweeter.
In the 60’s candy bars had milk chocolate, nuts, palm oils and cane sugar. Monsanto was just getting started, mainly in Canada, stealing farms. Allegedly.
Wild fruits, as with wild foods high in omega-6s, are mostly available later in the year. They are an evolved trigger for producing and storing fat in preparation for winter. Even in many places near the equator, the fruit and honey season is short. For the Hadza, the availability in the wet season only lasts 2-3 months. That means for 9-10 months of the year even many equatorial people are eating few carbs at all. And because they aren't in need of putting on fat for winter, they don't necessarily eat tons of sugar even then. That is according to the nutritionist Mary Ruddick who has visited the Piraha on many occasions at different times of the year. Saladino generally ignores such contrary and inconvenient info. He also overlooks the fact that the Hadza, though near the equator, have a fruit and honey season that only lasts 2-3 months a year. And even during the fruit and honey season, they prioritize meat and only eat sugary foods as an occasional treat. Yet he used the Hadza as justification of eating large amounts of sugary modern cultivars of fruits every day of the year. By the way, he only visited the Hadza one time and for something like one day. Ruddick, in a video with Harry Serpanos, talks about that visit as she was there too, but Saladino left so quickly that she didn't get to meet him. She could've set Saladino straight, as she is closely familiar with their diet. If Saladino was only eating wild fruit in season, his argument would at least be reasonable. Wild fruit tends to be small. Even the early fruit cultivars were tiny compared to today's cultivars. A peach during the Bronze Age was about the size of a cherry. And that was already cultivated to be larger than it's wild ancestor. But on top of that, the sugar content and concentration was so much lower, with much more fiber. One has to eat handfuls of many kinds of wild berries to get the amount of sugar in a single modern grape. Also, the honey comb the Hadza eat contains more than honey, as the comb itself has a lot of protein and grubs in it.
I agree that the fruit we eat today is very different but so is modern day meat...a lot, if not most wild caught meat is extremely lean, (and doesn't come ready cooked in butter or ghee) a wild bird or wild boar is nothing like their modern day counter parts, even the free range organic ones... also, our ancestors were never going to sit down to five to ten eggs for breakfast as some people do now on a paleo diet...the eggs would be foraged for, infrequently found, and they would be smaller and again different to the eggs we eat today...so, you can use the same argument to support your views on both sides...
@@Tam438Totally agree. Not only would fruit eating have been very sporadic seasonal, especially further away from the equator, but eggs would have been an occasional luxury, and I've never understood the eating fatty meat idea evolutionarily, as most wild animals are very lean. So much fake ideology around this ancestral eating malarkey
Would it be fair to say that if you are overweight and insulin resistant and in poor health, that you should avoid fruit/carbs to get healthy first, and then, if desired, start reincorporating some fresh fruits and see how you feel?
Yes but it is probably better to limit the amount of fruit/carbs even then or else related health problems could easily sneak back up on you without you knowing.
Almost all fruit we eat today is cultivated to contain way more fructose and less fibre than its ancestral derivatives. Just something to think about. Fruit should only be eaten now and then. Paul and Thomas are extremely active individuals who can get away with eating a lot of fruit. The general population will just end up with a fatty liver if they eat a ton of fruit.
I'm wondering if by your logic sportsmen can drink "a lot" of alcohol because they are very active? Fructose and alcohol are metabolized in the same way by the liver.
Saladino conveniently ignores such facts. He also ignores the fact that the Hadza have a fruit and honey season that only lasts 2-3 months a year. And even during the fruit and honey season, they prioritize meat and only treat sugary foods as an occasional treat. Yet he used the Hadza as justification of eating large amounts of sugary modern cultivars of fruits every day of the year. Studies use modern fruit for sometimes years and consistently show more beneficial than negative effects. Please present evidence of human fruit consumption harming the liver. It's also difficult to overeat fruit compared to other sources of sugar, so people would be more likely to get fatty liver from overconsuming sweetened beverages, as per the rat studies on fructose.
My great grandmother lived in Louisiana and grew sugar cane and would harvest it and her Jenny would walk in circles all day to grind it down and capture the juice and jar it for selling and trading And when I was a kid, the Farmer's Markets would sell it and hand out stumpy samples to passersby to gnaw on while shopping (Im 53)

The question is why so many fall for it although almost everything, including what he said in this and in the previous video on Thomas' channel, is either confused drivel or evidently false. To say that the problem with sugar is that it has additional chemicals in it sounds like copium. To me, sugar is indeed a problem. What exacerbates the sugar problem is sedentarism and not well defined meal times. That leads to chronic levels is high insulin, which is one of the causes of insulin resistance. Or not?
You have to look at the big picture. We tend to get tunnel vision, focusing on the microcosm, I know I'm guilty of it too, all the time. You have to force a habit of stepping back and looking at the whole forest, not just the microscopic bugs on a single leaf. Sustained high levels of glucose are well known to be harmful. That doesn't equate to all glucose spikes being bad, you are right about that. I understand that a carnivore diet works for most people, but we are omnivores, and consuming fruits and vegetables along with meat makes sense when you look at how our intestines are designed. We are not cows, but neither are we lions, and even a lion will eat medicinal plants when it feels the need.
You’re a rare minority. For the VAST majority fruit makes heart palpitations GO AWAY. Because of potassium and magnesium are in fruits and are USUALLY the main cause of palpitations

diabetes isn't a problem of too much dietary sugar it's a metabolic disease of chronically high cortisol which leads to excessive gluconeogenisis. 90% of the glucose in the blood is endogenous. sure if you have high blood sugar and pour more on top of it you see even higher blood sugar but that's an oversimplification of a very complex system. listen to older podcasts of paul where he could lower his blood sugar with incorporating carbs, especially morning readings. that's clearly a sign that it lowered his cortisol thus reducing gluceogenisis which lowered his fasting levels. diabetics have to remove the fat out of the diet and reduce proteins so that the sugar can be metabolized better.
Jesus, the guy's a scammer. Some people let Liver-King off the hook, just like you're letting Rat-boy off the hook. You just like being in a cult. You're probably a maga too.
Great video; thoughtful conversation. *BUT* 1. If someone needs to lose weight to become healthy, continuously consuming carbohydrates will keep insulin levels high, and you will be unable to burn body fat. So, for a season, any sugar regardless of source is not beneficial. How you got there is a different issues. 2. Some people, due to metabolism or disfunction or genetics or whatever, will have a blood glucose level dip after a spike and release of insulin. This 'slam' on the metabolic function would make you feel lousy, hungry, hangry even. The quick fix is more carbohydrates, and this cycle could easily lead into addiction. P.S. I wish the video editor cut to Thomas' face when Paul broke the news about chocolate.
@@jennifermarlow. Yes, and when I choose a chocolate bar, I look for at least 72% cacao, a carbohydrate to fiber ratio of no more than 5:1 and minimal added sugar.

His cholesterol went high. His free testosterone dropped to near zero. Both problems resolved by adding carbs, or by adding electrolytes? As a Christian, It’s simple. God clearly made fruit bright and delicious to attract animals to eat it. Honey is like a rare treasure for us because if you can get past the bees you get the beautiful, delicious, golden honey. Fruit trees are common, therefore should be eaten often. Honey (beehive) is less accessible/common, therefore should be consumed less often. Animals are common and should be consumed often. Leaves, stems, roots are bitter, not desirable looking, therefore should be left alone for ruminant animals to eat. Use your basic God given instincts
I like how Paul talked about how there's a lumping together of things under the umbrella of sugar that are not necessarily the same. It's a very similar problem to the "red meat" studies that treat processed salami the same as steak.
The Hadza DO eat massively different amounts of fiber at different times of the year. There's no berries in the dry season. During the dry season they primarily eat meat, with tubers as a fallback. They become fat adapted during the dry season, and then eat more carbs/fiber/antioxidants during the rain season when plants are bountiful. This is the way we are supposed to eat.
I've learned to never have a "definitive" view on anything. Through experience i learned what I laughed about as "crazy" became "normal", and then back again, full circle. In fact, my own grandfather's state of health, directly contradicts all accepted longevity and health "advice". Within context of the topic discussed, my own experience is some sugary drinks or foods, make me sleep after consuming. Those are the ones that I know are bad for me.
not one single gram of fiber or carbohydrate is necessary to sustain healthy human body; HOWEVER, pre and pro biotics from produce make for a happy gut microbiome which has huge benefits
Since eating more plant fibre my chronic constipation has got much worse over the last year. I am now cutting back on fibre as much as I can until I can regulate it better.
@@dennisward43 consider researching FODMAP swaps, using fiber from fruit and veg, not grains nor legumes Chew a lot more than seems normal, take a digestive enzyme, or OxBile - bile salts, and drink mineral water at meals, not tap water But why throw sawdust on a log jam- eat fat!!
Reminds me of the time when I brought up eating half a banana, tablespoon of peanut butter, half a keto friendly tortilla, and an 8oz glass of milk as a DESERT and was shot down by people even being told it has as much carbs as a McDonalds double cheeseburger. Zealots will be zealots.
Yeah, I don't even know why it is any of their business. I like Thomas Delauer, but if I were eating a hamburger, fries and chocolate milkshake in front of him, I wouldn't be embarrassed,. What I eat may not be healthy, but I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want.
Nut butter is just nuts put in a blender. If it's too dry add butter (oil) -- hence the name "nut + butter"! But I always appreciate some good products out there to buy for those of us who lack the conscientiousness to blend nuts.
Here’s my issue. Saladino is naturally thin. Even pre-carnivore, he was thin (maybe too thin). He’s somebody that doesn’t have to worry about insulin spiked (which does cause weight gain-that’s why bodybuilders consume sugar, via gummy bears OR fruit, immediately after a workout). Gut issues consuming fructose aside, insulin spikes aside, fruit definitely has always caused me to gain weight-even with me running 5 miles a day and sticking to ultra strict paleo. If you’re a naturally thin person, you just don’t understand that some people have a hard time processing AND burning off carbs. Like I said, naturally thin people don’t have to worry about this. People like me, Chris Pratt, and many of you: we feel best and look best eliminating as much plantbased foods as possible.
hey. fruit doesn't spike insulin or blood sugar levels. that's a myth that's simply not true. research it. also bodybuilders don't consume something sweet after a workout to gain weight but to lower cortisol levels after the workout. fructose only causes gut issues if taken isolated or if your gut bacteria is out of balance. not in combination with the actual fruit. If you gain fat in excessive amounts through eating fruits you should check your digestion, look into fasting and reset your gut.
The body adjusts to either or. If you haven’t been on plants, your body has no enzymes and bacteria to break down all that fiber. If you stick with plants or carnivore, the gut and intestines create a microbiome to create enzymes and bacteria to accommodate
You should also know that working out alone spikes insulin, as well as whey protein and other amino acids sources, particularly leucine. You're just spiking your insulin from all that running. Try lifting instead to get some decent muscle mass so your weight gain goes to a more metabolically demanding tissue.
He's admitted numerous times he had it wrong and we should be glad that he didn't become stubbornly dogmatic about it. I actually have no issue with the extreme carnivore diet, I think it's the ideal elimination diet to correct some health issues before trying to readjust to find the proper balance.
Selladino is still completely confused, as this video proves. After all, he spread harmful misinformation for years which caused real harm, still makes the completely fallacious argument from "evolutionary correctness" (there is no such thing) and still thinks that keto fixes insulin resistance. No dummy, you need carbs for that and the fact that this has been done with honey is not because honey is special but because honey is sugar which is a carbohydrate. 100g of honey is basically ~74g of table sugar and the rest is water. He really is a clueless clown.
@@Julian-xs8nc You mean the cult he created himself, right? And judging from all of what he said in this and other recent videos his fallacious way of reasoning and thinking hasn't changed one bit, so I'd argue he's still in it.
Tried his honey with my keto for 2 months and arthritis went through the roof , quit honey and went back to monk fruit sweetener and arthritis cleared up .
Honey with an actual keto high fat diet is probably a bad idea anyway - plus honey flaring up your already sensitive immune system doesn’t mean it’s bad for everyone or even most people
Differences between kiwi+pineapple+papaya and Snickers: 1. KPP is mostly water, carb and fiber, while Snickers is 44.5% calories from fat (that is already turned to fat), and is a very high fat "food", fatter than salmon or McD's fries 2. Snickers is a highly engineered, hyper-palatable, sugar+fat cafeteria diet (CAF) "food". 3. Snickers costs $1.3 for 280 calories, and is at every checkout isle of every store, while a whole box of Zespri Kiwigolds costs $5 and is only 200 cals, and a lot of time is out of stock. Asian supermarkets are the most reliable for kiwigolds and all fruit. 4. Nobody sits on the couch eating a whole box of kiwigolds at once except guys like Durianrider and the people from the "Vegans: The epitome of malnourishment" series. Pretty much everyone on the "Secret Eaters" show sits on the couch eating chocolate bars.
I think what paul does is (mostly) great, being on either end of the extreme is bad. My problem with him is its a bit TOO much fruit. I live in okinawa (born and raised native) and we eat mainly meat especially pork and seafood BUT we also eat goya hijiki edamame spirilina tofu and green tea. So while we lean towards the carnivore side we eat a solid amount of plant foods. I also dont think its wrong to learn something new and go back on what you previously thought thats how you grow and evolve. Also fruit within reason is fine some people do great on zero carbs and some people need a bit of carbs both are fine
10:14 also you’re not addressing the fact that most people are overweight severely obese and should all avoid all sugar and carbs for to get to their ideal weight. Most ppl don’t “surf” 3 hours a day or work out at the Gym 4hours a day. You guys are not speaking to the everyday Americans.
Paul is the GREATEST CLOWN I’ve seen in the internet. Not trustworthy at all. It was one thing if he showed to us some level of skepticism whenever he’s following one of his diets but no lol he’s always SO confident as if everyone is wrong and he’s figured everything out. At this point it just feels like propaganda. We all have to remember all these people including Thomas make money out of these videos and have to ALWAYS maintain a fresh audience and find new ways to get more “clicks” thats what the media is about nowadays. I’ve achieved this year the BEST physic ever literally ripped by eating all sorts of whole foods (vegs, fruits, meat, eggs, milk, sweet potatoes, oats & green tea) and lifting weights & cardio and before I was always stuck and seeing very minimal results because of listening to so much BS and fear of foods that are actually good for us.
For the consept of adding fruit to carnivore diet is not clear for me yet to be beneficial or not. But I believe playing with fruits and fructose is like playing with alcohol or other addictive substances. It is difficult to keep the moderation. How many times you decided to have only 1 glass of alcohol and you kept your promises? What about chocolate? I'm afraid to fall of track by playing with these foods.
A juice glass is the smallest glass for a reason. A blood sugar spike a couple times a day is one thing, but with snacks we are spiking it all day long. Also, what got you here won’t get you there.
@@Msmithrdn yeah big difference between the occasional acute spike from whole food carbs (which also has fiber) and chronically elevated glucose from UPF
I am sorry for your health issues, but I am going to bet that these did not happen from eating a whole food diet with a bit of fruit and honey. This most likely occurred from a lengthy period of time of ingesting the SAD. In your case, I would definitely not engage in the fruit and honey habits that Paul does seeing you are metabolically damaged.
you can take cacao paste or powder/butter and make your own snickers type creations or coat raw cacao over nuts ,it tempers well with maple syrup or honey, and can remain raw and nutrient dense. if you want to replace chocolate bars. ceremonial cacao drink with some raw milk might be the best coffee replacement out there also. replace bad stuff with superfood versions
I respect him, because he has the courage to say I had ti adjust my diet. One diet for you may not be right for me. Also, our bodies are always changing so we have to adjust with that too. Even Thomas DeLauer has admitted he had to adjust some of the things he learned and use to do.
He gets too technical and lost in his own language. I tried to read his book The Carnivore Code and stopped reading after the second chapter. Too much medical speak.
Hes a grifter. You dont need any studies to know that carnivore is bs. Yet he was promoting it for quite a time and still makes money off it, with his book.
What I heard: Eat diversely but don't be afraid of cutting things out if they cause inflammation or discomfort. EVERYTHING (except natural sugars that we eat?) can have a contaminated version of itself that is either in nature or is man-made. So sugar plants don't have these heavy metals and contaminants in them? Diabetes is caused mostly by highly processed seed oils and man- made fructose, but not sugars in natural forms apparently? Juice?, why not just eat the fruit, clearly that has more nutrition in it.
I read Lierre Keith's book, then I read Paul's. Lierre seemed genuinely concerned and had compassion. I didn't get the same feeling from Paul's book. He just seemed like a salesman to me. Then I learned about how he lives and have listened to many other practicing doctors, and have come to the conclusion that Paul not only doesn't really know what he's talking about, but he's also not someone that an average person should model themselves after considering his lifestyle vs an average working person's lifestyle. However, he has influenced many people to go carnivore, so there's that.
Please do a video on the 2 I'll mention next: Ribose, a simple sugar and carbohydrate, seen in some drinks... Also Isomaltulose (trade name Palatinose), a disaccharide carbohydrate composed of glucose and fructose. It is naturally present in honey and sugarcane extracts and is also produced industrially from table sugar (sucrose) and used as a sugar alternative. It tastes similar to table sugar with half the sweetness. It has the same energy as table sugar, but is digested slower and thus leads to a lower blood glucose and insulin response. In comparison with sucrose and most other carbohydrates, isomaltulose is not a significant substrate for oral bacteria. Consequently, acid production from isomaltulose in the mouth is too slow to promote tooth decay. Its physical properties closely resemble those of sucrose, making it easy to use in existing recipes and processes. In nutrition, isomaltulose is a source of food energy, providing the same amount of energy as sucrose. Like sucrose, isomaltulose provides sweetness to foods, but isomaltulose is only about half as sweet as sucrose.
I am using Isomaltulose for baking mostly, because it is able to caramelize like sugar. Use it in addition to erythritol and stevia. There's a german researcher Dr. coy who wrote a book about alternative sugar types which gave me the idea to use it. Isomaltulose is said to enter blood sugar more slowly.
Let's keep in mind that the fruit available today is much higher in sugar than what our ancestors had. I wish we still had a "fruit off a tree" available to all of us. I'm sorry, but his message did not come through well at all...
Tons of stores have more traditional style fruit that is smaller, organic, etc - not hard to find. And if you’re not spending money eating out a few times a week then you can buy very good quality food and not spend much more money
@@WideAwakeHumanit’s all been hybridized. Original fruit would have been much more sour or bitter and if sweet much more fibrous and not as much actual juice.
Basically everything Selladino says is either confused drivel or simply wrong ... and the correct answer has been known for years or decades. What does it matter what your ancestors ate? Most of our ancestors died in their 20s and 30s and most of their offspring died in childhood. That is how evolution works and why all of Selladino's arguments from nature are fallacious nonsense. As for your comment on fruit: most of our ancestors did not have the luxury to pick fruits of a tree either. They were lucky to find a few ripe berries for a short time during the year. And guess what, berries still exist today. Berries contain lots of dietary fiber and less sugar than "fruits off trees". Here's my tip to regain sanity: if Selladino says something then think of the opposite. It most probably makes more sense and is more right.
wish granted: eat the pulp out of a pomegranate and discard the juicy seeds. eat the membrane between off each grapefruit segment and throw away the juicy parts. eat the banana strings and peel, discard the fruit flesh. but you can eat a whole lemon, because its not great on its own. big fructose wants to enslave you.
If there is nothing “thermic” about raising blood sugar why do I get so hot after eating? My meal is meat, veggies, dairy and seeds. My fruit is berries.

Oh come on - he had a book to sell. He will of course take it off Amazon now he's said he was basically lying. What - nooooo. It's still for sale.

Well said
That sounds like a bile issue, which means you aren’t getting sufficient fats. Try 100g of butter every day.
Ditto on the well said!
Were you eating cheese when you had those problems? I found removing cheese from carnivore solved everything.
They aren’t getting fat on fruit or vegetables lol
it's HFCS and 32oz smoothies with added ice cream, not fruit that's chewed

@@cherryl225 So you disagree? Fair.
He could've shared the fact that he was having issues with cramps, testosterone and heart palpitations, to be fair. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not particularly impressed by his decision to share that information, only after he changed his diet quite drastically.
I would say too much "man made" fructose is the bad thing 100% As a NASH liver disease survivor.

In most the footage I've seen of the Hadza, only a few of the men eat the honey and they have missing teeth because of it

Would it be fair to say that if you are overweight and insulin resistant and in poor health, that you should avoid fruit/carbs to get healthy first, and then, if desired, start reincorporating some fresh fruits and see how you feel?
exactly

To say that the problem with sugar is that it has additional chemicals in it sounds like copium. To me, sugar is indeed a problem. Id like to see that study on the diabetics eating 120-150 g of honey and their numbers improving...🤔
diabetes isn't a problem of too much dietary sugar it's a metabolic disease of chronically high cortisol which leads to excessive gluconeogenisis.

*BUT*

When he's talking about fruit juices I believe he means the natural kind without high fructose corn syrup and added sugar.
A juice glass is the smallest glass for a reason. A blood sugar spike a couple times a day is one thing, but with snacks we are spiking it all day long. Also, what got you here won’t get you there.
Yes, remember when orange juice glasses came in a set and were these tiny little things that would fit literally the juice of one orange or two?
"Raising your glucose is not harmful to humans" ..... tell that to my vision loss, nerve damage, liver and kidney problems.
😢
Thats definitely from excessively overload for a long extended period of time.
Please - Stop confusing the issue!! You got intense bikes from a lot of crappy food not from a very healthy well-controlled diet that included fruit!
you can take cacao paste or powder/butter and make your own snickers type creations or coat raw cacao over nuts ,it tempers well with maple syrup or honey, and can remain raw and nutrient dense. if you want to replace chocolate bars. ceremonial cacao drink with some raw milk might be the best coffee replacement out there also. replace bad stuff with superfood versions
He doesn't eat or say cocoa/cacao is good for you. At least up to now 😂😅 (maybe in some months😂)
Or better yet, somedays I'll both drink coffee AND eat chocolate. win win
If these guys want to stay in business for a while, they might have to “change their minds” a few times if they don’t want to repeat themselves…
I respect him, because he has the courage to say I had ti adjust my diet. One diet for you may not be right for me. Also, our bodies are always changing so we have to adjust with that too. Even Thomas DeLauer has admitted he had to adjust some of the things he learned and use to do.
Sorry but the only thing that's worse than a Snickers is listening to Paul Saladino.
This, 100%. Also, almost 100% of what he says is either confused drivel or evidently false.
Soyboy
He gets too technical and lost in his own language. I tried to read his book The Carnivore Code and stopped reading after the second chapter. Too much medical speak.
@@papijetlife Is that actually supposed to be an insult?
Hes a grifter. You dont need any studies to know that carnivore is bs. Yet he was promoting it for quite a time and still makes money off it, with his book.
I never really noticed any problem eating white potatoes and the only problem I really noticed with white rice is gaining fat
I really learned a lot from this, I like what’s here and would like a bigger breakdown on sugar types.
Great episode! Thanks!
@@MS-sd1uzPlease check out the latest on erythritol. Warning. 😮
Eaten with meat and fat studies show that fruit and honey doesn't spike the insulin as much. Maybe it matters when and how you eat it.
So what do you eat on a day ?
