I love that it added a little depth to Winnie in that she would choose her sisters over power.
I honestly thought that was a little out of character for her. Remember when she called Max a fool for sacrificing himself to save his sister?

I love that the sisters freak out and run away after hearing the “lil women trapped in a box” because the last time they were curious and trusted a small woman’s voice in a box they got locked in a kiln and set on fire lol 😂
When Sarah said “art thou not coming with us” honestly I got really sad, I could have cried ngl
The movie wasn't as fantastical as the first but it was still a really fun watch. I wasn't bored during a single second of it. Solid 8/10

I agree with the 8/10, but I also think the original was about the same quality. It seems better because over time, the nostalgia and cult classic-ness of it grew, but when it first came out, I think 8/10 was a fair rating.

The story of Billy: He kisses the wrong sister then probably gets killed by the other sister. The end 😂

Only because these days people are way too overly sensitive about things. People don’t care about 10 year olds dressing like they’ are 30 and wearing makeup inspired by the Kardashians but a little movie like this is “inappropriate”. Laughable.

I liked the movie I don't get why ppl keep saying they turned good, they did not loyalty can be a trait of good people but not exclusive to them. Book wasn't good he was protected the witches. Winnie didn't turn good, she's a big sister she is still evil just a big sister who was been a perant since 16 to her sisters

The sisters definitely didn’t turn good they just relized the power isn’t worth the cost. Also personalY I’ve always believed that Book wasn’t good OR bad and just a sentient tool because he had good and bad spells in him and he was a ride or die with Winnie up until he said no to a certain spell and she violated his trust then he switched teams
I like the ending, because it shows how much Winnie loves her sisters. Also, I think they did that for a possible 3rd movie. Maybe Becca is going up against that other witch and she's not as strong as she needs to be to take her on. So they figure out how to bring them back to help them.
I could see that happening or a prequel would be fun set in the 1600s

Oh now I get it! book doesn’t like the spell because it knows that it will cost Winifred who or what she loved the most which was her sisters!
I don't think the sequel makes the sister's good. They're still very evil and awful witches, I think the ending is more of a sendoff to the three sisters. It also is good character development for Winnie to choose her sisters over having unlimited powers.
Cried my eyes out at the end, as I am the Winifred of my Sisters, & could not live without them.

I'm hoping that we're getting a movie three where this new coven of young witches is faced with Hannah Weddinghams character, the "Mother" witch. I would hope that either side would have reason to use the B.F. Candle #2 to bring back the Sanderson Sisters to help them, and perhaps the sisters will be faced with a choice between siding with the good coven or siding with their evil "Mother".

FYI for those curious 😏 this film was not filmed in Salem MA but Rhode Island instead. Salem is a fun place to visit especially if you love Halloween it's pretty much celebrated 24/7. In October it's like nothing you've experienced but worthwhile because you can visit the original hocus pocus sites even go into the townhall. There's also hocus-pocus tours and witch pics. Salem is a blast, you'll find out there's 2. Salem town and salem village(original). The book In the film i believe is based on salem myth. The devil's red book stitched together with human skin and signed by witches bound by contract. A little dark I'd say. I liked this film and hope another follows hopefully back in salem this time.
Why are they so terrified of a “small woman trapped in a box”? Because *the last time they followed a voice in a box, they got burned in a school kiln!*
The main problem with this movie is a compliment at the same time. All 3 sisters were awesome and at their best, but when that’s happening the rest of the cast kind of became uninteresting.

This was really good. We had a good time. Lots of laughs.. it was so fast though lol I was hoping for a magical eerie song somewhere. I hope they change things up for a 3rd movie if it's happening. They could really go all out now that they've reintroduced this world.

The trio were great and slipped into their roles perfectly but the atmosphere of the movie didn’t feel like fall at all. I don’t know how to explain it but it was missing the witchy vibe. Probably because they didn’t film in Salem, there were like zero autumn leaves.

I think sadly it captured perfectly how much the festive feeling of Halloween has diminished in the current times. Everything is so modernized, sure there was a carnival, but there were no children running "amok" on the streets. It's something we see today as well I go out for Halloween only to find mostly empty streets because kids don't go trick or treating anymore.
I dont understand how people think Winnie didn't care for her sisters yes she calls them names and hits them but like come on thats how sisters do especially older sisters you can see thru out the 1st movie how she does protect them and even when they were killing Emily she offered to share yes she does try to sacrifice Sarah but as a little sister yea they do that sometimes. Winnie is ride or die for her sisters since day one 💚❤️💜
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually loved this one more than the first. I had very low expectations for this sequel, but I ended up with an amused smile on my face the whole way through. I think the fact that these movies are so campy means that they become more and more enjoyable through the lens of nostalgia. I love that the filmmakers made a conscious choice to keep the over-the-top acting and humor and the low budget 90s-style special effects to tell even more of their story. The only thing missing for me was a reprise of I Put A Spell On You. Otherwise, it was the perfect way to kick off Halloween month for me!
This movie was very entertaining. Seemed like it had more than the first one. There is a end credit scene that sets up for a third film.
I don't think loving your family is mutually exclusive with being evil. Even Hitler had people he loved. So I don't think the ending meant that Winifred was "good", she just loved her sisters and was willing to do anything, including get help from her recent enemies, to get them back.
I will say "this is the work of the spider" everytime a little inconvenience happens from now on
I want to write that my name is Josh Tate and i'm writing that it's been confirmed that Hocus Pocus 3 will go straight to Disney+ and that it might become available to stream on Disney+ in the year 2025.
I truly enjoyed this movie and I really hope they somehow make a third one down the road 😊

Technically it's not because that house's filming location is in Salem, and this house's location is in Rhode Island.
I enjoy this movie just as much as the first. Of all the fumbles that Disney’s made recently as far as Nostalgic Throwback Movies, this one was *exactly* what it should’ve been.

I just finished reading the book prior to seeing this sequel (just in case they based the movie off of it). It is vastly different, but it's an interesting idea, in the sense that the kids from the original film are all grown up and are featured in it. Give it a read at some point

The tease should have been the morning after and it’s at the school. All we see are hands cleaning off Halloween decorations off a desk. Last they put away a black flame candle. The camera pans to reveal a teachers name plaque. On it reads “Ms. A. Denison”. That would have set up the next movie perfectly. The “mom” witch being the next villain.
I dont know if they have a third movie that will be great and have all of the original cast
I enjoyed the 1st and saw it in theaters, the 2nd I enjoyed as well. I can see the 3rd these girls will meet the 1st witch and I think she'll be a greater force even for them to deal with.. to bring the 3 back or even Winnie. And they could have again another scene from the past of her influence on the sisters and or leading the town to end the sisters so she could have more power.

This was a decent sequel. I really liked the beginning and the kids did a great job being the Sanderson sisters. The ending was kind of meh though, could of been better.

And she thought they would be coming back, and the spell is done she can’t fight it so she embracing the fact that she’s gonna be with her sisters and they can plot to come back
The credits scene is more of a ok this is done BUT if we ever wanna do it again? Now we can but that candle can sit there forever LOL Kathy said it would be cool if they did an animated version later on (since they’ll all be mucb older probably by the time disney picked it up again?)

I didn't like this movie as much as the original but it had it's moments the actresses who played the Sanderson sisters were fantastic loved the callbacks and I knew from the trailers that at least one of those girls would be a clever little white witch but I hope they don't make a third one or a Disney Plus series cause it wouldn't feel the same without the Sanderson sisters
I want a prequel. We need more of their childhood and everything leading up to the beginning of the first movie. That would be nice

The film was alright but a collection of peeves has me being lukewarm at best on it. Things I liked. The new girls, the flashback showing the Sanderson's past. The focus on Winnie's love for her sisters, despite the fact they drive her mad. LOL!
The negatives for me. #1 was the retcons. In the original film, it was said Satan gave Winnie Book. Not Mother Witch
Lore added since then established the Witches as half-sisters with different fathers. Winnie's father being a power warlock. Mary's being a tracker, and Sarah's being the village idiot. Rather than here where all three girls apparently had the same father.
Biggest peeve. I hated the retcon of her & Billy not being lovers & turning Winnie into a creepy incel obsessed with a boy that she was never with who instead shagged her sister. I found it could've been more depthful if they'd kept Winnie & Billy as lovers but when things went South, THEN he had a fling with Sara. Just a bit more there of him loving something about Winnie rather than framing his only love as the dumb blonde nympho who ever man other honball man falls for. Lol
Leaving retcons, I just think Billy was wasted in general. If you took him out, you lose nothing of value. Filmmakers overhyped his inclusion - saying he has so much more to do & say this time. Not true imo. Lol And Fletcher heavily oversold Billy & Gilbert's relationship. Stating it as a special sweet, bromance. The actual relationship was Gilbert using Billy & offering him up to the witches without issue. Nothing deep, special, or sweet about that. I love a good Bromance & was looking forward to seeing one here that was promised and came nothing close to delivering.
Finally, Gilbert was a very annoying & unlikable simp of a character. So if I had to rate it, I'd have to sit it at a 2.5 / 5 for the retcons, unlikability of Gilbert who barely gets a comeuppance for his actions, and the wasting of Billy's character in general.
The devil's book thing... Madison said that the story was they got the book from Satan, but that doesn't mean it actually happened, so I don't see it as a retcon. Where would the village people get that piece of information? The reverend probably just made that up in a sermon. That is much more likely than Winifred having a chat with the villagers and saying she got it from Satan. I mean real humans once believed lightning was Thor throwing it. Doesn't mean Thor really existed and really threw lightning bolts. Somebody said it and somebody else believed it and this got handed down as fact.
Qell the ending credit is trying to say that there is another black candle and there might be a 3rd movie or series or animated series that might be the continuation after this

I just hate that they are trying to replace the Sanderson sisters and I guess I like the book choosing The new witch because he didn’t want Winnie to cast the spell and lose her sisters. But couldn’t talk.
Not really replacing. If a third movie happens, there is another black flame candle. And since Book is no longer with them, they COULD say the sisters still had their powers from before they died in this, making them that much more dangerous.
Winnie could also try and go after the three friends again to try and forcefully get Book back and we could possibly also see a return of the Witch.

The book version is way better and actually gives them a better backstory in the book they had a fourth sister that was a good witch she was the baker in Salem that talked to Zachary before he left to try and save his sister and also gives more info into their mother

One thing people keep missing and misunderstanding about that box that is the box he reached in to pull of the second black flamed candle out of that wasn’t a hint that there is a second one unless that was the second one he made in that box Which I’m pretty sure isn’t the case

@@justkiarawrld7852 It doesn’t show him putting that box back though and I saw two boxes with labels, I think Cobweb might have been standing by the other box. I don’t necessarily think this alludes to a new movie,but it definitely seems to me to imply that Gilbert made more than one candle,which makes sense since he likely didn’t want to waste any of the effort he’d have to go to get what he needed to make the candle

Disney keep trying to play it safe to not offend anyone also The characters have became beloved by us so they didn’t want to destroy them in a bad lighting nothing they do at this point far as coming up with a way to bring them back would make any sense what? she’s gonna go back to being evil after that heartfelt ending? My wife wanted to watch it, so we did. To be blunt, it`s so boring. If you think watching rain running down the windows is entertaining give it a go, your in for a treat.
So they retcon them getting the book from the devil? Also the book has options now? After being evil for hundreds of years it suddenly decides to help a teenager do good? The writing was iffy. Plus it would've been better if more of the original cast was on this.
How would historians know where she got the book from? She never told anyone that.
Realistically speaking, the Sanderson actors probably would not and could not come back for yet another.

Villains get a happy ending 😢
Winnie giving up everything for her sisters is a nice idea, but executed poorly since no where in the entire film (and the first one, for that matter) does Winnie show anything but annoyance and contempt for her siblings. Felt super forced and tacked on.
she protected them multiple times. Like in the first one when the bus stops by them and they get scared, she puts her arms over them and she drags them to shelter when Max sets the water sprinklers off and they think its killing them. Not to mention, the whole reason she turned evil was to protect her sisters. And she shared the youth potion with them, even though she didn't need to.

As a person who grew up with the original, I didn't like this one. It lacks the mysterious and gritty atmosphere, there was no sense of tension, the jokes were not good. Zero empathy for the new teenage trio. You have three witches who do not scare any child. No "Come Little Children" song from Jessica Parker. The CGI was weird, the talking cat in the OG was more credible.
What is Gilbert's motivation for reviving the witches? It is well known in the city that they murdered a little girl in the past, unless it is a very dark character, but it does not match the performance of the actor and the character development and it doesn't make sense that he could see the witches back in 1993 because all the children were under the spell of Sarah. The mayor and the boyfriend characters no showing up at the end.
Not to mention that they didn't cast the original actors who would be adults by now, aming why seek revenge on a person who only carries one bloodline when they could seek revenge on the people who brought them back from the dead 30 years ago? It seems that Disney did not try very hard, I think they should ask Tom Cruise for advice on how to make a sequel.
