Hocus Pocus is my mom's favorite movie, period. She was so happy and excited when I showed her the trailer for the sequel that she got all of our family together to watch it yesterday. She really loved it.

It was lovely to see winifred showing emotions at what she'd done by casting the spell she promised not to and how much she really loved her sisters as she said her powers are nothing without her sisters who were the ones that really did love her.

I noticed at the beginning that the mother witch had the same purple eyes that Winnie did when she did the magika maxima spell at the end. AND her coven were all gone... could she have also done this spell, lost her coven, and didn't want Winnie to go through the same thing?

Exactly what I was thinking
So my head cannon is that the witch at the beginning of the movie used the Power Spell and lost her sisters / coven. She felt pity for the Sanderson Sisters because they very much reminded her of what she valued most and lost so she spares them and made sure they knew not to cast that spell. Her over the top eye glitter could be seen as making her look powerful and beautiful (making her eyes sparkle) but it also in a way makes it looks like she was recently crying (her eyes sparks with tears).
I was not thinking I was going to like this movie as nothing could replace or come close to the original in my mind, but this movie definitely delivered in the end with the feels. I never thought I’d have enjoyed this movie nearly as much but even more so, that I’d be bawling my eyes out in the end. The ending message is everything to me, ‘ you can look for fame and power, but in the end, it’s nothing unless you have family / friends to share / enjoy it with’.
It seems to be cannon as her eyes had the same purple glow was Winifred's when she finished the magical maxima spell. She, like Winnie, likely performed the spell without reading the warning. But unlike her she wasn't able to die and reunite with her own coven.
This analysis is a saving grace for that movie.
Its crazy that i never noticed the other sisters never had powers, they were just their to make winifreds connection stronger. That was cool to see.

Did you guys notice the colors of the girls of how they dress? Becca was Green like Winifred, Izzy is Red like Marry and Cassie is purple like Sarah.
From there I knew, that they new generation of witches. Something I want to point out.
They also wore their hair in similar styles to the sisters as well.

Look, if I were to run into Hannah Waddingham in the woods, I’d do whatever she wanted me to do without even questioning it. If I became a witch after that…Oops 🤣. The woman could literally curse me, even turn me into a toad and I’d thank her. *That’s* how thirsty I am over her 😂.
That being said, it’s a crime the only gave Hannah one line to sing. She’s got such a gorgeous voice…she deserves a whole Broadway number! Hopefully she gets that in the 3rd movie.
BRING HANNAH BACK!!!!!! She was amazing with what little she had to work with- opened the movie eating and gobbling the audience right up. We deserve a third movie and so does mother witch!

Loved seeing the sisters back, but I felt the only good part of the movie was the end. There’s just something about the old grainy cgi from the first movie that makes it iconic and the newer looking cgi wasn’t it lmao
I completely agree: it was familiar but fresh. It gave me everything I wanted. To revisit characters almost 30 years later must have been a daunting task but Bette, Kathy, Sarah and Doug nailed it! The new cast was wonderful as well. I laughed throughout the movie and I balled my eyes out at the end. It had that sense of nostalgia, fun, humor, a little bit of fear and a lot of heart that will make this a must see for many future Halloweens 🧙♀️🧙♀️🧙♀️

I give myself kudos for not crying cuz when Winnie asked for help I felt emotional cuz this child hungry witch is still protective of her sisters.Gilbert needs a serious witch whipping shame on him. The baby Sanderson sisters were so precious and poor little cobweb I just want to keep him. For a legacy sequel 8/10 cuz I was missing max Dani and Allison bad. P.S:what happened to the devil woman song cuz I thought that was supposed to be in the movie.

It's such a bittersweet ending for the sisters, as it's most likely the last time we will ever see them together on screen - I was not expecting to be crying into my gyro on a Wednesday night when I put this on.
Just watched HP2 last night and it did not disappoint. Watching your reaction was like watching it again with friends. I wish I could watch all my favorite Halloween movies with you two

It would've been cool if they got more of the original actors to do a cameo in this movie- but still happy with the ones we did get back! I really don't have any complaints, this movie was lots of fun!

Fun fact: Walgreens actually was playing commercials with the Sanderson sisters in it. I was seeing them on my Hulu and Disney plus ads for over a month before the actually movie released. XD

The first one is one of my favorite Halloween movies EVER. It came out the year I was born so I'm pretty sure I've seen it every year of my life and I LOVE it. This sequel was absolutely superb, more than I could have ever asked for, I'm so excited to watch both every year from now on!!!

Anyway, I think you two were little unfair to Cassie. I saw it that it was both parties faults in them falling out before the movie started. I mean, if I was Cassie if someone refused to speak to me and not tell me what o did wrong, I would stop trying too. Can’t force yourself onto people. And Cassie should of told her Himbo boyfriend that he was making fun of them and probably realized that’s maybe why the girls didn’t want to hang out.

It’s so fun watch you guys! It’s like watching movies with friends that love Halloween like me! As far as this movie, I liked it but disappointed that the story didn’t have a grown Dany with a daughter that woke the witches, that to me, would have made this movie perfect.

There are two candles... Black Flame candles are made from the fat of a hanged man... Gilbert was taught by the book that he found in the Sanderson house the night 29 years ago where the two bullies that stole his candy were hanging in cages... Gilbert is a murderer.
This theory is WILD! But honestly serves jay and ice right!!! They deserved to be melted down to a candle and we’ll die on that hill.

I’m betting that Mother witch could be the threat of a third. And maybe she performed the Magicae Maxima spell as well and that’s how she lost her coven and why she warned Winnie against it. Just not sure how well it would work without the Sanderson sisters so hopefully they can find a good way to work them in.

The movie was a miss for me. It felt like Disney was trying to target a new fan base with a younger audience. They watered Hocus Pocus down. The 90s kids kept the fandom going, it should’ve been targeted towards us, not the younger gen. I didn’t like how they made the Sanderson sisters so weak. A teenage witch who literally discovered her powers during a fight scene was able to defeat them? And these teenage girls knew which spells to use right away and were familiar with Book even though they never used it before? Don’t get me started with Book’s betrayal towards Queen Winifred. They should’ve brought back the old cast. They could’ve brought back Dani. Maybe Max as the Mayor and Allison as his wife? They could’ve done so much with it. The young Sanderson sisters, especially young Winifred was great. I also like the Easter eggs through out the film. I did not like the ending.

First off; none of the songs were originals, just rewritten for the movie. Second; you two didn't see the end credit scene! No spoilers there!
The Bitch is Back is an old Elton John song from 1974, rewritten to The Witches are Back. The second song is a from Blondie; back in 1979, called One Way of Another. Again rewritten for the movie. Just the same way I Put a Spell On You was; in the original movie.
Although the song numbers were great; I felt like they totally broke the reality of the movie. In the first film; at least Winnie heard the singer on stage singing the song. Here; there is no way in hell, they would know these songs! So I kind of didn't like the use of the songs; even though they were well performed! Other than that; I really loved this movie!
I feel like you missunderstood. They knew the other songs were not original. Irät was just the last obe they didn't recognize, which is why he asked if that particular one was original.

I love your guys' reaction to this incredible film, but if I'm being honest, the fact that you completely missed the point that Gilbert *didn't* see what went down in 1993 other than the Sandersons flying and then disappearing, having only to rely on the historical fact that innocent women were persecuted by evil Puritans, yet continued shitting on Gilbert was a tad bit irritating 😫
