Why nobody is reacting to anything from Blind Guardian's Imaginations through the looking glass is beyond me. It's their greatest concert. But that's just like my opinion, man.
We are talking about the Imaginations Through The Looking Glass tour? The one with Hansi still having long hair? Right? The best version (soundwise) I could find from that are uploaded by a guy called Gaz Baird. Still 480p and not official.
The translation from what Hansi was talking about in german: 'No objections from up here, looks great! One can work with that, at least for starters. We'll stay Tolkienish. We'll cover a dark chapter in the history of the Noldor, a song about the gentleman (aka: sir, lord, mister) Fingolfin and his last hours - When Time Stands Still! At The Iron Hill!' Also, the reason why you didn't like powermetal before is probably the same why you haven't heard of all those european and asian bands: You are a metalhead in America. While the rest of the world is totally used to being swamped with foreign music all the time (mostly US pop music), which made all of us generally more open to and interested in foreign bands and sounds, the US is very homogenic when it comes to art, music and movies. That has many reasons, but it's a fact that most americans are only used to the american style of their music genre and it never even occured to them, to take a look outside their little box. As I often hear from american (but also australian and canadian) acquaintances who come here to study, it's because most of you guys are taught from birth that the american version is the best there is anyway (and often don't even know, that it's an american 'version' and did not originate in the US at all). And if you already have the best, there is no reason to look further, right? However, not to brag but Powermetal as it is known everywhere outside of US, originated in Germany around the 60s (thanks to 'The Beatles') and was cultivated here to ridiculous perfection by bands as Blind Guardian, Powerwolf and Helloween (to name a few) in the 80s. And because we are so used to sharing and taking from each other in Europe, different countries have bred their own powermetal babies, like Alestorm (Scotland), Stratovarius (Finnland) or Rhapsody Of Fire (Italy), with Gloryhammer being an all international Powermetal melting pot band (though it's pretty common to have band members from different countries in european metal). Additionally, the european Powermetal has since long left its Speed- and Trashmetal baby shoes behind and is nowadays far closer to Folk Metal, european Epic Metal (also very different from US Epic Metal) or Symphonic Metal. Oh, and most of the vocalists are classically trained singers, so that adds to a good sound.
"Being swamped with foreign music"...just sitting here as a German, listening to Stoner and Metal songs in languages I can't even comprehend xD Northern and Eastern Europe are strong in the musical game
Every Blind Guardian song become 10 times more epic when you know the lore behind it. I always get emotional when listening to Harvest of Sorrow which is about the Silmarilion story of Hurin's Children.
This song talks about Fingolfin (one of the greatest Noldor kings) who, after a disastrous war against the forces of evil in which he lost all of his cared ones, furious and desperate, decides to ride with his horse towards Angband, to face Morgoth (a god and lord of evil), who caused the war and was responsible of all the death and destruction. It was the only time in which Morgoth went out of his fortress. Despite being only an elf, Fingolfin was able to stand up to him and even managed to wound him seven times, although he eventually succumbed after a deadly strike. In the Silmarillion it is said that as Fingolfin crossed the Dor-nu-Fauglith (a desert land) on his horse Rochallor, he resembled Oromë himself (another god, hunter of monsters and wild beasts), as he was so full of anger and hatred. Morgoth's soldiers and servants fled at the mere sight of him. Very epic, epic stuff!
One of BG's signatures is that there is a lot of layered sound, something that they took from Queen. Another one of their signatures is that just about all of the chorus parts in just about all their songs are Sing-Song. Whether at European festivals or US club shows, crowd participation is huge at a Guardian show. My recommendation for your next song is "Nightfall."
In adittion to whats said above: There are two BG albums that somehow display up to 50% of every setlist of a BG concert: Tales from the Twilight World and Nightfall in Middleearth. You may be interested in the Blind Guardian Twilight Orchestra, an orchestric (non metal!) side project by Hansi and André. They released the album Legacy of the Dark Lands last year (after 20+ years of thinking, trying and announcing) and its a reeeaaaaaly epic musical ride, guided by the bards voice in all of his facillities. A masterpiece of musicianship and somehow a way for longtime BG fans to re-listen and re-evaluate the newer BG recordings. I really changed my perspetive towards them and like them more than ever.
@@Dosenpruegel I´ve only seen BG twice, but Imaginations was heavily played then :) Good thing too since that and somewhere far beyond are my personal favourites!
@@randomstuffzofdoom Yep you're right, Imaginations is big up there too. Lucky enough, I love everything by BG so it doens't matter for me ;D. If you would have asked me to pick a album... well, I'm the crazy one - A Night at the Opera. 🤩🤘🏻
We read a text in english in school about Malala and everytime I read her name, I went in my head "Malala, deliverance, why've you ever forgotten me"... Blind Guardian is too great, I can't resist their songs
I'm a simple man. I see Hansi, and I automatically smash the Like button. As others have suggested, please check out Demons & Wizards; I'd recommend either Terror Train or Heaven Denies. Hearing Hansi's voice combined with Jon Schafer's insane riffs is truly something that must be experienced.
Both Andre and Hansi are absolutely geniuses in what they're doing. And I'm not saying it in the "omg I'm a super big fan and they're the best" way. They're actual masterminds in writing music and lyrics. And whoever wants proof, just listen to "and then there was silence"
The parts where the band is singing behind Hansi sound thin because on the albums there's about 50 more voices singing the same parts. They would need a full choir and orchestra to do themselves justice live. I wish someone would do the album version of "And Then There was Silence" though there's no video. That song is hella-epic.
i wish people did more suggesting to my favorite song from Nightfall in Middle Earth that is even more epic... heck almost Wagnerian opera... i m talking of course of "Noldor"
I think Blind Guardian are one of the most underrated bands ever. I don't know what it is, maybe the subjects of their lyrics, maybe the simplicity of the band (no costumes, etc.), but they are often overlooked. They are unbelievable and their live performances are just mindblowing. I can guarantee that this kind of crowd involvement is the standard. They are one of those bands (and there are not many of them), that will make people want to be there, regardless of your musical tastes :) Welcome to the brotherwood btw :D
What I love about BG is that their songs are "epic feel good", but also detailed and interesting. A lot of power metal is fun to listen to, but doesn't hold up to spinning in the CD player more than a few times.
If you want more Blind Guardian, I'd go with Nightfall or Curse of Feanor, off the same album as this and Mirror, Mirror; Wheel of Time, if someone can find a decent live video; or, if you just want more Hänsi, then Ayreon's live version of Age of Shadows is a must, an amazing duet with Marko Hietala.
I personally feel like Blind Guardian have a lot more lyrical depth than some of the other big name power metal bands. Also, they have a good deal of thrash and speed metal influence in their sound, which help to counteract some of the power metal elements which listeners might consider "cheesy".
@@jb197536 I'd say they were thrash influenced power metal up to ANITO and then after that up till the new album they were progressive influenced power metal.
oh man I'm so stoked you're doing Blind Guardian! I REEEAAAAALLLLLY wish you would check out a song from their 2004 live DVD "Imaginations Through the Looking Glass". It is, without a doubt, the most well-produced live show that Blind Guardian has available, every song on there is my favorite live version by a MILE. Check out "Mirror Mirror" or "And Then There was Silence".... or of course you can revisit the even better versions of Valhalla and The Bard's Song!
I believe that is the guitar André is actually most known to play. For a long-time Blind Guardian fan, it always looks weird when he's not playing a red guitar, heh. Also, interesting fact about André: his guitar-playing career nearly came to an end in the mid-'90s, due to nerve damage in his elbow. He talked about it in one of the "Revisited" videos they uploaded on their UA-cam channel some time back (which I highly recommend watching, if you want to know more about the history of the band). He said that he was apparently like one day away from completely losing the use of his other arm. Kind of incredible that despite that he's still one of the best (and most underrated) guitarists out there. Anyway, it just made me think if that might be one of the reasons he's using that wristband and tape on his guitar. I could be completely off on that guess (I don't even remember which of his arms was damaged), but it does make me wonder.
can attest for this, the red guitar is THE guitar for him, it's his signature, i was kinda confused what you meant with he's playing a different guitar because it's the other way around, the red guitar is his main guitar
You are totally right - that Wacken is a pilgrimage. There is a reason why the festival ground is referred to as the "Holy Metal Land" It is all encompassing from when you either: are driving through Germany with W:O:A in tape on your back window giving it the \m/ to all the other cars with the same (trust me... this starts virtually from the moment you cross into Germany on the Autobahn) or you land at "the Heavy Metal Airport" of Hamburg (all the airport staff will be wearing Wacken shirts) waiting for the shuttle to the festival ground - you'll be waiting with other fans from around the world... South America, Japan, Australia etc. It's the way not just the local village, but the surrounding villages embraces the festival. The acoustic sessions in the village church or taking the bus over to the village outdoor pool complex while your entertained by the Metal marching band - Blaas of Glory. Plus you've obvs only seen the performances on the 2 main stages on youtube.... There is another 10 stages to keep you entertained
Completely agree with all of the above. We went last year from the UK and there were even people with Wacken shirts on the ferry to Holland. When you first walk onto the infield and see the crowd on the Holy Grounds. Man it takes your breath away.....
First try of English translation of the introduction Hansi is doing: No objections from up here. That looks great We can work with that... at least for the beginning. We stay on Tolkien. We cover a dark topic of the history of the Noldor. A song about Mr Fingolfin and his last hours.
Low lvl translation again :) "No objections [I tried to understand the german word 5 min, thx again rafael for helping me out] from up here, looks amazing! We can work with this. At least starting with it. We`ll stay Tolkien'ish [Lord of the rings author, J.R.R.Tolkien], we take a glampse on a dark theme of the Noldor [one of the three branches of the elves and the ones who mainly take part in Tolkiens storys] history. A song about the lord Fingolfin [one of the high kings of the noldor] and his last hours WHEN TIME STANDS STILL AT THE IRON HILL!!! " [After the song]: "Thank you very much, impressing!" Blind Guardian is love, life and lust for me. Still I'm waiting for "And then there was silence" by them, studio version please. This songs deserves the best mix possible. ^^
@@demonwentthatway No problem sir, a good way to force myself to activly use (and hopefully improve) my english skills since I'm using them just passive most of the time (by reading/listening to english). 🤓😉

Ive heard you say you like fantasy epics. Well a fantastic Blind Guardian song is "Wheel of Time" off their At the Edge of Time Album. Yes as the name says it is about the Wheel of Time Fantasy Series. Hard to find a performance of it live but the song is certainly worth a listen to. Great Video man I look forward to more.
I was front/1st row at this concert, right before Hansi! I waited over 6hrs infront of the Black Stage to see Blind Guardian, it was all worth it! Not to forget, after Guardian finished, Ozzy played the True Stage!
Btw, back for another fun fact. The ESP came before the Ibanez guitar. The Ibanez is actually a 3D scanned copy of the Red ESP. Besides the pickups, headstock and inlays (ESP had EMG 81 & 85's) , I think everything else is the same. Also, Gear Gods had a gear video for BG :)
I've read through most of the comments from your reactions to Blind Guardian and one song I haven't seen anyone suggest is Skalds And Shadows.. It is on the soundtrack to "In the Name Of the King: A Dungeon Seige Tale" starring Jason Statham, Burt Reynolds, Ron Perlman, John Rhyes Davies, Matthew Lilliard, and Ray Liotta.. The movie is great but the song is EPIC!! I'm sure you will enjoy it too.
Dear Tank, always glad you appreciate Blind Guardian! Speaking about guitars, André still gives his best in a new song they played for the first time at WOA 2020 (The virtual streaming version). The song is VIOLENT SHADOWS
Oh dude, I'm so ready for this. This is the one song that took me deep into my metal journey when it started. This record in general, but this song in particular.
Iced Earth with their song Dracula!! Live from Metal Camp 2008! There's a song to check out. The vocals are insane. The guitars are thunderous! Everything is dark and glorious!
Not sure if this song was performed live but I HIGHLY recomend Wheel of Time by Blind Guardian. If you want something live - Grave Digger Rebellion feat Hansi Kursch and Van Canto
Yay - more Blind Guardian reactions from the one and only Tank! If you want more of their versality check out their Twilight Orchestra album. Unfortunately so far they haven't played anything of it live as it was released end of last year. And - though I am sure others have already mentioned it - check out Demons & Wizards, Hansi's side project with Iced Earth's Jon Schaffer. There are great videos from their 2019 Wacken show.
More Guardian, more better! I'm glad I have tickets for their only Dutch show in 2021. Other Guardian songs to react to: Nightfall, The script for my requiem or Mordred's song to name a few. And (maybe needless to say once again) Hansi is also with Ayreon and you still have to do a gear checking of the Ayreon universe, so: Age of Shadows, Stars of Sirrah, River of time (with Hansi) or Magnetism (Marco, Tommy and Anneke) or Collision (Marco and Tommy) for some extra flavour :)
I love that you are doing more Blind Guardian! They have been my favorite band for over 10 years now, and the music is still not getting old. Blind Guardian didn't even really start as a power metal band, the first albums were more Speed Metal, I'd recommend "Majesty" which is on the heavier side (like Valhalla) and also absolutely a crowd favorite. One concert I was at, they actually wanted to end the concert, but the crowd kept shouting for Majesty and they came back on stage and actually played it. That was super fun!
@Tank: When you come to germany, I would love to welcome you here. A little hint: Concerts begin at thursday, but you have to arrive at monday morning or you have to walk quite a while from your camp to th holy ground (early bird, you know).
Yes, I jump up and down everytime I see you choosing a Blind Guardian song! You can't go wrong with them, so every suggestion you get about them is golden. Since I haven't seen it from anyone, I will throw in "Majesty" as a song you should check out (beware, you will get a concussion after 7 minutes of nonstop headbanging). It's the first song from their first album and show their roots in speed metal before they transitioned more inte power. I have found two live videos with good enough quality, one from Rockpalast 2016 and one from way earlier with them being much younger (uploaded by someone named "Konstantinos Peramatiotiss"). Bouth videos offer a lot to dive into as a roadie. Speaking about roadie things, I would love to hear you explain how you prepare and adjust for a show during such different conditions as this one, where they start the concert in daylight, but finishes it in total darkness. Do you just let things roll on as usual, or what kind of adjustments do you take with lighting, pyro/special effects, etc.?
He is singing about the lord of the Noldor Elbs from Lord of the Rings They love Fantasy and played in their younger years D&D as far as i know. Greetings from Germany
You can react "a past and future secret" - "The last candle" or their best song for me "curse my name". For this last one i think you can't found a live version.
Time stands still is about the battle between Fingolfin and Morgoth at the gates of his fortress Angband, also know as "iron hell". Yes, hell, not hill.
@@Sadfluffybear yep. I'm a big Tolkien geek. I've reread the Silmarillion about 7 times in full. Fingolfin is my favorite character and his ride and battle is my favorite part, except maybe for the entire Of Beren and Luthien chapter. And my online name here is a Elvish name I made for myself.
I recently watched you react to Nightwish "The Islander". So, this is the song that I react similar to. The Silmarillion is my favourite book and Fingolfin my favourite character. I already had a lump in my throat even before I started the video. Well ... and then the song began ... PRAISE OUR KING!!!
The metal scene is so different between US and more or less the rest of the world. I grew up in Sweden and attended a lot of concerts and festivals. Bands that would fill arenas and Stadiums in Europe and South America, but here in US they struggling to sell out clubs.
That mention on the Gaff tape was great. I've seen it around and not once had a clue what it was. I saw B.G. and Gravedigger in a venue less than 150 people. Imagine.
Man... I've been in love with freaking blind guardian for the past 18 years .. it's awesome seeing you lovin' them too!!! I love Hansi's voice .. he goes from a children storyteller to high pitched scream in 0.1 seconds !!
I'll always remember 2011 Wacken coz Hansi's head nearly has a collision with pyrotechnics at the end of the show. Would LOVE to know what you think of Blind Guardian "And then there was silence" live performance at their own Open Air Fest in Coburg 2003 = "Imaginations Through the Looking Glass". Let's see if a 15min metal opus about Troy will put you asleep 😝
Don´t know If I ever heard this song live. I loved this song back in the day though :) It comes from the album where Blind Guardian started to move towards more symphonic and orchestral arrangements in their music.
Big shout out to Wacken festival for producing so much material! Two of the bands that "always" play there are Accept and Saxon, both legends. Would be cool to see them on the channel some day.
Saw this band in Sauget, IL with maybe 50 people in attendance on the Night at the Opera tour. They still put on a great show. Felt bad for them but they were true professionals.
Your videos are so awesome. I've been sitting here watching them while I work and this is probably the most productive I've been since I started my business. And now I love Blind Guardian as well. :D Looking forward to discovering more of their music.
"slowly and feared, the dark lord appeared" Fingolfin, lord of elves, enraged by a massacre of his people by Morgoth (Sauron true master, and one of the gods of the creation) charged trough the land until the dark door of the dark lord domain. who caught glimpse of him and his horse mistaken them for another of the gods. he challenged Morgoth to get out of his citadel to duel toghether and in the end the Dark One accepted to keep the loyalty of his minions. after a long fought battle, fingolfin severed/deeply cut one of his opponend ankle and pierced him several times, the land was littered with craters when the dark holes hit the ground, until the fatal hit killed the noble Fingolfin. finally found this one too. always love your infos! welcome to the bard's taver, man!
how I've never heard this song before, awesome reaction as always Tank!! Honestly I don't know BG's entire discography, but "Punishment Divine" and "Imaginations From The Other Side" live versions are a must on your channel !! 🤘🤘🤘
Actually it's Alexander Fedosov and not fedoseev who published C. andreolbrichi . Anyhow he was pleased when I told him his work was mentioned in your video. Nice video, keep doing what you do!!
Ok. This is 2011 show, Andre was playing ESPs at that time however now he’s playing the Ibanez guitars 6/7 string, Marcus was playing ESPs in the past as well, but I haven’t seen him playing anything else but Gibson guitars last couple of years. Also this show features Oliver Holzwarth on bass and not their current bass player Barend 😎🤟
Like all songs from "A Nightfall in Middle earth" this song is based on Tolkien's Silmarillion, specifically heroic duel between Fingolfin, the High King of Noldor and Morgoth, fallen Vala, the Black Foe of the World.
loved the reaction, tnx. i agree, i love when there is lead guitar and/or riffs going throughout the songs. a couple of albums that do this amazingly are judas priest - painkiller, and demon - the unexpected guest
I seem to remember that I read/heard ages ago that the black stuff on André's guitar is actually a cushion, becausee the edge of the body was hurting his wrist/arm.
I've listened to Blind Guardian for like allmost 25 years and I always enjoyed how they kept moving their music forward. Imaginations from the other side and, Somewhere far beyond and Tales from the Twilight World are all great albums and more..gritty? Some of their aboslute heaviest songs are on those albums. And then Nightfall in middle earth came out. Not as heavy and fast allthou the heavyness is still there of course with more orchestral arrangements. More..epicness, if thats a word. A night at the opera i think is the album that divides the most, theres alot of...STUFF on that album. The song And then there was silence is a 14 minute epic which I love but I think some people think its "too much". Not me. And now, legacy of the dark lands, their latest one is like a fricking movie score. I absolutley adore the journey this band has taken from rough german power metal in 1988 to some of the most wellproduced metal you'll ever hear.
Ah 2011... so long ago... that was the "Edge of Time" Tour. The first song of this Album is Sacred Worlds, where Blind Guardian wrote the song for a computer game called "Sacred". You'll find it on youtube: there is an InGame Concert with animated Blind Guardian performing this song. If you go further back, 1990-98, Hansi plays the bass himself, plus singing. Maybe do a reaction on that and give me some insights on what type of bass he was using? I still have one of Hansis picks that I caught on a concert 😁
Nice choice. This song is from one of the first metal albums I ever randomly picked up (mostly because I'm a big LOTR fan). I can't help but sing along with the chorus every time.
always fun to watch the old guardian responses. well if you grew up to be a metalhead in germany in the 80s and 90s and probably even therafter there were a few things you sort of started with. obviously iron maiden, manowar, hammerfall, and then there's blind guardian. there was no not knowing the lyrics. even if you drifted into other types of metal later on you knew guardian and their lyrics. i can still sing along with most of the lyrics tho my last concert/festival must have been about 18 years ago
Yes! Love the Blind Guardian reactions! I'd also love to see you react to their new track, "Violent Shadows", that they played during their Wacken 2020 set. It's on Wacken's UA-cam as a 3 song video, sandwiched between Welcome to Dying and Majesty (2 tracks you should also check out!).
i ain't the biggest Power metal fan either, but there's one sure thing i always said: Blind Guardian are the goat of power metal (debatable depending on the opinion, but they sure are amongst the best in the genre). There sound is just so unique, not only with Hansi's voice, but the guitar tone of Andre is -c-r-a-z-y-.
Great that you are discovering Blind Gaurdian. Are you aware of Hansi's collab with Iced earth called Demons and Wizards? I think you would really like anyof their stuff from the touched by the krimson king album.
Just for your reaction from your roadie backgtround, I would suggest "The bard's song" from their live in Athens in 2015. it's in a club with about 800 people and Hansi seemed like drinking the energy from the crowd.
Great reaction. Is Blind Guardian well known in the US? Hansi did also work as a supergroup: Demons & Wizards, the supergroup founded by Blind Guardian's Hansi Kürsch and Iced Earth's Jon Schaffer. Also having a great show at Wacken in 2019.
In certain metal scenes maybe. But me personally, I’d say they’re not well known in the US at all. Hell, even Iced Earth is a name I haven’t heard too many times in the metal scene here, and they’re American.
As always, great reaction to Blind Guardian. We need more of those Also, great choices of the background songs for the intro and outro with 'Holy Diver' and '40:1'.
Yeah Tank, Blind Guardian has a kind of sound that would fit right in drinking mead at the Prancing Pony with a bunch of hobbits and dwarves. Hansie gets out some great high notes too. Take care.
dont mind the bass player and his gear, cause hes a session musician and thats the reason why hes allways in the background. after hansis quitting the bass they never had an official bass player. btw back in the days hansi played an esp horizon bass, if i remember correct
A quote from the silmarilian "Thus he came alone to Angband's gates, and he sounded his horn, and smote once upon the brazen doors, and challenged Morgoth to come forth to single combat. And Morgoth came." Fingolfin, High King of the Noldor, most proud and valiant of the Elven-kings of old Morgoth was the first dark lord whom Sauron was a servent of This fight is amazing Fingolfin just went alone and called out Morgoth, Morgoth answered and they fought fingolfin injured him 7 times and right before being killed he wounded him a 8th time which was permanent injury
Why nobody is reacting to anything from Blind Guardian's Imaginations through the looking glass is beyond me. It's their greatest concert. But that's just like my opinion, man.

To this day, I can't see or hear the phrase "time stands still" without singing along...
I have the same reaction whenever someone says/I read "and then there was silence". BTW @Tank a song you need to check out
We read a text in english in school about Malala and everytime I read her name, I went in my head "Malala, deliverance, why've you ever forgotten me"...
Heaven Denies !!!
Jon is going to jail lol.
Andre is no wanker. His leads are very composed, very integral to the songs.
Both Andre and Hansi are absolutely geniuses in what they're doing. And I'm not saying it in the "omg I'm a super big fan and they're the best" way. They're actual masterminds in writing music and lyrics. And whoever wants proof, just listen to "and then there was silence"
its a shame how underrated both blind guardian and iced earths members are
Noldor, Curse of Faenor, any song off Nightfall in Middle Earth... maybe start at the beginning and work through the cd?
Agreed. My favorite BG album
Yes please
"Curse of Fëanor" 🙏
The parts where the band is singing behind Hansi sound thin because on the albums there's about 50 more voices singing the same parts. They would need a full choir and orchestra to do themselves justice live. I wish someone would do the album version of "And Then There was Silence" though there's no video. That song is hella-epic.
i wish people did more suggesting to my favorite song from Nightfall in Middle Earth that is even more epic... heck almost Wagnerian opera... i m talking of course of "Noldor"
An orchestra of guitars, if u want to give the same sound of the album 🤩
This band does hold up to looping the albums over and over and over. One of the reasons they are my #1 along with Seventh Wonder.
The Curse of Feanor is a criminally underrated song. So powerful.
@@thewal1ofsleep i will take part.. IN YOUR DAAAAAAAAMN FATE
Nightfall needs a reaction
Age of shadows live ver. might just be the best thing ever created by mankind. Its just orgasmic.
My favourite Band of ALL TIME !!! Hansi Kürsch...Voice God !!! Greetings from Bonn-Germany. BG 4 Life.
I personally feel like Blind Guardian have a lot more lyrical depth than some of the other big name power metal bands. Also, they have a good deal of thrash and speed metal influence in their sound, which help to counteract some of the power metal elements which listeners might consider "cheesy".
Often feel there more of a progressive metal band with high fantasy lyrics
@@jb197536 I'd say they were thrash influenced power metal up to ANITO and then after that up till the new album they were progressive influenced power metal.
The effort and production of the videos on this channel are fantastic and I don't understand how he doesn't have more subscribers. Great content.
Thanks a ton!
oh man I'm so stoked you're doing Blind Guardian!
Holy shit. We would have lost so much if Andre had quit in the mid-90's.
First try of English translation of the introduction Hansi is doing:
No objections from up here. That looks great
We can work with that... at least for the beginning.
We stay on Tolkien.
We cover a dark topic of the history of the Noldor.
A song about Mr Fingolfin and his last hours.
My favorite Blind Guardian song.
Fingolfin the real king.
Praise our king!
Every fan at every Guardian show since 88: "PLAY MAJESTY!!!"
Me, underneath this video: "PLAY MAJESTY!!!"
My favorite song from them
Has to be the "Tokyo Tales" version though
@@DecimusStark Í couldn't agree more.. Every time that song comes up in my car I scream like a lunatic along with it
Low lvl translation again :)
"No objections [I tried to understand the german word 5 min, thx again rafael for helping me out] from up here, looks amazing!
"
[After the song]: "Thank you very much, impressing!"
Blind Guardian is love, life and lust for me. Still I'm waiting for "And then there was silence" by them, studio version please. This songs deserves the best mix possible. ^^
Thank you.

Thats a Pretty good life quality of ATTWS
The Bling Gaurdian at the edge of time is a great full symphony and metal album.
MAN, thats good stuff. Blind Guardian all the way, PLEASE!
2011 was my first Time in Wacken, getting Goosebumps seeing this ;-)
Yes, I jump up and down everytime I see you choosing a Blind Guardian song!
When going to Wacken you can go the weekend afterwards to "M'era Luna Festival" which is also in Northern Germany.
He is singing about the lord of the Noldor Elbs from Lord of the Rings
They love Fantasy and played in their younger years D&D as far as i know.
Greetings from Germany
You can react "a past and future secret" - "The last candle" or their best song for me "curse my name". For this last one i think you can't found a live version.
Words I understood in Elvish, not German, Noldor and Fingolfin. The race of Elves that the king Fingolfin belonged to. PRAISE OUR KING!
@@ComicalHealing massive respect, fingolfin = fav noldor, luthien is best girl though huan best boy
I recently watched you react to Nightwish "The Islander". So, this is the song that I react similar to. The Silmarillion is my favourite book and Fingolfin my favourite character. I already had a lump in my throat even before I started the video. Well ... and then the song began ... PRAISE OUR KING!!!
2011!!! I was there in the crowd!!! My last Wacken...man, I need to go back there...
Gonna do everyone a favor here. Search blind guardian live in stuttgart 2002 i believe.
I petitioned for it, missed it, and now see this months later.
Can't wait, its so awesome!
Demons and Wizards is a must. Love Hansi's voice. Thankyou.
The metal scene is so different between US and more or less the rest of the world. I grew up in Sweden and attended a lot of concerts and festivals. Bands that would fill arenas and Stadiums in Europe and South America, but here in US they struggling to sell out clubs.
One of my favourite Songs from BG. Love it, thanks Tank
Ooooooh I was actually in that crowd! Suuuuch a grat Show!!! Didn’t want it to end.
Lucky!!!
That mention on the Gaff tape was great. I've seen it around and not once had a clue what it was.
I saw B.G. and Gravedigger in a venue less than 150 people. Imagine.
I was somewhere in that crowd, it was so f'n amazing! Love your videos btw, you're awesome
Go for "Demons & Wizards" next, because it's a project of Hansi from Blind Guardian and Jon Schaffer from Iced Earth. Live Wacken 2019.
I keep posting it for already quite some time and the song should be The Gunslinger - great production, vocals and killer riffs
Andre seems to be using an auto-wah as well, the sound of Blind Guardian is awesome
I loved this song back in the day though :) It comes from the album where Blind Guardian started to move towards more symphonic and orchestral arrangements in their music.
ohhh mirror mirror, ... [switches to that vid]
one of the best songs ever made!
Big shout out to Wacken festival for producing so much material! Two of the bands that "always" play there are Accept and Saxon, both legends. Would be cool to see them on the channel some day.
Probably just me, but I love the ninth wave from the album beyond the red mirror
Another nice projekt with Hansi Kürsch is Demons and Wizards.
My Favorits, "Gunslinger" and "Fiddler on the Green".
Saw this band in Sauget, IL with maybe 50 people in attendance on the Night at the Opera tour. They still put on a great show. Felt bad for them but they were true professionals.
Sauget?! Was it at Pop’s?
@@TankTheTech Yes at Pop's. Also saw them at HOB in Chicago on the next tour. Sold out show.

"Imaginations from the other side", another masterpiece from Blind guardian.

Your videos are so awesome. I've been sitting here watching them while I work and this is probably the most productive I've been since I started my business. And now I love Blind Guardian as well. :D Looking forward to discovering more of their music.

Good luck mate. The tickets for next festival are usually sold out during the current festival :-)
"slowly and feared, the dark lord appeared"
Fingolfin, lord of elves, enraged by a massacre of his people by Morgoth (Sauron true master, and one of the gods of the creation) charged trough the land until the dark door of the dark lord domain. who caught glimpse of him and his horse mistaken them for another of the gods. he challenged Morgoth to get out of his citadel to duel toghether and in the end the Dark One accepted to keep the loyalty of his minions. after a long fought battle, fingolfin severed/deeply cut one of his opponend ankle and pierced him several times, the land was littered with craters when the dark holes hit the ground, until the fatal hit killed the noble Fingolfin.
finally found this one too. always love your infos! welcome to the bard's taver, man!
how I've never heard this song before, awesome reaction as always Tank!!
Oh shoot! Don’t know if it was a typo, I read the name wrong, or what. My mistake!
Blind Guardian was just announced as headliners for a festival i am going to next year. Will be really cool, unless you know covid 19...
Oh Hell yes, my favorite song of my favorite album of my favorite band! Thanks a lot, Tank!
🤘🤘🤘
Like all songs from "A Nightfall in Middle earth" this song is based on Tolkien's Silmarillion, specifically heroic duel between Fingolfin, the High King of Noldor and Morgoth, fallen Vala, the Black Foe of the World.
loved the reaction, tnx. i agree, i love when there is lead guitar and/or riffs going throughout the songs. a couple of albums that do this amazingly are judas priest - painkiller, and demon - the unexpected guest
Bright eyes is definetely worthy to talk about...!! Or Fly....just check them all...
Greetz from germany 🤘🤘
Hell yeah, bruddah. Always down for Blind Guardian.
I seem to remember that I read/heard ages ago that the black stuff on André's guitar is actually a cushion, becausee the edge of the body was hurting his wrist/arm.
Gaff tape doesn’t do much for cushioning surfaces. Haha. But that also could be the reason he has the sweat band in his wrist, too.
@@TankTheTech I know. I think there was paper tissue underneath or something :), but this was really long ago, maybe I misremembered.

blind guardian wheel of time. it will blow your mind!
One of my favourite bands...cheers Tank! \m/
Probably my favourite Rock band ever!
So glad you love BG
Ah 2011... so long ago... that was the "Edge of Time" Tour.
It's on Wacken's UA-cam as a 3 song video, sandwiched between Welcome to Dying and Majesty (2 tracks you should also check out!).
i ain't the biggest Power metal fan either, but there's one sure thing i always said:
Blind Guardian are the goat of power metal (debatable depending on the opinion, but they sure are amongst the best in the genre).
We need more of those
Also, great choices of the background songs for the intro and outro with 'Holy Diver' and '40:1'.
A quote from the silmarilian
"Thus he came alone to Angband's gates, and he sounded his horn, and smote once upon the brazen doors, and challenged Morgoth to come forth to single combat. And Morgoth came."
Fingolfin, High King of the Noldor, most proud and valiant of the Elven-kings of old
Morgoth was the first dark lord whom Sauron was a servent of
This fight is amazing
Fingolfin just went alone and called out Morgoth, Morgoth answered and they fought fingolfin injured him 7 times and right before being killed he wounded him a 8th time which was permanent injury
Love it!
Thanks for this! You definately should check out more of them because you won't be disappointed!
For more Blind Guardian, I recommend the Wacken 2020 performances. Welcome to the show and WELCOME TO DYING!!!
I still remember how this track blow me away in 1998.
